Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "FYI there is lot of you out there expecting Caplyta to start working to relieve your symptoms on day one when the pharma corpos clearly state on their websites that Caplyta begins to work after two weeks but doesn't reach full strength until after six weeks of taking Caplyta. Side effects may start up at any day, even on day one and I can really suck so call your doctor rather than wait and a see if it all fixes itself. I'm on Calypta which worked well for me, it changed my life and even saved it as I almost committed suicide before I was stopped by my wife who talked me out of . I decided to give meds a try as a last resort . One last tray . The Calypta, Lithium and Lamictal greatly improved my bipolar symptoms as the weeks went by and eventually they vanished along with my suicidal urges. My marriage was saved as all of chaos I caused during my episodes were now just memories of a previous life 1.5y ago"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "I started on this medication a week ago for Bipolar. I was worried after reading all the bad reviews but decided to try it because my doctor always has samples so it’s free and I’ve been off all meds for six months and things eventually got bad like they always do. Also I don’t normally have side effects from medicines except for lithium. First night, very sleepy but surprisingly not as bad as other antipsychotics and I’ve been on several over the years. Within a few days I felt the paranoia and delusional thinking subsiding. I’m much more calm feeling. I want to do things again. I also started Wellbutrin XR. I hope things continue to improve over the next several weeks."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Took this on day one for Bipolar 2 and 2 hours later I felt like I had icy hot all over my body. Then I felt lethargic to the point I had slurred speech and I could barely move without help. I had very dry mouth and excessive thirst. The severe headache started so I took a nap for about an hour. I woke up with neck pain connecting to the back of head, nausea and vomiting. A 2 hour shower eased the headache very little but it continued along with the nausea until the following day. Also, on the following day I had dark urination. I was advised to discontinue medication."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Took Caplyta for the first time and only time 2 days ago. I am also on lamotrigine 400 mg and Lexapro 15 mg. The next morning I could barely open my eyes that’s how drugged up I felt. I felt dizzy, foggy, nauseous, and confused. I had one of the worst headaches I have ever experienced. My husband had to come home from work that morning because I literally could not function and take care of our 9 month old. I slept all day but the headache got worse. I did not take it last night and I am still having horrible side effects. I couldn’t go to work because I still feel very foggy. My insides feel like they are burning. I either need to explosively vomit or go to the bathroom but can’t do either. I still have a severe headache and my pee is also unusually dark. I’m so bummed. I had high hopes for this med but I have never reacted to a medication like this in the last 14 years of being on meds."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "My doctor recommended Caplyta 10mg. I have been taking it for two weeks and can barely get out of bed. My hands and feet keep falling asleep, but I can't find that as a side effect anywhere. It's supposed to help with depression, but I feel worse. I keep thinking of sad things and crying which is weird for me. I'm hot all the time which is fine for winter but won't be in a few months. This one is not for me. It reminds me of Seroquel without the munchies. The doctor really hyped this one, but I just don't see the appeal."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I took Caplyta for almost a year. I had pain all over my body, I could hardly move my neck. When I finally stopped the medication, I had no pain in about 2 weeks. I have taken a lot of drugs for my condition, but this was by far the worst. Personally, I think it is a very dangerous medication. I really thought it would kill me!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "My 30 year old daughter is Schizoeffective and took this medicine for a month. It seems to have caused uncontrollable laughter and didn’t seem to work very well. So, glad she isn’t still taking it. She is still laughing and not doing well, but it has only been a week. Hate for her to go back into the hospital during a pandemic."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Hang in there and give it at least 3 days. After the 3rd day, for me, I felt less or no side effects at all. I’ve been taking caplyta for 2 months and I am very pleased with this. I’ve tried various doses of many other various drugs but this is great stuff. I’m happier, I’m laughing. I’m productive. Stick it out before calling it quits after that first dose."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I was prescribed Caplyta by my psychiatrist. I also have taken Wellbutrin and Lamictal for years. The first day I took it I thought I was going to die. My neck was burning hot (but on the inside). Then it radiated up to the lower part of my head, then I could feel the heat radiating down my spine. It felt like a hot poker. My feet swelled up as did my left hand and face. I could barely type a text to my husband for help. I vomited for about 8 hours and couldn’t hold down even a sip of water as my mouth was so dry. My fever was normal but my insides were on fire. My husband called the late night nurse and she said “sounds like an allergic reaction so give her a Benadryl”. I was pretty skeptical so I took a Xanax too to help relax (which she approved to do). I’m still feeling the horrible “wobbly”effects two days later. I would NEVER have taken this knowing what I would have to endure."