For Diabetes, Type 2 "This medication has made me so sick. I’m on 0.25 and I have been on it a month. Every week, 2 days after injection, I get really bad burps. They smell like rotten eggs, I get a headache, I can’t eat. I was so excited to take this because of all the weight loss stories, however the side effects for me are terrible. I’m going to stop it and just continue with my metformin."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I started this medication 4 months ago at the 0.25 dose. I upped the dose to 0.5 three weeks ago and on the third week the symptoms started. Horrible nausea, vomit burps, and relentless diarrhea. I’ve lost 4 pounds in three days. I reached out to my doctor and she prescribed something for the diarrhea...it’s helped some, but I’m tired of feeling bad. I missed two days of work this week because I couldn’t be too far from the bathroom! My A1C went from 8.6 to 6.2 which is awesome, but there has to be something else to take without the side effects! She told me to hold my metformin until the diarrhea stopped and not to take the Ozempic next week. Don’t think I’m going to take it ever again."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Dr. put me on this medication for weight loss, I’m not diabetic. 4 weeks on .25 everything was a breeze, didn’t feel any side effects. Went up to .50 after a month and it’s been horrible ever since (had it Thursday, and it is 4 days since my injection; it is now Monday). It started with severe vertigo that laid me out for a whole day and a half. Saturday felt a bit better but still not right. Sunday felt dizzy spells still coming and going and acid reflux with constant burping, just off and not myself. Today, Monday I’ve had diarrhea, no desire to eat and I’ve been completely exhausted and still nauseous and dizzy. I actually couldn’t take the nausea anymore so I finally threw up and I could actually taste medicine coming up. Now, here I am in bed once again waiting to see what’s next for me."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "OMG ... it’s not me. Dr started me at .5 of Ozempic, first day after injection pretty much okay, then came nausea, stomach ache, headaches then just dulled, gassy (didn’t know the burps were part of it but that increased), diarrhea, feeling beyond blah. I went to work and struggled through the day for 4 days like this. The first week wasn’t sure if it was the shot or some food so I tried the Ozempic again. The second week was a little better, so I decided I’ll try the smaller dose. Today is day 2 but this morn, there’s the nausea, stomach ache, little bit of headache, but lesser amounts. Despite the thought of weight loss, might be heading back to Januvia (Farxiga got the yeast infection but it was cheap, $15 for 90 with insurance)"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have been on Ozempic for 2 months. Serious diarrhea and increased my acid reflux quite a bit. Very unpleasant burping. I have lost 4 pounds and I am seldom hungry, I eat out of habit and stress relief. My symptoms are not severe, but I simply feel miserable, like the flu. I want to give the drug more time to see if I start feeling better, but it is so tempting to trash the stuff. My morning blood sugars are pretty good, will get an A1C letter this month and I expect it to be down. I hope that will be incentive to stay with the drug."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Today marks day 6 on .5 of Ozempic, and I feel like it is working. I have a severe insulin resistance problem and haven't seen my numbers down into the 100's in way too long. My problems with Ozempic is that I can't eat. I'll take a few bites of whatever and get very nauseous and then a tummy ache. I did gain 20lb in 2 months with the insulin use and feel like I'm losing the weight with Ozempic but a little concerned that I'll gain it back fast later. Oh and constipation was settling in but the only thing I've wanted to eat are cold prunes! Hahaha! So problem solved. Burps? No unfortunately, I can't burp! I have the feeling of wanting to but nothing. Anyone else?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on Ozempic 0.25mg for 2 weeks now. The first one I injected into my abdomen. I fell asleep and woke up nauseous. I had intermittent nausea, empty burping, and slight constipation for the next few days. I took the homeopathic medicine Nux vomica 200C as needed (dissolve a pellet in 1/2 cup water and take a small sip, letting it rest under the tongue, stirring 10 times before each dose) and the nausea was much better. Better than taking another drug. I had read that these effects are smaller if you inject into the thigh, so I did that next dose at night and took the Nux vomica before bed. I have had almost zero nausea this week. I have lost 6.5 lbs so far, although I have had some hunger this week. I eat very cleanly – low fat, low carb, protein, and vegetables at each meal. Eat Quest bars if you want something sweet/low carb/high protein and fiber. Also, exercise is key. These are crucial to learning to keep the weight off afterward."