"Taste terrible!!! This laxative (Plenvu) tastes holy grail worth of terrible! But it gets the job done and is gentle. You just have to drink it followed by something else to kill of the laxative taste in your mouth. The first laxative mango flavor absolutely disgusting I mean horrifying flavor. The second one is a little easier. Main thing is it works but tastes terrible."

"I will not use this product again. First dose of Plenvu was unbearable, took me an hour to finish and thought I would vomit afterwards. Second dose just as bad but so much nausea I’m unable to finish entire jar. I get the reason we all elect to have the colonoscopy, but there had to be a better way! They can send a man to the moon, can’t they make this process better??? Just hope I get through the night without throwing up."

"Trialled Plenvu for a colonoscopy prep. It's only the 2nd time I've had the procedure, the previous time I used Picolax. I found plenvu very easy to use and fast acting. I had a morning appt at 8am. I took my first dose at 4.25pm the night before (taking half an hour to drink the solution as advised) - was already active by 5.10pm! I only went 3 or 4 times before I went to bed at 11.30pm. Woke up at 2am for the 2nd dose (again, taking half an hour to drink the solution) and went another 2 times after that. Had my last drink of water at 5.30am and had to go once more in the hospital just before my appointment at 8am. All in all was a pretty smooth process. Picolax I had to wait for a long time before it worked, and it was a cramping sensation each time. This was more of a gentle urge and no pressure or pain involved. The big downside is the taste. I struggled with it and I'm pretty tolerant. The dose 1 was pretty disgusting, dose 2 was better. I would still recommend it though."

"Ok its 2:30 am and I am working on part 2 of Plenvu bowel prep. So here is my experience. Part 1 tastes awful. You should never make a medication drink taste like mango! NEVER! But I got it down. Was on the pot for 4 hours. Woke up at 2 am for part 2. Taste is a little better. Fruit punch. Still hard to get down. Will update when I am finished. Lol Ok get over half way done with part 2 and threw it all up. Still feel nauseous."

"I was glad I only had to drink half as much prep as I did ten years ago but the nausea, vomiting and chills were unexpected side effects. I know there is some really bright person who can develop a better prep that doesn’t include drinking horrible liquids that cause such nausea and vomiting and a general feeling of being ill. I am not exaggerating when I say this prep taste horrible and the thick salty sweet is almost impossible to drink. I hope it works and I can have the procedure tomorrow morning. If not, I won’t repeat this prep again and will ask for the older stuff that was bad but didn’t make me sick."

"This is my second colonoscopy and my first time using this bowel prep. Took the first dose around 5pm and it was a horrible “mango” flavor but managed to get it down. Stayed on the pot and was pretty confident I was cleared out by 11pm. Second dose at 5am tasted so bad it made me throw up a small amount several times afterwards. Managed to get it down finally which resulted in severe stomach pain and cramps up until the time of my procedure. The procedure itself went well but a full day later my stomach is still tender and sore from the bowel prep cramps the second dose gave me. The pain and gas appears to be dissipating but I would not recommend this product to anyone. I don’t remember the name of the bowel prep I used last time but it was cheaper and didn’t have as many horrible side effects."

"This is my 9th bowel prep so I have experienced all of them. I was supposed to use Preopik but found out it had been discontinued and a prep called Clenpiq had taken its place. Very low volume preps. I loved them! After numerous errors on the part of the pharmacy I could not get what I needed in time. 16 oz followed by 16 oz fluid in an hour didn’t feel low. I have done the first packet. It was the worst thing I have ever tasted. I used a lemon ice chaser in between gulps because the bitterness was horrible. It does work though. I have been in the bathroom about 20 times in 4 hours and I’m pretty clean. No cramps but also no warning! Stand up very carefully after drinking this! Lol! Now I’m not sure about 5 am tomorrow morning. Not sure that will stay down but I’m going pretty clear right now so I’m hoping I can do the final flush tomorrow. So for taste I give it a -1. For effectiveness I give it a 9. Not sure I would ask for it again."

