For Sedation "I'm getting prescribed promethazine for insomnia, which is caused by bad social anxiety (I get the feeling someone is watching me while I'm sleeping, and generally, when I leave my house, I get really anxious. Which sometimes leads to me not leaving my house for months, other than when I have to work, etc.) I'm taking 25-50 mg half an hour before I go to bed. It really does help me with my sleep as well, which kind of lowers the anxiety that also was caused by my lack of sleep, but it doesn't completely kill the anxiety. Just a tip from me: if you want to get rid of your anxiety, stop taking stuff like benzos or so and quit doing drugs if you currently do any. Start meditating, it really can calm you down and helps you get along with yourself! I didn't believe it until I tried it! Promethazine is good for sleeping, and that's it. Last thing I want to say: it sometimes doesn't help my insomnia as well, but that really rarely, though! I've been on this medication for almost three months now!"

Promethazine for Sedation "I got these over 4-5 months. I started with 25 mg and ended up taking 2 every evening before bed. I started getting restless legs to the point where I had to wander around in my flat for hours like a zombie, and I sometimes only got a few hours of sleep. Also, I began to get a bloody nose. Every morning I had to clean my nose with tissues, and the paper was always bloody. And the weight gain. I gained 15 kilos in that time. Right before I quit taking them, I was miserable. Almost every night I had restless legs, and I didn’t get much sleep. I have been off Phenergan since the beginning of August - I lost 7.6 kilos, my nose is just fine, and I haven’t had one second with restless legs since. I’m back to having trouble falling asleep, but I definitely prefer that to all the horrible side effects."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I am pregnant and have severe nausea, so my doc gave me these pills. They are amazing, but they act like a sleeping pill. I went to bed at 5 PM and woke up at 7 AM the next morning. I like not feeling sick, but I don't like sleeping so much when I take it."

For Sedation "Great sleeping tablet if you are suffering from anxiety and cannot sleep at night. I am using it due to using antidepressants that are causing me insomnia, but I highly recommend this if you need a decent night's sleep."

For Sedation "Before you take this for sleep, particularly if you are giving it to children, please read information about withdrawal. I was taking it for Prozac-induced insomnia. Coming off Prozac was easy. Coming off Phenergan is awful. It has been likened to coming off opiates. I am on day two. I am hoping by Monday it will be out of my system and I can restart my life drug-free."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Worst experience ever, it gave me insomnia and severe stomach cramps and nausea followed by depression/confusion and scary delusional thoughts. Mood swings, can't breathe while sleeping, mini nightmares, still waking up after a few hours of sleep and struggle to go back. Luckily, my mind is returning to normal, and I have less brain fog now, this pill made me think like I had dementia. Forgot who my family was for a few minutes as well."

Promethazine for Light Sedation "Only thing that helps me sleep. I cut the 25 mg in half, and that helps me settle down. I also combine that with 0.5 mg of Klonopin. I am 77 years old and have suffered with insomnia for many, many years. I do not do well with antidepressants, so I avoid them. Wish I could forgo Klonopin, but I have been on it for 10 years. Should have never started any mind-controlling drug."

For Allergic Reactions "My husband used Phenergan 25 for an itchy reaction to another drug, caused nervousness, dizziness, insomnia, anxiety, confusion, anger, nightmares, and thought he was going mad. (I did too!) After 2 nights, I realized what it was doing, he slept it off the next day, never to use it again! There is no warning of these ill effects on the packet! Only may cause drowsiness, well, it did, about 16 hours later!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have trouble with nausea and vomiting, as well as severe coughing, every spring or when the weather gets crazy. Six years ago, the doctor gave me some promethazine, and after a few days, the coughing was just about gone. I tried everything, and this really helped, but be prepared to sleep."

For Sedation "Literally only been taking it for three days, and my insomnia is actually worse than it was beforehand. I was told it would only take 30 minutes to kick in, but I tossed and turned for up to 3 hours, then woke up every hour or so for absolutely no reason. I'm honestly not sure if I want to continue taking it because I'm even more exhausted than I was previously, with a wicked headache and dry mouth to boot. Its only saving grace is that it might help deal with some of the nausea that comes with starting a new antidepressant, but even then I'm doubtful it will."

For Sedation "I have been taking 50 mg to help me sleep for about a year now because of insomnia. I’d be careful with this drug!! As it beyond helps, it knocks you for six. I would struggle to get out of bed in the morning and feel like rubbish. I started to have weird dreams that I was having seizures, which I think I actually was in my sleep. I am also trying to come off them now. Your brain will completely start to rely on them to sleep, as I’m finding out 3 weeks in on cutting it off, and my insomnia is worse than it ever was before! Completely regret starting them and can’t believe my doctor let it get to this stage as they look like harmless hay fever tablets at first!! Please be careful!!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I took a 10 mg dose just once 2 days ago, and it solved my nausea issues. I also slept for about 4 hrs after I took it in the afternoon and was really groggy. However, for the past two nights, I've suffered insomnia and haven't been able to sleep at all."
