For Pulmonary Embolism, Recurrent Event "I had multiple pulmonary embolisms a month ago and are using Xarelto 15mg in the morning and 15mg at night. I am very happy with it compared to warfarin I used 15 years ago for a DVT. The only complaint I have is that I feel tired an exhausted most of the time. My hair loss is less than with warfarin. I hope these side effects diminish because I have to be on blood thinners for life."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I am 20 years old and I just started the rivaroxiban 2 weeks, after they found a clot in my arm ! I'm on 20mg twice a day for 3 weeks and then 15mg for 3 months. I find I am really tired all the time and I do get a good bit of sleep at night too ! I never usually got headaches before but now I find around a hour after taking the pill I get a headache ! Just wondering is this due to the pill or am I just overthinking it !"

For Pulmonary Embolism "I had a doctor that did not tell me about a PE & DVT . So One morning I felt like a ran a 50 yard dash and could not catch my breath. I waited too long and went to the ER. They gave me TPA and heparin. Had the branch blocked and right side of my heart was stressed. ICU for 3-1/2 days later I got out. I am was on Xeralto twice a day and have just finished them now on once a day. I have not seen a hair loss because I am already follicly challenged. I don't see anything that causes me to worry about life. I do look forward to being off it . They said 3 months and I'm done. Although my primary doctor wants me to be on it for 6 months . That will be a conversation I will tell her no!! I am very active and can't afford to worry about bleeding if I fall. In conclusion I am very happy that the technology is what it is today."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis, Recurrent Event "I was put on Xarelto in July of 2015. I had my a very large blood clot that covered my whole left leg.. I took the drug regularly not missing a pill. I had another ultrasound droppler done on the same leg just week ago and I have another blood clot in same leg. Now this drug says your not suppose to get any more blood clots while on the drug. Well it never worked for me..."

For Atrial Fibrillation "I’ve been on this drug since Sep 2017. Sometime November 2017, I’ve experiencing some right leg pain, posterior calf and hamstring pain while driving. I’m very active and still managed to workout almost at least 5 times a week. The pain subsided late December 2017 but still experiencing the same pain occasionally. Now I guess the drug also triggers my BPH. Any thoughts on this?"

For Pulmonary Embolism "Have been on Xarelto now for 2 months without any complaints. I've not had the out of the ordinary dreams that others have reported. I am an endurance athlete and other than deconditioning from a forced no exercise restriction for 4 weeks, I cannot say that this medicine limits my performance. I must say I have had some very short duration dizzy spells on occasion, but definitely not the norm. My insurance required that Xarelto be preauthorized prior to getting it. So far I am very happy with its performance and convenience."

For Pulmonary Embolism "Had COVID/PE/pneumonia. Prescribed Xarelto. Couldn’t walk for three weeks due to leg pain and then felt extreme fatigue for months after with consistent lower back pain and weight gain. The fatigue has been devastating. Unable to work or fully function as a parent. Forgot to take my pills with me on holiday last week and felt great. Took one pill on return and faitigue, nausea, GI issues and brain fog are back. I will not take another. Stops today."

For Pulmonary Embolism "In answer to change of health after going from 30mg a day to 20mg: I was diagnosed with a massive saddle PE on May 1, 2016 after having uncontrolled sweating with subsequent shortness of breath. 911 call, ER, BP 60/40 w/pulse 130-160. Doctor said surprised I made it to the hospital. Healthy, active 56yr old released after overnight stay with 6mos Xarelto therapy. Was fine with 21 day 15mg 2x day; 20 mg change made me feel like I was dying. Realized it was too much for my system at one time; cut the pill in half & took 1/2 2xday--still got my 20mg & felt good again. Finished with treatment for moment; since was unprovoked they've done extensive tests to find I have Factor 5. Waiting to see how 2.5mg Eliquis 2x dy 6mos works; just started."

For Atrial Fibrillation "74 yr. old female. Have been on Xarelto, 20 mg, for approximately 1 year. For no reason I could discern, my knee swelled up and became very painful. Eventually, I could not walk and was in severe pain. I went via Emergency Transport to the local Emergency Room. The ER doctor diagnosed me with hemarthrosis, internal bleeding into the knee joint, CAUSED by XARELTO!!! I was never warned about INTERNAL BLEEDING. The package insert only mentions external bleeding. Also, the bleed seems to have been SPONTANEOUS and not caused by any injury to the knee. Very scary! I am who longer taking any blood thinner/anti-coagulant. Avoid this drug."

