"Took at 9 a.m., hoping to move bowels the same day, after days of horrible constipation and bloating. MoM claims it works within 6 hours, but nothing happened. I took another dose at bedtime, still without any movement. The following morning, I have awful diarrhea. It's so bad it gave me an anal fissure, and I've been taking Imodium and putting on lidocaine to ease the pain. Ridiculous to go from one extreme to the other. Yes, I should not have taken a second dose, but thought it would be fine since it did not work at all after 14 hours, and supposedly, you can take this daily. I thought this would just quicken transit time, but no, it stayed in my gut, mushed everything to liquid, and gave me the worst diarrhea ever. Never taking again!"

"First time I took this (60 mL), I drank a full cup of water with it and then went and laid down with my heating pad and Netflix—within one episode of my show, I had to run to the bathroom. Then had watery diarrhea for the next two days. It definitely cleansed me. I took (30 mL) two more times, and nothing happened [without drinking water with it], and now just took 60 mL followed by a full glass of water, and instantly after, I was running upstairs to the bathroom, so while sitting here, I thought I’d write a review! This stuff is gentle and gets the job done without worry!"

"I am rarely constipated and am not sure what happened to cause it this time. I eat a good diet, drink plenty of fluids, walk, and take supplements, including magnesium, twice a day. My doctor recommended a stool softener, and it did not help. I tried a Fleet, which allowed some stool to come out but did not unblock. My doctor's office recommended the MOM, but I resisted because I was already taking magnesium supplements. I finally tried it. Nothing after 6 hours, so I took another dose but did not exceed the maximum. First attempt, nothing but bleeding from straining, and shortly later, the second attempt expelled a small amount from stool and again. Went to bed, and in the morning, I had an urge and went again, and my butt was in pain but some relief. Had my coffee, and minutes later ran to the bathroom and exploded. Not diarrhea, but the rest of what needed to come out. Not as bad on my butt either. Made a believer of me. Would advise to try 30ml first and repeat if it doesn’t work in 6 hours."

"I've been constipated for like 4 days, and this was my first time using a laxative. I used it exactly how the instructions said. I even took the smallest dose. One and a half hours later, and shitting out water every 10 minutes. I am in a living nightmare. Will not purchase again. 3 stars out of 10 for it doing its job, though."

"Diagnosed over a year ago with gluten intolerance. When I eat anything with gluten, I become bloated, and usually end up with awful diarrhea. The other night, I ate what was supposed to be a gluten-free sandwich; the cook screwed up. I expected the usual rush to the bathroom, except it didn't come. This time, I was so constipated my pants wouldn't fit. MOM has helped a bit. It took about 20 minutes before I ran to the bathroom. However, it has made me more gassy than anything; I'm scared to pass gas in case something else happens. My stomach and intestines sound like a warzone. It seems to help a bit, but has anyone else had the gas issue? Every time I go to the bathroom, very little comes out, but it always follows a burst of gas."

"I've had issues with constipation since October 2015. The doctor had me on Miralax daily until I got into the gastroenterologist in April. He gave me samples of Amitiza and told me to try it on the weekend. It was horrible cramps, gas, and bloating. So I went back to Miralax. Then my regular doctor suggested Milk of Magnesia. I took some before I went to bed last night, 7/4/16. I was awakened at 4:30 a.m. with pain worse than labor pains. I filled the toilet bowl with what looked like snack pack chocolate pudding. Terrible gas pains, stomach just knotting up and turning. I have my colonoscopy scheduled for 7/8/16. I hope the prep they gave me doesn't have the same effect on me. My stomach is still messed up 24 hours later."

"I was extremely constipated for a month, I took one laxative from my local grocery store, then I bought this laxative too. I drank two cups (120 mg), and I haven't been out of the bathroom since. My stomach has been gurgling, and now every time I go, it's all water. I have common symptoms, but what I do recommend is to take a small dosage every 6 to 8 hours. Otherwise, you will be in the bathroom constantly, it's a bad, uncomfortable feeling. Burning may occur from going. I've got a bath twice after going."

