For Depression "Feeling fantastic, like myself again. Wanted to say I have not gained weight, in fact, I have LOST WEIGHT with this drug. My appetite increased but I needed it. I liked to skip breakfast and lunch most days to 'lose weight'. I only kept the fat on. With this newfound energy I'm experiencing, I'm more active and burning more calories. My increased appetite has prompted me to eat regular healthy meals and my metabolism has skyrocketed! I'm burning fat and building muscle. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. A lot of people gained weight, I have not. If you watch what you eat and your portion size, plus exercise regularly, you shouldn't see an unwanted weight gain with this drug."

For Anxiety "For many years I've been juggling medicines from Lexapro, Xanax, Zoloft, along with Lunesta for sleep. I had anxiety along with depression, couldn't sleep, and was losing weight. Three weeks ago, my doctor prescribed Remeron to me, and within a week, I was like a new person. Depression and anxiety lessened, and my sleep is great. This has been a miracle for me. Yes, I am gaining weight, but I needed to. My quality of life is so much better."

For Depression "I've been taking this medication for approximately 3 years now. For all who are upset with the weight gain and sleepiness, it doesn't last forever. I think I gained about 10-15 lbs in my first few months, but I've managed to lose it all. Now I am only sleepy right after I take it (at bedtime) and I wake up feeling rested without the hangover. It's definitely levelled off my depression, and I feel normal. If you can get past the first few weeks, this medication is a life saver. I truly forgot that this medication even has side effects, since I've been on it so long. Also, I tried the SSRI/SNRI route first. On Zoloft, I would've made a great cast member for the Walking Dead. I've never felt more like a zombie. Remeron is the best!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I love Remeron! Even though it doesn't work sometimes, it definitely helps with mood, sleep, and your appetite when it does. I guess because I've taken it for so long, my body thinks it's a Skittle. But skipping a week or just taking it when needed has better results for me. Without it, I tend to lose weight every day from the effects of not eating when I'm busy. This helps me to keep my appetite and energy up until the next dosage. I hope this post and the medicine helps someone else as well. Just do not forget about the symptoms, be prepared for them, and enjoy your life on Remeron!"

For Insomnia "I have been on Remeron for 3.5 years. I started out on 15 mg and now currently on 30 mg. I have tried every sleep medication available. This is by far the best medication I have ever been on for sleep. Yes, I get the ravenous hunger, and it takes about 2 hours to make me sleepy. An hour after I take it is when the hunger kicks in, and I eat for the entire day before bed. I have gained about 30 lbs over the time being on it, but it has now tapered off, I hope! However, for me, sleep is so important, so it's a matter of what's more important, the perfect body or being so tired and depressed due to lack of sleep. If you start watching what you eat prior to bed, which I do now and wish I knew or realized this early on, you can help keep the weight."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I read about Remeron somewhere online and asked my doctor for it. I take 30 mg daily. It helps with depression and helps me sleep. Take it right before you go to sleep. If you take it earlier, you might get hungry. Because this medicine makes food indescribably delicious. Get this drug. It will help you immensely. Good luck!"

For Anxiety "I had been taking Remeron for about 4 years for severe anxiety and insomnia. It works great and gets you back on a normal sleep pattern right away. Yes, the side effects do get less and less after a few weeks. I have stopped using it now."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was on Remeron for about 2 years before. Helped very much with my depression. But although I often felt very sleepy near the beginning of the treatment, the massive fatigue eventually subsided to an acceptable level. 20 mins after taking it, I'm ready for bed. I can't keep my eyes open no matter what. I just restarted Remeron two days ago after more than a year being on it. As I type this, I feel fogged over, sort of sleepy, and immensely 'munchie'. As before when I took it, I'd find myself waking up several times a night going to raid the fridge and cabinets for munchie or sweet foods (and meats! definitely craved meat all the time). So again, on Remeron: eating again, sleeping some, more relaxed, less sad."