For Pulmonary Embolism "I feel terrible taking this medication. My ankles are swollen, my back aches, my headaches, I have a BM after I eat anything, the shower spray feels like pinpricks on my arms, and I am tired and morose. I felt better with the pulmonary embili."

For Pulmonary Embolism "I take xarelto for pulmonary embolisms and for dvt. My son takes it for dvt. We both have Factor 5. We both experience really bad leg pain, we both have chest pains, pains in hands and arms. We both feel very cold all the time. There are more symptoms but that is the worse symptoms. I have been on xarelto for only 5 months. My son has been on it for 2-3 years. Without insurnce it is $375.00 a month. My insurance covers mine but he has no insurance. He keeps losing his jobs because he can't work due to blood clots and or his leg pain."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "Been on over 7 months. Now on 10mg by own will plus research concluding that xarelto 10mg is more effective than aspirin. These sites lack knowledge and unquestionable advice. First of all, drink mostly water if you want best combined results. Dont take 10mg unless that is what your doc told you or you have passed the end of your treatment prog based on your algorithm. We all have one. Reduce consumption of colored drinks. Always wear stocking if swell problem. Exercise prevents new DVT on top of xarelto. "

For Pulmonary Embolism, Recurrent Event "Xa inhibitors such as Xarelto are increasingly becoming more commonly prescribed and very effective in treating Antiphospholipid syndrome (an autoimmune disorder that causes 'sticky blood' resulting in clots) as an alternative to Warfarin, particularly in the cases of patients such as myself who had unstable INR results. The side effects have been minimal, and possibly can't all necessarily be blamed on Xarelto as I take many other medications, some with similar side effects such as tiredness and headaches. The worst side effect for me is dizziness, but my specialist recommended I take it just before bed instead of the morning as the dizziness wears off within several hours."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis, Prophylaxis "Xarelto should never be prescribed to anyone with a bleeding disorder. It will cause severe bleeding that in my situation required spending a night in the ER and required that I be taken off this medication immediately."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis, Prophylaxis "I had been taking warfarin for many years for Antiphospholipid syndrome and been pestering my Dr. if I could switch to Xarelto instead, as I'd had enough of the constant INR tests. Finally, my haematologist agreed. (The drug is not normally prescribed for my condition.) I was given 20mg to be taken once daily with breakfast. The first two weeks passed with no problems, but on the third week, I had a really bad dizzy spell and almost fainted. Fortunately, I managed to sit down before I did faint. I spoke to my haematologist and she suggested that I take it just before going to bed instead of the morning. So far it's worked. With my condition, migraines are a symptom and they have got slightly worse since taking Xarelto. But I still much prefer it to warfarin & INR tests!"

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I have my second dvt and have been on rivaroxopan for almost five weeks. I'm grateful my leg is less painful and I believe it's working however I have experienced bleeding of the gums unprovoked and also had my first ever nose bleed in the night, never had one in 48 years!! I'm on 20 mg once a day so I think it's making my blood too thin!"

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I am a 37 whose body hates me. May 20th I had a hernia repair repair (1st surgery went bad). 3 weeks later I got an infection in my incision. Dr did a CT scan. That's when he saw the clot in my ovarian vein. 8 cm long. He admitted me to the hospital immediately. Was on heparin drip and strong antibiotics. After 2 days blood was flowing a tad bit better. Was put on Xarelto. So far it seems ok. Minor side effects. Sore back, very mild dizzy spells, sore stomach (maybe from surgery and infection) and some weird tingling in my mouth. Nothing major after being on it almost a month. I do have to be on it for 6 months total. Hope nothing else happens. I can handle the side effects I do have. Just hope it makes the clot go away."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I wouldn't even give this medication a 1 if I had a choice. I had my first DVT at 16 yrs old and just suffered another one at 21 years old a few months ago. I was prescribed the Xarelto pill and, 3 weeks later, suffered such severe internal bleeding as well as hemorrhaging externally that I almost bled to death. Luckily, the doctors performed 3 emergency surgeries that saved my life. I wouldn't recommend this medication to any females since I have yet to hear a bad case happening with males (but I could be wrong)."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis Prophylaxis after Knee Replacement Surgery "Was on eliquis. Awful drug. Was on it 6 weeks and my urine got VERY rank. after 2 and half months woke up one night and my heart was vibrating, jaw and arm pain. It stopped after 5 min. It occurred 2 to 5 times a day for 5 days Made Dr appointment and I cut pills to 1 a day. Dr put me on Xarelto. Still have the bad urine smell. Had a few days of heart episodes but now it seems to be better. Have taken 16 pills, one a day. I still have slight tightness and jaw pain occasionally but nothing compared to Eliquis.. I also on Eliquis had sore eyes and very very tired. I am still tired but not as bad. have 2 more months to go. Just wanted to share this with everyone that has to take this medicine!!"

