For Birth Control "First, insertion was extremely painful. I am comparing it to a Paragard insertion about 10 years ago, a breeze. I had Paragard for 8 years with no issues, and do not have kids. I opted for Liletta last month. I've noticed such a dramatic shift in my mood and personality for the worse, as well as bloating and weight gain. What makes the side effects even more dramatic is that I have been working out really consistently (running 10 miles/week, yoga, strength), which would normally lift my spirits and mitigate any winter blues, but nope, I'll get off the treadmill and feel on the verge of tears for no reason. It's affecting my work and my relationship, I want it out asap. I've also been crampy and spotting for the entire month since it was inserted. I realize that part is meant to be normal, but it's like insult to injury taking all the other side effects into account. The pros are: I'm not pregnant. Worth it? Not at the cost of my relationship and mental health, and physical well-being."

For Birth Control "I've been on Liletta for a few weeks now. Insertion wasn't bad at all. My doctor warned me that I may feel a slight pinch and some cramping, but I didn't at all. She also warned me that everyone's different, and so are our periods. I'm typically a very heavy bleeder, but with this, I've spotted. Which, in my book, is a miracle. I've had no cramping, no mood swings, no negative thoughts. My man is well endowed, and neither of us feel the strings at all. My sex drive has gone up, and I couldn't be more happy overall. 6/17/2020 P.S. I would recommend a female doctor who also uses the same birth control so she can relate to you."

For Birth Control "The insertion process of Liletta was great, mild cramping. Spotting at first for about 4-5 days after. I am now 7 months in and I spot for 3 weeks at a time. I’m good for 2 weeks then spot for 3 more weeks. My sex drive is incredibly high, and it’s putting a strain on my sex life. This is my first time getting on birth control. I was never a heavy bleeder, just a fertile mertile. Got pregnant easy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful I am not pregnant, but I love sex and I am bummed with all this spotting."

For Birth Control "My OB-GYN convinced me to get this instead of getting my tubes tied after I had my third baby. She also has this IUD and highly recommended it to me. I have had it now for five weeks. I had the insertion done at ten weeks after delivering. I honestly felt nothing, I spot for two to three days every week. I got my period for one week so far. My periods used to be very heavy, now I just wear a pantyliner. As far as weight gain, I can’t comment because I just had a baby in July. Also, I am not breaking out, only on my chin from wearing a mask. Sex drive is good too! I really hope this helps!"

For Birth Control "Alright, I got Liletta in December of 2016, about 5 months after I had my son. After reading some reviews, I was terrified. But let me tell you, the insertion wasn't terrible. Yes, it hurt. But I'm sure the placing of anything in your uterus isn't exactly pleasant. I had cramping for about 24 hours and also had a bit of leg pain, which I thought was odd, but that too subsided within 24 hours. Very mild spotting for about 48 hours after insertion. Then, nothing. Haven't had a period since (7 months), no cramping, no crazy breakouts or weight gain or anything like that. If anything, I lost weight and increased my sex drive. Now, that being said, I do occasionally have an increase in vaginal discharge. Which isn't a big deal."

For Birth Control "I have had Liletta for a year. I had Mirena for the 5 years prior but switched jobs, and my company would not pay for IUDs anymore. My doctor suggested Liletta ($700) because the out-of-pocket cost was less than Mirena ($2,000). The insertion was the same-painful but bearable. I did not have any issues with Mirena and went on it initially due to heavy bleeding and severe cramping. I stopped a period altogether for about 4 years with Mirena. Since Liletta, I have had: 1. Breakthrough spotting and severe cramping 2. Panic attacks each month while PMSing 3. Severe PMS mood swings: emotional outbursts to raging anger. I never had these symptoms with Mirena or previous birth control. My gyno doesn't think they're related, but my onco believes it's the hormones from Liletta. I 100% agree. I don't feel like myself. My husband has seen a change in me over the year, from personality to sex drive. It's coming out this week, and I'm reporting the symptoms to the FDA."

For Birth Control "Had this Liletta IUD put in January 2020 because of irregular and heavy periods. The insertion was not bad. I experienced cramps for a day or two. But the spotting that followed was unreal. It lasted about 5 months accompanied by my regular, irregular periods. Additionally, I have gained 15 pounds, which is frustrating considering that I have maintained a consistent weight my whole adult life (except pregnancy) due to following a strict exercise and diet regimen. My sex drive is also completely gone and has been replaced with headaches, mood swings, anxiety, and depression. I am grateful to have found this website to learn this is not all in my head and others have experienced the same side effects. It’s not worth it anymore and I will be having the IUD removed shortly."

