For ADHD "I struggled with manic depression, PTSD, minor bipolar, and ADHD since I was around 6 years old. Long story short, I had drug-addict parents, was kidnapped and raped at 11 years old for 3 years, got pregnant at 16, lived with friends of family until 18, and graduated at 20 years old. I have 4 wonderful kids, but my life is a constant struggle of mood swings, flashbacks, etc. My doctor gave me the 40mg dose to start, and besides a few minor side effects (higher anxiety on and off for the 1st week, lessened appetite), I have not felt this happy since my kids' births. My older kids have noticed my home is cleaner, I'm up earlier in the mornings, I can stay on one train of thought before moving on to another, and my younger kids are happy that their mother can play with them without running off to the bathroom after 10 minutes because I couldn't stop crying. No medication can change you 100% of the time. I still have some off days but far and very few between."

For ADHD "My son, who is nine, was just started on Vyvanse for ADD. He was not hyperactive, just couldn't focus. We struggled with it from preschool to third grade. Held him back in first grade, which helped a little. Then third grade almost killed him. Medications were my last resort. Scared me to death to put him on medicines, but it made a 100% difference. The teacher said it was like a fog lifted. I'm like, wow. Decreased appetite is the only side effect, but not bad."

For Binge Eating Disorder "I started on Vyvanse for BED in Oct. 2018. It gave me lots of energy & loss of appetite & increased my libido! Started on 30 mg & now increased to 70 mg. It's now July 2019 & still on it & was weighing 177 before I started & now weigh 130. Went from size 10 to size 4. I know my dr. will be taking me off of it when I run out. Just hoping my appetite doesn't come back."

For Binge Eating Disorder "I am on my 3rd week - first two at 20 mg and now upped to 40. Should be at 60 (max) after the next follow up with my doctor at the end of week 4. I'm 45 and have struggled since the age of 8 with weight and depression. I get by - it's like I'm a high functioning depressed person who works her ass off to try and be healthy and happy. I was tired and broken when my doctor suggested this drug. Her daughter has similar issues so obviously it's personal for her too to understand people with these issues. My experience has been great - I don't feel the urge to binge and my appetite is suppressed. I feel hungry when I should and don't overeat. I love the feeling of being alert. I work hard and these meds have helped me immensely."

For ADHD "I started taking this pill and immediately noticed the difference. My life literally changed the moment I took the first pill. While I suffered from uncontrollable speech the first 2 days, but my body adjusted. I started with 50mg, and I now take 70mg. I am 23 years old. Some other side effects I have experienced are decreased libido, loss of weight, and appetite. However, I can concentrate on anything. This pill has taken the characteristic of lazy out of me. I am more productive than ever."

For Binge Eating Disorder "I've been on Vyvanse for almost 2 years now for both binge eating & ADD. I started on 10mg and am now at 60mg. At first, the 10mg worked great. That lasted about 2 months before I saw both my BED and ADD symptoms coming back. Increased to 20mg which lasted about 2 months, the 30mg lasted about 3 months, 40mg worked for 4 months (you get the picture). This was very worrisome for me, because it felt like, at the maximum dosage, it might eventually not work at all. I'm on 60mg now, and have been for the past 5 months, and I finally feel that I'm at a dosage that makes binge eating truly manageable (I no longer have any issues with ADD while the medication is working). So if you're on 20-40mg of Vyvanse and it isn't working, increase the dosage. The 60mg somehow made a huge difference. My psych also added 100mg Wellbutrin SR and that has been a life changer. The two medicines together completely curb my appetite (and the bonus is the Wellbutrin covers both my depression & anxiety as well)."

For ADHD "I'm already a thin male. I'm normally 6'1" and about 145. I've always been a really thin guy, 'bean pole' is what I get a lot or 'dipstick,' lol. Now it's gotten even worse with Vyvanse. In about 3 weeks, I've lost about 10 pounds. I'm currently 135 lb and still dropping. I don't eat nearly enough and work really hard, plus I golf a lot in the heat. I don't necessarily feel sick, I just have zero desire to ever eat. Eating seems like a task and a chore now rather than a treat and something I enjoy. It's the ONLY negative with this medication for me. I'm going to start a weight gain shake and begin counting calories to see if that helps me go back to my normal weight."

For ADHD "42-year-old male recently diagnosed with ADD (no hyperactivity). Vyvanse is the only medication I've tried and I'm reasonably happy with it. Started 30 mg for 2 weeks. Felt a little jittery and had a funny taste in my mouth. Increased to 70 mg. No longer feel jittery, no funny taste, but my mouth is always dry so I drink a lot of water. Vyvanse seems to help me get more done. I can't say I'm more focused, but I am more motivated, so the end result is more productivity, though not always directed in the best place. It decreased my appetite, so it was easier to switch to a healthier diet. Lost more than 25 lbs. in the first 3 months, which has also helped increase self-esteem, motivation, and energy level."

