MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Bowel Preparation "First colonoscopy for me and I was really sweating this prep. I decided against the pills, and chose the MiraLAX/Dulcolax prep. Did tons of research. For 5 days prior to the 1-day liquid diet, I went on a low residue diet and started drinking coconut water and Body Armor (not gatorade). I'm certain this helped!! Took the dulcolax and although not prescribed, I also took a dramamine and a gas-x. I did the split-dose and started drinking the first 32 oz. mixture the night before (with BodyArmor, on ice with a straw, 8 oz. every 15-20 mins.) , and also drank chicken bone broth and coconut water in between. A little over an hour later, the games began. 4-1/2 hrs. later, I felt like I could relax. Slept like a baby. I had no cramping and only slight discomfort. Next morning, same. You will want to stay close to the bathroom! You won't be able to hold it. Doc said clean as a whistle, so I will definitely do this prep again."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Bowel Preparation "I came on here to read reviews because I wanted to know what other people's experience was with this colonoscopy prep. I got so scared by reading some of these reviews that I built up a crazy amount of anxiety about my entire procedure. Obviously everyone will have their own experience. A colonoscopy prep is designed to make you poop a lot. I had ZERO bad side effects. In fact this prep was a pretty gentle one. Yes, I did have a sore butt but that comes with any colonoscopy prep. Don't let the negative reviews scare you. I took 4 ducolax and then drank the Miralax mixed in Gatorade. I did 8oz every 15 min until I finished the entire mixture the evening before. In the morning I only had to drink 32oz. I mixed that in water. It did have a very slight taste in water but it wasn't bad. I did prefer it in Gatorade but it was a lot of Gatorade to drink the night before. Anyway, all went very well. No bad side effects. I was a little cold but seriously nothing unbearable AT ALL! Good prep."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Bowel Preparation "This is the second time I took Miralax and had an allergic reaction to it. I was on steroids before my last colonoscopy so it did not bother me. The last time I took Miralax the Dr. could barely see, almost like a poop storm without wipers. Not good prep for me. So I have to reschedule to get another polyp out. And don't ever use the word constipation or they will place you on a 3 day no food regiment. Then Draino."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "The Mirlax is really easy for me to use. Very effective. The reason for posting is I was wondering if there was a way for a person like myself who has used this puduct for many years... could have a more easier way of pouring it into a water bottle for example. Much like Crystal light packets but in a way so it does not copy Crystal light company's companies idea. Yet is still effective for people who have a hard time pouring the medicine themselves without making huge mess. Thank you very much."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation, Acute "I’ve used miralax previously with success. Most recently after a number of issues, change in diet and medication changes I had developed significant constipation issues. After a few days of discomfort and a fear of straining creating other issues such as hemorrhoids and diverticulitis, I decided to give it a try again. Worked within an hour on a full dose. No major cramping or pain, but definitely a need to go. The most uncomfortable side effect was the excessive sweating. Didn’t last long but was quite uncomfortable. Some mild nausea when it first started but ended quickly as I continued to have bowel movements."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Bowel Preparation "Rare side effect (high blood pressure spike) encountered: My doctor recommended that I use Miralax to prep for my colonoscopy. The instructions were to take 8.3oz (roughly 15 doses) the day before and then another 4 doses four hours before the procedure. Everything went as expected until I got to the appointment and as they were getting me checked in and ready for the procedure discovered I had dangerously high blood pressure (I.e. over 200/100). I wasn’t nervous about the procedure and had just had my BP checked a week earlier and it was around 150/80, still not the best, but nowhere near where it was after my prep. The only thing that had changed between the lower reading and the higher one was the colon prep with Miralax. WebMD lists it as a rare side effect, so likely it happened to be one of the rare cases. I wanted to share in case anyone else runs into this and can’t figure out why their BP went sky-high after using a high dosage of MiraLax."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "I am 20 years old and have had problems with bowel movements since I've been potty trained. I've usually had one extreme to the other but going to the bathroom was never easy for me. I finally went to see my doctor to see if there was anything we could do about this. Throughout my childhood I've been on different medications, but nothing helped. Now finding out I'm lactose intolerant doesn't help either). She prescribed me Miralax and I have to say when I use it correctly (that is taking it everyday and drinking enough liquids with it) it works wonders. I no longer get stomach cramps or gas. "

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "My constipation caused a rectal fissure. The tear would re-open every time I had a bowel movement. I'd been on various stool softeners and laxatives trying to heal the fissure, but nothing worked until I started on Miralax. Now the fissure is healed and I am pain free. So very thankful. Just wondering why I had to go to a colon specialist before I found out about this product. Why didn't the other doctor I went to suggest this product?"

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "I had been struggling with constipation since I was 19 from taking Tylenol 3's for pain and had tried every laxative imaginable. I even tried colon hydrotherapy and that did nothing for me. I am now 24 and have been taking Miralax for the past month and I have never felt better. It feels great to be regular again. Prior to Miralax I was going once a week."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "I'm a 24yr old that recently had back surgery. They had me on tons of medications, of course, one being a stool softener because a lot of medicine intake tends to make one constipated. Well, the stool softer that I had to take twice daily didn't work one bit. I got so bloated and had some serious stomach pains, that I finally decided to try a laxative (never having tried one before, I was alittle intimidated). Now, before injuring myself and having the surgery, my BMs were extremely regular: once a day. After that, I was rarely going. When I tried Miralax it worked within the hour of drinking it in some ginger ale! I felt SO MUCH BETTER! It makes your stomach gurgle and gives slight cramps, but worth it in the long run!"

