For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Started taking L-Lysine supplement daily about a year ago (after checking with my primary care that he had no issue with my doing so). No herpes outbreaks. Stopped couple months ago, and lo and behold, currently have an outbreak. So much for my theory that maybe I did not need to take them anymore. Experiment conducted; epic fail; back to daily supplements. I use acyclovir for actual outbreaks, just as an aside."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I literally just found out today with HSV 1 (oral). I have never had a cold sore. So I was shocked when the Dr told me. I have a friend who had been diagnosed many years ago and remember her telling me she took Lysine. I am going to start taking it as well to hopefully avoid ever having an outbreak. For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I used to get cold sores about every two to three months. The receptionist at the dermatologist office (not the dermatologist) told me that lysine stopped her husband's cold sores and insisted I try it. Not having much faith in supplements, but out of desperation, I started taking it daily. It completely stopped them from occurring. I was surprised and happy. I took lysine for about a year or two and then stopped. The effect lasted for about 9 months to a year and now I get an occasional one, which I try to treat with topical lysine. I believe all our bodies are different. What works for one person may not work for another."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "64 years old, have occasionally had cold sore on the right corner of my mouth, once on my right nostril, my wife has had it since she's a child, also on her lips, neither one of us gets it on our genitals. Starting to take L-Lysine 1000mg a day and have still had a few outbreaks but they have been less severe, when they occur I am also taking a prescription of Valtrex. When I have the outbreak I am increasing the L-Lysine dose to 1000mg in the morning and the same at night. One of the side effects is good skin! I had a few bumps on my face that seem to be clearing up or going away. I wish I would have known about L-Lysine when I was a kid because it could be good for acne."

For Herpes Simplex "I've herpes for about 3 years now. Have been having more obs the last few years, up to 2 OBs per month. Tried lots, eating really well, exercising regularly, stress relief etc. Nothing was helping much. Now I take 500mg of lysine first thing in the morning and 500mg before bed. Not had an OB for 60 days! That is amazing for me. No groin pain either. This stuff rocks! Get on it! I also drink turmeric tea regularly which I think helps with the groin pain (by reducing inflammation and being good for your immune system). 95% of credit goes to lysine though!"

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I started taking 1000 mg daily 9 months ago due to occassional outbreaks and have not had once since until today. I took a collagen supplement that warned an outbreak could occur. I am going to take 3 today and hopefully it wil suppress it."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "just got diagnosed with HSV1, and reading this actually made me feel like crawling and crying like a baby. The outbreak I have right now is genital and in my throat and mouth, I talked to the doctor who did the blood test on me and said over time that it would eventually get much better. She said that what I%u2019m having is a massive outbreak and is unusual, but that it may be due to the fact that I stressed myself out over it so much. For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Having had the Herpesvirus all my life. Its a viral nightmare. Most people experience it in their their lips. I'm one of the few (lucky ones) that experiences it in both ways, in my lips and my eyes. Its not nice.....but people need to understand the causation. Late nights. STRESS (unconscious stress), poor diet/ too much booze. For the "lucky" ones who experience it in their eyes ...I would say STRESS, STRESS, STRESS. is It again. For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "My dentist told me about this and the second I felt the oncoming of a cold sore I started taking 1000mg of l-lysine. It did not get anywhere near as bad as they usually do and was healed up rather quickly. I will always have it as my go to."

For Herpes Simplex "I've had cold sores since I was a child. It's embarrassing and ghastly to look at. I'm now 32 and I've figured out the best remedies to prevent or speed up healing time. The #1 best medication is L-lysine. I take 1000 mg capsules (Nature's Bounty) at the first sign of an itch, tingle or irritation. I take no chances! Since taking L-lysine I haven't had one form yet. Dry lips on windy days, runny nose and stress are my triggers. #2 is Ice. Freezing it prevents the blisters from forming. The virus thrives in warm, moist areas. Use #3 Rubbing Alcohol w/ ice to dry out sore. For those naturopaths, #4 Turmeric is great in stopping blisters from spreading. It's a natural anti-inflammatory and the virus is unable to thrive. For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I took this first day of outbreak along with Coconut Supplement, Green superfoods Powder from GNC. My outbreak immediately began to heal. Increase the healing time by 50%. I also used a Cool Setting on blow dryer on the sore on my face to dry out the pus. Did this about 2 minutes 5 times a day to help make the sore heal faster. Not recommended to put anything directly on the store because it will just irritate it more. Better to win the battle from the inside."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Works incredibly well as prevention with 1g per day for oral herpes, then during occasional (and I mean years between last and current) up to 4g, and it disappears inside of a week. I managed to transfer my cold sore the genital area and IT doesn't work as well there, but still aids an outbreak that can often take weeks to disperse. Get the bulk powder, instead of tablets. The cost is greatly reduced, and you need only mix it with a splash of juice to drink it."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I have had 4-6 outbreaks a year with cold sores since age 3. Noted in old school and family photos. The invention of Valtrex was great for about 10 years then nothing! Didn't matter if used brand name or generic. Increased the lysine as a preventive to 1000 mg per day. Take extra if eat arginine foods like chocolate/peanut butter. Eventually started Gigartina species of red algae. Superb. IF I get a sore, it is miniscule single bump. Take it hours apart from the lysine to not interfere. The Gigartina works like the Valtrex used to. It is much cheaper than Valtrex and no resistance (yet). Can find better price and pure product with search. Take 1-2 extra when feel outbreak, just like lysine."

For Herbal Supplementation "I was diagnosed with GAD and chose not to undergo drug therapy, so I tried a dozen supplements before settling on lysine. I find that it is absolutely great for relieving chronic stress and anxiety. Dose is about 1000 mg before bed (more restful sleep) and 500-1000 during the day as needed. Effect last 5-6 hours. No slowing/dulling effect like with passionflower or kava, or rebound/unstable anxiety like St John's Wort or skullcap. Mind is sharp and free of inner tension. No side effects and no interaction with drugs (I take seroquel for sleep). Also very cheap!"

For Herpes Simplex "One day I got a severe headache..it lasted for 3 full days. I was tired could barely move pain all over.I developed a rash almost like chaffing on my inner thighs next to my lady parts. I knew it was herpes so I went and got tested and sure enough it was positive for simplex 2. Being 25 and only having two partners really narrowed down where I got I from. I am still with the person who gave it to me. Any who. I was prescribed generic valtrex acyclovir it cleared up the rash in about a week.. For Herpes Simplex "I've gotten cold sores since I was young. It's a common thing among a lot of people, but it happens to me normally once a year around winter. My lips end up drying out and when they get chapped that's when a cold sore ends up forming. I am not completely sure why, but whatever makes it lay dormant gets aggravated. I actually went to a local drug store to get a cold sore treatment when I found Lysine. Unfortunately, I didn't catch it in time but it took the pain and itching away almost immediately. It's shortened the amount of time it would normally take a cold sore to heal when the blisters have already formed. It's better than the other products I have used, and a lot more efficient."

For Herpes Simplex "At the 1st sign of a cold sore ( itchy bump ) I take 2000mg a day until it’s gone, 2 days max) then 1 a day for a week. I’ve had cold sores for as long as I can remember, since my toddler yrs, and as an adult, 3-4 times a yr I would get a cold sore that went up into my nasal cavity and cover my upper lip, creating a sore that would crack and bleed. Over time, they would eventually go away but it was an awfully painful experience to endure.