"Constipated for 7 days. I took Smooth Move tea, prune juice, Miralax, and then a mineral oil enema with no results to speak of. Took MOM 30 ml with 8+ ounces of water and 6 hrs later still nothing. I'm going to take another 30 ml now and pray for results...."

"So, I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out on Wednesday, July 12th, and I was completely under anesthesia in a surgical center. I was not able to move my bowels afterwards because of the anesthesia and medicine. It's 4:00 on Friday, the 14th. I took Milk of Magnesia at 3:30, and I am finally using the bathroom!! Highly recommend."

"This was my first time using Milk of Mag for 3-4 days of constipation. I took a small amount, 1 tablespoon, the 1st night (I only weigh 108 lbs) with no results. The next day I tried 1 1/2 tablespoons, also without any help for my 'problem.' That night I took 2 tablespoons, and oh boy, the next day I suffered! I finally went, but towards the end, it was mostly water, and my stomach cramped up like crazy every time. Not fun. I think I would only use this again if I was severely constipated. Good luck!"

"I was having trouble going potty and felt really bloated from not going, so I tried the mint Milk of Magnesia, and even though it took a day or two to work, I felt so much better. My stomach was making a bubbling noise, and I knew it was the start of something. Good warning for sure! I find taking it right before bed works the best!"

"I hadn't had a BM for 6 days, and I'm ALWAYS regular... ALWAYS! So I was in panic mode, so I called my doctor, and she said to take MoM and drink plenty of water, prune juice wouldn't hurt either. So I took 45 ml of MoM (the directions said I could take 30 ml-60 ml). Thank goodness I only took 45 ml because it only took 15 minutes, and I was on the toilet. It's been 11 hours, and my stomach has definitely calmed down, but I'm still hitting up the toilet here and there. I recommend this to anyone with constipation! No cramps either!"

"Thanks to opiates, I noticed I hadn’t poo’d in about 3 days. You start to feel super gross...almost as if you can feel your body reabsorb the toxins inside you...it’s the worst feeling ever. I felt a heaviness, couldn’t eat, couldn’t focus, just awful. Took a full cup of MoM. Drank 3 glasses of water (that’s the trick!). Barely made it to the restroom...sweet relief...but don’t expect to leave the house for a couple of hours. Just when you think you’re done, there’s more. I’ll take that over being constipated though. Feels nice to be completely empty. Highly recommend if you’re backed up for days. Drink lots of water...and don’t leave the house until you’re completely done. Best lax ever. No pain at all."

"I was very constipated for about 5 days, in pain and feeling sick. I went to a very small pharmacy, and MoM was the laxative they had. I took 65 mls at 11 pm, then went to bed. I woke up at 9 am with some stomach gurgling and nausea and nothing else. I woke up again at 11 am with some gas, which I passed, then right after felt an extreme urgency to use the washroom. I had diarrhea that was mostly water, and on my way back downstairs, I felt the same urgency and needed to be back on the toilet NOW. I went back for round 2. It is now 1 pm and I am still having diarrhea, always mostly water and has been explosive a few times. This product definitely does its job but has caused me to have diarrhea several times, and based on the stomach gurgling and gas, I do not expect it to end soon."

"I have been backed up for 3 days, and I am miserable. Took MoM yesterday, and nothing. Horrible cramping and lots of gurgling in my belly. Called off sick 2 days and am getting ready to take a second dose. Have no appetite at all. I pray this works..."

"I had a baby, and afterwards, was constipated for 9 days (even with daily stool softeners). On day 9, I got MoM. I did not take the max dose. I was able to have a bowel movement (what I believed to be 9 days' worth) within an hour. My baby is now 12 days old, and I still have constant diarrhea and can't eat without ending up on the toilet. I won't take this again."

