Mobic (meloxicam) for Osteoarthritis "Started taking this medication about two weeks ago. I gained weight and swelling in hand, legs, feet, and ankles. Belly swollen too. I am stopping this medication immediately before something more serious happens. This happened before while on this medication."

For Osteoarthritis "I was prescribed Mobic for C-3-4-5 herniated disc repair, plate screws, and fusion post-surgery meds. This was a horrible drug for me. I swelled in my face, hands, and feet, so much so I looked like a different person. Water retention maximized! Then, complicating matters, is the weight gain! I gained 15 pounds in 2 months! I am a petite 110 lb woman. The added weight raised my blood pressure and I needed to see a cardiologist and get prescription meds to return me back to where I started! I would NOT recommend this medication. Since then, my pain is managed and monitored by prescription pain meds not NSAIDs."

Mobic (meloxicam) for Osteoarthritis "Mobic has been great for my arthritis. I've had Mobic prescribed by several different doctors over the past 10 years and 1) haven't had a problem with it, and 2) it's one of the only medications that helps with my arthritis, which I have in just about every joint but my elbows. Ibuprofen works too, but I started retaining fluid and swelling up after taking it off and on for several years. Hope nothing similar happens with Mobic, as it's a godsend."

For Pain "I have had lower back/hip pain for several years. It was increasingly interfering with daily activities, and some days I could barely walk, and trying to get to sleep at night was torture. My doctor gave me meloxicam, 15 mg. Almost pain-free after one dose. And after the second day, I had complete pain relief. Unfortunately, I developed bilateral lower edema. I stopped taking the medication a few days ago, and the edema has resolved. Tonight, I will try 7.5 mg. Hoping I can still get relief without the side effects. Definite 10/10 without the side effects."

Mobic (meloxicam) for Osteoarthritis "Just started Mobic this week, and I've already gained 4 minutes back on my nightly walk. I'm 32 and suffer from severe osteoarthritis in my hips. I haven't noticed much change in my swelling, but am already sleeping for longer periods of time."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "After a year and a half on meloxicam, I figured out why I was so puffy, mean, and snappy 'PMS.' I gained 50 lbs. I was so very angry. I stay bruised all the time. Always wanted to eat, and I normally eat once a day. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. My joints are still swollen, I had better results with ibuprofen when I was taking way too many of them, but when the benefits outweigh the risks, you do what you got to do. After meloxicam, I went back to ibuprofen, but only 800 mg three times a day."

For Fibromyalgia "Mobic has helped with my fibromyalgia pain, but one side effect is swelling, and my feet and legs stay swollen no matter how much water I drink. My orthopedic doctor prescribed it for my hip pain, he said to stop taking it because of the swelling. Boo hoo! It really made a difference in my pain level!"

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "This drug is a lifesaver for me. I have lupus and RA. I see a lot of people on here complaining about gaining weight. I actually lost weight when I began to take it, 30 lbs. My inflammation numbers, CRP and Sed Rate, were 3 times what they were supposed to be. I recently did find out the hard way that you do gain weight with this medication if you are taking a blood pressure medication with a diuretic in it (HCTZ and others), it causes swelling. You shouldn't be taking this NSAID with any diuretics, so talk to your Dr. about that."

For Pain "I was having knee pain and some swelling in my knee. My orthopedic prescribed meloxicam. I took only 1 pill, 15 mg, and not only did it keep me up all night, I had horrible nightmares and woke up with my head feeling heavy. This is the worst medication I have ever taken. He prescribed 30 pills, well, the rest of the 29 are in the garbage."

For Osteoarthritis "I took one pill in the afternoon, and woke up the next morning with my whole face swollen. My doctor told me to take Benadryl, which I did for 24 hours. It's been 4 days, and the swelling is almost gone. I've been feeling funky all week. I don't recommend anyone take this. Ever."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Had found out I had some cervical stenosis, a couple of spots were close to the spinal cord. Dr. prescribed meloxicam for inflammation. It worked awesome. I could move my neck better than I had before. But 12 pills in, I started to get hives on my face, and some facial swelling, heart racing. Had to go to the ER. It's sad that I have so many med allergies. I wish I could have taken this. It worked for me for inflammation."

