Pregabalin for Generalized Anxiety Disorder "My doctor prescribed me Lyrica for my social anxiety after having tried numerous other more conventional meds over the last 15 years, i.e., Paxil, Zoloft, Effexor, Xanax, etc. The list goes on and on, and finally (for me) this really, really works quite well. It stabilizes my feelings of anxiety as well as relieves stress-related pain. I feel like a different person, able to take on life rather than hide and let it pass by. Thanks."

Pregabalin for Neuralgia "Lyrica/Pregabalin was prescribed to me when I had a swollen and non-diagnosed node on my neck. After 10 months, and nearly wiping out 6 months of research during my PhD, I visited a doctor in Chicago who warned me to taper down and get off the drug. I do not normally take medicines of any kind, other than antibiotics in the event of a serious bacterial infection. Based on my experience with Lyrica, I would not recommend it to anyone. Pfizer's multiple trials for this drug have been designed to try to offer it for every imaginable and even unimaginable problem. It numbs the brain and turns a person into a blithering idiot while also catalyzing side-effects that range from nervous tics to suicidal ideation. Ten years later, I still have a mild, but irritating bruxism and semi-uncontrollable mouth movements. Rating the drug effective or ineffective is irrelevant. It will produce a numbing euphoria so that a person doesn't even have the sense to stop it. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "Lyrica is the worst medication I've ever taken. I took it about 10 years ago or more. I swelled up and gained 90 pounds. I went to doctor after doctor. Even put me in the hospital for 4 days. Lost 32 pounds. All they wanted to do is put me on diuretics. But that just caused rebound swelling so it didn't stop the problem. Nobody would tell me why I was so swollen. I couldn't even wear shoes. My ankles were even oozing. Finally, one day I was sitting in a chair watching TV (all I could do) and saw a commercial about Lyrica and for side effects it said 'slight swelling of feet and hands'. I had already asked doctors if it could be any of my meds. Of course, it was always no. I quit taking it and the swelling gradually went away. The Lyrica had caused really bad edema. But it took me another year to get the 90 pounds off of me. Overall, it stole 3 years of my life. Talked to many that went through the same thing."

Pregabalin for Neuropathic Pain "I recently had a rib resection due to a bone disease and was put onto Lyrica. The first two days in hospital, my feet swelled, and my mouth was like a desert, and I was having nightmares. After my first night at home, being on Lyrica for a total of 8 days, I will never take Lyrica again. I had the most horrific hallucinations, lost all balance, couldn't be reasoned with, and couldn't sleep for 72 hours even after stopping it, and also losing all my peripheral vision for that time. My saving grace being my husband who got me to medical help as fast as possible. It took about 1 minute of talking to an emergency doctor to know what was happening."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I have severe and major anxiety to the point that I am anxious about everything. I take antidepressants which work like a charm and Hydroxyzine to help with my anxiety. (does not help at all but makes me sleepy.) I took a 200 mg Lyrica, and about 30 minutes to an hour later, I felt amazing! I actually felt like myself. The only side effect is that I’m constantly moving around here and there, but I’m cleaning and doing positive things. The point is, when I go out in public, I don’t look down when people see me. I’m the person I’ve always wanted to be, and I enjoy life so much better now."

