Naloxegol for Opioid-Induced Constipation "I've taken this pill 2x months apart. Both docs insisted it wouldn't put me into ANY form of withdrawal, gut or otherwise. I took a whole pill the 1st time & it sent me right into withdrawal. Blood pressure up, sweats, cold, anxious, restless legs/body, awful. On top of that, it gave me horrendous stomach pains. I was crying & moaning, it felt like labor pains almost, plus nausea. I couldn't take care of my daughter. Took extra methadone, but it didn't help. 7 hrs later I was cleaned out but exhausted & scared, but it finally slowed down, still had mild cramps for hrs after. 2nd time I took less than half a pill & it was the same, except I wasn't in as bad of withdrawal. I vomited so hard & painfully over & over, was seeing double, I didn't get cleaned out, I ended up just having a normal-sized bowel movement. Headache both times. Want so badly to not be constipated anymore that I want to see if it gets easier, but I am so scared. Nothing works. I don't know what to do..."

Naloxegol for Opioid-Induced Constipation "My doctor put me on this medicine because I couldn’t go to the bathroom. I took one pill at 6:30 in the morning, by 10 o'clock, I had gone to the bathroom three times. My stomach hurt so bad I couldn’t stand it, it was that way for hours. I got a real weird feeling in my body: shaking, cold, anxious, sick to my stomach. Twelve hours later, I’m still sick to my stomach, cold and anxious. I only took one pill, and the rest are going in the garbage. This pill should be taken off the market."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "I am on opioids for chronic back pain. I used Miralax and Metamucil, but my bowel movements were irregular, and I felt like I was emptying out and backing up. I tried 25 mg on an empty stomach at 3 PM yesterday for the first time. I started having cramps. I called my doctor and added a suppository. Twenty minutes later, I had a massive bowel movement over 30 minutes. None after that. This morning, I woke up in withdrawal, feeling cold, nauseous, having abdominal cramps, horrible pain, and generally feeling lousy. It was odd as my last pain med dose was six hours before, and I do not usually get withdrawals that quickly. My morning pain meds fixed the withdrawals, but I was still in significant pain until 1 PM after the second pain med dose at 12. It seems to decrease the pain-reducing effects of opioids."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "I've had very severe constipation for years due to my daily need for oxycodone and morphine. I've tried everything with little relief, so that's why I gave this a try. It was the worst day of my life! I took it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. About 30 minutes after taking it, I had a bowel movement... yeah, right? About 2 minutes after, I started having SEVERE intestinal cramps! So bad I could hardly breathe! I also got severe chills and had goosebumps all over my body. I continued to have a bowel movement every 15-20 minutes for the next 3 hours. The whole time, having extremely painful cramping, nausea, sweats, chills, goosebumps... It cleaned me out, that's for sure. But it was not worth the pain, and it wiped me out the whole day!!"

Naloxegol for Opioid-Induced Constipation "Worst medication I've ever tried. It gets rid of your constipation but also causes horrible withdrawal. At first, I thought everything was fine. Six hours in, I had gone to the toilet four times. I was okay except for some stomach pain, which I expected. After eight hours in, I had the most horrendous cramps of my life. My whole body ached. I was nauseous. As time goes on, I realized I was in full-blown withdrawal. I started shivering. The cramps, pain, and diarrhea were horrible. Twelve hours in, I can't leave the toilet. My pain's unbearable. I felt I had nothing left to evacuate, but I keep just cramping up. My entire body is shaking. FYI, I take 30 mg oxycodone IR every three hours and Norco 10 four times daily. Movantik has made this ineffective. I'm writing this in the hopes that you do not take this drug. I was going to the bathroom every morning with just Miralax. My insurance company decided to stop covering it. But I'll figure out I'll just buy the Miralax. It's the next morning now, and finally, it's over except for residual cramps."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "Horrible! I've been on methadone maintenance for 2 years, and the past 8 months my bowels have stopped. I've used every laxative you can imagine, and finally got the courage to see my doctor. He gave me samples of Movantik, I read nothing but bad reviews, but desperate for relief, I took one 25mg tablet, and about 2 hours later it threw me into precipitated withdrawals. Sweats, chills, and everything else, the sad part is I didn't even get a bowel movement. I don't suggest this medicine for anyone, it's garbage!"

