Avelox (moxifloxacin) "Avelox rocks. I had a bacterial infection and did not realize it until I was in an urgent care after 8 days of misery. I went in thinking I had a double ear infection but was diagnosed with a bacterial infection. I am allergic to Amoxicillin so my Doctor gave me Avelox. I don't like it at all because of its side effects but it works. After one day on it, I felt like a million bucks. However, my skin itches a wee bit, I'm dizzy, feel anxious and paranoid. I have almost every side effect. I made the mistake of taking it on an empty stomach and heading to my daughters school to pick her up. Just be careful. Learn how your body reacts to it."

Avelox (moxifloxacin) "I was diagnosed as having actinomycosis (lumpy jaw). First was put on amoxicillin and then changed to Avelox (now in week 2 of it). Will continue it for another month and a half, then will be switched to another antibiotic for a while. The Dr. is an infectious disease specialist and said that my condition takes a long time to cure. So far, no ill side-effects. The lumpy jaw came about after mouth surgery to remove a cancer, and so far (almost 2 years), no more cancer! I also had radiation and chemo for the cancer. Keeping on keeping on!"

"Have a prescription for moxifloxacin for Mycoplasma genitalium and side effects scare me so not sure yet. This post is in response to another I read and I want to say PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH OR THROW YOUR MEDS AWAY! TAKE THEM BACK TO THE PHARMACY to be disposed of safely. Don't allow them into our environment"

Avelox (moxifloxacin) "Had a very resistant infection and was prescribed this medication. Went into anaphylactic shock after it stared digesting. Cold and hot sweats, drooling , splotchy skin color , swelling of throat, loss of feeling in left side of my body for 2 days and brief loss of consciousness until ambulance arrived. Just didn't work well with my body."

"I seem to tolerate this moxifloxacin flouroquinolone better than the others. Don't know why. Cipro gave me immediate joint/tendon pain in my left leg after one dose and I felt like I was dying from three days on Levofloxacin aka Levaquin."

"An ENT prescribed me Moxiget 400mg (Moxifloxacin) after I got sore throat and fever. This medicine started giving me stomach cramps the moment I took the very first tablet. It also caused severe headaches, dizziness, gas formation, nausea and loss of appetite. Although I and my mother only took it for 5 days, it caused these similar reactions in both of us. This is the most pathetic medicine ever."

"Had a flu and then resulting bronchitis, laryngitis and 2 ear infections. Was a total mess. Doc gave me these pills and felt a little better the next day and it's day 3 and improving lots. I did have some rapid heart rate (not too serious) and lack of sleep/appetite. Then again that might be from the flu on the tail end. So happy I am feeling better."

Avelox (moxifloxacin) "I'm on day 8 of this medicine and other than experiencing mild side effects I find that my sinus are still clogged, my ear canals are swollen and I have swelling of the throat which makes me look like I have an extremely large double chin, or a balloon under the skin. My sinuses are still experiencing severe pain and pressure. "

"Absolutely it works wonderful. I was infected with COVID19 with the symptoms of fever, cough, vomiting and breathing problems. I used many antibiotics but with no response then doctor prescribed me moxifloxacin only 2 doses and I gain better result in chest infection and breathing problem and after two days I was healthy."

"Just completed 10 day course. First two days minor improvement in breathing, but then relapse. I feel just as bad, plus now I'm tired all the time. Don't know if it is from medication or the fact I have asthma and I'm not getting 100% oxygen to my brain. This is my second round of antibiotics, first was doxycycline for 5 days. I have been living with this for 9 1/2 weeks. My coughing is really bad and congested. I frequently cough up phlegm. Also have bad post nasal drip."

"Did not feel positive effects until overnight after 4th dose of moxifloxacin (taken 7 pm each night). Tossed and turned all night as if fighting the flu or fever, but the next morning could finally tell that it was slowly starting to work (on kidney infection). This was my second time using it so I was worried about resistance and it is a relief that it is again working."

"Today will be my 5th moxifloxacin pill of 10 on this course of medication . I have an infection in my intestines and tried other antibiotics that caused serious side effects, so after a CT scan I was given moxifloxacin . First dose , very dizzy ,the room was spinning, my legs hurt so bad. Did much better after 2nd dose . Today I can say side effects are gone .. I feel good , better than I have in a long time ,so I give this medication a thumbs up , I do suggest taking it at night."

"Day 4 of this med. Had abscess on butt drained last Wednesday out of province, w/o a follow up prescription for antibiotics. Friday was in great pain and visited my my family Doctor who prescribed this med 400mg/10 days. Pain has subsided but wound is still draining and slightly swollen. None of the side effects mentioned by many are present for me, so far, but I do find the healing to be rather slow. Will see Doctor on day 6...if still draining then, I hope he will know why and make any necessary changes required! God bless u all!"

"I was prescribed this medication plus Cipro for mild case of diverticulitis. Both are very heavy duty drugs. After my third dose I had a headache, nausea, I vomited, I was dizzy and I couldn't hold down so much as a bite of toast, though I was supposed to start eating something after 24 hours of a liquid diet. The side effects of this medication are far worse than the condition for which I was being treated. Always question when you are being prescribed two powerful antibiotics."

Avelox (moxifloxacin) "I am on my 4th day of Avelox and going to try and stick it out despite the side effects. I was on another antibiotic for ( Amoxicillin) Diverticulitis last week and it caused such bad diarrhea that I had to be switched to this. The 1st day I took it in the middle of the day. I had horrible nausea and dizzy plus extremely fatigued. After that I switched the time to after dinner before bed and the side effects are easier to manage through the night. The only other problem is the extreme tiredness during the day. It seems to be clearing the Diverticulitis so I am going to finish the course."

"Was given Avelox due to being allergic to penicillin although the doctors have no idea what is causing my fever. Negative for strep, flu, white blood count is normal. I stopped taking this after my 2nd trip to the clinic, and the side effects that presented, I felt worse after talking this medication."

"Been taking it for 7 days of the full 21. First few days vicious diarrhea and headache. No stomach problems. Muscles hurt anyways. Had Cancer treatment over a year ago left with me severe anal inflammation and anal ulcer. No results yet...still waiting and hoping!!"

"Day one of this medication is was okay. Day two of this medication after four hours of taking I started feeling like I wasn't getting enough oxygen in my head then followed by a rapid heartbeat which ranged between 104-115. But I feel a slight change in my breathing. Before the third dose I am going to call the doctor and alert him of these effects"

"After reading the reviews I was so scared to take this medication. I was prescribed a 7-day regimen after taking doxy for 7 days for a mycoplasma genitalia infection. I finished the medication and it didn't really have any side effects. I took it with a little yogurt just to make sure it wouldn't cause stomach issues. I was also careful since my doctor told me it could cause tendon issues. It cleared up the infection, so I can't complain. I'd take it again if I needed to. So if you've been prescribed this medication don't read all these reviews and be scared because everybody reacts differently so you may not have any issues."

"You definitely feel the side effects much more than other antibiotics but it works. I did not feel my kidney infection was resolved until Day 11 on Moxi, but thankfully it worked!"