For Binge Eating Disorder "So I started this Vyvanse for my ADD, and I was trying to lose weight at the time too. Once I first started taking it, I saw an improvement. Before meds at all, I was 184 lb, when I first began Vyvanse, I was 150. Four months later, I am 127. I barely have an appetite, but I always do late at night, I guess when it wears off."

For ADHD "I have been a mental health counselor for 37 years and have worked with ADHD for 25. Of all the medications, Vyvanse is the best. It is important to start low, 20 mg, and then increase based on focus, concentration, and mid-afternoon agitation. Expect very few side effects. Slight appetite loss but manageable. Very important to take it at 7 am every day. May want to hold off on weekends unless there is a need to focus for study. Consider counseling to help stay on track and educate clients and families regarding the fact that ADHD is a gift of creativity and out-of-the-box thinking."

For ADHD "I was on Adderall for years until the highest dosage stopped working for me. When I switched to Vyvanse, I wasn't sure what effects I should be looking for. Was it supposed to be like Adderall? No. Unlike Adderall, which gives you tunnel vision to complete one task at a time, Vyvanse allows you to focus on multiple tasks. You're not wired and cleaning out your closet 10 times a day, it's more like you're normalized - the way that you should be. As far as appetite goes, it comes and it goes."

For ADHD "Both my daughter and I take Vyvanse for ADD/ADHD. It has helped us significantly. My daughter initially tried Biphentin, but it did not help her symptoms and caused her not to eat or sleep. With Vyvanse, there is a dramatic improvement of her symptoms and less side effects. It just suppresses her appetite. We take her off occasionally to help her appetite and have also tried a short-acting formulation that she takes after breakfast and again after lunch so her appetite isn’t as affected. I experience very good results on Vyvanse as well (and don’t mind curbing my appetite slightly)."

For ADHD "I have been taking Vyvanse for just a week. 40mg. The first 3 days, I couldn't sit down. I cleaned my house and my parents'. Not just cleaned, but extra clean, like walls and moving furniture and everything. But now it has faded a little. I noticed right away that when I am doing stuff, it's like I really concentrate and strive for perfection in everything. My appetite has been curbed, but I still eat. But nowhere like I did before. So far, I've lost 4 pounds. It's been almost a week. I don't get any feelings of jitters, or that I'm taking speed. I feel normal, I just want to do stuff. I'm more social. I always stayed in my home, but now I just want to go out. It's a very nice feeling. I have no problems sleeping either, but I also take it as soon as I wake up."

For ADHD "I have been taking Vyvanse 30 mg for 2 weeks for adult ADHD. It has been very helpful for me to stay on task at work and get things done that normally I would have a hard time with. I used to get very overwhelmed with what needed to be done and completely shut down, not getting anything done at all! Then I would beat myself up for being a procrastinator, etc. I have not had any issues with insomnia or any other side effects, besides the normal appetite suppression during the day, which has resulted in an 8 lb weight loss in 2 weeks. No complaints here as I need to lose about 20. I recommend not drinking more than 1 or 2 cups of coffee while taking this. I did once and was jacked up. Not a good feeling. I highly recommend taking this if you are having attention deficit."

For ADHD "I am 16 and I started using Vyvanse a little over one month ago. I am a very bright student, but I found myself struggling through school. I was diagnosed with ADD around 4th grade. I have always had trouble focusing and staying on task. I tried Concerta, Ritalin, Strattera, and Adderall. After taking those, I took about a 4-year break from medicine. I began Wellbutrin and am now taking that in combination with Vyvanse. My grades improved tremendously. I can now focus and it shows. I went from a D in Algebra/Geo to an A. My life and confidence have improved more than I ever thought possible. I do have decreased appetite, but other than that, this medicine is literally making my future brighter every day."

For ADHD "My 9-year-old son started taking this medicine 1 month ago. He was on Medadate CD for 3 years before this. It has been wonderful so far. His grades, homework time, handwriting, behavior, and overall outlook on things have changed for the better. The side effects are no appetite and trouble settling down at night, but they are getting better. My only advice is to feed them a very good breakfast before giving the medicine and have a good meal waiting when they come off."

For ADHD "First I want to say that everyone is different and not everyone reacts the same to medication. I started with Concerta, it didn't work for me at all. I didn't feel like myself, it took over my personality, and I started to have heavy anxiety, panic attacks, antisocial behavior, and paranoia. Then I got Vyvanse, and it's life-changing. It doesn't feel like I'm on a prescription. It's more a tool that helps me get through everyday life. I'm much calmer, I can concentrate on one thing at a time. I get so much more done, and I feel like I'm at peace with my mind. My patience has improved, I'm less impulsive, and I can sit for a long time straight without feeling bubbly or restless. Side effects: dry mouth, no appetite. But eat and eat smart, it gets back."

