Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "Was on simvastatin for two years. Had angina and two stents put in. It has now been 5 months on Crestor 20mg and Brilinta. Went to cardio rehab for 12 weeks. During cardio rehab, I noticed how sore my hips were getting even hours later off the treadmill. The joint aches and muscle pain are all over my body. The cardio doctor thinks it's Brilinta and Crestor interaction, but all the other doctors say it's probably Crestor. I can't sleep at night and when I get up, I'm so stiff and sore all over. So I'm going to back off the Crestor and hope I can recover."

For High Cholesterol "I have been on rosuvastatin for about three years. It does work to lower cholesterol especially the LDL, but you need to eat healthy for this to take effect and get active. Still, this drug will cost you with some unwanted side effects... Elevated Liver Enzymes (for sure), I have joint pain in my pinky that hurts when I press, some foot pain and a weird feeling. The drug seems to know when I'm enduring it and so it says: 'you know what, maybe this isn't enough for you, so let me show you a new world of hurt' BAM!! Nausea, headaches, disrupted sleep, spiked blood pressure for hours, shivering, twitching, having me on the edge of the seat and making me wonder if it's the drug causing these side effects or not. Sometimes I'm afraid to fall asleep. Please consider your medical alternatives wisely."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "My LDL is high, HDL is low, and triglycerides are high. Dr. recommended Crestor 5 mg. Initially, I couldn't recognize the leg pain and numbness. I couldn't sleep for several nights while on this medicine for a few days. I stopped taking Crestor after reading its reviews, and that stopped my leg pain. I am 35 years old and decided to go with fish oil, a healthy diet, and exercise."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "Due to an elevated cholesterol, my doctor started me with Crestor 5mg that was quickly increased to 10mg. My LDL almost halved, while triglycerides doubled and total cholesterol fell from 7.2 to 4.6. For 3 years, regular liver function tests said all was okay. An acute event marked by fever, muscle aches, headache, dark urine, inability to sleep, and total loss of appetite prompted my doctor to order blood tests, an X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scan. I stopped taking Crestor immediately. The outcome of numerous tests could not apportion blame to flu, mosquito-borne causes, etc. Tests did show liver function had been walloped. The liver was diagnosed as fatty and enlarged - several markers had risen alarmingly! A month later, and liver function is much better."

Rosuvastatin for Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease "Took Crestor for four months and it lowered my cholesterol. Took it until my feet, shins, and calves went into cramps. Couldn't sleep, and could hardly walk. Cramps ended two days after quitting. Cardiologist put me on it and my family doc took me off it and told me never to take it again."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "Crestor was the worst medication for me. I developed hip pain, leg pain, knee pain, trouble moving around, tired, not sleeping, can't lay flat, and to top it off, it landed me in the ER with a swollen throat, trouble breathing, and a swollen neck. Let me not forget eye twitch. Such major bad reactions. Been off of it one day after being treated with IV and oral steroids. 85% better after one day. Looking forward to tomorrow."

For High Cholesterol "I took 5 mg for 2 nights. The morning of the third day, I woke up yelling from a nightmare at 5 am. I don't have nightmares or dreams, and I sleep well. My wrists and feet ached, and the back of my shoulders ached. I could barely use my hands, they hurt so bad. I got diarrhea. The aches went away by 3 pm. I still have diarrhea two days later. I stopped taking the pill. I did some research, and one of the rare side effects is sleep disturbance and nightmares. I called my doctor and left a message. Her assistant called me back and said the doctor has never heard of nightmares as a side effect and didn't feel it was related. I called the pharmacy. It is related. It is a rare side effect. I will not take this again. My aches have gone, I slept well last night, like I always do, and my diarrhea is better. This drug is not my answer."

For High Cholesterol "I started this medicine six months ago at a dose of 5 mg a day. I started having several side effects, including low energy, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, stomach pain, and insomnia. I talked to my doctor, and he reduced the dose to 5 mg every other day. Then I noticed losing weight and hair shedding, I'm unsure if it's related to this medication. Does anyone else experience weight loss and hair shedding? Thank you."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "Between Crestor and Lipitor, Lipitor was the one that gave me the side effects, cramps that felt like a UTI. Insomnia and a few other muscle pains here and there. Also felt it affected my libido. Doctor switched me to Crestor, so far, no side effects, maybe some bizarre dreams that some would describe as “nightmares,” but I love dreaming any type of dream.....lol....I believe finding the right statin might take a few different brands until you find the right one. I’m on 10 mg Crestor."

For High Cholesterol "CT Angiogram revealed 50% blockage in my widow-maker artery. I've been taking 20 mg of rosuvastatin for 13 days before I had bloodwork for an upcoming surgery. I had stopped drinking for the same time period and was watching what I ate, eliminating animal products and processed foods, eating more vegetarian meals. HOLY COW! My numbers went down by half! My doctor had recommended I start taking a 5 mg dose over a year ago, but I was too scared. (The 50% blockage diagnosis got my attention.) Not trying to promote a statin, but for me it worked awfully quick. I feel after 30 days I'm going to reduce my dose to half and test again while continuing to watch what I eat and drink. Cannot exercise due to an upcoming hernia operation. What made my numbers, which were high for years, go down so fast? I feel tired sometimes in the morning and have trouble sleeping through the night, so coffee is my new best friend, to a fault."

For High Cholesterol "I'm 57 and genetically predisposed to high cholesterol and heart conditions. Per the suggestion of a former GP, I started taking rosuvastatin at 5 mg a day several months ago. Since I started taking this medicine, my overall health has plummeted; I experience tremors, shakes, eye twitching, and muscle spasms constantly. I feel unbalanced when I stand up. I am irritable, lethargic, and have regular insomnia plus weight gain. This is the only medication I'm taking, so I'm wondering if these are 'side effects' of the drug or something more serious?!? I went to a new GP about my 'symptoms,' and she said, 'that's weird,' and then suggested I was depressed and prescribed me an anti-depressant - um, okay. I read the reviews here, and I stopped taking the meds on 8/1."