For Major Depressive Disorder "30 mg dosage. What to possibly expect based on my experience. Day 1: I was extremely tired. If I let my head hit the pillow, I would experience microsleep. I felt a little dizzy at times. Be careful around stairs if you suffer from vertigo. Functionality was delayed - my mind was in a cloud and it was difficult to work or concentrate on something that required deep attention. Day 2: I felt hungover. Hypersensitive to sounds, meaning that my mind would abnormally jolt to a greater sense of attention to a noise than before. The dizziness remained but at a decreased level. Day 3: Almost normal; just slightly tired."

For Anxiety "After 4 LONG years of 'experimenting' with Lexapro, Paxil, and benzos on and off with my regular MD, I decided to see a Psychiatrist that's very popular in my city. I told him my symptoms and that I was also going through Ativan tolerance withdrawal. He prescribed me Remeron and agreed to wean me off the Ativan properly. I don't know why my regular MD didn't try this miracle medicine on me! GRR!! This changed me overnight. It has STOPPED my nervous stomach and I'm eating again. I sleep well too. A few side effects would be the flashing lights you see when you close your eyes the 1st night I took it, and restless legs and vivid dreams but those are slowly disappearing. This medicine has helped me drastically."

For Depression "I was started on 7.5 mg of Remeron when I was having anxiety and panic attacks. Within a few days, I started feeling significantly better. A few months later, and I have had only a few minor episodes of panic. It has greatly improved my life with no major side effects."

For Depression "REMERON/MIRTAZAPINE was wonderful the first two weeks particulary because I felt dismal for 50 years then mirtazapine came about. But after two weeks of a new life of positivity things changed to a life of pain nausea apathy crying worrying close to zero motivation even to use the restroom. I can go on and on , basically now I wonder why people live for 100% negativity literally even when you list all things. I wish I never experienced the good from this drug because now mental torture and horrible chronic pains would best describe my life!!!"

"I have major anxiety. It comes and goes. When I get it bad, I can't sleep at all. Two hours here and there, mind racing, dry heaves, anxious. The nights are terrible. The first night I took this drug, I slept all night and I was able to think rationally. But it was a little too strong, so I cut it in half to 7.5 mg and I slept eight hours and I woke up and I felt great. I'm going to keep taking it until I get through my tough situation. It's wonderful. For me, sleep is very important. It's hard to think rationally and function with no sleep."

For Depression "I was on Remeron for 2 years, but over that time, I just got worse. I tried coming off three times, but the withdrawal was hell on earth! Luckily, but not lucky, I had a near-fatal car crash. I was in a coma in ICU for a month, then in the trauma ward for another at Southmead Bristol. For some reason, they took me off Remeron when I first went in. Eventually, when I came around six weeks later, after the delirium had gone, I felt better than I had for the last two years while being on Remeron. Even with a broken tibia, broken hip, broken jaw, damaged vertebrae, blood clots, and 2 cardiac arrests, it was worth it just to get off that poison!"

For Depression "I had tried Lexipro (sexual side effects) and Trintellex (worked a little for a while but eventually had no benefits). I also tried Trazodone which addressed the sleep a small amount but not enough to improve my overall mental health. A psychiatrist told me Remeron is known to address depression, sleep, and appetite. He was right. It improved all three. The only side effects were weight gain (which I actually wanted) and crazy dreams. I thought the dreams would subside after taking it for a while but they never really did. They aren’t nightmares, just very odd dreams. I was started on 7.5 mg. After about five months, I’m still on 7.5 mg. I definitely recommend it for sleep, depression, and lack of appetite."

For Depression "I have been on Remeron for 3 years now and it's the best antidepressant I've ever been on. I have tried Prozac, Celexa, Wellbutrin, and Effexor. Remeron is the only one that made me happy to be alive. I did gain about 3 pounds but then was feeling so good I decided to become a vegan and improve my physical health, which before I could have cared less about. So now I've lost the pounds. Plus, a few pounds is definitely worth the improvement in mood and sleep. I have found it's really important how much I take and at what time. I did get restless leg syndrome which made it hard to sleep so I tried breaking up my 30 mg pill and taking 1/2 at 7:30 and 1/2 at 9:00 pm. That wasn't helping my mood. For best results, I take 30 mg at 6:00 pm and go to bed at 9:00."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Remeron has helped me greatly with my anxiety and intrusive thoughts. My anxiety was so bad that I couldn’t eat or concentrate. Once I started taking Remeron, my sleep improved, my mood improved, and my appetite is back. I would highly suggest giving Remeron a try. Only downside for me personally is the weight gain. The cravings on this medication are very hard to control at times, especially at night."

