"Side effects were overall muscular pain, especially at night. Burning hands sensation. Blood glucose levels (BGL) elevated. Dizziness to the point where I remained in my home, didn’t drive, or visit anyone. This aggravated my depression. I refuse to take this medication after about 3 months. Not worth the side effects."

"Rx'd rosuvastatin for high cholesterol (220 total). Started at 5mg, 10mg, 20mg, up to 40mg (daily), increasing monthly with periodic blood tests. After 6 months was told by my PCP to cease due to high levels of Creatine Kinase (900's) in my blood work. I experienced lower body muscle pain (hips, buttocks, thighs) with frequent spasms encompassing my entire leg. Total cholesterol dramatically reduced while taking (70's). Referred to Neurology for high CK and Cardiology for alternatives. Both say the risk of severe kidney damage is too high for any further statin use. Alternatives have similar effect and also not worth the risk. Cholesterol is back up to pre Rx levels and lower body muscle pain remains, most likely permanent, but spasms are rare. I'm in my late 50's, and very active/fit. Unfortunately, any statin is dangerous for me."

Rosuvastatin "Between Crestor and Lipitor, Lipitor was the one that gave me the side effects, cramps that felt like a UTI. Insomnia and a few other muscle pains here and there. Also felt it affected my libido. Doctor switched me to Crestor, so far, no side effects, maybe some bizarre dreams that some would describe as “nightmares,” but I love dreaming any type of dream.....lol....I believe finding the right statin might take a few different brands until you find the right one. I’m on 10 mg Crestor."

Rosuvastatin "Less than 7 days after beginning Crestor, I had debilitating muscle pain and weakness in my legs. 5 weeks following and treatment by a neurologist who prescribed Lyrica, I am beginning to regain strength in my legs, but I continue to have pain, especially on the right side."

"I have only been on this medicine for two weeks but have experienced severe pain in my abdomen and middle section, some depression, and just generally feel miserable. Am going to try to keep taking it 'til 3-month blood check but not sure I can. No cramps or joint pain."

Rosuvastatin "While Crestor reduced my cholesterol on the 10 mg dose, the side effects, including foggy thinking, personality change, no pep or enthusiasm, muscle pains, night gagging sessions, and constipation, led me to get my medication changed to Lipitor. With Lipitor, I have had no side effects worth mentioning after 3 months. If I had had fewer side effects, then I would have been happy to stay on it."

Rosuvastatin "My total cholesterol level was around 258, now at 148. This was after 2 years and 2 months. In 10 months, from 258 to 184. So Crestor worked for me. Do have some side effects: mild dizziness, some muscle pain, and occasional cramping in the legs. The effectiveness of this drug outweighs the side effects. So I'd have to give it a thumbs up despite the side effects."

"Took 5 mg daily for about two months. Developed severe joint and muscle pain in shoulders and thigh. Discontinued use. The medicine did lower my cholesterol, but I was able to subsequently lower my cholesterol almost as much by changing my diet and increasing physical activity."

"I tried half a pill one night. By 9:45 am the next morning, I was unable to walk, could barely lift my arms, and struggled to work even in bed because it affected my mind too. It is approximately 3 days and a few hours later since I took it. I was able to do arm and chest workouts, but I lost tremendous ability in my legs. I went from being able to leg press over 350 pounds to barely able to manage 80 pounds. I also still feel super tired from trying to go about my daily tasks with weak legs. It was a severe muscle weakness reaction. I hoped it would go away within days, but it’s still lingering."

"I'm 59, female. Dr. put me on 10 mg of Rosuvastatin. He said it may cause muscle aches. Took it the first night. Next morning, my feet and back of calves hurt. I decided to take the next dose in the morning (had to skip a day to do that). Day 2. Went shopping (I love to shop). I could hardly stand in the store. I had pain from the bottom of my feet up to the back of my knees. It was horrible. Stopped at the pharmacy. The pharmacist said it may cause fatigue and muscle aches. I was in so much pain, just trying to shop! I felt like I needed a cane. I finally went home in agony. Several hours later, my left arm, right shoulder, and right side of my neck joined in the pain party. I was almost in tears. Keep in mind, I have a high pain tolerance. I had my gallbladder out and never took a Tylenol. I looked at that tiny pill and wondered how it could cause so much widespread pain. I never took another pill. My Dr. said to stop, and we will reevaluate in 6 months. I'm a nurse as well. Never again."

"I went on rosuvastatin about two months ago. My pain started in the neck and spread to my hips, thighs, knees, and arms. I had not learned about the side effects of statin drugs but knew the only change that had happened in my life was beginning that medication. Once I told my doctor about the pain, she took me off the medicine. I have been off it for 2 1/2 weeks, and the pain has not changed one bit. Waking up several times during the night and getting out of bed in the morning is a joke because of the pain when I move. No over-the-counter pain relievers help. I just got a referral from my doctor to see a rheumatologist who hopefully will be able to help me with the pain and figure out why I’m not getting better. My cholesterol did lower by 100 points in the month that I took it. But I will not be touching any type of statin again."

Rosuvastatin "So far, so good - had to lower dosage to 5 mg since I did get some pain in my feet and tingling in the hands. I've tried Lipitor, Vytorin, and Zocor. All gave me a problem with muscle pain, some in a few months, others after a year or more."