Naloxegol for Opioid-Induced Constipation "I took my first dose yesterday morning at seven. Within thirty mins, I had the worst cramps of my life! Was sweating puddles, bright red, sick as anything! My boyfriend had to drive me to the ER. It took Benadryl, Toradol, phenetol, Phenergan, and a muscle relaxer that they had to put in my arm because they couldn't start an IV because my body was going through chills and dehydration from throwing up and horrible diarrhea. My stomach felt like it was tearing! I've been on methadone treatment for a little over two years. I do believe this medication sent me into the worst withdrawals of my life, and that's how it unconstipates you. With my insurance, I paid $30, and I won't be taking the other 29. I wouldn't take the chance of putting yourself through this."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "I have to say I was somewhat relieved to see that I wasn't the only one who suffered so greatly with this drug. The experience (but sad to see others suffering). I truly thought I was dying, and I kept telling myself it'll be over soon, it'll be over soon. The pain, chills, and vomiting, absolute suffering, were unlike anything in recent memory for me. I'll never take this drug again, and I'm afraid to take anything like it, it was that severe of a reaction, and this was my 4th day taking this drug. The first night, the cramps were pretty rough but short-lived. Last night, I just truly never thought I was going to survive it. It lasted about 3 hours, which felt like an eternity. Today I'm just so weak feeling. It's going in the garbage. $323 wasted."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "My doctor gave me this because I’m on high doses of opioids for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) and spinal arachnoiditis. This was horrible. I was given trial packs first. 25 mg I took, then so much pain in my belly I could not move. I was curled in the fetal position contemplating calling an ambulance. Horrific pain and deep bone pain in both my legs, far worse than my CRPS pain, plus nauseous, chills, I thought I was dying. Horrible. Threw them in the trash."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "My advice on Movantik is to understand that Movantik is an opioid blocker in the same manner that naloxone (found in Suboxone) is an opioid blocker. My husband took 12.5 mg and was thrown into withdrawal. Nausea first, chills, fever, shaking so hard the bed was vibrating. I thought Movantik worked on the backed-up s**t, but it stops the opioid from working. Of course, you will have diarrhea when your pain meds are cut off. It may not happen to everyone, but it happened to my husband. I guess it's back to OIC."

Naloxegol for Opioid-Induced Constipation "I took this medicine, and I’m on 95 mg daily of methadone for the past 5 years. Within 20 min, I had to poop, and then I started feeling icky. I went into full-blown withdrawal, and it was terrible. I was shaking, freezing, and sweating, nausea was intense, yawning, runny nose, back pain, and every 10 min, I had more cramping and pooping until my bowel was completely empty. Finally, I tried taking more methadone, but it was being blocked out and wasn’t helping. I then took some Tylenol and a few mg of Xanax, and it knocked me out and I fell asleep finally. Luckily, when I woke up, the withdrawal had passed, but I was in withdrawal for around 3-6 hours. It’s midnight now, and I’m extremely sore from back spasms, and my stomach feels awful. Please don’t take this garbage. Pooping is not that important. Use a stool softener daily. This was the worst day of my life in 5 years."

