"I had taken Vyvanse as a kid, worked great for a bit, then it just stopped working years later, so I stopped taking it. My grades went down to being bad in 10th grade. I tried it again because I was failing classes because I could never stay focused. I took it again, and immediately my grades became better, and I finished off the year amazingly. The year after, it wasn't as effective, but I also started taking AP at the time, but I could feel myself getting more sidetracked. I had a girlfriend at the time. Vyvanse changed my personality a lot. I wouldn't have much emotion if it wasn't related to what I was doing and started to get in fights with my girlfriend and fights with my parents. With my girlfriend, I was obsessed with sex, being right, and in general, I would just be angry all the time. It would hit its peak when the crash would happen later. Eventually, she left me, and I fell apart and stopped taking it so I wouldn't hurt anyone. To this day, since I stopped taking it, I'm not happy."

"I took Vyvanse for about a year but had something similar since I was about 8-10 (15 now). I used to be a super happy and respectful little girl. This drug drained me of my personality. It made me a walking nightmare of anger and depression. I even attempted suicide on this drug. I experienced severe confusion and dizziness at times. I still have poor coordination (started a little while after I started taking it), and there have been days at a time when the thought of food made me sick, so I just didn't eat, making me actually sick. I always got random feelings of nausea and headaches, as well as hypersensitivity. My personal belief is that people under 18 (or people unable to decide for themselves) should not be prescribed this drug unless 100% necessary. I made it very clear that I didn't want to take it but was not taken seriously because I am a minor. I have been off of it for some time now, and I'm slowly making progress toward a better me."

"I am 20 years old. Dose 30 mg. Taking this medication for mood improvement (depression) and focus (ADD). Since starting: much more organized thought process, improved ability to communicate with others socially and keep a conversation going. Have been told by others that they notice a significantly positive change in my ability in social settings and in my affect. Intense focus in any activity I take part in. Significant increase in productivity and a major reduction of my depression symptoms. I am happier and more confident. Not easily bored anymore. Motivation levels have increased greatly, and I actually feel like doing my hobbies again (I had completely lost interest in them for a long time). Very suppressed appetite. Can get so focused on an activity that I will forget to eat all day. Must force self to eat. Weight loss. Teeth clenching. Tense jaw muscles. Thirst. Overall positive experience with this drug so far."

"Vyvanse is, hands down, in my opinion, the best ADHD medication out there. I was on Concerta from the ages of 7 to 13, then again from 20 to 21. I received genetic testing, and it came back that my body doesn't metabolize Concerta very well. So, the doctor gave me Adderall, which was too harsh with the come-up and come-down. Then, I made the switch to Vyvanse. Best decision. #1. You don't crash when you are on it. It has the smoothest come-up and come-down compared to Adderall and Concerta. #2. Vyvanse lasts a good 10 to 14 hours in the body. #3. It has the longest duration of action. #4. It has low addiction potential. #5. It also is the only one that helps manage my binge eating disorder."

"After entering into a rigorous educational program where I am in the operating room for hours at a time, I realized I needed to see my doctor for my ADHD. I first tried Adderall XR. I had severe side effects, nearing a heart attack. I went back to the doctor and was prescribed Vyvanse. I also have a history of anxiety and some depression. Vyvanse has been amazing! I can focus and my anxiety is nearly gone. I will say that I had more focus with Adderall, but an unnecessary amount of focus. I feel normal on Vyvanse, like I am not on medication. My heart rate does increase during the first couple of hours. I also have to time the dose just right or I will either not sleep or the meds will wear off too soon."

"I am a 44-year-old woman who just got diagnosed with ADD. Vyvanse is the first medication prescribed to me, and I have been on 50mg for about a month. The first 2 days, I was hyped up, euphoric, and extremely talkative. After that, and now, it has actually mellowed me out. I am in a good mood all day for the first time in 30 years (severe chronic depression). I can't believe the difference and wish I would have had something like this years ago. I might've had a better life. I can concentrate and happily socialize now. I have had zero side effects! Amazing."

"I have been on Vyvanse for almost 2 years and have had no major symptoms. I had a dry mouth, but that pretty much subsided. I did lose about 30 lbs, but I'm 5'9" and was weighing about 240 lbs, so it wasn't as bad a thing. I have ADHD, I started this medicine when I was almost 40. I'm almost 42 and really have had a great experience. My son is on it for ADD, and my daughter for ADHD. She was just tested and accepted into the gifted program, and he is 2 years younger and has had significant improvements in his grades and behavior. I would recommend."

"I have been on Vyvanse 60mg for over six months and it works great. I used to take Adderall XR, but the only problem with that is that it doesn’t last long enough and I couldn't eat while on it. When the Adderall would wear off, I would get extremely irritable to the point of crying because I was so angry and didn’t know why. However, with Vyvanse, it lasts the perfect amount of time (10-14 hours), and when it wears off, I do get a little bit of anxiety, but I never get irritable. I can also eat while on it. The strength is perfect, not too weak and not too strong. It really helps with my anxiety. Vyvanse is by far the best ADHD medicine I have ever been on, and I do not intend on ever switching to a different stimulant."