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Caplyta has made me feel nothing but anger, annoyance, and frustration. I haven’t felt a single positive emotion since starting it. It’s not even a listed side effect. It has made me so angry, so constantly, that I cry every day out of pure anger. Constant, uncontrolled anger every day. No other emotions."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I have only taken this medication for one night and I'm never taking it again. My body felt like it was on fire, my head was pounding, when I got up, I felt as if I was gonna faint, I was so nauseous and the next morning I felt so confused and dizzy. I had to sit down in the shower because I thought I was gonna pass out and I slept all day because my brain was so foggy."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I am ecstatic with Caplyta. I think it is the best medication I've been tried over the years. It's effective and no sexual side effects. - 53-year-old male on anti-psychotics, mood stabilizers, and/or anti-depressants since 1991. - Effective against depression and psychosis at 42mg. Tried to reduce 42mg dose to reduce too much energy and return of psychosis resulted. - Before All Medications: Lethargic, severely depressed. With Caplyta: Energized, alert, clear-thinking, good mood. - Somewhat overly energized and Initial sleep disruption managed with gabapentin (300mg x3), Buspar (30mg x3), Ativan, and 200mg L-Theanine at bedtime. - Minimal side effects: No sexual issues (common with other antipsychotics), no appetite increase or weight gain, no akathisia. - Initial minor side effects: Dry mouth, stuffy nose, mild constipation, slight fatigue - all resolved quickly. - Only effective antidepressants since age 17: Lamictal, abilify, and Caplyta."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "I'm on this for Bipolar 1 & Schizoaffective Disorder. The only downside I can say about this drug is that it has caused Prolactin to go very high. I just got my levels back and it was 95. Normal levels are 4-23. This medication has caused galactorrhea (milk production) So a word of caution to anyone trying out this drug, it is new and has only been around for a year and even does mention right on the site that it has caused Prolactin increases. So please watch out for this and get checked for it if you think it may be an issue. Even if you are not actively leaking, if you check, there may be lactation. Please be aware, and I hope this helps someone."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "This medicine caused problems with temperature regulation for sure and flu like symptoms. My nose would get so stuffy I could barely breathe even after taking allergy meds. I also got a severe burning sensation in my arms and legs while feeling cold at the same time. I’d have my heat on 75 with a space heater and electric blanket and still feel cold but my skin felt like it was being burned inside out"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I have tried multiple medications for bipolar disorder over the past 24 years. Caplyta is the clear winner. I am euthymic for the first time in years. I feel hopeful again and do not fear depression. I have lived with such anxiety that I will relapse into major depression, but not while I'm taking Caplyta. My family and friends comment on how much I've changed and how positive I seem. This has been life-changing for all of us. The only side effect I have experienced is feeling a bit of dizziness, but this is manageable."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "I had a stomach ache for 4 weeks after I started Caplyta. I had dry mouth so bad I had open sores in my mouth and on my tongue. I was also extremely tired all the time. I had to spend a lot of time in bed. Worst of all it didn't work for my schizophrenia. I developed paranoid thoughts. I discontinued it and went back on Olanzapine and felt better in about three days. Caplyta was not a good drug for me. I was hoping it would be. I am disappointed."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "I have bipolar schizoaffective disorder. I've been on dozens of antipsychotics, including old school ones like Haloperidol. I was beginning to lose hope of ever getting relief until my psychiatrist put me on Caplyta! It doesn't do much for my bipolar symptoms, but has been immensely helpful with my schizophrenia symptoms. My voices have diminished almost entirely. I'm rarely paranoid, and I've had just a few short-lived delusions since starting the medication six months ago!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "Caplyta was the most normal feeling treatment I have ever taken. The only problem is that I am very treatment resistant, so after about a month it quit working. It would work if I would triple the dosage but you’re not supposed to do that lol. I don’t know what to do anymore, the only treatments I haven’t tried yet are the ones that make you sleep twelve hours a day."