"I am 21 and taking Oxybutynin for an overactive bladder, it has made a world of difference from peeing nearly every hour (or less) to now peeing every 3-4 hours. However, I suffer from mild nausea almost continuously from the medicine and headaches. For me it is worth it but for some it may not be."

Oxytrol (oxybutynin) "I've been struggling for months. I pee. I still need to pee, badly. Go again. Same feeling. No burning, but cramps like a period and sex is terribly painful. Haven't been to the doctor yet but I think I know what's going on, as a nurse, I've seen this. Struggled for months. I put the patch on yesterday, not even 24 hrs and I feel 80% better. I still feel it, but not near how I did. And if it gets better from here that would be amazing! I recommend this patch highly, maybe I should have waited a few days to post this, but the fact that I feel this good already needed to be shared. Worth every penny, and if you think about it, it is not that expensive. I usually get skin irritation from patches, and it's a little itchy already but weighing out the pros and cons, who cares about itchy skin! Now if it blisters I'll be SOL. but for now I have hope. I thought I had none."

Ditropan (oxybutynin) "Started using ditropan (5mg) 3 days ago. On day one I took it with breakfast and noticed that post-shower while drying my hair (and straightening) it I didn't have a bead of sweat in sight! This dosage and medicine type has definitely kept me dry all-day long since then. I do however still sweat quite a bit at the gym but once I am done exercising I am no longer sweating at all (I would usually sweat quite a bit after the gym). I am giving it an 8/10 because it seems to wear off near the end of the day but I may just need to up the dosage a tiny bit."

"Prescribed oxybutnin er 10 MG once a day for OAB. Female 23 yes old. Ive been taking it for a little over two weeks with no real improvement. The only thing I can notice us perhaps I am able to empty my bladder a little easier, but not much. Still have urgency, spasms, and frequentl urination. Made my mouth and lips very very very dry. Made me thirsty but didn't help me at all. I'm sorry but I don't recommend it. Vesicare was the only thing I think will actually help me, too bad it costs $200 and my insurance refuses to pay for it."

"I took Oxybutynin 5mg for 6 weeks for my overactive bladder. while it curbed that in great fashion, it created side effects that got worse and worse. I experienced drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, dry mouth and blurred vision. I stopped taking this medication. One last note, if you take a depression med (in my case Amitriptyline) those meds can actually increase these side effects, take this medicine with caution!"

Oxytrol (oxybutynin) "I have been using the patches for about eight months I still feel like my bladder is full even after going to toilet I wake thru the night about twice a night but funny thing I can get thru 6 hours of voluntary work before needing to go bathroom as soon as I get home which at times I am ready to burst I feel the patch is working fifty percent of time for me. I am having trouble trying to get four days out of a patch as they get very brittle and bubble up. I try not to let them get wet in shower but clothing lifts it too. I guess they need to work on the kind of plaster to use that stays put on the skin. Also I do get black marks from adhesive and lint from cloth but I use eucalyptus oil and tissue to remove and then shower wipe area dry and reapply bandage I give the product a fifty percent out of a hundred percent but wish the constant urge and fullness would ease and also dry mouth and sinus problem seems to be more frequent but guess better than nothing "

"I took one dosage of this oxybutynin and ended up in urgent care with bad heart pain, low blood pressure, and dizziness. I honestly thought it was a heart attack. You couldn't pay me any amount of money to take this drug again."

"Well this is my 4th night taking this medicine. I decided to look up side effects of it and I found this page. I must say I'm scared straight. I think I've experienced dry mouth. But that's cuz I wanna cut my water intake after a certain time at night. I think one time I did have difficulty starting a stream of urine, and my bladder felt really full a few times. Oh and I go to the bathroom every 2 1/2 to 3 hours at night so that's 3 times at night when in bed by 9pm. Moving forward "

"mary4589 --along with your dry mouth, did you have any dryness of skin at the fingers and palms of your hands --I mean severe wrinkling of fingers and palms like you have been in the tub for a week? I was 2 weeks on this med and it's been 4 months off and still have extreme dry mouth. I have cut off all other meds and vitamins to figure out what is causing this dry mouth and hands, but after reading the reviews it could be this medication has permanently cut off our saliva system. for all others who are thinking about taking this med - think about how this will not only affects your bladder problem but everything to do with water in your system."

"I have taken oxybutin since Dec. 2016. Since then I have had little blisters on the side of my tongue and they hurt constantly. My insurance will not cover any other bladder medication so they continue to give me this mediation. I KNOW that there are more medications out there but cannot get any thing else. My insurance is CareSource and they won't approve anything else. My concern is I am suppose I will lose my teeth???? what do you think?"

"I’ve been impressed with how much this medicine has helped in conjunction with Pyridium at making life bearable. I’ve had a stent placed and must have it for 14 days. When I take this medication I can be comfortable for at least 5 hours at a time!"