"I just took the first envelope but barely got it down. Threw up on last swallow. That is the worst tasting stuff I have ever had! I am dreading taking the second dose. It is supposed to be worse, per my husband. Already feel like throwing up again! I will never use this again!"

"This was my third colonoscopy and I was told Plenvu was better than the product I used before (an inexpensive over the counter product). First, I don’t understand why I had to pay $132 for a product, at best, the same as the stuff that costs $8-$10. Second, I found it really hard to get down (couldn’t finish the second dose) and found the “expulsion” not nearly as thorough. I’m not sure if it was the prep or the procedure, but felt pretty awful for a few days versus being up and about almost immediately after the previous ones. As far as I can tell, there is no advantage to match the extra cost and for me, a really awful experience. I will not use again."

"I was prescribed Plenvu prep for an upcoming colonoscopy, which was today. The first dose is flavored with artificial mango flavor and. It was the most vile thing I'd ever tasted. I managed to get the majority of it down. There was 1 ounce I couldn't finish. Before I was done I had explosive diarrhea. I didn't make it to the bathroom. From here on out it was pure liquid that ran through me. I took the second dose 6 hours later and it was even worse than the first dose. I could only finish 14 of the 16 ounces. Again, it just ran right through me. I'd eaten extremely light Monday through Wednesday and I think that helped tremendously. Shortly after the second dose my head began to throb. I'd been hydrating before and during the first dose and struggled mightily with the second. All I could smell and taste was the disgusting fruit punch flavor. I finally dozed off around 1am. Woke up at 5am and had passed more liquid in my sleep."

"Jan 23, 2020 - Plenvu box has multiple instructions. There is Dose 1 and Dose 2. Enough to confuse you, plus an added instruction from the MD's office. I followed the instruction on Jan 22, day before. My last bowel movement was Jan 22 at 10:30pm. I followed the instruction on Jan 23, the day of my procedure. My last bowel movement was 16:15 ON surgery table. I experienced everything the previous reviewers experienced too plus on the surgery table. Half-Litely was much more tolerable any day. I never got an indication of a bowel movement. The fluid was like a roman candle. It blew out like a fire cracker."

"Terrible product. The gatorade and Miralax prep was much better without the side effects. Plenvu was awful tasting and caused severe nausea. The nausea lasted into the second day after the colonoscopy was completed. I plan to tell the doctor that I do not want to use this product again."

"This was my 5th colonoscopy and Plenvu was the worst bowel prep I've ever had to take. The taste was awful, salty sweet. The first dose didn't make me nauseous but the second did. I was vomiting all night besides the bowel movements and didn't get any sleep. I also had chills. I followed the directions exactly. I will never take this stuff again."

"It was painfully rough drinking the Plenvu solutions. I suffer from gastritis and this gave me such a nausea that I can't help but wonder why I was sent this poison... it is effective since I keep going to the bathroom... but drinking the solution was absolutely excruciating!!"

"I don’t suggest chugging it, but it helped get it down. Do not breathe thru your nose or you taste it more. (This especially helped with dose 2!) When they say shake until dissolve, DO IT! (Don’t skimp on the shaking because you’re half awake the next morning.) Dose 1, chugged it & chased it with the required 16 ounces of water but I also swished with a little kool-aid. (Don’t use red, I am told it will freak the doctors out later!) Mine didn’t start working until about an hour & 45 minutes in. That might be because I had a large dinner the night before. (Poor ideas & regret abound at my house.) Dude. This works. (I found my car keys from 1987, jk, but trust me it gets things moving.) slept off & on between trips to poo-town. Up at 630 for more of this stuff. Chugged it to but through my groggy stupor I didn’t realize it didn’t quite dissolve. Insert regret. Gagged but got through. Now I’m writing this from the potty. You can do this!!"

"I used Suprep for my last colonoscopy and was pleased. The Dr talked me into Plenvu claiming it was a better product. Well he was wrong. Suprep tastes better and is more effective, with less time spent on the toilet. I don't see how they claim the dose is less volume, both are 16ozs. Do yourself a favor and ask for Suprep over Plenvu."

