For Migraine Prevention "I had a horrific response to the Botox I had for migraines. I ended up 5 days in the ER after the most recent set of injections. Severe heart palpitations, low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, feeling faint, weak, dizzy, rash all over my body, muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing, tightness in my throat, severe dry mouth, tingling in my hands, feet, limbs, etc. I will NEVER get these injections again. There have been days I can barely get up, so severely fatigued and weak. Stabbing random pains, difficulty sleeping, chest tightness and pain, back, head, and neck pain, it has completely halted my way of daily life. Severely puffy eyelids and one is droopy. It has been almost a month since injections, and I am still nowhere near normal. I was told the only thing they can offer me is life support at the hospital if I stop breathing on my own. This has been terrifying. It has caused sudden extreme anxiety, which I didn't have at all before. My neurologist made it sound like the worst that could happen is a droopy eyelid."

For Migraine Prevention "Botox is your last resort, they said. Before Botox, I had 3-4 migraines a week. I didn't like the frequent medicine, but I could usually catch it early and hadn't vomited for years. 32 Botox shots were prescribed at my 1st appointment (kickbacks, anyone?) and 3-4 migraines/week turned to 6-7/week. I managed to avoid sumatriptan for 3 days this month with the help of massive doses of caffeine and pain meds I take for a degenerative, painful condition. Always had neck pain, now it's 10x worse in a cramping spasm nightly and 24/7 pain way. Deafening tinnitus (ears ringing), BP and heart rate up, possibly due to Botox pain levels. I breathe shallowly, catch myself doing it, and bizarro heart flutters and faint/dizzy spells I've never felt at 42 years old. My head has not stopped hurting for a minute since Botox, and they're weird migraines - they feel different from my typical migraine and are much harder to treat. Scalp feels swollen. I'm glad I tried, but my miracle drug, it is not!"

For Migraine Prevention "I dumbly took Botox for migraines after not researching the potentially dangerous and fatal side effects. Botox is a dangerous neurotoxin that can cause the symptoms of botulism if it spreads. This is exactly what has happened to me. Side effects included extreme muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, difficulty swallowing and breathing, as well as vertigo, ringing in the ears, and burning and numbness in my arms and legs. Side effects lasted longer than the 3-6 months I was told they would by doctors. Do your research before trying Botox."

For Migraine Prevention "I had Botox treatments for my migraines for about a year and a half. I was thrilled as it completely took away my migraines and I had no side effects. I had my life back. Then last August I went to get my regular 3-month injections at 4 p.m. By 7 p.m. that evening, I was experiencing dizziness. By the next day, I had a severe headache, neck pain, dizziness, trouble swallowing, pain in my shoulders, etc. It was terrible. My doctor told me he didn't think it was from the Botox, but that I probably caught a virus at the same time I got the shots. Seriously? Here I am, 3 months later, and I can hardly hold up my head. I have headaches, shoulder pain, neck pain, pain, and numbness going down my arms. The dizziness has never gone away."

For Migraine Prevention "1st Botox shots 11/2015. Wasn't able to get another tx until 10 days ago. The 1st time it was great! Migraines down to about 2/mo. Loved it! This time the day after I woke with the back of my neck very painful. Worse was pain in the back of my head. Felt like hit with a 2x4. Very bad headache too. It was horrible. I get pain medication for other issues, and it did nothing. Head swollen, tight glasses. Some pain in my left shoulder down my arm. It lasted 5 days, in bed with a heating pad. 7th day worst pain gone but need hand under chin or on back of head to control head movement due to weak neck. Don't wake with neck pain, but it starts after moving a bit. If I'm on my feet, dizzy. Weak jaws when eating or drinking. Head turns only 2 inches to left or right side. Weak upper arms. Never again."

For Migraine "This treatment was a nightmare. My neurologist did not warn me of any potential side effects. The Botox injections took 5 minutes and didn’t hurt much. I had a migraine the rest of the day. I developed a bad headache on day 2, and on day 4 I had the worst migraine ever. It didn’t let up for over a week. My neck was too weak to support my head. I was dizzy and nauseous from the cervical instability. I was told this was normal and was shocked my neurologist hadn’t warned me! I was in severe pain and super dizzy/nauseous for two full weeks. And the treatment didn’t help my headaches at all; in fact, it made them worse."