"I went to a bladder specialist after continuous issues. Immediately after I started oxybutynin I had mini seizures after the 2nd dose and blacked out, also lost hearing for about 10 minutes. I was rushed to the E.R 2 times and continued having seizures for a while. Cat scans were done and they were normal, it was from the medication. The emergency room doctor claimed that a lot of people have reactions to this medication and mini seizures is one of them. I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND taking this."

"I did have dry eyes for a couple of days but using the eye drops because I have always had dry eyes helps a lot. I am so happy to not be running to the bathroom every ten minutes is a blessing. Some days I was not able to make it home, always had to stop. So it works for me. We must realize that each of us will not experience the same thing. What effects one person may not effect the other."

"I love this oxybutynin stuff. For a couple of months all I did as live in fear of wetting myself. I wore thick pads all the time, because my bladder would all of a sudden just purge. After 4 days on this, I got control of my bladder again. I have used it 6 weeks now at 5 mg, twice a day. So much happier and able to leave the house again. If you need to you can increase up to a maximum of 20 mg. a day. I still wear a pad, but a much smaller one and rarely leak. My mouth gets horribly dry, but I keep a drink handy and take a sip when needed. Happy now!"

"I've tried the others that dry your eyes and mouth, blurr your vision and even paralyze your muscles so that you can't urinate without concentrating on it. This one is the winner. It cuts incontinence and overactive bladder with no side effects. I love it."

"This is only my third day on oxybutynin and I’m ready to stop taking it. Day 1 I felt loopy and could not concentrate, with dry mouth and eyes. Day 2 and 3 have me feeling (in addition to day 1 symptoms) very anxious and short of breath and it seems to be making my hair/scalp greasy! The anxiety and the way it makes my hair feel after just three days might be worse than going to the bathroom every 30-45 mins. So torn because it does seem to have alleviated some of the urges to go to the bathroom after just 3 days. 18-19 were my average daily and today was only 10-12!"

Oxytrol for Women (oxybutynin) "I was on the gel for years, but now evidently my insurance no longer pays or it is off the market. I tried the patch and really liked it,but now I find it is off the market. WHY WHEN WE WOMEN FIND SOMETHING THAT WORKS DO THE COMPANIES TAKE IT OFF THE MARKET. Frustrated consumer."

"58 to male. I suffered bouts of Overactive bladder on and off over a couple of years, sought urologist review when couldn't sleep after night shift due to constant urge to void. Drinking any less than 2L/day of water made things worse. Oxybutinin 5mg BD relieved symptoms but full blood workup indicated grossly raised TSH levels. There's some evidence night duty can cause autoimmune disorders. Prescribed levothyroxine and 6 weeks later no symptoms and oxy ceased. Get a full set of bloods done as sometimes bladder irritability can be a symptom and not a diagnosis."

"This drug was the best one I have ever taken for overactive bladder. The only other drug I have taken was Vesicare. It helped some the side effects. The effectiveness of Vesicare was marginal at best. However the side effects of Oxybutynin for me were intolerable. It made extremely sleepy, had difficulty driving, no appetite and fatigue beyond belief. I was only on this drug for one week. These side effects lasted a little over a week but are now very slowly going away. I am switching to generic Detrol and hoping for the best."

"The daily use of Oxybutynin has worked wonderfully for me. I have not experienced any side effects what-so-ever. I would say that it has stopped at least 98% of my bladder spasms. Reducing the "constant" urge to go "all" the time to almost never."

"I am 14 years old and I suffer from OAB. I constantly have the urge to use the bathroom, every second of the day. I have been taking this medicine since October. I was taking one a day until December, when I took 3 a day because it wasn't working. Now I am on 4 times a day for maybe 2 weeks and I feel absolutely no improvement. It is so frustrating because I'm in highschool, and I got to the bathroom 8 times a school day. I don't know what else to do, or if these pills will end up working at all."

"I took oxybutynin which worked great. NO one told me about being older, that I could get severe side effects. Did not know it was the drug. No one whom is over 65 should take it. So far no one has offered any help on alleviating problems except to see a neurologist. Not fair. No one counselled me. DO NOT TAKE THIS. PADS are cheaper to use than feeling like I have lost my mind and it seems no one really cared."

Gelnique (oxybutynin) "This is the third medicine I've tried. You rub it into your thigh or arm area (I couldn't do arms because I have tattoos and was told not to because of that.). It takes awhile to dry and is sticky. I was paranoid one of my dogs would get it on their skin, as they are always on my lap. One a scale of 1 to 10 if 10 is perfect, I would give this a 4. It worked a little, enough to notice, but not enough to be happy. I did not like applying it at all. I am now on Santura and love it. See my review of that medicine. Good luck!"

"I used this medication for neurogenic bladder with constant UTI's. It helped my bladder, but I got dry mouth and severe sinus swelling. I was unable to breath out my nose and eventually got sinusitis and had to stop the medication after 3 months."
