For Insomnia "After having tried just about every medication, Zyprexa is the one that kept me asleep. Of course, there are some mornings I wake up early, like about 4-5 in the morning. Those nights are rare. As far as weight gain, it hasn't been an issue. And I wish everybody the best of luck while taking these medications, because finding the right fit takes lots of patience :)"

For Bipolar Disorder "For me this is a miracle drug one of a kind worth everything. After years suffering with severe anxiety OCD and minor bipolar I find myself again enjoying life cooking playing with my kids reading books and magazines sleeping properly eating with good appetite and clear mind, good mood, happy. I am gaining a huge amount of weight but its worth rather be fat and normal mind then being skinny and agitated and nervous. I was browsing before and was afraid of side effects, but now I am on here to let you know its the best thing to do for your self - to take this medication."

For Bipolar Disorder "I am 27 and have been dealing with manic depression for most of my life. I take Lamictal 250mg and Wellbutrin 300mg. I was very recently put on Zyprexa for the first time after a suicide attempt and hospitalization. I was VERY reluctant to try it because I've read all the side effects. I tried it (2.5mg). I have to admit it changed my life after ONE (low) dose! It was like I went to bed hanging on by a thread and woke up with all my strings attached. I saw quick results. No waiting for a month to see if it will work. Since I have only been taking this medicine for a week, I haven't had any side effects yet. So far, it has really, really been a miracle. Mood stability has always been a really huge issue for me and this has taken care of it."

For Bipolar Disorder "I am a 19-year-old girl and I have bipolar disorder 2 and suffer from anxiety and depression, so my doctor prescribed 10mg Zyprexa daily. I had HORRIBLE side effects. In four months, I gained 20 kg, developed cystic acne, and my thinking was slow and foggy. Any self-confidence I had or pride in my appearance evaporated completely. The worst part is I still had the anxiety and the depression (although I didn't expect an antipsychotic to help with depression). I'm so glad I'm not on it anymore. Zyprexa was definitely not for me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Hello, I was put on Zyprexa 12.5 mg this past summer when I was hospitalized. Along with Nortriptyline, it saved my life. I was constantly anxious and suicidal. Zyprexa does increase your appetite, but if you count calories, avoid binging, and take Metformin 500 mg twice daily, you don’t have to gain weight. I also exercise daily. Zyprexa worked on everything: Anxiety, depression, and insomnia. It’s mildly sedating, but won’t knock you out like Seroquel will. These meds are a tricky business, and I wish all of you well. Hang in there if you’re suffering."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was diagnosed as bipolar in 1987. I've always been treatment-resistant. Nothing, and I mean no meds, have ever helped me before. I've tried everything over the years, only to have bad side effects and no relief. ECT was actually being recommended to me, then my doctor put me on a Zyprexa/Prozac combination and for the first time in my life, I've gotten relief from my symptoms and no side effects. I can finally think clearly. I feel like a totally new person, a much better one."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I am 5'3' tall and weigh 94 lbs. I was prescribed several different antidepressants over a span of ten years along with Klonopin 1 mg tid and Remeron 45 mg at bedtime for anxiety. I finally decided to see a psychiatrist, and she put me on 2.5 mg of Zyprexa at bedtime. Just one dose, and I was a completely different person! I woke up rested, smiling, happy, energized, and with a sense of well-being again! This drug was like night and day for me! I am now on day 5, and I just keep feeling better! I am doing things I never dreamed I would and was able to get the job I've always wanted! For me, Zyprexa has truly changed my life, and I hope it helps others the way it has helped me! The only side effect I've had is increased appetite (which I needed). :)"

For Insomnia "This medicine has made me gain a lot of weight due to the fact I get hungry about 2 hours after taking it. After eating I always pass out and sleep through the night till I have to wake up for my job at 7 a.m. I have been taking this medication for two years now so I do not wake up groggy and foggy. This medication to me is a life saver for putting me to sleep and keeping me asleep. Just be careful with the night hungers! Other then that would totally recommend the medication if you can't sleep at night."

For Depression "This medication is a great sedative, if that's what you're looking for. It's not euphoric; it just makes you sleepy. But it caused me to gain over 40 pounds in less than 2 months. I now get depressed just looking in the mirror. My doctor says it just makes you hungry, not gain weight, but the amount of weight I gained in such a short time is unnatural!"

