Senna for Constipation "I have IBS and sometimes take usually only half a tablet before going to sleep. I have mixed results generally, but last night I had a similar experience to some others I’ve seen on here, in that I woke up a couple of hours after taking the tablet, feeling unwell with cramps. Then I got the cold sweats and dizziness, and I crawled to the bathroom and retched and vomited. No bowel movement, just cramps. I went back to bed and still felt pretty sick and was shivering. I even dozed off fitfully a few times, but when I woke up properly, the nausea and cramps had passed, and I had a very voluminous bowel movement an hour after getting up. The medicine generally works for me, but you have to be prepared for very unpleasant side effects in getting there."

Senna for Constipation "I took Senokot at about 10:00 PM at night and was fine. At about 12:00 AM, holy crap, all hell broke loose! Tummy muscle spasms, painful stomach pains, gas pains, lightheadedness, dizziness, extreme sweating, increased anxiety, trouble breathing, chest tightness, chest pains... BUT NO BOWEL MOVEMENT! It is now 1:15 AM, and I am still having these side effects, feeling like I'm going to die or something. I am literally staying up all night because of this poison! I'm so scared right now, and no way am I going to the hospital because hospitals suck where I live. Can't tell if I'm dying or having a severe allergic reaction. Help! I'm never taking these again!!"

Senna for Constipation "Please do not take this medicine. Oh my goodness, I can't express enough what this put me through the past 2 days. I took it yesterday at 7 a.m. and was fine all day until after dinner at 6:30. Then I felt major gas-like pains that took me to my knees. The pain had me sounding like a dying moose. Then came the nausea and vomiting, it felt like the worst food poisoning ever. I was so hot and sweating like crazy, then literally freezing. The urgency to vomit and poop made me lose total control of my bladder. I was so weak from the torturing pain that I could hardly speak or move. I wanted to lay down in a fetal position, not moving to prevent the pain from coming back. During all this, I felt delirious, and my heart was pounding the whole time throughout the night. DON'T USE!"

Senna for Constipation "Horrifying. Like another said, I'm a mom as well, and the pain from this drug was worse than labor pain - couldn't agree more. I also had the nausea, sweating, then chills, and am suffering from PTSD from it. For 2 hours, I was screaming, the pain was so bad, the thought of riding in an ambulance with a morphine drip was what kept me alive. I'm considering a lawsuit. I did survive (obviously), but the next day, I had pains all over my stomach area like I did 1000 crunches, and it's mostly my stomach more than my intestines."

For Constipation "Took one senna tablet before going to bed. Then had the worst stomach and bowel cramps I have ever experienced. The abdominal pain was absolutely unbearable to the point where I thought I’d have to call an ambulance out of fear something was seriously wrong. Sweating, severe nausea, headache, shaking. I did have a bowel movement eventually, but the pain simply wasn’t worth it. Took about 18-20 hours to have an effect. Two days later and I still don’t have any sort of appetite and have a stomach ache. Would 100% not use ever again or recommend to anyone else."

For Constipation "I just took a package of Senna laxative back to the drugstore and told them I felt like it almost killed me, and there should be a big warning on the package. After taking as prescribed at night with lots of water, I woke with extreme cramping and nausea. I crawled to the bathroom, where I lay on the floor because I was passing out. It was coming out of both ends, and I had no control. I was sweating profusely, and my heart was pounding in my chest. It was several hours before the feeling passed. It was terrifying, and I get the same reaction from any senna-based laxative. I don’t know why there isn’t a warning about this on senna medication."

For Constipation "I've been struggling with constipation on and off for the last few weeks and wanted to try some senna tea to help. I drank one cup about 1 a.m. last night, and this morning at about 7:30 I felt a healthy need to use the bathroom, so I very happily made my way there, thinking this tea thing is great! As soon as I sat down on the toilet, I was extremely nauseous and had abdominal cramping at the same time, which is horrible when you have no idea which end it's gonna come out from. I then started sweating cold sweat, then my legs and arms went numb, my ears started ringing, and my vision went blurry. I knew something was no bueno and tried to get out of the bathroom and lie back down in bed. Next thing I know, my husband is picking me off the floor of the bathroom where I'd just fully passed out stone cold. Yeah, I don't think I'll ever be trying this again. Really scary experience. Thank goodness I fell backward into a wall and not forward and broke my face on the bathtub."

For Constipation "Took this because I found it in the pantry and didn’t really know what it was. I followed all of the instructions though. About four hours after drinking a tea with this herb, my stomach became uneasy. It’s 2 AM, and I haven’t slept all night. HORRIBLE abdominal cramps, sweating, and nausea. NO BOWEL MOVEMENT even though it really feels like I have to. Horrible product, and I will never try again."

For Constipation "I had to share because only a few others seem to have had this experience. I drank a cup of Smooth Move tea before bed, no big deal. I was constipated. I woke up at 7 a.m. the next day, my heart was pounding out of my chest, I was sweating profusely and so hot. Got up, I was red, like sunburn red. Got so dizzy, almost blacked out. The doctor said it was the niacin that I've been taking for 7 months. Fast forward to last night, I drank it again. Heart pounding, crazy anxiety, ready to black out. I haven't taken my niacin all week. I now believe it is the Smooth Move. This is serious stuff, I would never recommend."

Senna for Constipation "Worse experience EVER. Took this med for the first time and then 2/3 hrs later I was buckled over with the worst cramps EVER, then I started sweating so bad drips of water were coming down my face. I couldn't get comfortable and kept screaming and moaning. Hurt so bad I had to call my mother who was outside because I felt like I was dying and I'm 55 years old!!! My BP started going high and had my mother call an ambulance. Right after that I took 2 muscle relaxers, BP meds, and a Klonopin because I figured if I calmed down myself first from the panic I felt I'd at least get rid of THAT feeling. Never again will I take this...0 effective. I'm a person who goes once maybe twice a month. I'd rather be constipated than feel the way this made me feel!!!!!"

First 2 hours made me poop golf balls, after that, straight liquid. 4 pills total, about 24 hours apart. I was very close to calling 911, I was so sick and in so much pain. Senna for Constipation "Oh my God, I never write reviews, but this made me feel like I was going to die! I took it at 6 PM, and by 10 PM, I was having heart palpitations and chest pain, and the sweating started. I had to open a window, and I stayed up all night 'cause I was too scared to go to sleep! By the morning, I had constant diarrhea that lasted all day! So yes, it helped to relieve my bowels, but I won’t be taking it again."

For Constipation "Read many comments here wondering if anyone has had this experience. The bottle said to take 2 at night for up to 7 days. BM came after about 14 hours, preceded by mild lower abdominal cramping. I decided to take 2 more days to be sure everything was out. 2nd dose pain got worse, but I continued to poop. Third night, I decided to only take one. Up all night in the bathroom with intense pain. Felt like I needed to go but couldn't. Leaned forward using the counter and jiggled my belly by bouncing my knees. After an hour, explosive diarrhea came. Lasted most of the day and the pain continued off and on, awful, debilitating. It's now a week later and I'm still having bouts of pain. Kept me up all night last night, and this time there was severe nausea along with dry heaves and sweating. I feel like senna has upset the balance of my system so badly it may never heal. On top of that, constipation is back. But the jiggling while in pain eventually causes the ex. diarrhea again."

Senna for Bowel Preparation "Took 1 pill at 6 PM. Woke up expecting the need to go, but nothing happened. Then around 1 PM, I'm hit with cold sweats and bad cramping pains. Would not recommend."
