For Bowel Preparation "Don’t get anxiety over the whole colonoscopy and prep! I was getting a lot of anxiety after reading a lot of these posts. My experience with the Suprep wasn’t bad at all, as a matter of fact, it tasted like a margarita after following some of the suggestions in regards to adding Crystal Light. All diarrhea was non-violent, no cramps, no chills (warmed-up water bottles), no nausea, and no sweating or headaches. Prepped at 5:00, began the diarrhea at 5:50 and for the most part completed by 7:30-8:00ish. Started the 2nd prep at 9:00 and completed the water bottles by 9:30, began diarrhea at 10:00, and was completed by 12:00-12:30 and went to bed. Had colonoscopy and upper scope done at 6:30 am and next I knew I was waking up at 7:30 am in the recovery room passing gas, LOL. I just wanted to let people know that you should probably average out the comments on here so that you don’t drive yourself and your family nuts with your anxiety."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my first 'Suprep'. The kit was basic and easy to follow. I started at 4:00 PM. It tasted horrible, as expected. After another 2 16 oz cups of water, I began to get very cold. The prep kicked in about an hour later. No problem until the 2-hour mark, then all hell broke loose. There was water coming out of me so fast that I couldn't make it to the bathroom in time. I was almost ready to give up, but by the second prep time at 10:00 PM, I was ready to give it another try. Although I was semi-gagging as I drank down the liquid, I finished it. Again, I started shivering, getting tired, and having stomach cramps. Again, I couldn't get to the bathroom in time twice, so I ended up sleeping on my bathroom floor that night. Thank goodness I did. My colonoscopy was normal and the doctor commended me for doing the prep so well. I told him, 'Now I know why colonoscopies are done every 5 years - that's how long it'll take me to physically and emotionally recover from the Suprep'."

For Bowel Preparation "Ok, so after reading all the horror stories today, I was a mess before taking the first dose. Obviously, not the best tasting thing, but definitely not the worst. Worst aspect was how full you feel after the 16 ounces of product than 32 of water. 15 mins or so later, and I was already in the bathroom. Not unpleasant at all, in fact, better than my normal experience (hence why I am getting scoped). No nausea, cramps, chills, nothings. Don’t let the bad reviews scare you!"

For Bowel Preparation "Cannot emphasize this enough, I am a hypochondriac and love to worry so naturally I only focused on the less-than-favorable reviews. Well, let me tell you, don't worry. Tastes a LOT like BC powder chased by a cherry coke. Yucky but over quickly and, at least to me, nowhere near as bad as some described. Actually, the worst part was drinking so much water. Made me burp a bunch and feel bloated somewhat. Since I was hungry from only drinking liquids, this was not completely unwelcome. Felt chilled for a little bit but I think this was more from being so nervous. Took an hour to kick in and since then has been doing its job. No cramping, just lots of 'I gotta go'. If this is the worst, then this will be about the easiest procedure ever."

For Bowel Preparation "This was to be my 5th colonoscopy. I have never experienced anything like this. 6 hours in the bathroom. Uncontrollable shivering, trying not to vomit, feeling faint and not able to complete prep. My husband had to carry/drag me to bed and had to help me with everything for 4 days. I have been so weak. Needless to say, the colonoscopy had to be canceled. Just want to know why this $105 copay Suprep is given to this 103-pound woman and the same kit is given to a 200-pound man?"

For Bowel Preparation "After reading a lot of comments here about how terrible this stuff tastes and how bad the experience was, I expected it to be pretty bad. It wasn't. The taste was like a mildly flavored but extra, extra salty Gatorade. I had no problem on the first or the second day drinking the 16 oz. cup of medication plus water. I had no noteworthy nausea, chills, cramps, or other discomfort. I did feel very full/bloated after drinking such large volumes of fluid, but the intended purging started within a half-hour or so, and the feeling of significant fullness dissipated after a few trips to the bathroom. Expelling the fluid was not painful or difficult (definitely not difficult). I never felt like I wasn't going to be able to get there in time. I took the first dose as directed at 7 PM and the second at 4 AM. I am male, 75 years old, and weigh about 210 lbs. All in all, the whole thing was much less horrible than I would have expected based on many of the comments here."