"LOVE IT. I took Strattera for 4 years but switched because of terrible nausea and anxiety. The first 3 months I had terrible migraines, lack of appetite, and trouble sleeping. Keep taking it daily to give my body time to adjust. No side effects now and a huge, HUGE improvement in work, concentration, and motivation."

"Switched from Adderall to Vyvanse because I was experiencing negative side effects. Even on the smallest dose of Adderall, I was anxious, had trouble with public speaking, and would have pretty bad mood swings. On Vyvanse, I finally feel like a 'normal' person. My mom noticed a difference on the first day, and I no longer feel hopeless and discouraged while doing schoolwork."

"My son has had ADHD for as long as I can remember. We have been through 5 different ADHD medicines with some sort of side effect with each one. I started doing research and finding out what my options were. I found Vyvanse by accident and I had to find out more. What I read was so amazing that I wanted it for my son. I couldn't believe how hard it was to get the doctors to understand that I knew what I was doing and I was going to do whatever it took to get my son the proper help. Well, needless to say, my son has been on this medicine for quite a few months now and the difference is amazing. He went from D's and F's (not kidding) to an A student on this past report card. To see the smile on his face and the sense of accomplishment was worth it all."

"There are some days it works to its fullest, and when I come down from it, I’m great. There are other days where it doesn’t really work, and I get really sad and moody, and my emotions are all over the place. It’s really, really inconsistent. Also, no matter what, it makes my heart beat pretty fast."

"I am an older adult who started taking Vyvanse about three months ago. I had been feeling tired and had a hard time focusing on work. At night I would come home and did not feel like talking with my family. I didn't like interacting with people at work. This had been going on and developing for quite some time. (Over the course of about 10 years) I talked to my regular doctor and nothing, psychologists were worthless. After seeing a psychiatrist he prescribed me 30 mg of Vyvanse to take in the morning. What a difference this drug has made for me, able to focus, function better socially, and just feel better. I'm 62."

"I’ve heard so many stories of this drug triggering personality disorders in people. My parents made me take it in high school for a few years, and I was so depressed for those years. It made me act weird. It caused facial tics that I still have to this day and can’t seem to get rid of, even being off the medication for 7 years. I was 95 lbs when I started taking Vyvanse and lost 8 lbs after taking it for 2 weeks. I recently started taking it again for binge eating and immediately felt the depression start by the end of the first day, didn’t take it the next day and still felt depressed. Taking it in school, I got a stimulant high for about an hour or a few hours depending on the dose, but after it wore off I lost all motivation to work, socialize, exercise, etc. I couldn’t fall asleep most of the time. This is my experience with Vyvanse and it may not relate to everyone, but I wouldn’t recommend this drug and can’t believe it’s still legally being prescribed, especially to kids."

"I have been on Vyvanse for 2 months now and started at 30 mg. That did nothing at all. Then I upped it to 40 mg. I have headaches constantly, no appetite, and constant mood swings. I'll go from happy to crying to just plain mean within minutes. If I'm not having mood swings, then I'm pretty much emotionless. I also have manic depression and a severe anxiety disorder. Vyvanse has done nothing but make my depression and anxiety worse, and now it's causing marital problems."

"I wasn’t diagnosed and treated for ADHD until I was 21. Once I took this medication, I spent the next few months in silence (no background music/news/TV show playing like usual) because my brain was so QUIET and peaceful, and I had never experienced that before. I’m now 23, and my life has changed so much for the better since then. I mostly notice that my brain is slower and quieter, and I'm able to complete tasks more thoroughly without rushing them or half-assing them. I have so much more motivation to do things that I used to dread doing. I get better sleep, I don’t eat out of boredom, my overthinking and anxiety have decreased. Overall, Vyvanse has changed my life so much. I’ve never tried an IR ADHD med like Adderall, so I can’t compare them, but I know Vyvanse works well for me for a long time throughout the day, especially if I titrate it by dumping the powder into water to drink throughout the day (which is an approved method of taking it, by the way)."

"I have to give Vyvanse a solid 10. I asked my Dr. to switch me from Adderall instant release 20 mg 2x a day to Vyvanse, and in my honest opinion, this was the best decision I made. Vyvanse helps me focus, more motivation, feels more subtle, which I absolutely love. Adderall, for some reason, made me feel like a different person, but with Vyvanse, I feel like myself still, which is great. It is really long-lasting, I don't know or understand how people say it only lasts for a few hours when, in my experience, it lasts a good 12-13 hrs. In fact, I heard people say it loses potency after 4 hours or so, but in my experience, I think it actually increases. But this is just my experience, and maybe metabolism as well, but anyway, I hope this is helpful for others."

"The first time I took a 30mg dose of Vyvanse, I felt really good in the morning, but in the afternoon I got really sick and vomited 7 times. I took a week off from taking it and took 15mg the next time. At 15mg, I didn’t feel any better mentally, but no side effects other than loss of appetite. Eventually, I moved up to 50mg a day, and it has been very helpful for my depression, especially in the morning. I feel a lot more hopeful, motivated, and focused when I take the Vyvanse, it really helps me at work."