For Birth Control "I've had Liletta IUD for a little over 2 years. It was the worst experience! The insertion was so painful. I had contractions for days! My body kept trying to eject the IUD out throughout my cervix the entire time I had it. Sometimes the cramps were so painful, I felt my knees buckling. From the time I had Liletta in, I felt like my body had prepared for 2 pregnancies and was preparing for the third. I constantly felt pregnant. My BP skyrocketed and so did my weight. I gained 59 lbs!!!! I had some severe mental health issues. I was severely depressed and suffering from suicidal thoughts, and I did not know why. I thought maybe I'm overly sensitive to everything. My body wasn't mine, and I felt like I had to gain back control over whatever this IUD was doing to me. At this point, having a baby was better than this. I had my IUD removed a week ago, and I'm still spotting. It's light, but I will never ever recommend an IUD. It's been a week, and I've lost 4 lbs with no change in lifestyle."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have had this for a year. Before the IUD, I was diagnosed with menorrhagia and had one (small) fibroid. I used to plan my life around my period; wore a large menstrual cup, extra-long pad, and period panties (and still leak). I modified my diet and took iron supplements that did not work. I experienced extreme fatigue, irritability, depression, anxiety, migraines, and severe PMS. Insertion was painful. I bled for 10 days with painful cramps. My first cycle was awful, and for 3 months had strangely painful random cramps and spotting. After that, my periods got lighter and now I just wear pantiliners. In 5 months, PMS symptoms were gone. No more depression, night sweats, or raging mood swings. In 8 months, I no longer experienced debilitating fatigue, so I started exercising on a daily basis. I am now in the best shape of my life at the age of 37, no longer anemic, and have lost 25 lbs. My body fat has gone from 32% to 24%. Even my thin hair is growing back! I am SO GLAD I got this IUD!"

For Birth Control "Well, it has now been about 18 days since insertion, and the spotting comes and goes as it pleases, and I'm cranky some days. Some days I don't bleed at all, other days it's bright red spotting, other days it's like a brown color spotting. Getting frustrated with the spotting, but my Dr. says it's normal, and I'm having more acne than normal. So that's the not so great. Here's the great: my sex drive has gone up a lot, lol, and I have lost about 5 lbs. And my migraines have cut down over half of what I normally get. I don't know if it's the Liletta or not, but it's nice not to have migraines every day (been dealing with them for 10 years). So there's an update on my Liletta experience. I'll post another update in a month or so, hopefully with better news, lol..."

For Birth Control "My Dr. gave me a pill to take in preparation for the insertion of Liletta, and I didn’t experience any real pain. I have had this in since having my daughter, for about 18 months, and have never had a controlled cycle. Originally, I bled for months nonstop. The Dr. and reviews said to wait it out and that it should stop. Finally, after 6-8 months, the sporadic daily bleeding/spotting stopped, but I still felt like I was always bleeding. Here is my typical month: period starts and lasts for 8-10 days, spots off and on for the next 10 days, then period starts again. This is ruining my life (not even being dramatic). I would rather just take my risk and get pregnant than bleed all month. I have an appointment for removal next week. My Dr. wants to try another brand that doesn’t have this as a top side effect. Wish me luck!"

For Birth Control "In 2021, I had a baby and was so scared to get pregnant again that I got an IUD for the first time ever. I’ve only ever taken the pill with no issues. My pregnancy was horrible, and I had high blood pressure, so my OB wanted me to try the IUD. It’s been 2 years of mood swings, depression, dizziness, cramps, high anxiety, and a 40+ weight gain. No matter how much I work out or eat healthily, I can’t shed the weight. I always feel bloated, and I spot or have a light period two times a month. I’m getting it taken out ASAP, it is horrible, and I’ll never suggest someone get it. Yes, it's great and effective for not getting pregnant, but I’ll take my chances so I can lose weight and feel better."

For Birth Control "I think IUDs are a different experience for every woman because we all have different bodies. For me, Liletta has worked wonderfully! The insertion felt like bad cramping, but not unbearable. I've noticed some women on here are saying that they didn't bleed long after Liletta insertion, which is awesome, but my experience was that I spotted for a few weeks after with some occasional bad cramping, which I didn't feel like it was a big problem for me. A few months later, my periods are consistent, and I only get some slight cramping before periods. I used to have horrible cramps and heavy periods, but now my periods have become lighter and the cramps are not nearly as bad!"

For Birth Control "I did a lot of research on this before starting it and was VERY nervous. Something I found interesting was most reviews were written after 1 - 3 months of insertion, but the company itself advises a 3 - 6 month adjustment period for your body. So - I committed myself to the full 6 months before reviewing it. Honestly, I agreed after the first 2 months that it was not fun. I had spotting nearly every day and outright bleeding many days. My cramps were better, but not gone. But bleeding all the time was just horrible and not the tradeoff I wanted for reduced cramps. Then around 3 months, my body started to adjust and I noticed the spotting was getting better. Now I'm at 7 months and my cycles have pretty much stopped, I have no cramping, and I have occasional spotting. It is the BEST decision I made. I'm so happy I didn't let the negative reviews dissuade me. You MUST wait the 3 - 6 months for your body to adjust to this - you will be so happy you did!"