For Bowel Preparation "Easier to consume the amount required compared to the previous method, which required drinking a huge amount the night before (difficulty doing that one). I agree the taste is not the greatest. I dabbed my finger in hot Chinese mustard and coated my tongue afterward to get rid of the aftertaste. Do whatever works for you. I did not experience chills, excessive bloating, or pain, just a full feeling. It started to work in about 1 hour. I started at 6 PM and was able to go to bed about 10 PM without the need to go again. I repeated the process at about 5:30 AM and left the house at 8:30 for the clinic, with no problems with diarrhea. All in all, it wasn't that difficult or unpleasant. Mental attitude is a big factor."

For Bowel Preparation "Tastes horrible but effective. I had no nausea or chills. I drank it at 4:45 PM and really nothing for 1 1/2 hours... then a regular bowel motion. About a half hour later, Katy, bar the door. Then the squirts till about 10:00. I got up a couple of times in the night but no big deal. At 4:15 in the morning, I suffered through the second dose. Immediate results and squirts for about 1 1/2 hours and a few sporadic times after that. It is 7, and I think I am done. Almost time to head out. My procedure is at 9:40. I hope this is it for the next 5 years. I think the worst part is not eating. I am ready for some Mexican food. A huge pile of enchiladas, rice, beans, hot sauce, and hot flour tortillas smeared with butter."

For Bowel Preparation "I have to do this every year, due to Crohn's disease. I still get nervous and anxious, like most. However, it's never that bad! I actually guzzle the prep, right out of the bottle, after having it in the freezer, to the point of almost icy. Then I chase it with strong, ice-cold lemonade and then apple juice. Since you need so much fluid, that much water makes me nauseous. I sometimes get nausea, sometimes chills, and usually bloated. That goes away for me when I start going. Another great tip, while you're going? I use pure coconut oil instead of Desitin and only wipe/blot with flushable baby wipes that I keep in the fridge! :D"

For Bowel Preparation "I must be a little strange because I thought Suprep was not that bad. This was my first colonoscopy, so I don't have any prior experience to compare it to. Everyone told me the prep was horrible. I took the first dose at 7 pm. Smelled and tasted like grape. I mixed with cold, cold water. Drank the first dose in less than 2 mins, followed by 2 16 oz bottles of water within 20 mins. Made 5 or so trips to the bathroom and went to sleep around 11 pm. The 2nd dose was at 4 am. I was really not looking forward to the 2nd dose. I had a slight headache, and I have to say that after I drank each dose, I got slightly chilled. But, once the pooping began, the chills and headache went away."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm a 65 y/o female. This is my first colonoscopy, so I read everything, watched videos, etc. I was dreading drinking the Suprep. Well, I have to tell you, it was a breeze! Here are my tips: 1. If you can, start your liquid diet 2 days before. 2. Drink the prep at room temp with room temp water. I think the chills and stomach pain others talked about came from drinking that much liquid cold and fast. 3. No straw, just HOLD YOUR NOSE for ZERO taste! After drinking it, I swished ginger ale around in my mouth (and spit it out). Voila! No nasty taste. 4. Divide the 32 oz of water you have to drink in an hour into 4-8 oz glasses and set a timer to drink one every 15 minutes. First poo in 45 mins. Easy peasy. Good luck!"

For Bowel Preparation "Had no problems with this prep. The taste isn't that bad. Just drink it as quickly as you can. You can try adding some apple juice or have a popsicle just before drinking it. Then stay close to the bathroom because it will work quickly. And you may have some chills with it too. The second half of the prep is the next morning, which works out great. You take it a few hours before your procedure."

For Bowel Preparation "Piece of cake. I stopped eating meat, poultry, and fish 2 days prior. Ate low-fiber foods the day before prep, and only liquids the day of. Placed Suprep and water in the freezer one hour before drinking. Mixed it as per instructions, and drank it all through a straw in 10 minutes flat. In between drinks, I'd swish some Powerade around to kill the aftertaste. Drank my 32 ounces of water in another 15 minutes, and waited. Didn't have to wait long! 45 minutes after the first gulp, it had arrived at the other end. Off and on the toilet, and it was over 90 minutes later. The 3am feeding produced the same results, but this time it only took 15 minutes to arrive. 1 hour later, it too had finished. No chills, nausea, or headache. Taste not that bad."

