"I have been on Metformin for many years and A1C kept climbing. My doctor prescribed Ozempic. I started at 0.25mg once per week for 4 weeks which really decreased my appetite. I continued with 0.5mg for the second month with no side effects. Now, I am on the maximum dose of 2.0mg per week for the last 4 months and have lost a total of 25 lbs. My main problem was constipation, but once I started taking 1 dose of Miralax per day, eating Raisin Bran, fruits, more vegetables, and drinking lots of water, it cleared up. I also asked my doctor to prescribe Zofran for nausea, and everything is great! I take the Zofran in the morning and prevent the nausea altogether. I have never read a review where anyone mentioned taking steps to help with their side effects, so I thought I'd share what works for me! I have gone down 2 pants sizes after losing just 25 lbs, my A1C is down from 6.4 to 5.7, and my cholesterol and triglycerides are normal. It's a game-changer; just make sure to discuss with your doctor to prevent nausea and constipation for an amazing experience!"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Started with .25 for 4 weeks than .5 after that. I don't have much of an appetite, which is good because I do need to lose weight. I can not finish a portion of food I usually eat. I have pain, burping and constipation daily. I am OK in morning when I wake up and after breakfast (eggs, or oatmeal, or yogurt). I usually eat lunch-supper at 2-3 pm. The real pain and burning start 3-4 hours later and lasts till I go to bed. If I drink water it gets worse. When I lay in bed the pain goes away. I have not had problems with indigestion so I wonder if this is causing it? I worry about kidney and pancreatitis. I will see my MD this coming week and discuss all this with him. I lost 10 lbs and my A1C went from 10.3 to 9.1. Wonder how long it takes for the A1C to get below 7?"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I started with 0.25 Ozempic in November 2020 and upped my dosage to 0.5 in January 2021. My a1c is the same as when I was taking 2000mg Metformin daily (5.1-5.3%). My Dr decided to switch me to help with weight loss and manage my pre-diabetes. I have lost 47lbs, which is great but it isn't a healthy way to lose weight. I met with a GI specialist and was diagnosed with Gastroparesis, they had me discontinue Ozempic to see if my symptoms would disappear. That was 6 weeks ago and my stomach is still paralyzed. I have sulphur burps, diarrhoea, severe constipation and vomiting daily. I now have to eat a low FODMAP diet and can only manage a few mouthfuls of food at a time. I have no quality of life anymore, I can no longer enjoy many of the things I used to which has caused me severe anxiety and depression. While the weight loss benefits sound appealing, please think twice before taking this drug."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "My dr put me on Ozempic to lower my blood sugar & A1c as everytime I check my blood sugar it’s extremely high in the 2 & 300’s. So that is why my dr put my on Ozempic. The beginning of the year before the med my A1c was 10.8 my blood sugar was in the 200’s. It’s 5 weeks later I went to the dr this week got my sugar checked it was 72 I couldn’t believe it plus my A1c is 8.2 & I lost 5lbs, in just a short period. I take my shot every Sunday .25 the day after I take the shot I do experience some nausea headaches & constipation but it’s only for 1 day but it’s worth it for these low numbers. I was scared to take this new drug because I already take metformin 1000mg once a day but I’m so happy my dr introduced me to this medicine. If you guys can get through the side effects keep taking it this medicine really works"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Everyone gets the same side effects: sulfur burps, intense pain once a week - before #2, heartburn, diarrhea (from fatty or dairy foods), and constipation. More side effects which I might have not mentioned or remember while typing this review. Maybe forgetfulness, shivers, etc. However, for me, benefits outweigh the side effects! But, that’s me. This has always been important to me. Lose weight, feel confident, feel light, and have better health. I experienced every single side effect. Just because I decided to stay on this medication, and it’s been 3+ years, Doesn't mean that I didn’t experience my share of side effects. Fried food, alcohol, fatty foods and drinks will definitely start the side effects - which no one seems to notice. When we stay off those foods, and keep hydrated, one coffee a day, and no alcohol, We may not experience an extreme version of the side effects. It keeps you away from such foods and drinks by even making them unattractive."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I had high hopes for this drug and stuck with it as long as I could but it caused severe constipation, stomach cramping and fatigue. I started out with .25 mg for 4 weeks then .50 for 2 weeks. I didn’t lose weight so my doctor increased the dose to 1 mg but I just couldn’t tolerate the side effects at the lower doses so I didn’t even try the 1 mg."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I am on my 3rd month of taking Ozempic. No decrease in A1C as of yet. Weight loss, none. Ease of use, I find handling the needles cumbersome. The needles are smaller than Trulicity and less painful to inject. Less bruising at injection site. Current side effects: Nausea, stomach pain, stomach discomfort, swelling, bloating, increased constipation, increased hunger, sour stomach, headaches. I find I am forced to take additional medication/supplements in attempting to eliminate some of the side effects. I've taken stool softeners and laxatives in order to improve constipation with limited success. I am taking pain reliever almost daily for headaches. I am also taking medication to help ease the nausea with limited success."