"This worked well for me. I took the maximum dose and had a bowel movement about an hour later. Then several hours later, the floodgates opened. But better than the alternative, unable to go and painfully stopped up. I take a prescription diet medicine, and it severely dehydrates me. Sometimes I don't drink enough water."

"I have chronic constipation from IBS-C and gastroparesis. I’ve tried just about everything, be it laxatives and fiber, you name it. And it’s so hard to get me to go unless it’s coffee. Well, I decided to try this after being recommended it by a coworker and a doctor at the ER, so I did some research and decided to purchase some. It had been 2 weeks since I had a BM, so I tried it yesterday and, sad to say, it didn’t do anything for me. I still couldn’t go. All I had was intense nausea, so bad I almost threw up on the way to work, and I had weird gurgly noises from my stomach. It did it for hours, but I was still super constipated. I am very sad it didn’t work for me, 'cause I’ve read so many good things about it as well! I’m not gonna say I don’t recommend it, I just have a stubborn stomach, and most laxatives don’t work for me anyways."

"Take MOM every once in a while to cleanse, works like a charm every single time. This is easier on your tummy than Mag Citrate and works better, IMO. If you are backed up and reading this, go get some for some sweet relief!"

"I have constipation most of my life just due to slow metabolism and some meds. This is the only stuff that I will take right now. Stimulants can cause cramps, and others do not even work. My advice is to start with the lowest dose at first and see how you react up to 8 hrs. Then increase slowly! It essentially will give you a watery bowel motion several times. If too watery, you can end up having an accident. Don’t use this and go to work or anything important! Good luck!"

"I will never take this again! I had been constipated for about 3 days. It was horrible. I was in so much pain. I decided I needed something to help. I've never taken a laxative before, but I've read that MOM is supposed to be gentle. I took it at about 10 PM. At 11:30 PM, I was in the bathroom with explosive diarrhea! It's been over 24 hours, and I still have diarrhea and feel disgusting. Thank goodness I don't work on the weekends, or I would have to call out! I do not recommend!"

"After surgery two weeks ago and consuming nothing but water and fiber-type foods. I, for some reason, got constipated. I took MoM at 8 PM. And at 2 AM, like clockwork, I was getting crazy cramps and could hear the bowel in motion. And bam, I had to go. But then at 3 AM and 4 AM again. Then at 7 AM. Either I'm that backed up or it's working too well."

"I was taking pain medication because of a tonsillectomy and hadn't had any bowel movements in 5 nights. I took 6 teaspoons on the 5th night and went to sleep with nothing. In the morning, I then drank some water and had another 6 teaspoons. After waiting 1 hour, it promptly started clearing my bowels. I haven't pooped myself like many others."

"Ok, so my body decided to pass one kidney stone from each kidney. One surgery and hospital stay with narcotic pain meds, and I was severely constipated. I tried fiber, prune juice, and stimulant laxative. Nothing. I was so bloated that I looked pregnant and was miserable. I happened upon a commercial for M.O.M., and sent my hubby to the store. I took the maximum dosage, and within 2 hours, had sweet relief."

"For some people, Milk of Magnesia is a hit or miss thing. For me, it's kind of in the middle. I have a hard impacted stool that won't come out for about two weeks now. I took Milk of Magnesia at the beginning of the second week, and let me just tell you I've never had such watery stool. So why is it not a hit for me? Well, because it doesn't soften the impacted stool. I think it only softens the newer stool, which goes around the impacted stool because after the watery stool is out, when I try to strain, I could still feel the hardened stool stuck there. Though I am thankful the newer stool comes out instead of builds up behind the impacted stool, so I really can't complain. Other than that, it's a really great product, no side effects or anything. Drink lots of water, preferably room-temperature water because it stimulates the digestive system more than cold water. Oh, and also, it's only for temporary constipation, I wouldn't use it for more than a week, but ask your doctor first."
