For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I also have type 2 diabetes and take Jardiance. I was very unsure if I wanted to take this drug or not because of all the possible side effects. I have been on it now for over a month and have been very lucky that the side effects have been minimal. For the first couple of weeks, I had a little fatigue, mild headache, and a little constipation, but taking magnesium nightly has helped with that. As long as I eat healthy and small portions, all is great. My brain is no longer obsessed with eating, and worrying about what my next unhealthy snack is going to be. All my sugar cravings are gone, and blood sugars are at a 5. In the last 5 weeks, I have lost 13 lbs. I started at 0.25mg and am now at 0.5mg. I do the injection in my stomach, as it is totally painless there. It is not covered by my insurance and is on the pricey side, $266.00 Canadian, every six weeks, but it works for me, so I will continue taking it."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I was prescribed for tending to, if not into type 2 Diabetes, as well as to reduce cardiovascular risk. The positives: reduced A1C and fasting blood glucose. My weight fell nearly 60 lbs, and my body mass index reduced to normal from obese. The negative: severe constipation, almost blockage. I developed voice issues - raspy voice like a whisper - and had trouble making myself heard. This was disabling. The ENT specialist I saw said that my vocal cords had thinned down from normal. He tried to attribute it to rapid weight loss. Still unresolved voice/vocal cord condition. Very rapid weight loss led to sagging skin. My face looks gaunt/hollowed. It's not clear whether the course of medication led to muscle loss. I am getting physical therapy for balance and restoring muscle just to be able to do normal chores requiring balance to avoid possible injury."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I was prescribed Ozempic to help with weight loss I am pre diabetic and failed Gastric Sleeve surgery. Started at 240 pounds and after the 3rd injection of 1mg am now 228lbs. I was concerned that I was started right off the bat with 1mg. My only side effect is constipation. I took the advice of the people on this blog and injected it in my thigh. I heard it minimizes the side effects. I have lost more weight with this medication than I lost with my Gastric Sleeve. I lost nothing with the sleeve and I still felt hungry. With Ozempic there is full control of my appetite and lost all taste for sugar."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I've been on Ozempic for 6 weeks, four doses of .25ml and two doses of .5ml cost $5.90 per month. I'm also taking Jardiance and 2000mg of Metformin. I've lost 7kgs (15.4lbs) in 4 weeks. I was concerned about constipation as I've had major problems when I was younger, increasing my daily water in take fixed that. My Doctor always said the body will not function properly without lots of water. Fibre is also very important. First 4 weeks of Ozempic I lost 7kg (15.4lbs) 10 days later total loss of 8.1kg (17.87lbs). I have injected in my thighs from day one and I've had no side affects at all."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I was put on Ozempic for Insulin Resistance and PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) I take my 3rd dose of 0.25 tomorrow. The 1st week taking it I had immediate loss of appetite and mild-severe nausea. The struggle with constipation is still ongoing. I would say overall I just felt yucky. Took 2 doses before my body mellowed out and the nausea went away. I find big meals overwhelming now and I recommend eating healthy snacks more frequently throughout the day (due to loss of appetite). Will up dose to 0.5 in 2 weeks and nervous that the side effects will return but hoping not. So far lost 3lbs but my weight fluctuates up and down 5lbs regularly so not sure yet if it is the Ozempic or not."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have type 2 diabetes and I am obese. I started this medication in November 2023. I stopped using it for three months due to a shortage in the market in my country. I used 0.25mg for the first month, 0.5mg for the next three months, and 1mg for two months. The last dose of 1mg was taken on May 17, 2024. In November, I weighed 91kg, and I have reached 75kg or perhaps even less now. For my health, I feel significantly better while working or going upstairs. Regarding side effects, I experienced tiredness, vomiting, headaches, nausea, constipation, and stomach pain."

