For Bacterial Vaginosis "So my gyn said she had a suspicion that I had BV since I got recurrent yeast infections. She prescribed MetroGel 0.75% for 5 nights, and when I tell you the smell and weird discharge was gone, I'm over the moon. However, I did notice I got weird thick, white, and clumpy discharge on the 2nd day of use. Not sure what it is, but reading through the comments, I hear that it’s the vagina flushing the infection out. Still dealing with it now 2 days after finishing the treatment. Hope it clears up in a few days, or I have to go back to the gyn :("

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was prescribed the metronidazole vaginal gel for bacterial vaginitis. They have me using the gel before bed for 5 days. Tonight will be my 4th night of use. So far, the only side effects I have noticed are a very thick, white discharge and menstrual-like cramps and discomfort in my pelvic area. I also have had a slight decrease in my appetite."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I’ve had recurring BV for 7 years now. After getting tired of being prescribed MetroGel so often, only to get BV again after being intimate, I came across a post online. The woman who posted had experienced a similar situation but said she asked her doctor to test her for Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma. These bacteria are sexually transmitted and cause recurrent BV. They are not considered an STD or STI so doctors do not test for them regularly, but your partner should be tested and treated as well! So frustrating that my doctor kept telling me “men can’t get BV so he doesn’t need to be tested” and not testing me for this! I took her advice and lo and behold! That’s why I kept getting BV back after treatment. Thought I’d share here too. But yeah... MetroGel sucks. Especially the discharge after... yuck."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I tried the 5-night vaginal gel and experienced no other symptoms besides extreme itching in and around the vagina, all 5 days and nights. I stuck with it and the infection went away. I did have the cottage cheese-looking discharge all 5 days, but it was only when I urinated, it wasn’t in my underwear."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "It has been a little over a year now that I've been experiencing BV continuously. The next day after intercourse, I get really irritated! Followed by 2 days, I get discharge and itchy. Sometimes I will have like onion smell or fishy smell. I went to the doctor, and she prescribed the gel. It works great. I did see clumps of white stuff coming out. But when we have intercourse again, I get it back again! We are trying to get pregnant, and I don't know if this is rejecting our pregnancy. I told my doctor, she said there really is nothing I can do, just tell my husband not to ejaculate inside me. There have been times when I asked him not to ejaculate, and it is true. I will not have any type of BV or irritation. It's only when we have intercourse and he ejaculates inside me that I get my pH balance irregular. My husband doesn't want to ejaculate outside. It's like I'm always on the gel, and she has me on it for 7 days. I take probiotics to help, but it doesn't seem to work because I still get BV after intercourse."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was prescribed the Metrogel 1x/day for 5 days for BV treatment. I used it at the same time every night at bedtime. It was painless to put in and did not fall out at all, even the next morning. Definitely make sure you put the applicator as far in as you can. I had no side effects except light discharge on day 4. Cleared up BV odor after just one day."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "This medication MetroGel-vag worked better than I expected, based on some other reviews. The smell was gone by day 3 of the 5-day treatment. I am about 2 weeks post-treatment and am BV free. I avoided using it for a month or so due to the side effect horror stories (vomiting, headache, pain, yeast infection, etc.). However, I had nearly 0 effects. The only side effects I experienced were discharge and cramping similar to period cramps, which was worth it to me to get rid of the embarrassing BV symptoms."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I've had some form of bacterial vaginitis (BV) and a yeast infection for a few months now. I went in for a pap and tested positive for both, so my OB-GYN prescribed MetroGel and Diflucan. I think both have helped, but I noticed a lot of discharge with the gel. I would have discharge the size of a quarter, and thick, multiple times a day. The symptoms of a yeast infection seem to be gone, so I'm not sure if it's from the gel or yeastie. Anyways, I didn't get the headaches or dizziness. Hoping this helps."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I'm 42 years old. Started with BV issues over the last 12 months. Tried antibiotics. Did not work. Lactic acid gels work but just temporarily. I used the MetroGel for 5 days. So far, no irritation, and the smell is gone completely. Currently, I am experiencing discharge, but no cramping so far. For Bacterial Vaginosis "For the last 6 months, I've been fighting BV that would not go away. I've been on 2 lots of antibiotics in pill form, metronidazole, that were disgusting to take and swallow, and that didn't do anything. I felt horrible when being on these, they seemed to make my symptoms worse. I had tests done and would always come back positive for BV. Finally, I went to a Gyno that listened, he prescribed me Metrogel instead of pill form, and I would always ask them for a Diflucan pill to take at the end of the course to stop a yeast infection, which it did. So, I've been on the Metrogel now for 4 days, which I was told to use twice a day for 5 days, and my symptoms of burning and itching went away on the second day. I've also had no bad side effects. By using this gel, you do get a white clumpy discharge, but that should go away when the course is finished. This is the best I've felt in 6 months and would definitely use again if needed."