Pregabalin for Generalized Anxiety Disorder "Lyrica has changed my life. I have suffered from Generalized Anxiety Disorder for 15 years. I've tried absolutely everything to no avail until last week when I was put on Lyrica. In fact, it's not just changed my life; it's saved my life."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I have been on this medication for about 8-9 years now. I have been diagnosed (at 18 years old, 31 now) with Autism, GAD, and Epilepsy. I started on a very low dose (100mg per day) and now on 200mg three times a day. It controls my seizures along with sodium valproate, and what it does for anxiety is incredible. It's like an omnipotent medication. All these people saying about withdrawals, yes, you can get withdrawal symptoms if you stop cold turkey, but not as bad as Benzodiazepines or illicit drugs. Keep to your prescribed dose, and I think this medication will change your life."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I think this is the first review I’ve ever left on anything! I’ve suffered with Anxiety for years and I’ve been on numerous medications which have never worked, so I gave up. I then recently went through a very rocky time in my life which flared up my anxiety - I couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, and I was struggling with general day-to-day tasks until I discovered pregabalin. I am honestly amazed by the effect it’s had on me. Within a few hours of taking 100mg, my Anxiety had pretty much gone and my appetite was back more than ever. Personally, I stopped taking this daily, and I now take as and when I feel necessary, which my GP is okay with. Never have I known something so effective for Anxiety - game-changer."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "Diagnosed with Complex PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Had anxiety most of my life, which has been particularly bad in the last three years. Recently spent 5 weeks in a psychiatric hospital due to severe anxiety (body shaking - planning the end of my life prior to admission to the hospital). Consultant on the ward put me on 300 mg Pregabalin daily. It has made a major difference to my anxiety levels - I am much calmer. People say I am much more present and my thoughts no longer go all over the place - ten thoughts at once! I have been taking Pregabalin for about 9 weeks now. I feel like my old self - my sense of humor has come back, am no longer suicidal, and feel optimistic about the future. I see a psychiatric nurse weekly and tell her how I really feel - which helps. The relief from anxiety is wonderful - as I have a full-time job (social worker)."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "I started this drug ten years ago and gave rave reviews then so would like to again. I was able to manage my FM through diet, exercise, and adequate sleep through most of my 20s. One day I pushed myself too hard at work, and I got to what I call 'final stage'. Half an hour after getting a shot of Dilaudid in the ER, I was still crying and writhing. The doctor came in and sat down looking worried. 'There's probably nothing more you can do for me.' I said, 'No, there's not.' She sent me home with maximum doses of every painkiller on the planet, nothing got rid of the deep burning aching pain. It hurt to stand, sit, walk, lie down. I lay in bed for days not knowing what to do. I tried Lyrica. That pain has been gone ever since. I got my life back."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "I have been on Lyrica for 2 1/2 weeks now. I take 1 x 75mg capsule morning & night. I suffer from back, buttock, leg & feet pain from a 360-degree double spinal fusion of L4-L5 & L5 & S1 done 20 years ago. Nerve pain is now ruining my life. However, since being on this medicine, my pain is now around a 2-3 out of 10 from being anywhere between 5-9. The only real side effect I am having is feeling 'high' 24 hrs a day. Supposedly, this will go away in time. I also feel uplifted and it has helped with my depression. I do feel a bit aggressive at times too. I have been keeping a close check on my weight too but nothing has changed. My normal weight is 75 kgs and I'm fit & strong as I workout in the gym regularly which helps control back pain."

Pregabalin for Neuropathic Pain "On Lyrica, you will have trouble finding words, memory problems, energy boosts, anger. Who knows in the long term what happens, but I guess I will lose all my memory. But it is a very good and effective drug but has a crazy fast tolerance, so you constantly need to adjust it in order to get the kick. If I forgot to write something else, it's probably because of Lyrica."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "This has changed my life quite literally, from the anxious, shy, and introverted person that I usually am, with difficulty showing or sharing my emotions. I have become the person I know I am or was before I realized I had GAD. Yes, you do get high side effects, but do not misuse this drug. Take it for what you need and maybe you will have the same outcome as I am experiencing. It can be quite addictive, so again be careful and do not mix it with alcohol as it can increase the effects by at least x10 in my experience: dizziness, nausea, and unstableness. I hope this helps. As I said, I am a really bad sufferer of GAD, and this has really helped me become myself again."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "Been on this med for a few days now after 10 years of sheer awfulness after a tragic event in our family... anxiety? Only way to cope was to spend all day in bed, then get up, drink a bottle of wine, have some valium, then go to bed - that was my life. I had tried all antidepressants to no avail, then came across this miracle drug on a website! I thought I'd try that... doctor agreed to let me try it. 75 mg twice a day... UNBELIEVABLE anxiety? What anxiety? It has gone... and good riddance... early days I know but fingers crossed. I feel hopeful for the future thank God. As someone else mentioned on this website - it should be first choice for anxiety medication. It took me years to come across this. I am 67 but have eventually found the gold!!!"

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "After coming off 25 years of Valium, I had the most horrible anxiety and insomnia which I never had before. The Valium was prescribed for muscle spasms. Anyway, after stopping Valium, I had crippling anxiety around the clock and sleeping... forget it. I'd wake up at 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., every night. There I sat, so very exhausted yet wired with anxiety. Went to a shrink who prescribed the usual SSRIs which did nothing but give me horrible side effects. Then I asked my pain management doctor to prescribe me Lyrica after having read that on top of pain, it is good for both anxiety and insomnia. I have only been on 50mg three times a day for five days, but I can honestly say my anxiety is gone, and I've slept seven to eight straight hours a night since starting it with zero side effects. I don't care if I have to take this for the rest of my life. If so, I will. It is a miracle drug."