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "I was only on Caplyta for two days, and it’s the worst medication I’ve ever tried. The side effects were absolutely awful -I had insane dry mouth -I was so lightheaded that I felt like I was going to fall every time I stood up -I was nauseous and incredibly anxious, to the point where I had anxiety attacks that lasted up to 4 hours -I couldn’t regulate my body temperature, so I was burning hot and freezing at the same time -Within the 2 days, the voices became a lot worse and it was very overwhelming It was an absolute nightmare and honestly borderline traumatic for me. If you’re sensitive to medication, I wouldn’t take Caplyta."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I have Bipolar 2 and started this for depression. I took the first dose of Caplyta last night, about 24 hours ago now. It was terrible. About 45 minutes in I felt my feet burning and then the burning crept to my torso and back. It was burning so badly that I started looking for blisters! I could not rest as my skin was so inflamed. I was also freezing. I had a comforter and a blanket over me and it’s 74 degrees in my house. By morning I was so groggy and dizzy. The burning finally eased up by mid morning but even now I can still feel a bit of a burn on my arms and hands. I tell you this is a dangerous drug. I will not take another dose, and like someone else said on here, the experience has made me nervous to try other meds."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "Well I was previously on a combination of vraylar and risperdal but I changed the vraylar to caplyta because vraylar was causing weight gain. So far on caplyta I have experienced little to no side effects and I’ve lost 3 lbs within my first month of taking the drug. One thing I’ve noticed though is that I haven’t been getting my period. Not sure if it’s because of the Caplyta or not but I’m not complaining lol"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I only needed to take it once 10.5 mg to know I'd never take it again. Within an hour I was passed out completely and don't remember getting to the bed. Woke up after 4 hours and started having hope for it as I was feeling something shifting, more balanced if you will. Well then came the major headache everyone is talking about, then the burning from the inside out, unable to regulate body temperature, wobbly. Still was wobbly for a couple of days and my nose was so stuffy the next day. I really had hope. Try it for yourself but I would definitely recommend the lowest dose of 10.5 mg."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I've been struggling with my mental health for my entire lifetime. Thirty now, and let me tell you it’s a GAME CHANGER. I have always struggled with alcohol. I used it to cope. I would be impulsive, angry, ruin relationships with friends and family. Sleeping all the time, everyday tasks just felt like a huge marathon and exhausting. It was a fight every single day. In my teenage years, I was making decisions that had negative impacts on my future. I was always feeling held back and empty. I was prescribed this about a year ago. At first, it was a little brutal as far as the drowsiness and my headaches were bad. After about a month of sticking with it… I'm now 9 months sober, my job and work ethic have improved so much. The relationships I have with my friends and family are so much better. I'm no longer angry or have any bad thoughts. I'm way more confident in myself. My health habits are much better. Every single aspect of my life has improved. I feel free. 20/10 recommend."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I was prescribed Caplyta 42mg for Bipolar 1 in a mixed state 10 months ago. The first two weeks involved the side effects of other reviews: POUNDING headaches, nausea, severe confusion, and dry mouth. Within the first three days my depression seemed all but canceled out; it took about a week for the mania to subside. I would say that it definitely does the job effectively. I would like to mention though that no other AP has had such a profoundly weird effect on my psyche. From day 1, it seemed to create an uncanny brain fog so thick that it became very difficult to engage externally, but it enabled CRYSTAL clear internal thinking. This was great for therapy, but also intense rumination! My focus and working memory fell under that 'external' part and became so poor that I'm now tapering away in favor of Latuda. Definitely check in with yourself if you try this one out! Despite the inner turmoil, it made me present normally with limited influence on my affect, so only I could see the issue."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Possibly the worst I have ever felt from just one use. First I thought I was being paranoid but like 20 minutes after taking it my arms felt like they were on fire. And then I threw up and then my feet started burning but I was freezing and instantly felt high. It was an extreme high. I then got my mom to come get me because i couldn’t walk from being dizzy and I kept falling. She took me to her house and I instantly had one of the worst headaches I have ever felt in my entire life and started throwing up. Then I checked my temp and my fever was 100 and my heart rate wouldn’t go down and my oxygen level was 93. My feet and hands got swollen too. And I instantly started going in and out of consciousness. I ended up taking a nap and I couldn’t stop sweating with chills and when my bf picked me up he said I kept passing out. i woke up this morning still sick andI went to the doctor this to change my meds."