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I started on 0.25 for four weeks, had nausea, dizziness, burping non stop everyday, off the wall gas and bloating. Went on 0.5 more or less same side effects accept more abdominal pain. Then went to 1 mg my skin started feeling like I had bad sunburn from waist up. It hurt when clothes touched it. Four weeks later went on 2mg. All same symptoms Then I started having severe neck pain and shoulder pain. Was on 8 months and only lost 16 pounds. A1c went 7.5 to 5.5 but a lot had to do to eating less. I have EPI so it was not worth it to me to take it anymore. Also thyroid cancer runs in my family. Had a friend tell me her friend got thyroid cancer after 3 months..also had lot diarrhea. Now I'm off no symptoms, skin feels better and sugar around 130."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Discontinued Trulicity because no results. 2 weeks Ozempic at 0.25, then bumped to 0.50. A1C went from 8.8 to 7.6. No weight loss. Went up to 1 mg dose last month. Was given OK to try 2 mg if I wanted but on backorder. Noticed dizziness at exercise class when getting up and had a few days of thigh pain as others have mentioned. Sometimes dinner just sits on my stomach and middle of the night burping and vomiting. Morning numbers are much better."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "My very first injection has made me deathly ill. The nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, most intense hunger pains, cramping, sulphur burps that make you want to throw up, and just generally feeling miserable. The thought of food most of the time has made me want to throw up. I can't take my other meds most of the time because I end up vomiting. All this while trying to work full time. I have tried Trulicity which made me very sick, Victoza put me in the emergency room. Ozempic has me close to the emergency room if I end up dehydrated. This is how I imagine being poisoned would feel like. Medicine should not make you feel this bad. No illness that I have had has made me feel this horrible. If you have any kind of stomach issues really, I have GERD, Think twice before injection this nasty "medication"."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have taken 7 doses of Ozempic. The first week wasn't too bad. A little nausea and fatigue. I did feel like my food stuck in my throat and every time I burped there it was. As I continued to take it each week the side effects got worse. I was just diagnosed with diabetes in May, and since then I've been able to come off of my insulin on my own, before Ozempic. I still take Metformin twice a day. This past week, the seventh dose made me so sick!! If I wasn't nauseous every day I was running to the bathroom all hours of the day and night. I had horrible heartburn, gas, burping, jitters and dizziness the whole time and thought I could continue but after this past week my doctor said to come off of it. It will take a while to get out of my system I know, but I hope it does so quickly. I need my life back!!"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I've been on Ozempic for three years. Started with a .25 dose, then a .5 dose and this week started a 1.0 dose and throughout taking Ozempic, and before it, I also take Xigduo. I feel sick, nauseated, disgusted by food and smells of food, and more recently extreme gas at both ends...both smell like rotting garbage or sulfur. Nothing helps with any symptoms. Gas reliever just means more gas and vomit burps. I have diarrhea regularly. My count is down to 6.9, but what is the point of taking something that clearly hinders my enjoyment of life. I'm really NOT bagging on this drug, it does what is supposed to, but I wish there were a way to stop the side effects. If anyone has ideas, please share!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been taking for over a month. No side effects for the first 2 weeks on the lower dose. Since I am using the higher dose now - I have had some very bad nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Also lots of burping and it smells terrible. When I have vomited - it is sooo much volume. More than anytime in my life. It has reduced my appetite but if I drink alcohol, it usually makes me physically sick."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I am in my late 50s, but I feel young for my age. I have always maintained a decent body, but my health has deteriorated over the years. I gained more weight than I should have due to a prescription drug called Seroquel that I was taking under the care of my previous doctor. However, my new doctor discovered that I had borderline type 2 diabetes, and my legs were starting to hurt. Five weeks ago, I weighed 182 lbs, but I have now lost 23 lbs and weigh 159 lbs. This weight loss has been made possible by a medication called Ozempic, which has been a godsend for me. It does exactly what it promises to do by making me feel full throughout the day. Even if I eat a muffin in the morning, I cannot eat for the rest of the day. The only side effects I have experienced are sulfur burps, gas, and nausea two days after injection. I am supposed to increase my dosage to 1 mg, but I plan to stay on 5 mg for a few more weeks. I have noticed that a few days after my injection, which is every Wednesday, I feel sick, but I have not vomited. I have stocked up on Gravol and Gas-X, which have been very helpful. I am thrilled to have lost 30 lbs in just five weeks!"