For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Weight gain of 2 to 3 pounds a month after levothyroxine was changed to euthyroid with a 40-pound weight gain. Have lack of energy and after 2 years have fatigue, thinned skin, chronic muscle soreness, and decreased libido."

For Underactive Thyroid "Walmart switched me from Levo to Euthyrox. I trusted that the medications were the same..... THEY ARE NOT!! I've been suffering for almost a year on this Euthyrox garbage. I've been sick, hair falling out, joint pains, migraines, diarrhea, fatigue, depression, heart palpitations, etc. TSH skyrocketed. I just got my new script and noticed it was Levo again..... after 5 days on it, I feel like a new person! Euthyrox is garbage! And I didn't connect the dots at all. I will NEVER take this AGAIN! I've been suffering for a year! Take this OFF THE MARKET!!!"

For Underactive Thyroid "Walmart switched my meds without even asking. My levels before were always in range, TSH had never been above 4.56 in 15 years. I was on Euthyrox for only 6 weeks before I went for labs and found out my TSH level skyrocketed to 13! I was having anxiety attacks and just not feeling myself. It was as if I had stopped taking my medication! This company should be sued for all the pain and suffering!"

For Underactive Thyroid "Euthyrox, this is an awful medicine. Firstly, I live in Europe, but in a country that is not in the EU, but in Southeast Balkans. Whatever, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in 2019 and was put on thyroid replacement drug, 25 mcg of levothyroxine, which in my country, N. Macedonia, you can only find under the brand Euthyrox by an American-German company, Merck. From the very first day, I had horrible side effects like skipping heartbeats, fainting, headaches, digestive problems, dizziness, sleepiness, blurry vision, brain fog, and general mood swings. I tried several times to stop this medicine, I felt great, but as the symptoms of Hashimoto's persisted, the doctors advised I keep taking. I got used to feeling like this, doctors raised my dosage with time from 25 mcg to 50 and then 75 mcg. Very often, when I take this pill in the morning, my libido, mood, and zest for life go from great to almost zero. I really hope I can find a source of supply of some other brand of levothyroxine to switch to."

For Underactive Thyroid "I have been on thyroid medications (Synthroid and levothyroxine) for quite a few years with no problems and good results/bloodwork. Several months ago, Walmart Pharmacy placed me on Euthyrox, and it has been a downward spiral since that time. I began experiencing many symptoms that only continued to worsen over time: muscle aches, fatigue, brain fog, headaches, dizziness, dry mouth, weakness. It was relatively easy to tell myself I was depressed, I was working too hard, it was age-related (I am 74), and on and on. Finally, I went back to when my symptoms began and knew the only change in that period of time was my medication. Then I checked out patient reviews of Euthyrox and knew I was not alone, so why is this medication still being prescribed? I called my pharmacy to put me back on my levothyroxine and never substitute that medication with any other drug again. My following lab level also showed a decrease in my level. Why is it still out there?"

For Hashimoto's disease "After taking Levothyroxine for 10 years, Walmart felt the need to mess with my prescription under the pretext that I wouldn’t know the difference. Without a prescription from my doctor, they changed me to Euthyrox. I suffered, for about 6 months, with several side effects similar to the ones I had when my thyroid failed originally. Thankfully, my doctor got me back on Levothyroxine, which again returned me to a high quality of life. Be on alert if Walmart makes changes under the counter without your approval."

For Underactive Thyroid "I noticed I was having severe night sweats, muscle weakness, itchy hands, but the worst was days-long migraines and cramps around my menstrual cycle. It wasn't until I realized that there may be an issue with my thyroid med, as it all started 2 1/2 months ago, right at the time of my last refill. I noticed it came in a box, and the pharmacy said it was the same thing. Went for my last test 3 weeks ago, and my TSH levels were severely elevated. The doctor thought I wasn't taking my medication. I told her I take it like clockwork every morning at 5 a.m. so as not to interfere with coffee or food. So she increased my dose. So glad I put 2 and 2 together. Walmart shouldn't do things like that with such a serious issue. This isn't the first time I've noticed an extreme difference, as I was having major headaches when they switched from Mylan. Can't believe they are still selling this if it almost acts like a placebo instead of actual medication."

