For Nausea/Vomiting "Background info: I have a long medical history of generalized anxiety disorder & panic attacks. This medication caused THE WORST mental AND physical distress I’ve experienced in my entire life. I am not exaggerating; this was beyond any panic attack I’ve ever had, almost to the point that “panic” doesn’t suffice to explain what I felt. Every muscle in my body was tense & cramped, to the point that I wanted to crawl out of my skin. My stomach was clenched, & despite this being an anti-emetic, I felt like vomiting. I could not sit still or get comfortable, & ended up pacing like a lunatic for hours. I felt horribly self-conscious & emotionally distraught, & truly wished that these terrible feelings would end. PLEASE, stay far away from this medication!! Even if you’re not an anxious person, don’t risk it. I’ve been through some horrible things in my life, but the feelings that Compazine caused me are very near the top of the list."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have migraine, vomiting, gallbladder issue's. I was asked if I wanted zofran or compazine. I asked little bit about side effects and the nurse said it's for migraines, vomiting, put in my IV 15 minutes later, like the room got dark, and i couldn't stay still. 30 mins later I called my mom crying telling her I'm dying there is no way I'm coming back from hospital. Many times I was about rip IV out pacing the hospital bed with IV cord on me. I felt the oncoming sense of doom, somewhat dismembered my IV on my arm, one point I was rip IV out, had no ride home hour away from home. I was going run outta the room in the streets zero below. I got a nurse in said yah the medicine can do that to people have reactions. Benadryl, reverse it it took 30 more mins for them to bring benadryl in, about 10 mins I finally dozed off. But I still couldn't stop moving walking around and nervous panic. I had got released, I had toget Benadryl from store keep it reversed for 24hrs. Worse dangerous drug. I will never take a unknown medication again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "They gave me this medication via IV in the ER for a very intense migraine and extreme nausea, I would never recommend this medication to anyone ever, the second it was pushed through, I started having an extreme panic attack, something like I have never felt before, like a huge wave of doom rushed over me, I started freaking out so badly I almost ripped my IV out and ran away, it was so traumatizing to me that they pushed a big dose of Ativan though my IV just to knock me out, I truly thought I was dying... And after all that it felt like my skin was crawling for a good 32 hours. No, thank you. Never again will allow this in my body."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed this med in pill form for nausea from my chemotherapy as a backup in case Zofran did not work. Because Zofran caused me constipation I asked my care team if I could use the Compazine as the first defence. They said go ahead and try it. While taking this med I didn't want to sleep, didn't want to be awake, couldn't sit, couldn't stand or wait in line, had to pace back and forth to stop myself from doing something drastic. I snapped at loved ones because I was so desperate. I felt fear and dread and paranoia. At first I thought it was the chemotherapy I was on that was causing all these things but I finally figured out it was the Compazine. You snap out of the horrible side effects about 12 to 24 hours after taking your last dose. It feels like you are breaking a fever and finally feel more relaxed and relieved. I stopped taking it. Hoping this review will be helpful for those on chemo. Sometimes with all the drugs we take it's hard to pinpoint which one is the culprit."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Compazine is chemically similar to Thorazine...both of which can cause extreme and sometimes dangerous reactions the in people who have risk of serotonin syndrome or sensitivities. I personally experienced rage reactions to Compazine when it was used to treat nausea from migraines. "

For Anxiety "Went to the ER with a headache and was give an IV with Benadryl and compazine. IMMEDIATELY I began to have a panic attack. The only way I can describe it is like being buried alive. I was so tired but coming out of my skin. Worst feeling of my life and now going to the hospital and regular routine appointments give me anxiety. I’m afraid of getting shots and taking medicines. My life has not been the same since getting that IV. I don’t understand how this drug could be used to treat anxiety."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Compazine IV in the ER ( which I work at the hospital ) for a severe migraine. Not much later after I started getting horrible sensations in my head. And creepy crawly all over. Couldn't communicate. Couldn't walk straight. And NO ONE noticed this !!!!! I was too sick to even realize it was the Compazine at the time. I had no idea it is in the THORAZINE family !!!!! Now I'm marked as having an allergy to COMPAZINE. NIGHTMARE !!!!!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have been on Compazine for over 2 years and it has been an absolute overall relief of nausea, anxiety and nerves/nervous tension. Finding a doctor who will prescribe it without a struggle and or reservation is a whole other issue. I've been told it carries too many side effects and isn't considered safe or for long term. I've been told to switch to Zofran. The upside is Zofran seems to have a fairly good rating. I never suffered side effects from the Compazine."