Naloxegol for Opioid-Induced Constipation "OMG!! I didn't go to the bathroom for almost a month. I did go a little, not much, then I started to get wicked bad heartburn, so I said let me try the Movantik again. Within 15 mins, I began to sweat profusely, I'm not kidding. I was drenched with sweat and had cramps so bad I thought I died, and the chills-I couldn't believe that this could actually do this to someone. And the throwing up was also horrible!! No lie, I thought I was puking poop. I was so grossed out, and I'm still sweating like no tomorrow, and it's been 2 days now since I took a dose of it. I'm glad it works for some, but I wouldn't give that to my worst enemy!! That stuff is just horrible!! I've been on methadone for almost 18 years now for back pain, failed surgery, fusion, and SCS failed."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "I started taking 25 mg yesterday after chronic backups, sometimes up to 2 weeks. Have had the script for 6 months, but had the fear of withdrawal, so I suffered and didn’t take it. That was dumb. I have stage 4 esophagus cancer, which is the most painful cancer, they say. So I take whatever I have to, to stop it. It took 3 hours before I went, and it was a good bit, but only once. Going to do it again today and hopefully I will have the same results so I can get it all out of me. I cramped for about 4 hours after the bowel motion and had chills. Just fell asleep about two hours, woke up, and they were wearing off. No withdrawal symptoms yet, so all in all, a good drug. Don’t worry about withdrawal symptoms, the good outweighed the bad. Will update in about a week. Hope it helps you!"

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "Extreme withdrawal symptoms. Chills, runny nose, cramps, pain, nausea, shakes, felt terrible. It worked well for the first two days for a bowel movement, but then stopped working as well. The bad side effects continued all the time I was on the drug (2 months). My pain doctor was surprised at my reaction to the drug, as most of her patients handle it well. Insurance (UH) refused to pay for it after 2 months. My cost was going to be around $400 a month, not worth it for me."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "Ok, I'm NEVER taking that Movantik EVER again!!!!! I feel like I'm going to die! Insane stomach pain, cramping, sweat pouring off me, chills, lightheadedness, diarrhea, crazy lower back pain. I threw up while on the toilet... uhh... no! That pill is awful! I'll deal with the constipation.... I can't handle this. I'm lying on the couch downstairs in excruciating pain, shaking, sweating, and wanting to puke. So yeah... you could say it “worked,” but I’m not willing to deal with the consequences."

Naloxegol for Opioid-Induced Constipation "My doctor gave me samples of Movantik. I have been on pain meds for years, also, I have to take iron pills because I am anemic. I have tried taking stool softeners, Miralax, and it doesn't work. I took the Movantik first thing in the morning. The first day, I got cramps, but after that, just very little cramping. Within a couple of hours, I have a movement with really no side effects. I will keep using it. The only thing I am noticing is I have the chills."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "So for constipation, 10 stars! It worked fast too, but if you are not taking your pain pills, do not take! I thought I'd be okay with the fentanyl patch in my system as I had not needed one of my oxycodone that day, and I had horrible side effects of withdrawal symptoms, fever, chills, couldn't get warm, then would sweat real bad, it was terrible. I thought I had an infection again because those side effects mimic infection too. Today I really want to take one but am scared. Should I take it BEFORE I take my pain pills? What works best? I'm already constipated, don't need to be feeling sick also! Thanks!"

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "I took this one time, and I will never take this again. I took it 12 hours ago and have been up the entire night with explosive diarrhea. Chills, stomach ache, feeling like I'm dying. But the absolute worst part is, it feels as though I've been stripped of my pain medication, so I am in so much back pain that I've been crying. Nothing will stop it, and I've even taken more pain relief this morning. I really felt like going to the hospital, I'm in so much pain."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "Absolutely awful!! I'm on methadone, and I'm not really sure these medications go well together. Yes, I'm certainly no longer constipated, but the stomach pain, more like burning from the inside out. I've had children, and this was bad. I very nearly phoned for an ambulance, had sweat pouring off me, this went on for a good 2 and a half hours. The stomach pain, that is, the sweating and chills a few hours. I took this medication today before I had my methadone, this was only the second tablet I'd taken, the first one I had 2 days before gave me really bad stomach and intestinal pain for around an hour, bad but just bearable. It must be very strong, as I went to the toilet within 30 minutes, had diarrhea all night. I also had it today several times. I read that you're more likely to have severe reactions to Moventik while on methadone. Great for constipation. Not if you're on methadone, though. I was put straight on to 25 mg, perhaps that's too high, or maybe a doctor should see you in person, not just over the phone, when prescribing."