For Underactive Thyroid "Do not take this medication! My TSH went from 1.2 to 9.6 for the year I was on it. I've had all kinds of problems and didn't realize the medication wasn't working at all. Walmart must have known about the problems because they switched me back to Levothyroxine without my knowledge."

For Underactive Thyroid "I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one! I’ve been on Unithroid for 2 years for hypothyroidism with no issues! Went to Walmart Pharmacy and was given Euthyrox. I have been taking it for 4 days, and I’m nauseous, no appetite, my body hurts, headache, and insomnia! What the heck! I called my doctor this morning, and he contacted the pharmacy to tell them to refill my Unithroid! I haven’t felt this sick in years."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have taken levothyroxine for 38 years with no issues. Lately, I have been having severe anxiety, body aches, and my hair was falling out. All of these things could be from other issues, and I didn't connect the dots. I was refilling my med pack, and a light went off. The last time I had my prescription refilled, Walmart filled it with Euthyrox. I went online and started reading the reviews and side effects. I have experienced nearly all of them! I have been testing for food and detergent allergies, as I have had lip and mouth swelling, hives, itching. I called my old pharmacy and am going to pick up my old med. Do not use this! I am just hoping that things will get back to normal."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 25 years ago and have had great results with levothyroxine regulating my thyroid levels. Walmart also changed my prescription about 2 years ago. I have suffered all the symptoms that you all have been mentioning and blamed peri-menopause, menopause as I have turned 54 this year. Today I picked up my prescription at Walmart, and lo and behold, they gave me levothyroxine instead of Euthyrox. That made me curious as to why they changed back, and I found this site and am so very grateful that I did. I am anxious to start taking the levothyroxine again to see if my symptoms subside, and am most confident that most of them will. Thank you for sharing your experiences, and hopefully, Euthyrox will come off the shelves."

For Underactive Thyroid "I am certain that this medicine is harmful. I started taking it ten days ago. My doctor prescribed a lower dose of 112 mg instead of the 125 mg I have been taking. This is the tenth day of taking it, and I feel bad. I have been fatigued, sleeping ten hours, dull headaches, stomach pain. For the past four days, it feels as if I am sleepwalking through the day. I just called Walmart and asked them to replace it with Levothyroxine. They should stop selling this Euthyrox!!"

For Hashimoto's disease "I have been taking thyroid medication for 36 years, and the pharmacy gave me Euthyrox, which I had never heard of. It caused dark circles, a rash, and water retention, and made my eyes feel like they were glued shut when trying to open them. I never had any of these problems with Synthroid, Levoxyl, or Alvogen brands. I am a healthy person and take care of my body. This product should be removed. I would rate it a zero if I could."

For Underactive Thyroid "My pharmacy went out of business, so I went to a pharmacy close to me. I had been on (Synthroid) Levothyroxine 88 mcg for years. This new pharmacist had given me Euthyrox 88 mcg, and within a few hours, I started getting nervous. Shaking so bad I could not work, talk (voice became shaky), I could not think straight. My child had to pick me up from work and take me to the EMS building to get checked out. My B/P was 200/90 and had an irregular heartbeat."

For Underactive Thyroid "After taking levothyroxine from Alvogen for 15 years and Synthroid prior to that, all with perfectly normal thyroid levels, Walmart switched my prescription to Euthyrox in late June. After a short time, I began to feel as I did when first diagnosed with hypothyroidism many years prior: rapid/irregular heartbeat, hair loss, insomnia, extreme fatigue, and new side effects such as difficulty swallowing, under-eye swelling, tightness in the chest, and nervousness/irritability. I called my doctor when Walmart again tried to give me a refill of Euthyrox. The doctor called in my original meds, and the cost went from $9 for 90 days of the levothyroxine to $288 now!!! I'm changing to a new pharmacy. I'm going back to 75 mcg of the Alvogen levothyroxine!"