For Anxiety "This medication gave me the worst experience of my life. It made me sleepy, yes. But at the same time, It sped up my mental discomfort, and it made my muscles jump. Similar to restless leg syndrome, but throughout my entire body. It was so bad they had to reverse it with Benadryl to alleviate the symptoms, And finally they gave me a mixture of Valium and Demerol to put me in a twilight state until it passed. If you have ANY medication allergies, even mild. I would strongly advise against this medication. "

For Nausea/Vomiting "Y’all, my experience was exactly like so many others. I was having dizzy spells for over a week and then suddenly had the worlds worst headache so I went in. They gave me toradol and compazine through an IV and within ten minutes, I thought I was going insane. I asked to go to the bathroom just to get out of the room. I couldn’t sit still and felt so panicked. On my way back from the bathroom, I seriously considered ripping out my IV. When the nurse came in, I stopped my fluids, and went home. Had to sign a paper that I was refusing treatment, but I couldn’t be in that room any longer."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER with a migraine and nausea/vomiting. I saw the doctor and then the nurse brought a medication into my room, Compazine. Then they wheeled me over to get a CT scan. That’s when things went all bad. Sitting there, in the hallway on the gurney I began having this overwhelming feeling of anxiety/panic! The problem was, my body felt like I couldn’t move, like there was a disconnect from my mind and my body. After the CT scan I was back in the room. All I could think about was when I can get out of that ED and when those feelings of anxiety would stop! It was literally, the worst feeling in the world, so hard to describe, but I have never felt so uncomfortable and anxious, yet unable to do anything about it. I wanted to rip out my IV and run out of the ASAP! It took an entire 3 DAYS before I started to feel “normal” again! It was torture. Worst experience. Never, ever take Compazine if you can avoid it. I now have Compazine listed as an allergy."

For Nausea/Vomiting "My wife was administered Compazine after receiving chemo to relieve nausea symptoms. Within 12 hours, she became restless, irritable, felt like her muscles were being ripped out of her body, it caused her to have a 103 fever and diarrhea, coupled with the chemo almost killed her. She ended up in the ICU unconscious and almost died. Our team of doctors told us the was a rare occurrence. From reading the other reviews, and witnessing this first-had. I would advise anyone, if offered this drug to decline. It was truly the biggest nightmare of my wife's life. On the scale of 1-10 above this survey asked to select how effective this medicine was. Therefor we would give it a 0=ZERO."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I know all drugs come with side effects, but please listen to me and other people on here. I was given Compazine ONE time in February of 2019 for vomiting. I experienced graphic really dark thoughts, hallucinations, akathisia, tinnitus, panic attacks, brain zaps, a feeling of bugs crawling under my skin, paranoia, and at one point a complete inability to feel joy. I am still not myself and it is now July. There is nothing any doctor can do for you once this medication messes you up. I was a normal wife, mother, and employee and some days now I can’t take care of myself let alone my family. This drug has ruined my life and it was one dose for something as simple as nausea. There are much safer alternatives for nausea and vomiting."

For Anxiety "I went in to ER for a migraine and was given this. Immediately a rash developed on my arm and I felt like I was going crazy! I felt as if someone was trying to kill me and I had to get out of that room! I NEVER had anxiety in my life. Didn’t realize that is what caused it until my 2nd ER visit months later the same thing happened. Did some research and spoke to my Dr and was told it was the compazine! It is now listed as an allergy in my chart. I felt like I was full blown psychotic! Lasted for a couple of days until I felt normal again. This med should be recalled!"

