"I've been using Metronidazole .75 topical gel for a couple of years now. It works great! Then I tried a less expensive Zyomet brand, which I didn't see listed here. I noticed the product began 'peeling' as soon as I applied moisturizer, even if I waited the specified time before applying...seems it reacts with the moisturizer. I figured out it was only when I used the Zyomet, and it doesn't happen with the Metronidazole...so I began using the Zyomet at night (just to use it up) and the Metronidazole during the day. Also, the Zyomet doesn't work as well to prevent breakouts! I will never buy that brand again...I will stick to the real thing!"

"Two months ago, I was prescribed metronidazole gel .75 for treating my rosacea. Within days, the large number of tiny pimples on my forehead were gone, as well as the redness and roughness of the skin on my temples. The med also reduced the redness on my nose and cheeks. And for me at least, the overall smoothness and dryness reduction is remarkable. My doctor gave me a long-term refill, and I'm hoping to continue its use if it continues to work this well. Cost is under $30 at my pharmacy, btw."

"I'm 31 years old and have had almost flawless skin my whole life. About 1.5 years ago, I started breaking out on my chin and cheeks, and my nose has gradually become more and more red. I thought I had adult acne, so I would treat it with OTC acne medication and try to camouflage the bumps and redness with makeup, which made it much worse. My dad has rosacea, so I don't know why I didn't realize it was rosacea much sooner. He gave me a tube of his gel to try since paying for this medication can be quite pricey when you're not positive it'll work for you. I have only used the gel for one day, and I can already see results. Keeping my fingers crossed that I continue to experience positive results!"

Metronidazole topical "It is the best! It is the only medication my skin can handle. Useful for the most sensitive skin when nothing else can be tolerated. I have tried everything, and this plus ivermectin cream are the only medications I can use."

Metronidazole topical "Suffered with rosacea for years, delighted with results, but started experiencing a metallic taste and nausea after a week of use - have now had 3 weeks of nausea and wish I had read the enclosed leaflet to say that this was a side effect - my doctor was not aware of this."

Metronidazole topical "This is a follow-up from my comment on 2019-09-10. Once I stopped MetroGel, my face flared right back up. It's important people understand (like I didn't) before going on this. This FIXES the problem. If you're like me, this seems to be what has helped me on post-flare-up after MetroGel. (Face so dry) Keep looking, find a natural moisturizer and an oil. You need to create an artificial moisture barrier, I don't have one. EXFOLIATE once a week. Get all that dead skin off your face, along with any leftover moisturizer/oil. Immediately after drying your face, use oils and moisturizer. Water dries out my face. Why I only do it once a week. Avoid super hot showers. Another big thing for me was shampoo. In showers, the shampoo rinses off, comes in contact with my forehead, which causes INSTANT redness. Find a natural shampoo that works. These things will cost a bit. A good moisturizer will set you back $40 or so. Oils maybe $10. Along with shampoo at $12. Still way better than $220 for prescription meds that only help the problem once it's all over your face. Work on prevention."

Metronidazole topical "This cream made my rosacea 100% worse. It actually caused my face to burn, itch, and was very painful. I had to apply cold compresses to my face to relieve the pain. My dermatologist told me to stop using it and prescribed Triamcinolone ointment. This ointment took away the pain and some of the itching, and caused the red and purple bumps to flatten out. I'm still in the middle of a terrible flare-up. I am also taking Doxycycline 100 mg once daily. I think I am allergic to this cream."

"I have always had acne since I was 12. I am on birth control to help clear acne, but I am used to getting cysts and pimples on my chin area only. But recently, I have been getting papules and bumps that I never had before. Then, all of a sudden, with this cold weather, it turned to a rash around my cheeks and coming down to my skin, but not on my chin, and a rash between my eyebrows and forehead. I was diagnosed with rosacea, the kind with the bumps. I was prescribed metronidazole 0.75% cream twice a day and doxy 100 mg twice a day. Sometimes I think I notice a difference, and other times I don't. It has been 3 days already, but I do not see a huge difference. Hoping, after reading the positive reviews, that this med will work for me and give me some relief. Will update once I start seeing results!"

Metronidazole topical "When I used the lotion, I found that it did get rid of a few pimples. It definitely does not get rid of any redness whatsoever. Even though it's the same thing, I find the lotion to be more effective than the cream."

"After using metronidazole for 2 days, I could feel and see a difference! The inflammation, redness, and bumps decreased a lot! The burning and itchiness subsided! The product is a cream and has no scent."

Metronidazole topical "When I first put it on my face, it immediately felt a lot better. There wasn't any burning anymore, which I was happy about, but now that I'm continuing to use it, it's been not effective in clearing my rosacea up. (Yes, I know rosacea will never fully go away, but still.) It's still as red as it was before."