For Bowel Preparation "I started my first round at 5:30 pm on Mother's Day (Lovely!!). Yes, it is disgusting, horribly salty, but I managed to get it down without too much fanfare. I followed that with two 16 oz bottles of water mixed with a packet of electrolyte powder. Got all that down by 6:30, and by 7, the fun started. I was a little underwhelmed by the, er, movements. Only the first one was impressive. The rest were relatively benign. I had no cramping or nausea, but I did feel cold all evening, probably because of the lack of food and the cold liquids. By about 10:30, I was done. I managed to sleep uninterrupted until my alarm went off at 6:15 to start the second round. Things happened much more quickly this time, probably because there was nothing much left to flush out. By about 8:30, anything that came out was clear water. I had my last trip to the bathroom about 11:00. In summary, the Suprep was unpleasant. However, I've tolerated much worse things in my life. This will soon be forgotten."

For Bowel Preparation "Midnight... Just finished the second dose. The taste was about like a crappy (no pun intended) juice drink. I didn’t eat much the day before my prep day, and I think that made things easier. The shivering is there, so I cranked up the heat in our spare bedroom to spare my wife. Drank all the water at once, didn’t wait to do it over the one hour. So.... Now I wait for dose 2 to take effect. Dose 1 worked as expected, and I’m pretty sure that fasting before the prep day helped."

For Bowel Preparation "I read many of the reviews before I had to take my first dose at 6 PM. I had to stop reading because the comments were making me nervous. I took the advice of putting it in the fridge. I also filled a pitcher with ice water and put that in the fridge, which I used to mix with the Suprep. The taste was not bad. It reminded me of the grape-flavored Motrin I would give my kids when they were younger. But there was a very salty taste to it, too. It started working almost immediately. Be kind to yourself and get some soft toilet paper or wet wipes. Vaseline helps, too. I was done with bowel movements by 8:15. The second dose (at 5 AM) did not go as smoothly. I felt kind of nauseated while drinking it. I did get it down and the 2 additional 16 oz of water, but I had the chills and felt bloated. It works well."

For Bowel Preparation "Was dreading this process, but had the mindset that I can plug my nose and down the drink for the sake of my health. It was NOT BAD AT ALL!!! Salty grape flavor, but easy peasy to drink. Drinking 32 oz of Gatorade afterwards was no problem as well. I got a little lightheaded and super cold afterward, but that passed within a few minutes and the prep kicked in about 15 minutes after I drank it. No cramping, no abdominal discomfort, and minimal runs to the bathroom, and within an hour and a half I’m done. My trick...I started my ‘liquid diet’ two days before my prep - having only chicken noodle soup and lots of broth. After the hour and a half, my bowel movements are completely clear already. I will be calling the doctor's office in the morning to see if I even need to do the second prep...but if I do, no big deal. This was 100% easier than I expected. Mindset for the win! Good luck!!!"

For Bowel Preparation "So I am a bowel prep veteran. I've unfortunately had like 12 or more, diagnosed with colitis for literally more than half my life (back in 1990), and I am almost 45. I am used to all the gross ones, and requested the HalfLytely but had no clue it was no longer on the shelves. I guess everyone is different because I just mixed my cherry-flavored Suprep with Crystal Lite lemonade, and maybe I'm weird, but I actually like it! I should have no issues getting it down. Tasty compared to others I've had, and the texture is much less slimy and sludgy. The water will be harder to down. By the way, chills and/or headaches come from your body being in shock from rapid emptying and dehydration. Very common, always happens to me halfway through."

For Bowel Preparation "I started my prep at 5 pm for an 8 am appointment. If you have plans to mix it, use anything other than cherry flavor, as it already comes cherry flavored. I mixed mine with cold water, drank it using a straw, and it was horrific. The BM started within an hour. Expect it to be completely liquid. Within a few hours, it stopped. My second dose was set for 2 am, but I started at 1 am since I knew I wasn’t going to be able to drink it. This is the time I had chilled the medication, but it made no difference. I even tried sipping vegetable broth in between sips, which didn’t help, but what did help was gargling with Listerine Cool Mint mouthwash in between sips. I was able to drink about half, then quit due to wanting to vomit. With the second bottle, I had chills and nausea, and BM started 15 minutes later. This prep was the worst thing I had to consume, although it is very effective. I will never use this medication again. I will go back to Miralax, which was more tolerable. I don’t understand why they can make a pill camera for the GI but can’t manage a palatable bowel prep."