For Anxiety "So I was given this in an ER to treat status migranosus and it made me go insane. I couldn’t sit still, I wanted to leave. More than wanted, I NEEDED to leave. I couldn’t stand it. I wanted to rip out my IV but I didn’t. I bit as hard as I could into my arm until I broke the skin, that’s how crazy I went. I had to tell the nurse that it was a “love bite” so they didn’t lock me up for self-harm. They subsequently gave me some Ativan and Benadryl to calm me down and that fixed the problem. Well after a few doses anyway. I will NEVER touch Compazine ever again."

For Anxiety "I was given Compazine in the hospital along with Toradol. I have been to ER many many times for migraines and they wouldn't listen to me, I usually get Toradol and a just a tiny bit of morphine. The doctor said no and gave me this combo. That was two years ago and ever since I have had to be on multiple medications from the severe side effects I had. I ran out of the hospital, complete panic stricken, horrible thoughts, dread, doom you name it. I am not taking several pills a day all because of one single dose of Compazine. I can not get any lawyers that will handle my case because its against the drug company. Awful awful drug."

"I went to the ER twice for a migraine and received Compazine, Toradol and Benadryl via IV. Both times I felt like my body was not my own. I instantly felt jittery and couldn’t sit still. I wanted to jump out of my skin. All I wanted was to go home. The cocktail worked, but when I was finally released I could barely drive home because I couldn’t sit still for more than a few seconds. I had to pull over multiple times. I called the ER when I got home because I couldn’t sleep at all. The nurse told me to take another dose of Benadryl and it should subside. It took 2 days to get back to normal. I thought it was the combination of the Compazine, Toradol and Benadryl that caused this side effect until I was admitted to Johns Hopkins for DHE treatment. They gave me Compazine before the start of the treatment and I immediately felt crazy. All the symptoms I felt in the ER happened again. The worst medication I have ever received. Count yourself lucky if you didn’t experience this."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was in and out of the ER due to migraines and on the last day they gave me a prescription of Compazine. The next day when I took it I laid down to take a nap and woke up struggling to breath. My throat was closing and I could barely talk. I went into a full blown panic attack and called the ambulance. They gave me 3 different shots of something I can't remember and rushed me to the hospital. My jaw felt locked like I clinching my teeth hard together by the time I got to the hospital. I was shaking uncontrollably and crying hysterically. After I was discharged I came home and chugged some childrens benadryl and took some xanax and felt the side effect slowly go away. I have never in my felt so scared."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Believe the reviews! Do not under any circumstances when going to the ER for a migraine/headache have them give you prochlorperazine through a IV. When it was given I had an insanely fast heart rate, my skin was crawling, and I literally stood up asked the nurse to remove my IV and I paced the hospital non stop. My wife drove me home and I literally paced my house for almost 3 days straight as I couldn’t sit still or sleep! It’s been a month since then and I’m still having PTSD from that incident."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went into the ER for a really bad migraine and vomiting they gave me Benadryl and compazine within three minutes I had the worst panic attack of my life. My anxiety was through the roof. I unhooked myself from everything that I could and tried to get my IV out and demanded that I be let go thinking I would feel better when I got home. I have not slept in over 24 hours. I'm now on day 2 and I still want to crawl out of my skin. I can't stop shaking and crying. I want to crawl out of my skin or run away to get away from this feeling. I'm also shaky and anytime I think I'm about to fall asleep I get weird sadistic images that wake me up right away before I'm even all the way asleep. I don't know why this drug is legal. I hope people read these reviews and please don't let any doctor give you this medication the worst feeling of my life"

For Nausea/Vomiting "Went to ER for a migraine I could not control. Was given compazine by IV. Instantly felt like I was crawling out of my skin couldn't sit still. Went home and a few hours later ended back at the ER due to uncontrollable body movements. When I got there the doctor told me it was dystonia, which is a side effect reaction from the medication compazine which is unrerversible. It has been almost 7 months since this day and I still have uncontrollable muscle movements and severe anxiety. Please do not take this drug my life has been hell ever since."