Pregabalin for Neuropathic Pain "I suffer nerve pain from spinal cord injury; central stenosis, foramenal stenosis, multiple disc bulges and tears, sciatica and chronic migraines. Lyrica is a game changer. I have tried many drugs for the unbearable pain including but not limited to narcotics, and I have to say I have not been more comfortable since starting 300mg daily. I used to not be able to sleep for more than a few hours a night for years because of pain. I was purely bedridden and suffered chronic migraines from the constant high blood pressure from pain. All of those out there that suffer from the nerve pain that feels like a knife cutting you from the inside NEED to try Lyrica, and all those that have not been able to manage your pain with narcotics should give Lyrica a try. The only side effects I have experienced are reduced libido, chronic fatigue, and feeling groggy in the morning when waking. I will say it's all worth the relief it brings."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "Not sure if it's too early to be sharing my experience with Lyrica, but there are some important things you should know. I started about a week ago with 75mgX2, one in the morning and one in the evening. I also take 150mg of Effexor and 15mg of Remeron, both in the evening. The Pregabalin was stronger than I expected (I'm a big man, 120kg) and I experienced some dizziness. When I drank 3 beers (3x 0.5 Ltrs) one evening, I had some heavy suicidal thoughts the next morning. I stopped taking Lyrica after 3 days because of the suicidal thoughts. On the fifth day, due to my intense anxiety, I decided to take just 75mg in the mornings and cut out all alcohol. This seems to have worked as I have far less anxiety and I am more social, but it's too early to say. The other side effect I experience is overeating. I suggest you begin with the lowest dose of this drug as you never know what to expect. Merry Christmas and a HAPPY 2020."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I've been dealing with GAD and panic attacks for years. I took an SSRI, one SSRI worked for depression but increased anxiety. I took benzos for a few weeks as an emergency, but the addiction is real, guys! I know people who got addicted. With pregabalin, I understand that people apparently can get addicted. I can describe the feeling as somewhat similar to alcohol, just without the euphoria. Your nervous system gets dialed down. So, be aware, there is some potential, and talk to your doctor if you feel addicted! But for me, it worked wonders. The effect in the blood is immediate (2 hours), but the effect in my brain took 8 days to really kick in. I do feel much better and a calmness that I haven't felt in years. I feel an acceptance of the bad stuff in life that I just couldn't accept before. I know those reviews always sound 'fake' or 'made up,' but I just want people to know this stuff works. Alright, good luck everyone, and be safe, and talk to your doctor if you feel addicted."

For Pain "I have been having major back pain for over 6 years. I have been on numerous narcotics (hydrocodone, tramadol, codeine). Then my doctor gave me a script for pregabalin (Lyrica). It sat in my cupboard as I was scared to take it due to the many horrible reviews. Then one day I decided to try it. Wow! 3 days on it and I take anywhere from 100mg to 150mg daily. The first 2 days I was tired, almost zombie-like and could not keep my eyes open. But now I feel great, no pain, and no need for strong painkillers (which is huge as I have been taking codeine for 5 years). My mood has improved as well. Dare I say I feel happy again? I know it has only been a few days, but so far, pregabalin has changed my life for the better."

Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia "I've been suffering from 24/7 muscle pain (chronic upper body tension, spasms, muscle pain, headaches, etc.) every day for 8 years. I started Lyrica 3 weeks ago at 50 mg 2x a day. Other than a little fuzzy fibro brain, which is not uncommon for me, I've had no major side effects at all. I bumped it up to 50 mg in the a.m. At the 2-week mark, I wasn't feeling much better, so I bumped the dose another 25 mg a day in the a.m. for a total of 75 mg a day. Oh my God ... I haven't felt this good in years!! It's been about a week now, and I don't want to jinx it, but, honestly, Lyrica is life-changing for me ... and I haven't gained a single pound!"

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I was suffering from persistent nausea. I lost a lot of weight as eating was difficult. I had many tests, and my doctor concluded the problem was mental, not physical. He prescribed Pregabalin, 75mg twice a day, and the improvement came almost immediately. I feel much calmer, much reduced anxiety, have my appetite back, and the nausea mostly eliminated. I would strongly recommend this medicine. It does make you want to eat, but this was a boon at first as I had lost a lot of weight, but no other side effects as far as I can tell. Maybe a bit of drowsiness. This medicine gave me my life back so give it a go if you have run out of other ideas."

I take 200 mg/day, occasionally I’ll have to bump it up a little, but overall 200 mg keeps me anxiety-free. I often think back to the day my Dr. came back into the examination room and tossed sample boxes of Lyrica, telling me to try it, might help. Man, did it!"

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I'm about 3 weeks into this pregabalin drug at a relatively low dose, and I cannot believe the effect it is having on me. My social anxiety seems to be gone, vamoose, eradicated! Just for reference, I'm a pretty cynical person who didn't hold much hope for Lyrica, as I've had bad experiences with Cipralex and Effexor. However, the transformation in my confidence and sense of calm is staggering. Long may it continue!"