"I have been on Ozempic for 5 full months to help me loss weight. In that time I have lost exactly 60 pounds (I had about 100 to loose). I was on .25 mg for 6 weeks, moved up to .5 mg thereafter, and have been on 1 mg for the past 4 weeks. I certainly experience stomach pains, headaches, absolutely no appetite, severe constipation, full almost immediately after eating more than 3-4 bites, and I am not sleeping as well. As of right now, the benefits are outweighing the negatives. I do not plan to stay on Ozempic long term because the possible thyroid cancer/tumors scare me. I am nervous upon stopping Ozempic that the weight gain will come right back."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "2024 I am 75 years old and my doctor prescribed Ozempic for me. My A1C was 7.6 and climbing. I was overweight and could not keep the weight off even with exercise. My first dose was 0.5 mg, which I injected into my stomach. I was very sick after that - nausea and just feeling sick. So, I Googled the medication and found out I could inject it into my thigh, so I did that the next time - no symptoms this time. I have been on it for about 5 months now. My last A1C was 6.3, and I have lost weight. At times, I still have symptoms of nausea and constipation, but they go away. The worst one is low libido, and that's hard to fix. Also, muscle wasting - you must exercise to keep your muscles strong. Loss of energy might be due to eating less. I only eat small meals throughout the day. I hope this review was able to help."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I always had some side effects of Ozempic. Mainly exhaustion, nauseous, occasional throwing up after eating, constipation. As month 3 came and the dose increased to 1mg, I ended up in the Emergency room. I was vomiting and had liquid diarrhea for 4 days. My heart rate was elevated and my potassium was dangerously low. At the time, I thought it was a stomach bug-until the next injection caused the same effects. I've been on ant-nausea medication since. I can see why it takes the appetite away-being exhausted and nauseous 24/7 is terrible. Potassium is still not where it should be. Hoping this gets out of my system fast."

I took the last injection on Friday that problem did not clear up not clear up until, late Tuesday afternoon. I did call the doctor he put me on antibiotics, There is no reversal for this medication. For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I have been battling hypoactive thyroid and autoimmune disease for several years. I gained weight with hypoactive thyroid (apparently it can happen to some people) and even more with all the medication and medication side effects. My doctors decided to put me on Ozempic to aid with the uncontrollable weight gain. I have just started, it is day 6 for me and so far no side effects apart from some constipation but this can be attributed to eating way less. I am going to be on a low dose for the first 4-6 weeks, so we started with 0.25 mg. Already a couple of hours after the injection I had lost my appetite, I suddenly view sweets and white bread/pastries/pasta as inedible plastic, I have zero cravings, I can drink just a half a glass of water OR have just a couple of olives OR a small piece of goat cheese and I feel full (as if my stomach has shrunk into a tiny one) and do not want to eat for hours or at all, so I have reminders set that I need to have a bite. It feels amazing."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am going on week 11 with Ozempic, and have lost 24 pounds. I have had all 5 of the main side effects, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. I am happy with the weight loss, so am learning to manage these. By trial and error I've found that I can't eat much at one time (don't really want to), need to avoid fatty foods, drink lots of fluids and take Senna laxative every night for the constipation, and keep Zofran around to help with nausea. Yes, these first few weeks have been difficult, but the weight loss is worth it to me. Plus, the side effects get less the longer I'm on Ozempic. I am currently on 1.0mg, and think that's quite enough. I am rarely hungry, and often have to make myself eat. I hope to lose 65 pounds total."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Absolutely horrific. I get it works for most people, but unfortunately not me (and should not be promoted as a miracle drug that can help all obese people lose weight, as it doesn't work for everyone). I took 0.25 (the smallest dose) for 3 weeks and nothing (I yo yo'ed with my weight; lost a bit then gained it again) . After 3 weeks (not sure why 3 weeks for me) the main side effects kicked in. Diarrhoea/loose stools, constipation, vomiting, nausea. Worst side effect was for 3 nights in a row, at about 3am I projectile vomited. First night I almost aspirated and choked on my own vomit trying to make it to the toilet without throwing up. Second night even though I had the bathroom bin next to my bed, I was still projectile vomiting and I couldn't sleep as I had a panic attack that I'd pass away overnight and my family would find me dead as I couldn't breathe as I had undigested food stuck in my oesophagus. Gave up after 5 weeks of the lowest dose"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "On 19 Dec 2022, I saw my medical provider and requested a prescription for Ozempic. She agreed that at 5’3” and weighing 192 lbs it would be a good option for me. I started Ozempic on 3 Jan 2023. The first time I weighed myself after starting Ozempic was at the beginning of February and I weighed 179 lbs. Through February my weight bounced between 181-175 then I lost another 5 lbs in the first two weeks of March. I’m hoping to reach 160 by mid-April. My weight goal is 130-135. I am very happy with Ozempic’s effect on my weight loss. I have had assorted side effects. I had two days of extreme headaches after my first dose but I’ve only had mild headaches with dosage increases since. My stomach is mild to moderately upset most of the time, and most of the time I don’t have much appetite. I’m at a 1mg/week dosage now and I’ve started having a lot of bad-tasting burps, but constipation is by far my worst side effect. I don’t know if I would have bowel movements without laxatives."