"Took my first dose, it was HORRIBLE tasting I could barely take a sip without gagging in disgust. I got a method of a sip of the medicine then a sip of apple juice going and that worked. About 8 hours later I started my second dose which surprisingly tasted even worse than the first dose, I drunk half and after 5 minutes projectile vomited everything. I waited about 10 minutes and finished the rest and laid down thinking I would be fine, nope as soon as I got back up I projectile vomited the rest again. Hopefully I will still be able to have my procedure, but seeing as I threw up all of dose 2, I’m not sure how that will go. 0/10 would not recommend, if you have any other options PLEASE go with those."

"Many preps in past. Plenvu is the least amount of fluid intake required that I have tried (why it was appealing). However, Plenvu is the only prep that has made me strongly vomit after second dose. Probably won't take again for future colonoscopy because can't imagine doing all this torture or preparing to throw up the ending and not have an acceptable result and having to do the prep all over again! No thank you!"

"I gave this a 10 for effectiveness because it is unbelievably effective and powerful. That is the only good thing I can say. I have so far used the first part of this prep. Within less than 10 minutes I was running to bathroom. Sat for over an hour before I could safely get up. The cramps and stomach pain were terrible. The taste is horrible. I used a straw to try avoiding the taste and still gagged with every drink. Still trying not to throw up. I would never recommend this stuff."

"This is the most disgusting tasting thing I've have ever had. It tastes like its been made with sea water. Drinking 2 pints of the stuff in 2 sessions is torture. The only good thing is it works quickly and i had no side effects. Surely someone can come up with a better tasting one"

"This was my first colonoscopy and I will admit that after reading some of these reviews, I was worried, but overall, had a good experience with Plenvu. I followed the exact instructions that my doctor gave me for prep. The taste was not too bad. Dose two was harder for me than dose one and I did feel a bit nauseous, but it passed. Worked great and I had no abdominal cramps or pain. I took my first does at 4 pm and the second at 8 pm for an 8:40 am colonoscopy the following day. I did not eat any food at all the day before the procedure and just drank the clear liquids suggested. I would recommend this prep. I am going to ask for some anti nausea medication next time, but will request Plenvu again for my prep."

"My first colonoscopy I'm 52 so it was time. Took the Plenvu with 16 oz of water at 2pm day before my procedure. The taste was horrible -- like someone mixed melted gummi bears with ocean water and some pepper too boot. I could barely get it down. 30 minutes later a fire hose of hot liquid lava flushed out of my ass. Every time I thought I was done and could finally flush and attempt to stand up, another round of open faucet drainage came from my butthole. I was not aware the anus could flush like that, but it can. I was dreading the 2nd dose which was 10pm (night before procedure). I was right to have dread. 2nd dosage evoked an immediate gag reflex -- as if my body yelled, "I've seen this horror flick before and I'm not going to watch it again!" How I didn't throw up I don't know -- perhaps it's because all my bodily fluids left 10 hours earlier. With second dosage, I was on toilet well past midnight, fearing I would permanently ruin my mattress if I laid down."

"This was the most disgusting thing I have ever drank in my life. I've had 3 colonoscopies with no problem before but I could barely drink the first dose and although the second one tasted a teeny bit better, I threw everything up and had to have an enema instead. If I had none this beforehand I never would have used it. It was really gross"

"Taking the Plenvu was a terrible experience for my daughter. It tasted of salt almost other things, just awful. The drink made my daughter retch and after the 2nd dose she was violently sick. There were no bowel movements whatsoever and therefore the procedure will have to be cancelled. Thank you to this page as it was very helpful whilst going through the problems last night."

"I followed the directions and had no problems. The taste wasn’t bad (I chilled it prior to use, used a straw and took sips of water between swigs). I’ve certainly tasted worse things in my life. Doctor said excellent prep. First time colonoscopy for me so I don’t have a basis for comparison for other prep products. While not enjoyable, I didn’t find the prep process that unpleasant. I look at it as a necessary 2 day inconvenience to help me stay healthy. Three sessile polyps (flat polyps) were found and removed; well worth it! I didn’t eat anything solid for 24 hours prior to starting the prep and think that helped."