"I have been on Ozempic 0.5 dose for about 3 months now. I started slow and steady with 0.25 for an month and then moved up to 0.5. I was pre-diabetic and had higher blood pressure and was considered obese, because of my height, 5'4, 180lbs. I had tried everything to lose weight; diet, exercise, lifestyle changes and absolutely nothing worked because I was what my doctor called "insulin resistant". I was actually gaining weight while working incredibly hard to lose it. Now I am down to 165lbs and I feel better than I have in years. I had experienced slight side effects for about a month, cramping, constipation, nausea but all of those have subsided. I basically can not eat the same amount I use to, and I definitely have majorly cut back on the sweets. I have refocused on my health and healthier eating habits and this was a step in the right direction for me. I am grateful for it!"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made in my life was starting this drug. You will be sicker than you ever have been from any other drug. My doctor started me out at 1mg (what was she thinking???) and my life has been miserable ever since. I can't eat. I can't sleep. I can't work. I am so exhausted I can hardly drive. Horrible constipation, horrible nausea, dizziness, an all over feeling of general unwellness. I took it for 2 weeks and quit. I quit a week ago and am still waiting to have a bowel movement. Still waiting for the sickness to go away. Still waiting to be able to lift my head off my pillow. This is an absolute terrible drug for me. I'm going to find something else. This is not living. I'm also going to find another doctor. Shame on her for starting me on this stuff."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Off label for weight loss. Overall very happy, in 10 weeks have lost 13 lbs. with minimal side effects. Now on the 1mg dose for 2 weeks and no increase in side effects. First couple of weeks there were some intestinal issues, gas, cramps and constipation but they have cleared up and over all I feel much better than before. The 5% weight lose has increased my energy. Weight lose has been gradual and fairly steady, just what you want."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Many side effects: constant headaches, nausea, flatulence, lightheadedness, blurred vision, tiredness, poor sleep, distended abdomen, constipation, chills, and bouts of sweating. I have been taking Ozempic for the past 7 weeks and will continue to do so in the hope these side effects will dissipate over time. Right now, despite these side effects, I am continuing with Ozempic because the medicine is controlling my sugar levels beautifully. I am keeping my fingers crossed."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have been on it for about a year now. So far I haven't had much in the way of side effects. The only thing I have noticed is some nausea and reduced appetite especially when I increase the dose. Constipation also has been an issue off and on. I have experienced the bonus of weight loss while on it losing 27 pounds so far. It has definitely helped my blood sugar as I have been able to reduce the amount of insulin needed by 6 units so far and it is rare I need to use any shorter acting insulin at all. Pleased with my results so far."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Almost immediately my appetite was dramatically reduced. Food still appeals, but I eat more slowly and much less. Midnight snacks have dropped to near zero. Minor nausea, and minor constipation, neither require medication. I have lost 5 lbs in the first 10 days, down from 240 to 235. I am a 70 yo white male, 5' 11", reasonably active."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Today marks day 6 on .5 of Ozempic, and I feel like it is working. I have a severe insulin resistance problem and haven't seen my numbers down into the 100's in way too long. My problems with Ozempic is that I can't eat. I'll take a few bites of whatever and get very nauseous and then a tummy ache. I did gain 20lb in 2 months with the insulin use and feel like I'm losing the weight with Ozempic but a little concerned that I'll gain it back fast later. Oh and constipation was settling in but the only thing I've wanted to eat are cold prunes! Hahaha! So problem solved. Burps? No unfortunately, I can't burp! I have the feeling of wanting to but nothing. Anyone else?"

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I have completed two months on Ozempic for weight loss. I started with .25 for 4 weeks, then .50 for 4 weeks and have just had my first 1ml injection. I have lost 1 kg in 2 months. The side effects are slight nausea and constipation. I don't qualify for subsidised medication and so it costs me $132 AU per month. I am going to give it another month and if there is no weight loss I shall give up."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Within the first two to three months on the lowest dose, I lost 15 pounds. During the nine months using Ozempic, my weight loss varied from 15 to 21 pounds. In my last three months, I was using the 1mg per week dosage. This drug helped satisfy any hunger and stopped the feeling of needing to snack. Most days, I had no appetite and had to force myself to eat. Due to side effects of vomiting, stomach upset, constipation, loose bowels, indigestion, and dizziness, I have stopped taking Ozempic and feel great again. Not being sick is a good thing. It may help some people but was not good for me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on Ozempic 0.25mg for 2 weeks now. The first one I injected into my abdomen. I fell asleep and woke up nauseous. I had intermittent nausea, empty burping, and slight constipation for the next few days. I took the homeopathic medicine Nux vomica 200C as needed (dissolve a pellet in 1/2 cup water and take a small sip, letting it rest under the tongue, stirring 10 times before each dose) and the nausea was much better. Better than taking another drug. I had read that these effects are smaller if you inject into the thigh, so I did that next dose at night and took the Nux vomica before bed. I have had almost zero nausea this week. I have lost 6.5 lbs so far, although I have had some hunger this week. I eat very cleanly – low fat, low carb, protein, and vegetables at each meal. Eat Quest bars if you want something sweet/low carb/high protein and fiber. Also, exercise is key. These are crucial to learning to keep the weight off afterward."