For Depression "I have been on Remeron for a little over 3 months for depression and anxiety. It has changed my life after years of insomnia and depression. I think I finally found what works for me. The first couple of weeks are rough though, I felt tired all the time, especially the first day; I slept 21 hours! It gets better after about 3 weeks. I am depression-free, and I sleep a whole lot better than I used to. If you are afraid of the side effects, don't worry, they will diminish after about a couple of weeks... just stick it out, it's well worth it. I have taken almost every antidepressant in the books, and Remeron is the only one that has worked for me. I think you should give it a try; it works for a lot of people!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started Remeron about 2 months ago for my severe depression and anxiety, and severe insomnia. The first night taking it, I slept the best I had in years! I didn't wake up feeling groggy; I actually felt better sleep-wise. I still felt very depressed, and that continued for a few weeks to the point I tried to commit suicide. Then I knew I needed help. They upped my Remeron to 45 mg at bedtime. I've been on 45 mg for a week, and I've noticed a big change. I feel normal again. I give Remeron a 10; it improved my life a great deal!"

For Depression "This antidepressant has been a blessing in my life. I was 25 lbs underweight due to depression, and also had sporadic sleeping. The side effects are a benefit for me. It makes you hungry, especially after you take it at night. I crave lots of carbs, and have been eating like I have never before. I have gained 11 lbs in just 1 month on Remeron. It also has a nice sedation effect to help with sleep. When I take my 30mg dose at night, I have everything ready because after 45 minutes I can barely keep my eyes open, and then get a great night's sleep. Side effects are worse during the first week, and then everything balances out! If you suffer from sleep and/or eating, then Remeron could be the biggest blessing in your life also. It gave me hope."

For Anxiety "I was drinking heavily to combat anxiety for years. Remeron sorted me out. Still drank now and again, but in general felt good about myself. I've tried lots of anti-anxiety medicines, and this one is the best. Weight gain, but it makes me happy, so a small price to pay. One last thing, when on this, I would look in the mirror and feel good about myself for the first time in years. Good medicine."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have MDD, anxiety disorder, panic attacks, and ASD (autism spectrum disorder). I was put on a combination of 7.5 mg Remeron and 100 mg of Pristiq. Within a few weeks, I stopped having panic attacks and I had no more depression. I am so grateful my doctor tried these drugs; it literally saved my life. Before, my life was hell, and I literally wanted to die. Now I am happy 99% of the time, and I can't remember the last time I cried. The only problem is I am constantly hungry, and I have gained 40 pounds in less than a year."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I had been taking Restoril for sleep for several years. I found that my level of depression was worsening over time, and I had to take more and more to sleep. Finally, I decided that I needed to get off of Restoril. My doctor prescribed Remeron. I have been taking it for several weeks now and find that my mood has improved as well as my sleep. I am down to half of the Restoril I was taking before and hopefully may be able to discontinue it. The only downside of Remeron is that my appetite has increased, which is not good for me. Otherwise, I would have rated this as a 10."

For Anxiety "Have had generalized and social anxiety for as long as I can remember. Was on Klonopin 1.0 to 1.5 mg twice a day (about 15 years) along with propranolol 20 mg twice a day. I decided at the beginning of this year that I was going to try to wean myself off Klonopin as getting a script every month for Klonopin is a pain. I started Remeron 5 months ago at 15mg than 22.5mg and in no time my anxiety level went down. I was also on Vyvanse to counter depression from long-term Klonopin, which I replaced with Wellbutrin. With the Remeron/Wellbutrin combination, I am down to 0.5 mg twice a day Klonopin, which I never dreamed was possible. I plan on going on Lyrica or Neurontin to help wean off Klonopin for good."