Mobic (meloxicam) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been prescribed 4 different arthritis medicines... Mobic being one of them. Took as directed and took for a minimum of 3 weeks. It didn't help me at all. Steroids seem to be the only thing that helps. Had fluid removed from both knees within a week of each other, and then knee surgery (subchondroplasty) in February. I have found no surgery and no medicine has helped. Within a couple of days of being off the steroids, both my knees will swell up, and I have to use a walker or crutches to walk more than 2 feet."

For Tendonitis "I’ve had tendinitis deep in my groin since January 2018. I’ve had 18 sessions of acupuncture, which provided temporary relief. My doctor prescribed meloxicam in September. It doesn’t really seem to work. I also had ten weeks of physical therapy, with daily stretching. I live in a two-story home, and the stairs sure don't help matters. Thinking of passing on the drug. One day, my face got extremely red and swollen. I blamed it on the Santa Ana winds in Southern Cal. Could be the drug."

For Pain "I've taken meloxicam for pain from endometriosis for about 6 months now. I used to take it with a different manufacturer, but insurance made me change pharmacies, which in turn changed to this manufacturer. Almost immediately, once I started taking this manufacturer's pills, all of my previous symptoms of pain and inflammation came back. It is almost like I'm not even taking the meloxicam anymore. I am now having to pay for it out of pocket so that I can actually get medication that works. It is crazy how much can change from manufacturer to manufacturer. If it doesn't work for you with this one, try another. I like ZYD the best."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "Been taking for going on 2 months. Started out on 7.5 mg and primary care doctor increased to 15 mg. Does not do anything for me. Still have swelling in hands, feet, and wrist. Still in pain, Aleve works better than Mobic for me. Can't get in to see a rheumatologist till May. There has to be something out there better than Mobic."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "Rheumatoid arthritis has taken me so low I don't think anything could pick me up outside of rheumatoid arthritis medicine. Meloxicam has also done a number on my body. After two years of trial and error trying to find the right rheumatoid medicine, I was on meloxicam. I went from 155 pounds to 198 lbs. Not only was I fat, I was mean and ugly. PMS, puffy, mean, and snappy. It's been about a year since I stopped taking meloxicam, happily, I am now 152 lbs. I have peace back in my head, by the grace of God, I now feel like my old self again."

For Osteoarthritis "72-year-old healthy female with minor arthritis in my neck. I have been on one meloxicam daily dose of 7.5 mg for 3 weeks. I just stopped taking it because of experiencing about 6 side effects. Thankfully, my neck pain is not extreme. If it were, I may have continued taking it. Side effects, which worsened in week two to week three: weight gain - this was during the Christmas holiday, so I may have actually put on about 2 lbs, but I have gained about 7 lbs around my middle. Dizziness has increased in week three. Sometimes I have trouble walking or getting up. Facial swelling, particularly in the eyelids, but also across my nose and cheeks (sinus area). Bloating and swelling on hands. Sadness, crying. Hoarseness. Confusion, got my days mixed up and more."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I have been taking meloxicam off and on a couple of weeks at a time for 6 months, but for 5 weeks I have been taking it solid. It has caused me to gain 8 lb. I had a hip pinning 6 months ago, and my knee has been inflamed ever since, which is why I'm taking the meloxicam, and it has helped tremendously. I'm now having edema in the leg and foot on my left side, plus my blood pressure has gone up to 180/108 today, so I have stopped taking it. I will see my doctor in a week for a cortisone shot, and I do not plan on going back on meloxicam due to the side effects."

Mobic (meloxicam) "I have been on Mobic for 1 week. Treatment for osteoarthritis, but still waiting for a diagnosis. The last 3 days, I noticed swelling in my right foot, which has now moved up my leg. Nothing going on to the left foot. As far as treating my physical pain, I have felt no change."