For Migraine Prevention "I have 12-15 migraines per month, which have not improved with preventatives like amitriptyline or the CGRP inhibitors. After my first two rounds of Botox, 3 months apart, I had little relief from the migraines but no side effects. After the third round of Botox, I woke up a few hours after the treatment with severe, violent vertigo. Once upright, I was okay as long as I didn't move my head. At all. Had to miss a couple of days of work, and it eventually subsided to a tolerable degree (though today, 5 weeks later, I STILL have vertigo/room spinning when I lie down to sleep. Cannot do yoga, cannot swim, cannot go to the dentist, cannot get my haircut). The doctor does not think this was due to Botox. I think it was -- never had this before. Also, my neck is very weak and painful - that too never was an issue for me. And I still get all the migraines on top of that. I will not do Botox again."

For Migraine Prevention "Botox was my last resort after everything else failed me. A week after my first treatment, I'm having nonstop headaches, shooting pains in my head, my neck and shoulders hurt more than ever, I have no energy, and I had nausea, dizziness, and stomach cramps. I wish I had never gotten this."

For Migraine Prevention "Had migraines for 20 years and used Botox for about 11 times now. At first, seemed to really help but wore off after 2 months. Now I am having ear problems, dizziness, and severe pain on the side of the head and neck. I think I am going to stop Botox treatment."

For Migraine "I'm on my third set of shots, and I'm experiencing a few problems, and I don't know if these are severe and should I be worried. On my left side, my scalp is a little raw. I have a huge knot behind my ear. I'm getting more knots in my head. I'm nauseated, dizzy, have diarrhea. I can't sleep, I can't brush my hair. My left side hurts. This is the worst headache I have had yet. My neck hurts, my left side is numb, the left side of my face is swollen, my eye is swollen also, only the left side. I get my next round of shots in March, it will be my fourth set of shots. I haven't had side effects like this before. Can anybody help me?"

For Migraine Prevention "Botox worked pretty well for frontal headache pain during migraines, it took about 2-3 weeks since the first injection to take effect. It did pretty much nothing for all other symptoms of migraines: light sensitivity, dizziness, vertigo. Still, I'll take it. Getting rid of the pain helped a lot. Due for a second round of injections in a few days. I've heard it starts to work better after the second round. Note: word of advice. A lot of insurance companies will not cover Botox for migraines. If this is the case, then I highly recommend submitting a special authorization form signed by your neurologist. I had to argue with a couple of people and wait for 2 weeks. But I got approved and only paid $80 out of pocket. Total cost with administration fee was $850."

For Chronic Spasticity "My daughter is 32, nonverbal, and has had Botox injections for about a year in her hamstrings and calves, and they targeted multiple muscles. Suddenly now, she has about 5-6 falls a day, she just falls backward or collapses and falls forward without the ability to catch herself. The doctor says the Botox wore off, so he targeted more muscles. She cannot talk or express if she has headaches or muscle pain or spasms from her Botox injections for her spasticity. It has not improved her gait or walking. I have read so many reviews of pain after. Yet my daughter cannot explain or express what happens before or after her falls or her daily activities if she is dizzy or disoriented. I am disappointed because the first few, she walked better, now it's getting worse."

For Cervical Dystonia "I had Botox shots for cervical dystonia 6 weeks ago. Sadly, the spasms have not gotten better, and I have developed extremely painful nerve “shocks” in my neck. I’m very tired and dizzy and experienced a day of urinary incontinence about 3 weeks after the treatment. I honestly don’t know if the failure of the treatment and the side effects were because of the Botox or the way it was injected."

For Migraine "After 12 hours, extreme and violent vomiting that lasted the better part of 24 hours. I had continued GI distress and gas lasting more than several hours, plus loss of appetite. I tolerated administration of the drug fairly well, despite the uncomfortable pokes with bleeding. Upon recovery, I found urination difficult, extreme migraine, dizziness, the feeling of spasticity in the upper body, and anxiousness/nervousness."

For Migraine Prevention "It has been 3 months since my Botox injection for migraines. And I am so sick: dizzy, depressed, insomnia, anxiety, extreme fatigue, head feels like it is going to explode. I always feel like I want to throw up. My blood pressure is 100 over 50. Nothing relieves my pain. The neurologist actually yelled at me when I told her how sick I was. She said no way was it the Botox. Botox makes me nauseous, I can't stand up. I just want it out of my body. Wish I never did this. I'm so scared."
