For Panic Disorder "I was put on this medication for my anxiety and sleeping issues. This medication literally did nothing, and they had me on 130 mg. It caused me to have very vivid dreams and night sweats. I was on it for 3 years. I just stopped taking it and lost 25 pounds. I'm still losing weight. So who knows how much weight this medication actually made me gain."

For Migraine Prevention "I'm 18, and I've been getting migraines since I was 5. I'm on 50 mg daily. I started nortriptyline in the beginning of summer because I was getting them 2-3 times a week and very severely. I have been off medication all winter, and since heat and activity are a big trigger, I had to get back on medication. I had been very groggy in the mornings, and caffeine wouldn't help. I had insomnia, and when I did sleep, I had nightmares. Those side effects slowly went away with time, except the nightmares, they still come every once in a while. I have heart palpitations, and my heart rate is usually 130-120. I have also gained a lot of weight, I gained over 10 pounds in a month. I haven't had a migraine in a couple of months, only headaches, which aren't that bad."

For Migraine Prevention "Had migraines almost every day for 7 months, got put on this Pamelor, and I live almost migraine-free. Occasionally still have headaches, but don't bother me that much since I had become so used to them. However, I have gained weight, which sucks, and I often feel disconnected from life like I'm living for nothing, wouldn't say it's depression though. My dreams have definitely gotten weirder and sometimes scary, but I don't really mind it. I'm also pretty sure I lost a lot of sex drive, but it is what it is, I guess. It works, and I'd rather live like this than with the migraines."

"I used to have headaches for many years, and I visited a lot of doctors and got no results. My last doctor gave me nortriptyline (25) and propranolol (40) for every night. Since then, my headache is about once a month. I am very happy. The side effects are dry mouth and weight gain."

For Migraine Prevention "It helps with my migraines. The only problem I have is weight gain and waking up in the middle of the night. I started taking it in March. I weighed 130, it's now August, and I weigh 156."

For Depression "Nortriptyline works great for TRD (treatment-resistant depression). Gave me a break from the relentless nightmare I was experiencing. Seemed to not do much for anxiety at all, and maybe even made it a bit worse. Side effects were not fun though: inability to lose weight, softening of pecs, heart flutters, dry skin, migraines anything above 25 mg, and brutal sun sensitivity. Like absurdly bad sun sensitivity. SPF 100 to walk to the mailbox and back and still have red, swollen cheeks twenty minutes later. Ultimately had to discontinue due to this as I can't sit in the dark forever. But worked better than any SSRIs/SNRIs by far."
