For Insomnia "I have taken Remeron for 3.5 years. I was experiencing a family crisis, was anxious, depressed, and could not sleep. I have taken every antidepressant on the market. They might work for a year then nothing. You MUST go on Remeron slowly. 1/4 of the dissolving tablet for a week, then 1/2 for a week or 2. I was told never, never to start with a whole dose or to quit cold turkey. TITRATE is the key. I get real food cravings late at night. But, I don't eat. Remeron is the best antidepressant I have ever taken."

For Depression "I didn't experience a crazy increase in appetite; however, I did gain motivation that I previously didn't have to go to the gym and lift weights, which helped me put my weight back on. Side effects for me included slight numbness of the tongue, and I feel like I mumble a lot because of that. Side effects do not bother me due to the fact that I feel so much better because of the medicine."

For Depression "Started taking Remeron 3 months ago. I have severe anxiety and insomnia which in turn caused depression. I became dependent on Ativan after being hospitalized. I took the Remeron while weaning off the Ativan. I never thought my body would recover. I suffered through the withdrawals and while waiting for the Remeron to kick in. It helped me sleep starting the first night. Ever since I’ve been sleeping an average of 9 hours a night, which I desperately needed. For my anxiety and depression, it was a gradual effect and took almost two months to work. I’m glad I stuck with it. Don’t get discouraged when starting this med. It takes time to work. I’m happy to say I’m no longer dependent on Ativan. I only take it as needed, which is rare. Remeron has helped me wean off the Ativan as well as being able to function daily without constantly being on the edge."

For Depression "After trying these for about 5 weeks, I had to go back to the doctor to change. I felt worse than I'd ever felt in my life. I was so angry all the time for no reason. I cried more than I did before taking medicines. For the first time ever, I was thinking about suicide. It also gave me a massive appetite and I gained about ten pounds, which I didn't need. So, these definitely do not work for me. Fingers crossed my new ones will."

For Depression "I was feeling very depressed 3 years ago and I've always suffered from anxiety, I tried other anti-depressants but the side affects were horrendous so I started on 15mg Mirtazapine, they started to work after a few days. I felt calm and my anxiety reduced hugely, I also slept very well. They will give you very vivid dreams, after a few weeks I started feeling anxious/agitated during the day so I popped another pill and that did the trick after an hour. The Doc upped my dose then to 30mg and they worked great at night. But I felt very anxious in the morning so the Doc very unusually apparently prescribed 15mg for the morning, that really did the trick. Fast forward 3 years, I'm still on the 45mg and they still help me sleep, my mood however is a little on the low side, anxiety is quite bad, in a nutshell they work less and less the longer you are on them, I'm now thinking of tapering off them and trying some talking therapy even if I am a little sceptical of the value of doing so."

For Depression "Terrible! Never again. I gained 13 pounds, and I'm normally a small person. You gain every few months. I felt like I was in a fog the whole time with no personality, and I didn't realize it until I got off. I refused to gain more weight and told them I'm getting off it. They told me to just stop taking it. DON'T! I did since they said to, and my anxiety spiked to a 10, and after a few weeks, I had a nervous breakdown. I also had insomnia for months and slept maybe 2-3 hours a night for the first two weeks until I said put me back on so I can wean myself off safely - the right way. It's been about 5 months off, and I still have insomnia, which could be lifelong. No one told me I would be addicted to this med."

For Depression "Doctor prescribed me Remeron. I've been taking 15mg for about a month now. I've noticed an increase in hunger and I get great sleep with this medication. However, it hasn't helped with my anxiety attacks or depression. I also noticed that I'm becoming more and more forgetful, often find myself staring at nothing in a daze, and it's hard to articulate what I'm thinking or feeling."

For Insomnia "Before taking Remeron I was on other strong medicines. The first night I slept better than in years. I feel like I could keep sleeping in the morning but am able to get up and feel refreshed. This medicine seems to be the thing I have needed where others have failed me miserably. The medicine takes effect fast and has little side effects so far. I hope others have the same success I have had with Remeron."