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Initially began Ozempic 0.25mg for 4 weeks. Side effects were tiredness, constipation. My fasting blood sugar numbers were lower in the morning. When I began the 0.50mg dose @5 weeks, I had nausea, dizziness, and lethargy the day following first dose. The second day following that dose I felt about 70% better. With the 2nd dose of 0.50mg side effects were less severe, some minor nausea, headaches and the tiredness continued. I hope that these side effects disappear. I plan to take this medication until I get my 3-month labs, and I expect that my A1c will be down significantly. It was at 5.9 in July of 2017. Due to the stress of caring for a dying relative Sept. through Dec. it jumped to 9.3. At my next appt my doctor suggested I try Ozempic in combination with Metformin 500mg @2x/day. I received a 3-mo. discount card and have not yet checked with my health insurance provider to see if it will be covered. I am an active 61 year old female but type two diabetes does run in my mother’s family."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started taking Ozempic in October 2022 for weight loss. Started with 0.5 mg for one month and then increased it to 1mg. For the first few months, the only side effects were constipation and loss of appetite. However, after a couple of months, I started getting abdominal pains in the upper right quadrant that extended to my back, between my shoulders. The pains would manifest a day or two after the shots and last several hours. It was worse during standing or walking and not a problem when sitting. At the same time, the effectiveness of the drug for weight loss was reduced and I stopped losing weight. With the combination of the side effects and the lack of weight loss, I started reducing the dosage. I went from 1 mg to .75 to .5 mg. The side effects continued but were reduced in intensity and duration. Eventually, I stopped taking ozempic in April 2023. After two weeks without the drug, the abdominal pain is almost gone. Total weight loss was 50 lbs."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have been on this medication for 10 months. I started with .25 for 4 weeks then increased to my prescribed dose of .5 My doctor and pharmacist correctly recommended this gradual increase. However after beginning the .5 I became very nauseous, had diarrhea and or constipation, terrible headaches and all around lethargy. It was awful. I toughed it out for 2 weeks but that was it. At the advice of my pharmacist who happens to be a diabetic counselor I went back down to .25 for a couple weeks then very gradually increased my dose. A few extra clicks of the pen each week until I reached .5. Success!! Now I have no side effects and have lost 25 lbs, which is a significant amount for me. My appetite is very low and I just don't experience any cravings that I used to. My guess is this very slow, gradual, almost click by click increase may be effective for a lot of people. I have read through many of these reviews and cannot imagine jumping right in with a .5 however I am not a doctor so..."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Been on Ozembic 3 months. I hate this mess. I’m constantly throwing up (not good just bile). I’ve never been so weak in my life. Since taking the drug I constantly pass out even though I’ve had to decrease my long term insulin. I’ve consulted with my doctors and they keep saying let my body become accustom to the med. The erratic bowel issues are insane. One day I’m so bloated from constipation, 2 days later I have diarrhea. Not much I can eat without throwing up. I honestly don’t know how much longer I can do this."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I started this drug to try and lower my A1C which had climbed to 7.2. My Nurse Practitioner put me on it. She showed me how to do the injections but no warnings of side effects. I took .25 dose for 4 weeks suffering pain in stomach that radiated to my back. Absolutely no craving to eat anything at all. Had constipation. Then I went to .5 injection and was fine for a bit until severe nausea began with dizziness and vomiting. I thought I was going to be the end of me because then the unrelenting diarrhea began. I waited days in bed so very ill and decided to quit this awful medication. I have lost 6 pound and my morning glucose numbers are 107 it lower but feeling this deathly ill just isn't worth it. I quit the medication, though I understand it could take 5 weeks to leave my body. Beware of this drug."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I am a 68 year old male with Type 2 diabetes. I tried Ozempic .025 low dose, to also lose weight. Have been on it for 5 weeks and have had upset stomach and constipation since the beginning. Only lost 6 lbs. To me the side effects of always feeling sick and not hungry, which for me led to tiredness and fatigue, even tho I take vitamins, is definitely not worth it. Blood sugar went down below 100 for the first 3 weeks but has gone back to upper normal, 140-150 since then. Not worth it to feel sick all the time. I am quitting this stuff."