For Bowel Preparation "3 colonoscopy - this prep was actually a very good experience. The only reason I did not give it a 10 was that the prep is nasty-tasting, but not horrific. First dose worked in less than 30 min, and after about 4 trips to the toilet, I was done. Chills but no cramps. That cleaned me out, so the second dose at 5 am was easier. Hydrated (Gatorade) and low fiber diet the week before helped."

For Bowel Preparation "I am 39, female. I took Suprep for a colonoscopy due to family history. I have severe allergic reactions with many medications, including penicillin and sulfa meds. I get hives often. I’m always nervous about taking things and the side effects! I freaked myself out reading reviews! However, my experience was fine. As to the taste, it’s not great, but no real complaints. I mixed it with water and Gatorade. After the first dose, I had severe chills, and my toes and fingers felt so cold they were numb. I took a hot shower and was relieved that went away. The toilet situation wasn’t that bad, on and off for a few hours. It was basically like pooping water. The second dose the next morning, I didn’t have the chills, and it went the same, only the output was more clear. I did the liquid diet for 24 hrs leading up to the first dose. As someone who usually gets terrible reactions, I had almost no side effects. It was NOT like drinking poison, as some have said. At least for me, it was easy."

For Bowel Preparation "I read all the reports and was really scared to take the medicine. I used a hair clip on my nose even to open the bottle. I diluted it with water that was naturally flavored with citrus. I still do not have any idea what it smells or tasted like. It was a lot of fluid, but it started working before I finished the first glass of the same sparkling water after the first dose. I had no nausea or anything but a little bloating. I did get slightly cold, especially my extremities. It's not fun not eating and getting up at 2 am for the second dose, but not that bad considering what cancer does and how radiation, chemo for a year, and surgery makes one feel. I know because my husband had colon cancer before he was fifty."

For Bowel Preparation "Used Suprep on April 17/18 for colonoscopy. This is my third prep, and I found it to be more effective and tolerable than Moviprep. I am petite and worried this prep would be overwhelming to use. I chilled the prep and used a straw and was able to drink in 5 minutes. No cramping or nausea. Most uncomfortable was drinking the additional 32 ounces of liquid. I started movement within 15 minutes. For 45 minutes, it was like a superhighway. Very effective. I finally had additional liquid 2 hours after I started prep. Like some of the other users, I experienced chills but only lasted for half an hour. I highly recommend users follow low residue diet instructions several days prior to prep, as this helped a lot. Eating a good diet and exercise has been helpful for me in tolerating my colonoscopies. Good luck!!"

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep is much better than the prep I used 6 years ago. At 6 pm, the first dose went down pretty easily. I chilled the prep in the fridge and added room temperature bottled water. Didn't want it too cold because I wanted to be able to chug it. The taste was not too bad. I drank 32 oz. water chaser within 2-3 minutes and felt pretty bloated, as expected after drinking a total of 48 oz. Within 30 minutes or so, I was 'taking the Browns to the Super Bowl.' Pretty steady for about 2 hours or so, then it tapers off. No nausea, no headache, however, I did have chills for about 1 hour. At 4 am, round two was harder to get down. Couldn't chug it like I did on the first round. It took probably 10 minutes, including the 32 oz. chaser. The second round kicks in quicker, 100% fluid. A colonoscopy is easy."

For Bowel Preparation "I used this for my first colonoscopy. The taste is salty, sweet, and bitter. I refrigerated the Suprep ahead of time and mixed it with cold water. I drank it through a straw, as recommended. It was very difficult for me to get down until I tried taking about 5 sips, then a swig of water, pause, and repeat. The chaser of water really helped! I took my first dose at 5 pm, and it took 30 minutes to drink. I experienced chills, but no real nausea. About 6 pm, I felt the urge and spent the next two+ hours in the bathroom. I took the second dose at 7 am. This one only took 15 minutes to get down and worked immediately. I made sure I had warm clothes on, and I didn’t have chills. An hour later, I was totally cleaned out. I didn’t mind drinking the 32 ounces of water. It helped to clear the taste. My procedure was a breeze. The worst part was drinking the Suprep. If they could figure out a way to improve the taste, a colonoscopy would be so much easier!"
