Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I took Depo-Provera injection many years ago. I never had a period or spotting from the first shot. I was on it for 6 years no issues other than weight gain. I got the shot again on September 10, 2020. I started bleeding 10 days ago. The cramps are extreme to the point I don't want to get out of bed. Which is not possible, I have 3 children age 8, 2, and 1 and a stay at home mom. Over the counter medication does not help with pain. There are too many of us experiencing the same things and a lot of us have already taken depo before with no issues."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Birth Control "The depo is the worst thing I have ever put in my body. Ladies please re-consider before using this. Along with so many physical symptoms (nausea, acne, fatigue, heart burn, bloating cramps, bleeding constantly) the emotional symptoms are very prominent and worse than the physical ones. I believe this drug is destroying my relationship, I have no interest in sex or physical touch, I’m irritable all the time, depressed and have a constant feeling of emptiness that was not there before the depo my personality and mood took a full 180 on the depo. I am not going back in for my next injection. Something to also note is that the FDA is trying to pull this drug off the shelves. Please if you’re considering the depo do your research! I wish that I did."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Hello, I had previously commented and would like to do a follow-up. I was bleeding for over a week and started taking Provera. My doctor gives me 6 months' worth, not 10 days' worth as I read over and over again on this forum (one 10mg pill once a day). I bled worse for 3 weeks, and as of now, for 5 days straight, no bleeding at all. It just takes time to work. The cramping and bleeding were bad for the 3 weeks 'cleaning out' phase. I felt horrible, but now I feel like a new woman. No cramps, no bleeding, and other than a little fatigue, no side effects from the Provera. I was on this med 2 previous times, and it worked the same both times. After I take it for a while, I stop and let my body rest from it until I bleed again, and my doctor puts me on it again. I hope this is helpful!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Amenorrhea "I have never had a normal cycle. I started on birth control very young because I had constant bleeding that was almost never-ending for years. I switched the type of birth control I was on over the years at least 15 times and nothing was able to control the relentless bleeding. At 24, I got married and stopped taking the pill altogether, at which time my cycle also completely stopped. For a year, my husband and I tried to conceive with no luck, so finally I switched to an OBGYN specialist who prescribed me Provera. I took the Provera for 10 days, and by day 6 or 7, I had already begun my period which lasted for 7 days. Two weeks after my period stopped, I conceived my daughter. I highly recommend Provera for infertility problems!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had abnormal uterine bleeding and I didn't know why. I started passing clots & was bleeding irregularly. I thought, at first, that I was having a miscarriage. I went to my GYN. She prescribed Provera 10mg once a day for 10 days. I just finished my prescription & the only problem that I'm having now is sensitive breast. Other than that, my bleeding has completely stopped."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was on depo from 2008-2011 with zero side effects. My periods were gone completely after the first shot and I had no weight gain and minimal mood swings. Fast forward to July 2020, all finished having children I got the shot again. I’ve now been bleeding heavily everyday for three weeks straight. Looking at this review forum makes me think the manufacturer made a change in early 2019 that quite obviously is not working with the majority of women’s menstruation. Who wants to bleed every day for a year?! NO ONE. I WILL NEVER GET THIS SHOT EVER AGAIN. NEVER."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Amenorrhea "I have PCOS, and I take Provera every 3 months in order to get periods. I take 10mg for 7 days, and then a few days later I have my period. When I first started it, I would only take it for 5 days. When I took it for 5 days, my period wouldn’t come for TWO WEEKS. But then when the doctor said to try it for 7 days, my period came on day 9 (two days after taking it). I have no side effects from it, other than it makes me really hungry. But that goes away after a week or so. Works like a charm. Highly recommend for PCOS with no periods."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Amenorrhea "Didn't have a period for 1.5 years - was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and hypothyroidism. As hubby and I have been trying to conceive, not having any periods has been difficult to judge any ovulation. Was put on Provera to induce a period before the doctor prescribes any ovulation medicines. Took Provera for 10 days, didn't have any side effects. But after I stopped, I felt nauseous, breasts were very sensitive, was over emotional/very irritable, and a bit dizzy at times. Had light spotting on day 3 and 4 after stopping Provera, then period starting on day 5. Day 5 and 6 were light-medium, but then afterwards was extremely heavy for 2-3 days with really bad cramping."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This medicine has been a complete life changer for me. Having heavy periods 4 months non stop bleeding I am 40 years old. I was prescribed 10 milligrams for 10 days. If it wasn't for this medicine my everyday life would be unbearable. Some drugs aren't for everyone. This one is by far the best. Everyone says it can cause cancer it has bad side effects. Doesn't everything in life cause cancer and have bad side effects this drug is so helpful prolonged uterine bleeding I would recommend this to anyone. This medicine save me from a complete hysterectomy so why everyone voices their opinions on it don't take it go on and bleed and deal with it and quit complaining about it maybe if it wasn't for the stress in your life your periods would be reg"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I thought I would get Depo after a pregnancy scare my first jab was given at the beginning of August 2019, I bled from the next day onwards right up to when the next one was due so I decided not to have it, and it’s now mid-feb and I am still bleeding, I have had the occasional day where I think it’s over and it comes right back. In total over 6 months I have had 5 days of non-bleeding! It is almost like a form of torture, I thought it would be out my system by now!! DO NOT HAVE THIS, IT WILL BE THE BIGGEST REGRET OF YOUR LIFE!!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had been having spotting for 3 months so went to my doctor for a transvaginal ultrasound where they found I had a large polyp. Fast forward a couple of weeks I had a hysteroscopy and had the polyp removed. I was prescribed 10mg provera for 14 days in order to kick start my cycle back into normal rhythm. My period arrived 3 days after I stopped taking them and I am still bleeding 10 days later. The bleeding has been the heaviest I’ve ever had with huge clots I was changing my sanitary product every 30mins so I phoned my gp who prescribed Tranexamic acid to help slow the bleeding. I am on day 10 still bleeding and with horrific cramping when will this ever stop???"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had heavy than usual periods, passing multiple clots. It finally sent me to the hospital to where I had to have a blood transfusion because my hemoglobin levels were at 4.7 and the should have been at 15. My GP said I should really see my OB/GYN. I took an ultrasound found out that I have multiple fibroids is the reason I was bleeding heavy. She gave me Provera to slow the bleeding. I take 10mg 2X a day only when my periods start . It has slowed to a crawl. This is a miracle, it’s working for me so far. I hope it continues to work."