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was honestly scared to try this medication with all the reviews I’ve read. I had little to no side effects. My side effects were just a little bit of cramping and discharge with a little blood. Symptoms were noticeably better. Just stay away from alcohol."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I went to the doctor due to noticing a sweet smell or ammonia-type smell when I would urinate. I thought the problem was an underlying disease like diabetes. They tested me and BV is what fit. I have just finished my final dose last night out of 5 days. The thick white discharge seems to be a common thing, but the smell of my urine specifically hasn't changed, which is what led me to the doctor. Anyone else have a similar experience?"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I used this gel after being scared about reviews. I have lots of anxiety about certain meds due to side effects. I finally decided to give it a try. I had some side effects like minor stomach pain, but I do have IBS. This was the only side effect I had. No nausea, no headaches, etc. I do have white clumpy discharge, which is a common side effect of this med. Other than that, I'm okay! I just finished the treatment yesterday. I will update once the white clumpy discharge clears. Give this a try, guys!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "This is an August update from when I gave a review on 17 June 2019. After using the MetroGel, I went to get another swab and was still positive for BV. I would say the gel did help about 90%, only because I’m still experiencing the same discharge as before, just a lot less. I had a feeling I would end up using the gel, then have to take the pills after. I would suggest skipping the gel and just taking the pills. I’m confident these will clear the BV so I can get a pap smear after. I’ve birthed a baby, so all these swabs and side effects from medicine are nothing to worry about. I just want to get it over with... the joys of being a woman, lol."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "A few months ago, I had BV, and it was a moderate case. My symptoms were musty smell and discharge that would soak through my pants. I took the gel, and the discharge was mostly gone, and the smell was somewhat better. After about a month, my doctor said I still had BV, but it was mild (slight discharge, and I smelled like musty flowers). I thought the gel would make the smell go away. WRONG. After using the gel, I still have BV, and now I have a TREATMENT RESISTANT YEAST INFECTION. This made my life far worse and my self-esteem even worse than it was before. The only thing that worked for me in the past is probiotics. I opened one pill and put it where the sun don't shine and didn't get BV for a year until I had a new sex partner. However, they must have sold the company or something because now the same brand doesn't work anymore, and none of the other brands work either."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I took one dose nightly for five days. I’ve also been taking a vaginal probiotic. On day 3, I experienced the most horrible anxiety I’ve ever felt. I was SO anxious. All five nights, I had insomnia. I was sweating like crazy the whole five days, SOAKING through shirts. Again, this could be due to increased anxiety? Other than anxiety, no sleep, and lots of sweat, I had the usual clumpy discharge. It is four days post-treatment, and I feel normal. I finally started sleeping normally two days post-treatment, and I am no longer sweating or anxious. I am still experiencing clumps of discharge only when I use the bathroom, no more discharge otherwise! This is my second treatment in one year, almost to the date. My BV did come back when I started having unprotected sex with someone I now deem to not be the most hygienic, this was 8 months later. Ladies, a lot of research points to high saturated fat diets. I have since cut out cheese and dairy and limit my sugar."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Okay, so I had BV, and first my doctor called in the topical gel, but after getting the vaginal gel, I started using it as per normal. 1 applicator per night before bed. Okay, I'm gonna say I noticed a difference in feeling overnight. It felt better after the first use, but day 3 and 4 I noticed a weird discharge. Like super weird. I just finished treatment a day ago and am still having this bizarre discharge. I mean, hey, I feel better, but do not be scared if your discharge is really thick and chunky. It kind of freaked me out at first, but I read that is a normal side effect and means it’s working, so. So I mean, my coochie feels clean. Solid 7/10 experience."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "First time taking this. Worked after day one. The only thing I was concerned about was that I had a discharge that I couldn't explain. White clumpy stuff with some blood in it. But after reading reviews, seems normal. Some pelvic discomfort and back pain. Overall, liked it better than Flagyl."