"I am practically out of all options for ADHD medications due to side effects. Vyvanse has proven to be really effective for helping my ADHD. The focus I have is great and allows me to 'see' what must be done instead and actually do it! I also have Body Dysmorphic Disorder, which has paralyzed me from being able to go out of the house. My providers have been trying to get me to get out of the house for years! Unexpectedly, Vyvanse has practically eliminated my BDD and fear of being outdoors! For example, in any given week, I might go outside once, if that. I can barely stand one hour of being out. Now, with Vyvanse, I have gotten my life back. I didn't try. One day I went outside and just stayed! Now, I'm always outside doing lots of things for hours!"

"I have been taking Vyvanse on and off for a little over 2 years. I am currently taking 70 mg. It really helps me focus and multi-task at work. It also has helped with my anxiety, and I am able to tackle things that normally I would try to stay away from doing because of my anxiety. I usually take it during the weekdays and not take it on the weekends because I can go 10 to 12 hours without eating and barely having anything to drink because my appetite is not there. I've lost 95 pounds since taking Vyvanse. It also has made my libido go through the roof. There's an upside and downside to the medication. Overall, it has helped more than it has hurt, but there are negatives and positives."

"30 mg: I initially had immediate euphoria, sobbing in overwhelming feelings of love and happiness for several days. Gushing to family and friends about my changed life. At the same time, prompting my boyfriend to be extremely concerned that I was so “sped up,” acting and speaking like I’d had 500 cups of coffee. Sadly, positive feelings quickly faded. Within a week, I began more and more raging in violent outbursts of severe impatience, even worse than before. I became unable to smile or feel happy or loving, basically hurrying about trying to take care of things, and snapping at anyone who interfered. Sleep was also bizarre… no matter what time I took it, I would awake on the dot at the same exact hour every AM, even if I’d only been in bed a few hours, and I’d feel revved, though still exhausted. Tried half dose twice, but was just more low-grade angry all the time. Everyone kept exclaiming, “Why are you so angry?” Wrecked my relationships."

"I am productive, but I am not myself, I can't sleep. I stay up for days on end because there is so much I have to do. My body just wants rest, and my pulse is pounding behind my eyes. I can't remember the last time my body or my mind allowed me to eat, hunger is a distant memory. I am gregarious in conversations and go off like Charlie Sheen. I have stayed up for days until white walls turned orange. I have been on Vyvanse for a year, and before that, Medidate, Strattera, Concerta, Daytrana, Ritalin, and Adderall. I don't know who I am outside of my daily dose because I've been fed since I was 9, I'm 21 now. I have a 4.0 GPA, but I am miserable. None of these are good, the alternative is worse."

"Honestly, I have unbearable ADHD that I have never treated in my 30 years of life. Finally took action 6 weeks ago - Vyvanse, 40 mgs morning for the last 6 weeks. Now I am also 'fine-tuning' with 20 mgs 12 pm due to severe crashing, causing me to slur my words because of how bad the drowsiness is. I told my doc I have also had diarrhea for 4 weeks, apparently, it's anxiety causing this. I am so depressed. I had my first nervous breakdown ever during week 2, I feel disassociated - like I am seeing my memories as someone else's. I have lost 25 pounds in the 6 weeks. I feel nauseous, can't get up in the morning, headaches, incessant thinking. So many cons. Only pro is that I am less impulsive. That's it. My quality of life is even worse now. Everything seemed great the first week, though. Will try taking 20 mgs in the morning like week 1. If this doesn't work, getting a new doc that actually listens to me."

"My 6-year-old son has been on 20mg of Vyvanse for the past month and a half. I was so reluctant to start him on any type of medicine, but his inability to focus, keep his hands to himself, stay in his seat at school, etc., was affecting the learning of his classmates and causing him to have a hard time making friends. I saw a difference in him (and his teacher did, too), immediately after the first dose, he was able to focus, was making friends, etc. I have decided to try him on something different because he's losing weight and he's not the happy, sweet boy that I know he is. He's moody, he gets upset extremely easily, he's grumpy, and is super serious about everything, he finds nothing funny. It's definitely altered his personality, even off the meds."

"It made me go crazy. I was convinced of all kinds of conspiracies. Making connections that are not there. To me, it felt so real. I didn't seek help because of paranoia. It ended in me getting into a bunch of legal trouble because I thought people were out to get me. My life was completely ruined. I lost everything, and I mean everything. I lost the love of my life because I threatened her family, thinking they were replaced by robots because I thought AI was taking over and messing with me. I thought the craziest stuff. After coming off it, I spent months wanting to commit suicide. I ended up homeless because of my depression. I slept in my car. One night, I got drunk, wanting to commit suicide. I woke up to cops. Impounded vehicle and DUI. I tried to get help everywhere. I never got the help I needed. Keep this in mind when you decide to take this drug. You will be the one suffering alone. There is nothing in place if something like this happens. It has taken me forever to recover from."