For Depression "This drug ruined my life. I was experiencing a mild depression and wanted a "buffer" before I started my new career in Atlanta, GA at Emory Hospital. The night I took Zyprexa I slept 12+ hours. I immediately started to gain weight - my lean muscle tissue was replaced by adipose tissue. I developed gynecomastia (man boobs). I was tired and irritable all day due to Zyprexa's anti-dopaminergic effects. In a frenzied effort to heal my body, I spent so much money on organic foods, because no matter how healthy I ate and much I exercised, I kept gaining weight. This drug was a nightmare and took me about 3 months of absolute terror to heal from."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on olanzapine for 5 yrs. Keeps my mood stable, no irritability, no heavy sinking terrible depression. I went off it for only four months without doctor's permission and I went manic, talking too much, lots of energy extremely painful headaches and delusions of people trying to check me out, little nagging voices, that scared me, annoyed me. Psychosis. All the other bipolar people I met at the psych hospital didn't have psychosis. I only shared the psychosis experience with one man with schizophrenia. Mind you this medicine, for me at 10 mg, really works effectively for my severe case of mania, depression, and psychosis, all in one full swoop. Once I'm stable, I can function just like any other person, just carrying a heavy body around from when my body metabolism acts up on the medicine from age 16-19. Now age 21 weight is pretty stable. This medicine DOES work. But you should only use it if it's for a case like mine."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was prescribed Zyprexa as a one-pill cure for my OCD, insomnia, anxiety, and manic mood disorder. I am steadily increasing the Zyprexa dosage, starting with 2.5mg. At 5mg, I can state that my OCD is practically gone. I still have the desire to keep things orderly, but I am not getting frustrated or angry. I can now leave things to do for another day without obsessing over and over in my mind. No changes for the insomnia or anxiety at this dosage. I will post as the dosage increases and the symptoms are relieved. I have no negative effects to report at 5mg Zyprexa."

"This is a very toxic dangerous drug! It has destroyed my health. Caused akathisia, extreme exhaustion, muscle seizures, extreme hair loss, fainting spells, low blood pressure, diarrhea, panic attacks, depression, dry skin, hot sweats, blurred vision, light sensitivity, insomnia, and cognitive issues. Don't take this medication, you will regret it. The maker, Eli Lilly, has been sued many times for damages this drug has caused. It has caused diabetes, heart attacks, pancreatitis, skin rashes, strokes, sudden death, and much much more. It should be outlawed but big pharma runs everything! Zyprexa sucks! I would have rated it a -10 if I had the option."

For Schizophrenia "I've been taking Zyprexa for just over a year now and have seen dramatic improvements in my life. I used to be incredibly paranoid of people, was hearing voices, and was delusional about my physical health. I'm on 20 mg of Zyprexa, and most of my symptoms have cleared. Some of them remain, but they're much more tolerable than they used to be. The only drawbacks I have noticed are weight gain and slowed reactions, but I'd rather live through those side effects than experience what I did before treatment."

For Depression "I take 5 mg of Zyprexa daily. I'm almost the entire day sleepy and have the feeling of doing nothing. I cannot worry because I have to sleep for about 15 hours daily. But I have tried everything out there, and this is the best at this moment."

For Bipolar Disorder "Zyprexa is the only antipsychotic that doesn’t make me feel like a zombie! I kept my personality and my energy. It almost feels like I don’t take an antipsychotic. I take 7.5 mg, because my psychiatrist told me that when you take less then 10 mg daily, the risk of metabolic syndrome is low. It’s very good for treating mania and it augments the effect of my antidepressant. The only downside is that it’s a little bit difficult to wake up."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was diagnosed in 1989. I was an 18-year-old boy at the time. After several years of misdiagnosis, I was diagnosed in the mid-'90s with bipolar disorder. I've been on a lot of different medications; most I don't remember very well. But in 2003, I was hospitalized for one month and put on Zyprexa. I got my life back; I am now married, own my own home, and have my own business. I am now where I want to be. The downside is I went from 180 lbs to 240 lbs in 5 years. I am now borderline diabetic, and my cholesterol level is very high. I am now not on Zyprexa. The medicine did the job it is supposed to, but my doctor and I are looking for a medication similar to Zyprexa without the weight gain."

For Bipolar Disorder "OK I've been on zyprexa going on 7 months at 20mg a day and it's the best thing I've done to get help with bipolar disorder. The only down fall is the weight gain but for me to stay sane and be happy it's worth it. Since being on zyprexa I've been able to socialize again with other people and do not stay in my bedroom all day and night. Thank God for helping me "

For Schizophrenia "It has some initial side affects like feeling dizzy. But all in all after more than 7years I totally like the drug. I have been on 5mg for about 5years now. I took 5mg all through my pregnancy based on doctors advice and I gave birth to healthy baby girl 2 years ago. I was also able to breast feed because the drug was not found in my breast milk due to low dosage I was using according to doctor's report."

For Schizophrenia "I was given 20mg Zyprexa in the hospital. This drug is horrible. The side effects hit me hard, severe dizziness, dry mouth. Now down to 5mg feel like my life is draining out of me with sweats, dizziness, trouble doing anything. It's not like I just dropped to 5mg. I went 7 days 20mg, 7 days 15mg, 7 days 10mg, 7 day 7.5mg and I'm currently on 5 mg day and I feel like screaming. I wish I never was introduced to this med sorry"

For Depression "I was only on Zyprexa for 10 days but it made me so tired I couldn't even function. All I wanted to do was sleep all day. And it made my depression worse. I was so depressed by that 10th day that I almost quit my job because I just felt like I couldn't handle any stress at all. So glad I stopped taking this drug."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "Zyprexa got rid of all my symptoms - paranoia, hallucinations, delusions, depression, mania, catatonia. It worked so well I have gone off all my other medicines and I got off disability, finished school, and got a full-time job. I have very few side effects - mostly I sleep a lot: 10-12 hours. But that is totally worth it to get rid of my symptoms! And I even lost weight!"