"So far, I have been taking 40 mg rosuvastatin daily (I was switched from atorvastatin 80 mg). I have noticed severe foot cramps at night, pain in my back near my kidney area. Not too happy with this medicine. The atorvastatin 80 mg gave me dark urine and did not lower my cholesterol."

"Absolutely never again. Rosuvastatin absolutely crippled me. Swollen knees and ankles, atrophied muscles, complete body weakness, lower back pain. It turned me into a 90-year-old with severe arthritis. My swelling is finally down, but still can barely walk from knee pain. Good luck."

Rosuvastatin "Have been using Crestor 20 mg now daily for 9 weeks, with a very strict diet and daily exercise regime. I previously had taken Lipitor 40 mg for 12 weeks, prior to Crestor. Have been able to trim my triglycerides from 398 to 179 in 9 weeks. I have also trimmed my body weight from 240 to 212 (target weight goal is 195 lbs at 6'4'). My legs may be tender at times, but I also stretch and run every day."

"After one month on rosuvastatin, I am almost unable to get up from sitting. Can't kneel anymore as I am unable to get up without help. Knees burning, along with loss of leg muscle strength. Bad headache every other day, along with a sick stomach. Blisters started on the back of my head. Getting off of this medication. Too bad my doctor never told me about the side effects beforehand. Time to find a new doctor that might care about his patients, not his profit."

"I cannot begin to describe how much pain I am in right now ... within hours of taking 5 mg, my ankles are swollen and my knees and hips are throbbing to the point that I had to call out of work. My cholesterol isn't even that high, but my doctor insisted that I take this stuff. It's going in the garbage, although $38 for six pills makes me hesitant."

"I started taking this medication about 5 years ago and the results have been great. I routinely had high cholesterol on annual blood tests as well as high triglycerides. Over the past 3 years, my tests are now completely normal! Best of all, insurance made this essentially free."

Rosuvastatin "After 15 years of being diagnosed with high cholesterol, Crestor did the following for me in three months - dosage 20 mg: Before: Total Cholesterol 379, HDL 64, LDL 286. After using Crestor: Total cholesterol 226, HDL 74, LDL 107. My doctor had never seen such positive results in his practice - ever!"

"I had been on Vytorin for years with fabulous results. The results were so good my doctor said to take one Mon, Wed, and Friday. Results were still fantastic. Then I went on Medicare and was forced to switch to rosuvastatin calcium 40 mg. I have noticed I have been dizzy. I have never been dizzy. My stomach just feels weird all the time, like it needs an antacid. My stomach never felt weird before. I think the warning label for this product says DO NOT TAKE AN ANTACID. I will go back to buying my meds out of Canada if the insurance co. doesn't relent and let me go back to Vytorin."

"I've been taking Rosuzet for 6 years. I wasn't feeling well for years, and I thought, well, it must be arthritis. This morning, I could hardly move as the pain in my muscles in my legs and arms was excruciating, with spasms in the muscles of my legs with every step I took. I cried, then started Google, and I found this site where people share their experience with Rosuzet. I'll stop taking it from tomorrow."

"It is very effective in relation to laboratory readings. My husband took it for 3 months the first time, and his cholesterol dropped from 8.1 to 4.7, but he started to get heart beating just out of nowhere that scares him. He stopped taking rosuvastatin 20 mg, but in 8 months, it raised again. He repeated 20 mg for 3 months more, and again, he got good cholesterol, but this time he got two injuries - two broken arms (right, then left), with excessive bruises that never happened before. The injuries happened just from mild falling from a bike without any speed, nothing big that should have caused him broken bones."

Rosuvastatin "Four weeks on Crestor 5 mg dropped my total cholesterol level 100 points. LDL 81. Now I need to work on increasing HDL through diet and exercise. No side effects at the low strength. Very pleased with the results."

"56 years old. Started taking this med about 3 months ago as my cholesterol was very high, and although regularly exercising and changing diet didn't lower my numbers after battling it for about a year. Was resistant to taking this med as, like some of you, read reviews. My doctor prescribed 5 mg. Since taking it, blood work to see how body was reacting to med. My numbers have dropped drastically, and my doctor is very impressed. However, I am experiencing, as most of you, weakness in parts of body and a lot of body aches. I am unusually stiff when getting up from sitting for more than an hour, and it wakes me at night. Experiencing cramps in my big toe. Symptoms were on left side, but now experiencing on right side. Visit scheduled with doctor."

"I was on this medication off and on for a year. I finally took myself off due to horrible side effects. My Dr. told me I had no choice but to go back on it, so I took her advice and restarted the med. It lasted for TWO DAYS before I realized why I went off of it the 1st time. The muscle aches/pain and fatigue were HORRIBLE. My quality of life took a nosedive in only 48 hrs. I have come to realize that doctors aren't always right, and most are there to push legal poison (medication) without looking at healthy alternatives. I have adopted a new way of eating (Mediterranean diet) and started to exercise more often. I also do intermittent fasting for 16-20 hrs. My numbers aren't great, but they're a lot better than they used to be, plus I have quality of life. I'm going to find a new Dr. and continue to educate myself on healthy alternatives to some medications. I realize some are absolutely necessary, but I will say... be proactive with YOUR life and do your research."