Metronidazole topical "I have had rosacea for years. I have kept it under control with an off-the-shelf product called Prosacea. During a recent flare-up, I happened to be at my doctor's for another matter. She noticed my face and prescribed MetroGel. It was useless for me. It made no difference. I even tried, for 3 weeks, on only half my face, and I could see no difference between the two sides. At $140 a tube (Canadian), it was a big waste of money."

Metronidazole topical "MetroGel has helped me manage my rosacea down to about 90%. If I stop using it, then I flare right back up. Missing just 1 or 2 days, and poof, pimples start coming up immediately. When I use it religiously, it's better."

"Initially had a good response to the gel, but 10 days after starting it, I looked like I had a mild sunburn. I then started getting multiple finger joint swelling with swelling, redness, and pain, and then gastric problems. Obviously having side effects. Back to neomycin cream!"

"I tried Soolantra first for my rosacea/acne, but it made my face way worse. Red, bumpy, inflamed. Apparently, I had some kind of reaction to it. I was switched to metronidazole gel about a month ago. Within days, my face started clearing up and my skin became extremely soft for the first time ever. I don't even need to moisturize anymore, it's amazing! I've been extremely impressed with this medication, and I'll keep using it as long as they make it!"

"Day 1 of rosacea flare-up - thought I was having an allergic reaction to seafood. My face turned red and swollen, my chest was covered in a rash. I took Benadryl that did nothing other than make me sleep. Day 2 - symptoms got worse with my skin hurting but realized it was rosacea. I had a tube of metronidazole cream that I put on immediately, relieving the pain. Day 3 - skin looks much better today. Started on minocycline 50 mg. qid. Couldn't sleep because of itching. Day 4 - less redness and swelling. No itching. Day 5 and on - cheeks still red but otherwise look normal. Rash is gone. After stopping the metronidazole, skin texture gradually returned to normal. I'm still on the antibiotic."

Metronidazole topical "It worked for about 2 months and then quit helping me. Before I went on MetroGel, I had no flushing and just one itchy bump on my face occasionally. For 2 months, it completely stopped the itchy bumps from happening. Unfortunately, all of the sudden, I started flushing and am getting little acne-like bumps all around my mouth and forehead, along with the original itchy bumps I had before all over my face. I guess the itchy bumps are less itchy than they used to be, so that's something at least. So, yeah, for me, it just stopped working and now I'm much worse than before. I'm still using it, but I'm going to ask my dermatologist to switch me to something else."

"I found the Rozex cream worked better, and I didn't get any dry, flaking skin or redness like I did with the gel. Used daily (with sunblock) when I have a flare-up, the cream works excellently. You do have to persist until the flare-up has gone, though. I rate Rozex cream 10/10."

"I am 43 and noticed a change in my face after my second baby. After breastfeeding, I was finally excited to see a dermatologist. Immediately, I was told it was rosacea. She prescribed doxycycline and Metro gel. Within days, I saw improvements, but at my 60-day appointment, I still looked red. She told me to continue and return in 60 days. I am nearing my appointment with no acne but redness and a slight scarring complexion. My cheeks, nose, and chin get really red from heat or spicy foods, I've noticed. I don't really feel like the Metro gel is helping much because I always wear a little redness nowadays."

"I am only on my second day and already see improvement. I hope it keeps working as well as it is now. BTW... I eat a keto diet, and my rosacea was very mild to none after I started my keto diet 7 months ago. I recently went off keto, and after just a few days, my rosacea blew up really worse than ever. I'm back on keto... I also had heartburn at least twice a week before keto. While on keto, no heartburn ever, not once in 7 months! If you have rosacea, look into a keto diet."

Metronidazole topical "After having good skin in my teens and 20s, I developed rosacea acne in my 30s. I tried all kinds of skincare products for sensitive skin and non-prescription rosacea creams, but none were effective. Rozex has been amazing. I have been using it twice daily as directed, and within a few weeks, it cleared up my skin problems by around 95% with no side effects. It has been working well for a few months now, but I don't know if my skin will return to its previous state when I stop using it!"

"I had barely noticeable rosacea on my forehead that I asked the MD about during a skin check, and he prescribed this. It totally exacerbated the problem all over my scalp. I pray it goes away. I would never use this and will never return to that practice."

"This stuff has worked great for me. I’ve been on it for a little over a month now, and I’ve never seen my skin this clear in a very long time. I’m 35 and have been dealing with acne since I was a teenager. I got the cream type of metronidazole, by the way. It seems to moisturize as well."

"It really hasn't seemed to change anything for me other than it lightened a tiny bit of the redness. I'm hoping it's just because I've only been using it for 3 weeks. Hopeful but skeptical, been down this road many times, nothing seems to work entirely for me."