I was told that after my 3rd shot, the bleeding would stop, but it hasn't. I'm considering switching to the pill at the end of this month. I cannot take this bleeding anymore."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Was prescribed this drug once a day for heavy bleeding that would not stop. I am 48 years old and I guess going through the change. It took 3 weeks but this med made the bleeding go away. To the ladies that have only been taking a few days and still bleeding, give it some time before you give up."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Birth Control "Took this in October. Started bleeding start of November and still consistently bleeding now 7 months later. Only took one injection. I gained weight everywhere even though I'm active and healthy, lost my sex drive which has always been very high. Nausea everyday to the point of throwing up. Insomnia for weeks on end. Raging emotions, sad and crying one minute, angry and shouting the next. Hot flashes, blurry vision, throbbing headaches and joint pain. I was not told any side effects in the clinic only that it stops periods and lessens cramps. I wish I was given a leaflet to make an informed decision. 7 months later and I'm loosing weight slowly, sleeping better and had been having sex occasional but it's a bloody mess and hit and miss if I climax at all. I just want the period to end. I would recommend ginseng as a mood booster and evening primrose oil to regulate your hormones. These brought back my libido a bit and made me less suicidal. Never again!!!!!"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I’ve took depo awhile back when I was around 17/18 , I’ve never experienced bleeding like this I recently got the Depo-Provera injection again because I have really horrible periods and extreme cramps, so I decided that I would go back on depo it was the worst thing I ever did. I experienced light spotting when I receive my first injection but I went in for my second around July 2020 and I’m still bleeding non stop and it’s getting very overwhelming because I can’t have sex with my boyfriend or if I do I have to take a shower first it’s really annoying I don’t recommend it to anyone you’ll be depressed for months"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Birth Control "I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AT ALL! It is effective at preventing pregnancy but the side effects for me are not worth it at all. I have been on it for about 2 months now and I am suffering everyday. Before the shot everything was fine with me but about 2-3 weeks after I got it I started getting terrible stomach pains, headaches, bad acne on my back which I've never had before, and before the shot I've never got a UTI but since I got it I'm constantly getting painful reoccurring UT’s no matter how much water I drink, I even had to go on antibiotics twice and they came back. My sex drive is so low now because when I have sex I am in so much pain, and I know I don’t have diseases, infections etc. because my doctors even did tests and they all came back negative. THIS IS JUST THE ABSOLUTE WORST THING I HAVE EVER DONE!! I WOULD RATHER GET PREGNANT 10 TIMES THEN GET THIS SHOT AGAIN!!!"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been taking the Depo-Provera for over 20 years, never had a period until a little over a year ago and now it comes and go's whenever it feels like, I never know when to expect it, i just thought this was normal due to the fact I had been on it so long, but then I went for my last injection a few days ago and I brought this up with my doctor and he told me this was not normal and is quite concerned and is now sending me to have a bunch of tests and freaking me out wondering what could be wrong and now I am reading all these reviews and thinking myself they have changed the product as everyone seems to be having similar issues, time to change to something different I think!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 52 years old and clearly have been through the change of life. I've had no period for years. All of a sudden, I have some spotting so I go to my doctor. He does a surgical procedure to scrape the lining of my uterus and then puts me on 2, 10 mg Medroxyprogesterone a day, for 20 days. Four days after my last pill the bleeding started. I have NEVER had such a bad period in all of my 52 years of life! I have had 3 children and this is worse than the labor of all three!! I will NEVER take that medicine again!! They can do a hysterectomy and take the womb I haven't needed in decades. I can't even leave the house because when I stand up, I gush blood!! Roll over in bed, gush blood!! Not Happy!! Why didn't my doctor warn me about this?????"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got this shot back in July. I went to the clinic for depo provera and I really thought this was gonna help. I guess I was wrong. Ever since August, I have had irregular bleeding but not a period just spotting and bleeding that happens at random times and I always get blood on my underwear and I don’t want to wear pads every single day. It’s been 7 months now and I’m still having this problem. I know it’s normal to have irregular bleeding but it should have stopped by now. This shot has been no help and I’m always having cramps and bleeding and I’m miserable. And if I stop the shot I’ll bleed for even longer and I really don’t want that. I don’t know what to do to make my periods regular and make my long periods never happen again. I don’t know if I should switch to the IUD cause I’ll probably have more side effects and I’m sick of it. Never should have gotten this shot. Big regret."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started bleeding July 15 and it’s now Sep 14 I went to my doctor they did an ultrasound they said everything looked fine blood work came back fine and that sometimes it’s just the way it is not knowing why I’m bleeding so much! Anyways I threw a fit with the doctor told her bleeding during intercourse and so much is not normal! She tried to tell me it was the positions we were doing and I said no, I just want to know why. So she prescribed provera 10mgs 1 tablet a day for 10 days. I am now on day 6 and the bleeding went from a little to so heavy I am changing my pads every hour! My cramps are unbearable and there is so many blood clots! I just emailed my doctor to see what she says fingers crossed that she can help give me answers!"