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have a worst case scenario. Side effects include painful abdomen, bloating, extreme gas both in upper digestive processing (gas - burping) and lower intestinal (flatulence). It is extreme and not socially acceptable. I had gastroparesis prior to taking Ozempic. I have severe constipation as an effect as well."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I started on Ozempic when my health professional informed me I was pre-diabetic and had high cholesterol. Because I wanted to lose some weight, I asked her if I could try Ozempic and she agreed to write the prescription for me. I've been on Ozempic since mid-April 2023 and I've had some success. I've lost 8 pounds since starting but like many people, I've experienced nasty side effects, for example, sulfur burps, gas, and stomach discomfort. Although I've had these side effects, they have not been that serious and I'm able to deal with them. I've tried increasing my dose to .5 mg but the side effects got worse and considering that my appetite and my cravings have decreased, I've decided to stay at .25 mg. I do find, however, that the day before my next dose, my appetite comes back. I need to be more mindful when that happens and old habits are hard to change. I see a dietitian to help me plan balanced meals. In conclusion, I've stuck with Ozempic."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I started taking Ozempic at 0.025 mg for two months, primarily relying on meal replacements for diabetes twice a day along with a small amount of cereal (grape nuts). During those two months, I lost 30 pounds. However, I experienced dizzy spells because I was also taking high blood pressure medication. Once I stopped the blood pressure medication, the dizziness went away. I then increased my Ozempic dosage to 0.050 mg, and that's when things took a turn for the worse. I started having sulfur burps (long and frequent belching), excessive gas, diarrhea, and if I overate cereal, I would vomit. Even if I didn't eat anything, I would still experience vomiting. I lowered the insulin dosage and it improved. After a month, I was able to handle the 0.050 mg dosage. Later, I increased it to 1 mg. At this point, I wasn't losing weight anymore, but I experienced hunger pains and started eating other things. On and off, I would have episodes of diarrhea, belching, and gas. Additionally, I started experiencing pain under both sides of my ribs, bloating, belching, diarrhea, and gas. I had bloodwork done, which revealed that my thyroid levels were significantly off. I am scheduled for an ultrasound to examine my thyroid, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, and GI tract, among others."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of my use of Ozempic. While taking it, I experienced some side effects such as unpleasant burps, occasional diarrhea (1-2 times per week), and temporary gastroparesis (which subsided after two months). However, the medication also had some positive effects, as my appetite decreased and I lost 60 pounds since beginning the treatment. Unfortunately, it did take a toll on my wallet, and I eventually had to switch from my hospital/GP to getting it online by telehealth from semalean. My son has also started taking it, and I would recommend it to anyone who is curious, but only if they are willing to see if the side effects apply to them. If they do not, and the treatment is affordable or covered by insurance, it can be truly amazing."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I started this drug 8 weeks ago. Didn't know what to expect. The first 2 weeks were a nightmare. With burping sulphur, constant diarrhoea, feeling sick, not able to eat. Its settled after 4 weeks but then increased to .50 dose and symptoms started again. I am loosing weight and diabetes readings are coming down. It's working but dreadful side effects. It does help to eat smaller portions. Will stay on it another while but not sure long term."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Type 2 diabetic with recent congestive heart failure (Nov 2021). Age 53. I am carrying some extra weight but not a massive amount. Most A1c readings had been between 6.5 and 7.5. I keep my diabetes control tight as I love my eyesight and feet. May of 2023, got an A1c of 12.9. I knew something had been off (excessive thirst and some odd weight gain) but we had a recent and very stressful move cross country and I had started a new job. In fact, I couldn’t find my glucometer because it was still packed somewhere. Anyway, started Ozempic in addition to insulin and Metformin for control. As far as lowering my A1c? Amazing. In November 2023, my A1c is 6.3. Holy hell, y'all. Cut it in half. I've lost about ten pounds. Wasn’t looking to be ultra-thin and the little weight loss is nice, but I am most concerned about the drop in A1c. It did the job. Now, the downside. I was so sick feeling for a long time. Indigestion, burping, farting, bad heartburn, constipation, nausea. For 5 months."
