"I was hoping this would be the magic pill for my insomnia but this is my third night of taking this and it’s 3am as I am writing this. I don’t understand why it’s so expensive. It does absolutely nothing for me…I’m glad to see others had positive effects from it but not me - I don’t know what else to do !"

"This must be one of the worst drugs I have ever taken for insomnia. One of the side effects is worsening of condition. They are not kidding! This particular side effect ocurred every time I have taken it for insomnia! My guess is that they are promoting it because it is not a CS....Works opposite for me. I would never recommend this!"

"I have been using this medication for over 10 years. It is horrible! I still got up at two or three in the morning with horrible stomach pains. The only way to get rid of it was to eat. I've gained tons of weight. Finally after researchIng Dr Ray Peat, I found out my insomnia was caused by a lack of sugar and salt and dairy. Nuts, avocados, beans, is what I added to my diet in 2004 when the insomnia started. According to that medical research, those food items really contribute to insomnia. By adding gelatin and dairy back in my diet I have not taking this medication for three months . And I got my sleep back after 13 years of insomnia.my weight is starting to come off. They need to warn people that this medication can cause weight gain"

"I've been on ramelteon for just a few days now. Insomnia has been leading to mental health issues again. I've been taking at least four other nighttime drugs such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen pm for so long to get a few hours of broken sleep. I was past the point of exhaustion. But so far, every night, I've been falling asleep pretty quickly but having horrible dreams. It is 3 am now and I'm wide awake again. Still undecided on effectiveness. Hopefully after a few more days it will be better, if I can suffer through the dreams."