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "Not long after a colonoscopy my movements seemed off. I thought it was no biggie -- until things basically shut down. I never knew that constipation could be so tough and depressing and scary. It was like my body was rebelling and not obeying orders. Got a box of MiraLax packets and took my first daily dose around 6PM, hoping that it would work and not take three days. Within a few hours it seemed like something was happening. There was some gurgling and expelled gas. Normally that might be bad, but under the circumstances it was a hopeful sign. Around 1AM I finally went and it was painful and not fun--but what a relief! Have had two more movements since then (its the next day) and each one has been easier than the last. So just one dose and seemingly back to normal! I can't imagine what a chronic case of this must be like.... I almost feel guilty that my cure went so well. Anyway there's no bad taste to it and I'm glad it worked. Worth a try, I think."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "After several weeks of constipation (not that I was ever regular), my doctor had me try this. Ironically I'd just picked up a package of it. I took it around 5pm and had a bowel movement at 9am the following morning. I want several times after that. There was lots of tummy grumbling but no cramps to speak of. I did feel "off" the rest of the day but I believe that was due to a fever with the cold I was coming down with. Would definitely use this again."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "I have always had constipation all my adult life. I had a C section at the age of 20 and at 25 I had a partial hysterectomy which was the start of the constipation. I used laxatives and enemas for years until laxatives made me so sick I just used enemas daily. Between ages 25 to 32 I had 4 female surgeries including the partial hysterectomy. During all this I was also diagnosed with spastic colon and anxiety issues. I have done the milk of magnesia, magnesium citrate liquid, and enemas all these years. Now I take 2 capfuls daily of the Miralax powder from behind the counter and most days have 2 or 3 bowel movements. Occasionally I do use milk of magnesia when I feel I am not emptying good but Miralax is less harsh."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "I have chronic constipation, so the doctor told me to take it daily with the drink of choice. Before you read: don't get me wrong. It does a wonderful job. Effortless, painless, easy, quick bowel movements and relief within 24 hours. It's very effective. But taking it is a pain! Every time I take it, it tastes so bad (the flavorless one) no matter what drink I put it in that I have to drink it holding my breath with a straw over the sink in case I vomit and rinse my mouth out with soap afterwards. It's actually conditioned me to stop drinking some beverages because the taste reminds me of when I mixed it with miralax. I gag so badly after taking it. The nausea and burping from it usually lasts for 2 hours after I take it and I have trouble keeping it down and not vomiting from the taste. I just can't understand how so many people like taking this stuff. Disgusting! I hate it so much. I detest it from the bottom of my soul."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "It may have helped the slightest bit but it was not worth the side effects. First it was feeling really warm, increased heart rate, shaking, and breathing issues and then it became a stomach ache and a really bad bout of dizziness. I also didn't even use a full dose for adults and only took two drinks of my water, and I was down for the rest of the day. A healthy 21 year old female and I have no known preexisting conditions that would have interfered."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "I had miralax after a surgery last week. I took it once daily, it didn't produce a bowel movement for 6 days but when it did the stool was soft and came out without straining which is good because I had open heart surgery. I will continue to take it until I am off of the pain medication which last time I was on it caused a horrendously painful softball size poop."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "I’ve been constipated for the last 5 years after 2 major surgeries on my brain/spine due to brain cancer which left me paralyzed. My dr finally prescribed miralax after other laxatives were not working. I’m really hoping this works as at the moment I only have a bowel movement once every 1-2 weeks. As of today it’s actually been 3 weeks and 2 days since I’ve had a BM. Just took this medication an hour ago and I already have diarrhea. I hope this doesn’t last long. I just want a normal BM for once "

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "I am on my fourth day and still no bowel motion. Each time I took at night an hour before bedtime with water and it's amazing because there really isn't a taste at all. You would never know anything was added to the water. Just make sure you stir it so the water is pretty clear to keep it tasteless. I do have to say over the last 4 days I haven't had any bloating or gas."

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "After taking a new medication for 10 days with no problem, once I titrated my dose to twice what I'd been taking, I ceased to poop. No poop other than a few "rabbit turds" here and there, for 6 days. On the 4th day of no poop, I took a dose of Miralax. On the 5th day, I took a dose in the AM and one in the PM, at bedtime. Same thing on the 6th day. Finally, I'd had enough waiting. I did the Dulculax/Miralax Colon Cleanse for Colonoscopy that is listed on many medical facility websites. I chose one with 4 tablets of Dulculax, followed a few hrs later by 8.3oz (approximately 14 doses) of Miralax dissolved into 64oz of Gatorade. It took 6 hrs after taking the Dulculax/nearly 2.5 hrs in of drinking the drink, for it to finally kick in. Whew!"

MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol 3350) for Constipation "Ok, so I had a doctor's appointment for yearly check-up. Decided to get honest and tell the nurse practitioner about my experiences in the bathroom. I had years of rectal bleeding, painful BMs, and likely a fissure. Lots of apprehension, I figured that I might even need an operation on the hemorrhoids. So she said I am going to prescribe you MiraLAX and take a cap daily. So in 2 days, my BM came and it was not painful and soft but formed. I cut down to half a cap a day and now it has been 4-5 months and I never have pain or bleeding or nonsense in the bathroom since. I do not care if I am addicted to it. The stuff is an important quality of life medication for me."