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have used Levothyroxine for 30 years. I was first on Synthroid, but had to switch due to cost. Then I was on generic levothyroxine 125 mcg. Five years ago, I was lowered to 100 mcg, everything was still fine. Three months ago, Walmart filled my prescription with Euthyrox. I have taken this for 2 1/2 months. I feel horrible, I already have heart issues, R.A. Now I have no energy, my hair is falling out, I am gaining weight, all the stuff I used to have. Also, my blood work shows my thyroid is low. How could Walmart just up and give me this crap drug? Doctors need to make a stand for the patients. If they don’t give me what I had, I’m done with Walmart."

For Underactive Thyroid "I have been hypothyroid for ten years. My medication currently is 125 mg Levothyroxine and 25 mcg Cytomel. I moved recently to Barbados and was prescribed the Eutirox. I had a personality change on them, I became sensitive to sound and highly irritated, aggressive, and my appetite increased and energy levels decreased. I know my symptoms very well and monitor any changes. My abdomen became swollen with fluid and painful, my face and eyes puffy. I was relieved to find this site."

For Underactive Thyroid "This stuff is horrible. Walmart switched my med against my doc's orders, he had it stated I was only to take a specific brand name. Walmart then refused when my doc reasserted I was only to take a specific brand because of the side effects I've had with generics. Walmart still refused, so out of desperation, at this point, I'd been without my thyroid meds for nearly a month, I let them switch my prescription to Euthyrox. It has been awful, I feel exhausted and cold, with foggy brain and blurry vision as if I'm taking nothing. Yet I have the side effects of being overmedicated: high blood pressure, aches, irritability, anxiety, heart palpitations. This stuff is garbage! I'm pretty sure this must be yet another junk item Walmart imports. I'm now looking into switching pharmacies."

For Underactive Thyroid "I too got this from Walmart. Just awful. Took it for two weeks and began feeling so dizzy I would have to sit down. Tightness in my chest, then had terrible heart palpitations. The fatigue and dizziness got so bad all I could do was sit on the couch. This is a clear case of the cure being way worse than the disease. Take this stuff off the market."

For Underactive Thyroid "On a whim trying to figure out what is wrong with me. No doctor seems to help me. I researched the difference between the two drugs & mercy. Have I found the culprit? I have been feeling so lethargic, insomnia, weak, dizzy, fast heart rate, sweats if I try to push myself and faint. Physically unstable, nauseated, ankle and leg cramps, foggy, foggy. Memory getting bad, vision, headaches, chest, indigestion. I was given Euthyrox by Walmart instead of Levothyroxine. Taking for 3 months. Changed pharmacy in the meantime to Walgreens. I picked up new 90 Levothyroxine."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I was switched to Euthyrox (Walmart Pharmacy) because I guess their contract ended with a different generic and it was becoming increasingly difficult to get those ordered every month. So, I said screw it and obliged to Euthyrox. Just like my experience in the past with switching thyroid meds, I had every reason to believe this would make my thyroid go completely bonkers, and I had even prepared to get labs done frequently. And to my surprise, my labs have stayed normal and have even improved by a few decimals. Note to patients: get labs done frequently whenever switching thyroid medications. Better yet, try not to switch at all. But if you have to, get labs done as much as you can. I wish doctors and pharmacists made their patients aware that switching different brands and generics can cause some issues. Do your due diligence and you'll be fine. I'm actually glad to be taking Euthyrox, an actual brand-name drug for the price of a cheaper generic. The blister packaging is great."

For Underactive Thyroid "This drug needs to be taken off the market! Should have been taken off before now with all the negative reactions. My dosage is 88 mcg. My experience after beginning this drug is as follows: insomnia, headaches, fatigue, blurred vision, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, leg cramps, weakness in legs. I am so angry! Can't we trust our FDA to approve only what is safe for us? Look at the low rating!"