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "7 months arm & leg cramps. I ask about blood clot. Dr was certain I didn’t have clot. Trip to urgent care. Dr laughed when asked about blood clot. On discharge: “You DO NOT HAVE BLOODCLOT”. I’m 50, healthy. Run a lot average 12k steps/day. Resting heart rate 56. She says overuse injury. PCP agreed to ultrasound & finds clot, not DVT, “superficial” in thigh, 3 cm from femoral junction. Hematology says 30-days Xarelto. Took at 8pm 1st 2 nights. Pains & worse cramping than original. Next 3 nights all Xarelto horror story. Muscle pain, cramps, feeling like peeling muscles from thighs & calves like picking at fried chicken. I found this forum 6th night. Saw comments about taking X with dinner, not after. 10 days ago I started taking med as I ate dinner. Holy smokes! 90% of pains are gone. I do feel nauseous with in 90 minutes after breakfast and/or lunch, which I chalk up as another side effect & does go away as soon as I eat something small like nuts. Only 10 more days!"

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "I was taking Xarelto for DVTs in my right leg. For the most part the drug went as expected. Until I got a nose bleed. When it started it was like any other. Then the bleeding started like a cut vein. And it would not stop. I was rushed to emergency at a local hospital, where they shoved 2 devices that were to help it stop. They did not work and the ER doc on hand had to put larger ones in. I was told at the time there wasn't any drugs that would slow the bleeding down. It was time and compression that worked. It scared the hell out of me. As of now I will not go back on it due to these effects. And also due to my work. If I got a bleed in the place I work, it'd be disastrous."

For Pulmonary Embolism "I had a DVT and I threw a clot after being in the hospital as a young adult for 2 weeks. I was put on Warfarin for about 6 months then came off it. 10 years later I had a massive PE and was put back on Warfarin. I hated having to stick to a level amount of greens and constant check of my INR. So when I was able to try Xarelto I was happy those issues went away. I'm not sure if I have other side effects. I'm older now and sleep doesn't come easily. I'm also heavier ... but as we age and slow down, so does our metabolism. It does take me a little longer to stop bleeding if I am cut, I'm on 20mg dose. But I can deal with it. No more street brawls for me I guess. The only real issue I see with this drug is the insane price and the way insurance companies handle it. You either have to pay nearly $500/mo for the drug, or get insurance that is over $500/mo that covers it. I saw the patent information. There are no unicorn tears in the chemistry so I'm not sure why it's so expensive."

For Deep Vein Thrombosis "On my fifth week. Everything was fine. I cannot remember if I doubled my 20mg dosage yesterday, but this morning up to noon time I was urinating blood. I have gone twice more since noon time with no blood. Has anyone else experienced this with xarelto before?"

For Pulmonary Embolism "I've been on 20 mg Xarelto for 6 months after a pulmonary embolisml short of breath when walking up hills still. Very occasionally a elbow joint will hurt and a few times I've had a sore throat. Swelling pretty much gone in left ankle. I think it works for me. I'm still alive"

For Pulmonary Embolism "I developed multiple blood clots in my lungs after a trip to Canada and America. It wasn't until I returned home that I found out I had them and was put on the 15mg twice a day for 3 weeks before switching to 20mg once a day. I have just stopped taking Xarelto after 6 and a half months and found no problem with it! Aside from bruising easily, it sure beat the alternative (injections), so I am very grateful for all it has done. I am 20 years old and am happy to say I only have a bit of scar tissue left over."