For Binge Eating Disorder "I have been taking Vyvanse for about 5 months now. I am also currently a college student. Please understand that this is not a weight loss medication, although for me it has made me lose just a few pounds and maintain that. It makes me work harder, stay awake, and I lose my appetite. For me, I eat a large breakfast before taking it because it’s usually the only meal I eat until dinner. I don’t binge while on the medication. I am recovering from bulimia and binge eating disorder. My doctor recommended I take this while also having weekly or bi-weekly therapy sessions. I haven’t been going to therapy and only take the pill 4-5 times a week unless other things come up. Right now, I’ve been a couple of days without Vyvanse and I’m already starting to binge again. So for me, it 100% works while I’m on the pill, but when I’m not, I sometimes go back to how I was before. Overall, I can almost say it’s helped me the most."

For ADHD "I am 20 years old. Dose 30 mg. Taking this medication for mood improvement (depression) and focus (ADD). Since starting: much more organized thought process, improved ability to communicate with others socially and keep a conversation going. Have been told by others that they notice a significantly positive change in my ability in social settings and in my affect. Intense focus in any activity I take part in. Significant increase in productivity and a major reduction of my depression symptoms. I am happier and more confident. Not easily bored anymore. Motivation levels have increased greatly, and I actually feel like doing my hobbies again (I had completely lost interest in them for a long time). Very suppressed appetite. Can get so focused on an activity that I will forget to eat all day. Must force self to eat. Weight loss. Teeth clenching. Tense jaw muscles. Thirst. Overall positive experience with this drug so far."

For ADHD "LOVE IT. I took Strattera for 4 years but switched because of terrible nausea and anxiety. The first 3 months I had terrible migraines, lack of appetite, and trouble sleeping. Keep taking it daily to give my body time to adjust. No side effects now and a huge, HUGE improvement in work, concentration, and motivation."

For ADHD "I have been on Vyvanse for 2 months now and started at 30 mg. That did nothing at all. Then I upped it to 40 mg. I have headaches constantly, no appetite, and constant mood swings. I'll go from happy to crying to just plain mean within minutes. If I'm not having mood swings, then I'm pretty much emotionless. I also have manic depression and a severe anxiety disorder. Vyvanse has done nothing but make my depression and anxiety worse, and now it's causing marital problems."

For ADHD "The first time I took a 30mg dose of Vyvanse, I felt really good in the morning, but in the afternoon I got really sick and vomited 7 times. I took a week off from taking it and took 15mg the next time. At 15mg, I didn’t feel any better mentally, but no side effects other than loss of appetite. Eventually, I moved up to 50mg a day, and it has been very helpful for my depression, especially in the morning. I feel a lot more hopeful, motivated, and focused when I take the Vyvanse, it really helps me at work."

For ADHD "I have been taking Vyvanse on and off for a little over 2 years. I am currently taking 70 mg. It really helps me focus and multi-task at work. It also has helped with my anxiety, and I am able to tackle things that normally I would try to stay away from doing because of my anxiety. I usually take it during the weekdays and not take it on the weekends because I can go 10 to 12 hours without eating and barely having anything to drink because my appetite is not there. I've lost 95 pounds since taking Vyvanse. It also has made my libido go through the roof. There's an upside and downside to the medication. Overall, it has helped more than it has hurt, but there are negatives and positives."

For ADHD "I'm 19 years old, 4'11, small-framed, and I weigh 85 pounds. I didn't notice a great change in weight when I stopped it for one whole summer when I was 11. I just gained 4 more pounds. Nonetheless, I'm not underweight, bulimic, or anorexic. I've always been thin and petite. I'm on 60 mg of Vyvanse for ADHD currently, but I've been prescribed it for a while. What can I say about this medicine? It's great! Yes, it suppresses the appetite a little, and sometimes I have to force myself to eat. This medication doesn't alter my personality, oddly, like Adderall. I'm still me, just more focused. My only complaint is that it mostly wears off in the evening when I need focus. I'm a singer too, so dry mouth is a side effect that I could do without."

For ADHD "At first, while taking this medication, the side effects I experienced included increases in heart rate (which made me feel a bit lightheaded and weak) and stomach discomforts (making me less hungry throughout my day). These are things you will experience with anxiety, which is something I dealt with growing up and wasn't much of a concern for me while on the medication, but something to note for people looking to use Vyvanse for the first time. You will notice an increase in motivation! Taking this medication was more helpful than my antidepressants were in the sense that it made me feel so much more motivated to do everyday activities. If you're concerned about the effects this medication will have on your weight, know that you will have a loss in appetite and experience weight loss. Before taking Vyvanse, my weight was at 125 lbs. After a few months, I dropped to 110 lbs. When I took a break from using this medication for focus and motivation, my weight went back to 123 lbs. Thanks for reading!"