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I took .25 for about 6 months and thought this was a miracle drug. Caused slight constipation, but I dealt with it. When they increased me to .5 mg, I started violently vomiting the next day. No one could figure out what was wrong with me. Pancreatic enzymes were high, but not high enough to diagnose pancreatitis. I could barely eat for two months. Gas, bloating, side pain, back pain, stomatitis pain, non-stop burping, constipation, nausea, vomiting off and on. My food perpetually felt like it was backed up into my mouth. They had to take me off of the drug and now my sugars are higher than ever and no one can help me. They were ok before, but now doctors consider me as failing two types of drug classes because of this, won't give me my old meds back, and I may have to go on insulin. I am gaining weight like never before and am so tired that I can barely function. They now believe it gave me gastroparesis and I can't get better. I would recommend this medicine to no one."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Two days after the injection I get a pretty bad headache, indigestion, and a bloated feeling that lasts the day. This week (6th shot) has been different. It’s the second week the dose was raised from .25mg to .5mg. I felt like I had to throw up. The indigestion, burping, constipation, sore muscles, aches, and heavy sweating all felt like I had a horrible flu. I stayed home from work. I went back to work today, when I normally get the headache, and had heavy sweating, burping, indigestion, cold clammy skin, bloating, diarrhea, and depression and anxiety (years since I had either one). Tonight I still have bloating, wrists and shoulders sore, and indigestion with burps. My neck is really stiff. The normal headache has started with a little dizziness. I am still debating what to do as this has been an effective medicine. My blood sugar has gone from 290 to 90 to 140 when I check it. I have lost weight as well."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have been on Ozempic for about a month and only problem I have is constipation and I take stuff for it. I love my blood sugar level is never reaches in the 200 and higher range and I love how I can't eat much anymore because before Ozempic I would eat but after each meal I still would be hungry and eat some more but since Ozempic I can't eat a whole lot. My meal portion really went down. I no longer can eat a whole chicken breast half a one with a small serving of cooked vegetables and if we have a T-bone steak half or even smaller size I cut off and eat rest the following day as two meals. Lost already 15 lbs and I feel wonderful and I have energy again too. Can't wait to see what my A1C is next month."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have been on Ozempic for 3 weeks. Yes, it is making me lose weight, obviously because I'm so nauseated all the time that I can't eat. I have stomach cramps, constipation, headaches, body aches, and nausea so severe that sometimes I can't even lift my head up. I'm really trying to give it a chance since a once a week injection seems better than taking a bunch of pills. I just don't know how much longer I can suffer with the terrible nausea and stabbing stomach pains."

Started on .25 in for 3 weeks with severe nausea and flu-like symptom for the first 1.5 weeks. Felt terrible. Only remaining symptoms are constipation and upset stomach if I make a bad food choice. I have been taking .5 since May, Dr not upping my dose to 1. Started taking Ozempic in April 2019 and was 193lbs and last week weighted in at 177.4lbs. Lots of people seem to have very severe symptoms but I have been lucky and have not had any issue with ongoing problems or anything serious enough to skip work or end up in a hospital."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I am using it for weight loss and so far after three months I’ve lost 10 pounds and have really lost belly fat. I still suffer some heartburn from it occasionally and some constipation but mild compared to at the beginning. Before this I tried everything to lose the weight I put on going through menopause including keto diet, intermittent fasting and a vegan diet. I also was doing high intensity interval training 4-6 times per week. Nothing worked until my specialist put me on ozempic. My one concern is in regard to my fingernails which have become quite discoloured (a dark yellow) since being on the medication. Has anyone else noted this side effect?"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I'm a 47 year old African American whom has battled with diabetes for over 25 years. In 2012, I had the Gastric Sleeve Surgery, I started off at 268lbs after surgery I went down to 207lbs..I also have severe retina disease which I have to get laser treatments every month. So my doctor was like try this medicine called Ozempic, I was extremely cautious and read up on the reviews. I started on .05 dosage around February 2019. And dropped down from 228lbs to 215lbs. I was a little nauseous the first week but it went away. Currently, I'm on 1.0 dosage a week down to 197lbs as of June 5, 2019. My A1C is 6.3, however I had to have another treatment on my eyes because the bleeding hasn't stopped. I'm so happy with Ozempic, however I losing weight so fast it makes me nervous. Then being a Gastric Sleeve Recipient helps even more to my advantage. I do experience constipation a lot. I'm not hungry but I do feel tired during the middle of the day."