For Depression "I have taken 15 mg Remeron for about 5 days so far and it already is a miracle pill for me. I am slightly underweight and had constant anxiety, but so far this medication has vastly improved my appetite and I just feel relaxed, but not in a drugged feeling way. I actually enjoy food and am no longer as picky of an eater as I was before, which is awesome. It also helps with sleep, as it certainly has a sedative effect after you take it. I was really groggy and tired the first day after I took it, but have been fine and energized every day since. I know every medication affects people differently, but if you are depressed and not worried about weight gain, give this a shot."

For Anxiety "I have been taking for 16 months. I was having low to mid-level anxiety, loss of appetite, and insomnia. Remeron cured the insomnia and appetite immediately. Anxiety was much less within a couple of weeks and gone within a month or so. Constipation occurred for about a week and then went away. I have gained weight over the last year but am changing my diet to be more healthy (no white sugar or white flour, etc.) so that I am losing some weight now."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been dealing with a lot of family issues plus I suffer from MDD and GAD, anyway I believe I also have PTSD and I was stuck on repeat in my mind and could not stop reliving a past "argument" had Iwith my family. I took 15mg last night and already the obsessive thoughts have diminished. I also have subconscience fears of being poisoned. Those have also diminished since yesterday. Hope it continues I just worry about weight gain but if my mind isn't occupied with all the rubbish I can focus on exercise."

For Depression "I have it all...anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Sometimes I can be anxious in the morning, depressed in the afternoon. I have tried Wellbutrin/Cymbalta combination, Pristiq, Viibryd, Effexor, and every SSRI. I definitely felt an improvement with Cymbalta/Wellbutin and Pristiq, but not 100% myself. Remeron has been a godsend to me. It works fast; dare I say I am in a good mood again after only three days. I was a bit tired in the morning, but I will gladly take some fatigue to get rid of the anxiety and depression, and I hear this goes away in time. As far as the weight gain, I have always been a good eater and go to the gym, so if my appetite increases (it hasn't as of yet), I will just have to monitor it. So far, it's been great."

For Depression "Remeron is a unique medicine, since its side effects are sometimes as useful as its antidepressant effects. This medicine literally saved my life. For many years, I was around 90 pounds, and never slept. Now, I'm a healthy 120 and I sleep about 8 or 9 hours per night. It did take a long time to get to this point. When I first started taking it, I was tired all the time and very worried about the ravenous hunger! But now that I've been on it 2 years, I no longer gain weight, I'm no longer tearful and miserable, and I've honestly never been happier. God bless the people who made this drug. It literally saved my life."

For Depression "After a year of taking this, I have trouble speaking at all, severe sedation, and constant irritability. Also, a dangerous lack of care about my personal affairs and suicidal ideation. I'm called 'stable' when really I'm frozen in depression. I will never trust a psychiatrist again."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been giving Remeron to my wife (79) who has been diagnosed with advanced dementia. She sometimes is completely confused and becomes even hostile towards me, her husband of 50 years. I have experimented with various doses of Remeron and found out that giving her 15mg doses three times a day is effective and usually keeps her in a reasonable to good mood. In the evening her anxiety comes back about our cats who are used to go outside. I give her a small alcoholic drink (Irish Cream) which has a very beneficial effect on her. Remeron does not seem to interact negatively with alcohol. One hour before bedtime I give her 10 mg of Melatonin. She sleeps very well. I have found that 15 mg of Remeron in the morning, 15 to 30 mg at 2 pm and sometimes another 15 mg in the evening is a very good combination. I know that one should not give more than 45 mg a day, but sometimes and additional dose at night is necessary."

For Depression "I was prescribed 7.5 mg remeron along with 50mg of zoloft. I've only taken two doses and it left me in a zombie state for two days. I slept but I slept from 11 pm to 11 am which is obviously unrealistic. Even after I woke up I felt OUT OF IT, as if I was on drugs almost and was exhausted all day. I also felt like my thinking was off and like I couldn't even form a sentence, it is very terrifying. It is almost like my brain can't process what is going on in front of me, even my vision felt off.I don't plan on taking this anymore."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This drug saved my life. I never thought I'd say that, but due to a health issue, I have had chronic tension headaches that have now disappeared! Oh, and my depression and anxiety are gone on this. I'm able to feel blissful. I'm able to handle tough situations. I'm able to live. Give it time to work 'cause it could make your life so much better."

For Depression "After taking this one week I have to say I am totally sedated. If we had an earthquake ( CA) I wouldn’t be able to get off the bed. I am quitting now. I am a fall risk, new widow, and anxious. I feel like this drug is changing my heart rate and have horrible headache. Almost ER time. Please tell me someone, how long is this in my system ?. I am worried I’ll be in bed all day. Literally can’t stand up and this after 12 hrs sleep"

For Depression "This medication has worked great for me. I was feeling pretty well with Prozac, but had to switch doses from 20mg to 40mg. The main reason I got off Prozac was because I had NO appetite and lost 17 lbs which, in my case, was a bad thing since I was already skinny and wanted to bulk up. I switched to Remeron, which not only made me feel better mood-wise, but increased my appetite and helped me sleep great! It's a 3-in-1 drug for me. It also helped a bit for my anxiety. Only have been taking it for about three weeks so I hope my mood, sleep, anxiety, and appetite stay this way."

For Depression "I have several issues and was given Remeron along with Seroquel and Tegretol. I take it at night and I sleep now, it's pretty amazing, but I'm so tired after taking it that I can't keep my eyes open no matter what. In the 3 weeks I have been on it, I have gained 3 lbs, which is awesome for me. I hope the sleepiness dies down some as it is a bit strong for me, but overall this is a great medicine."

For Depression "Although I can't take tricyclics, I can take Remeron. I have treatment-resistant depression, and this is the only antidepressant I can tolerate (I have been on every type of antidepressant except Wellbutrin). I don't know why it works so well on me, but it saved my life. My weight had gotten down to 112 lbs (I'm 5'7) and I looked like a corpse. I've been on it for a good 8 years or so, and it still helps me sleep. The hunger side effect subsided for the most part, a good thing because I gained too much weight back at first, then leveled out at 130 lbs. Some of my family have tried it and it knocks them out for the night and the next day. Also, they've complained of a 'hangover feeling' after they wake up. Many doctors told me it's a good medicine."

For Depression "I started on Remeron 15mg per day. I started to feel somewhat better at two weeks. Went up to 30mg at that point. After being on 30mg for about a week, I felt significantly better. I've gained a few pounds, around 4, so that's not too bad. It did not help with sleep. I experienced insomnia for 3-4 days after starting or changing the dose. Also, had some difficulty with thinking clearly for a few days after changing the dosage. I have severe Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). I believe Remeron will really assist me. I feel like I'm on a good path. I particularly appreciate the absence of sexual side effects."

For Depression "I have been taking 30 mg 1/2 hour before bed for about a month. The first night I took it, I woke up in the middle of the night incredibly thirsty, went to get a drink, and lost all coordination. My husband found me lying on the floor, sweating profusely, burning with fever. He had to carry me to bed. By the time he decided to take me to the ER, I was cool as a cucumber and sleeping like a baby. I decided to stick with it and try again. (No luck with SSRIs for relief from moderate/severe depression & anxiety and insomnia.) I slept the entire next day, took the 30mg pill again, and had no similar episode. Very gradually, the sleepiness has waned along with symptoms. I am optimistic, though I do need to resist overeating, as I have gained 5 lbs."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Literally a lifesaver. I have been on every antidepressant known to man, and I thought they were all a joke. They never worked. I ended up in a behavioral health facility for 2 weeks because of a major depressive episode and constant thoughts of suicide. They gave me this medication, and I stuck with it. Initially, it will make you sleepy and crave food like crazy. You will also have crazy dreams. This will pass in time. I haven’t fallen into a depression in over 3 years now, which is a record. I have recently lost my job because of a different medical condition. I am on food stamps and might have to sell my home, but amazingly it's no big deal to me. Remeron and other forms of therapy have changed my whole outlook on life. If anyone has tried every medication and it hasn’t worked, give this one a try. The only downside at this point I can think of is sometimes when you want to feel down or depressed (I know it sounds weird), you are not able to."

For Depression "Mirtazapine has helped me on more than one occasion. I've cycled through the gamut of antidepressants including but not limited to Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, etc., but nothing really worked until Remeron. Thought I was okay to stop all medicines a year ago and did fine for a while but now feeling awful again; depressed and underweight. Renewed my script today and taking my first dose of Remeron tonight. Bring on the munchies! I just love a donut."