For Birth Control "I've had Liletta for 3 years now. I've had no major complications at all. My mood does have an array of emotions, but that's just how I am. My skin sometimes does break out, yes, but it's never serious. My secret is hair, skin, and nails gummies, loaded with keratin and vitamins E. You can find them at your local dollar store. On my face, chest, and shoulders, but it's never been too serious. I recently went to see my gynecologist, and she told me I was good for another 2 years, maybe longer. I said okay, but I've had spotting recently, which I haven't had since August of 2017, 6 months after insertion. Also, I've had some fatigue recently. I work 2 jobs currently, and I didn't feel like that when I worked 16 hours a day, 6 days a week, during the summer season. I do experience cramping every so often, which again I haven't had since August of 2017. Last but not least, weight gain. I've gained around 10 lbs in the last 4 months, but I work about 40 hours a week now. As to why, I don't know."

For Birth Control "I had this IUD put in almost two years ago. Pro: I'm not pregnant. Cons: Constant spotting still to this day, no sex drive, can feel it every now and then, and my boyfriend can feel it but has gotten used to it. I'm not sure why everyone says it hurt to be put in, because mine didn't. I did have to go back to have the string cut even more because it actually started to come out of me. Personally, I wouldn't recommend getting this product. I will be taking mine out as my boyfriend has realized how annoying the spotting is. Can't wear any cute underwear because you never know when the spotting will start up, and not having a sex drive is a killer. Why have an IUD if you don't even have a sex drive...?"

For Birth Control "Seeing all of these bad reviews, I feel inclined to share a different side. I got Liletta last Friday (August 11, 2017), so today marks day 6 with the device. The insertion was very, very painful. I was not on my period for the appointment, as your doctor should be able to do it either way. At its worst, the pain made me feel close to passing out, and I did throw up immediately afterward. My doctor told me this is normal. I stayed horizontal for about 20 minutes afterward since I drove myself to the appointment and didn't want to make myself sick again. I have had spotting on and off since then, but very, very light. Regarding the string, my boyfriend could not feel it during sex, and sex was not painful at all. Will keep you all updated."

For Birth Control "I got my Liletta put in July 2016. The insertion was painful, 8/10. The most painful part is when they clamp your uterus, I can still remember that pain now. I never had any pregnancies. I was crampy and had some oozing/spotting the rest of the day. I pretty much napped the whole day after that. The next day everything was fine. The following month I had a very light period. After that, I haven't had a true period since, I mean I get all the symptoms of a period without the blood. My sex drive actually increased with being on it. No weight gain or breakouts. So far it is amazing, and I love it."

For Birth Control "I'm not sure what other people experience months after the insertion, but I had my Liletta inserted in mid-November and I have bled or had spotting every day since insertion. I either have to use tampons or a pad depending on the day, but I can never go without one or the other. It is super effective as birth control for me, as I never want to have sex with my husband because of all the blood. I will be looking for an alternative birth control method."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted in January 2018 at Planned Parenthood. After insertion, I was bleeding for about 2 months. It was pretty heavy. Today, July 21, 2019, I still have it in me. I want it removed, following my gaining 30 lbs. This IUD gives me severe anxiety, depression, and agitation. I always feel tired, my legs get swollen, and I just randomly started spotting. I wonder if it moved its placement a bit. Scheduling an appointment to remove it."

For Birth Control "Got Liletta on 10/13/16, and so far, so good. Before it, I couldn't have sex without pain, and now my sex life has never been better. I had cramping the day I got it, but it was gone the next morning. I did also have spotting the day of, and that has gone as well. I will update in a couple of weeks, but so far, so good."

For Birth Control "I’ve had my Liletta in for about 8 months. I’m loving it! It hurt a bit during insertion, and I had cramps for a few weeks after, but it was nothing unbearable. No weight gain, no acne problems... it’s been great overall. The only reason it’s not a 10 is because I still get spotting every few days, which is a bit annoying. Overall, I love it. I’ve tried Depo Provera and birth control pills, which caused my breasts to ache and chronic mood swings. I 100% would recommend Liletta. I got it for free at Planned Parenthood too."

For Birth Control "I've had this for almost two years now, and I'm pretty sure this is why my weight gain happened. When I first got it, I spotted for almost seven months, and my period eventually stopped completely. I have been steadily gaining weight, and the doctor kept telling me it was because I turned 40. Had all blood work done with no reason for weight gain. The weight is in the stomach, chest, and back areas. I looked like an egg on toothpicks. I have gained 40 pounds. I'm heavier than I was nine months pregnant. It's horrible. Also, bloating has been a real problem. The doctor said the IUD would not cause weight gain... yeah right. Having it taken out next week. Should have done it sooner."

For Birth Control "I LOVE my IUD! It's so worth the 2 minutes of pain to have 3+ years of not worrying or taking a pill. Got mine inserted at PP, and it was free, and they were all very nice and let me lay down for 15 min afterward. I had been on the pill for a couple of years and had not had my period in a while. My first period after the IUD lasted 9 days. After that, I had a couple of days of spotting each month, and now, about 3 months later, I have no period at all. I have no skin or mood issues with this IUD and minimal bloating. This is so worth it to have no period or worries about pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I'm sharing for those of you considering! I'll start by saying EVERYONE'S BODY IS DIFFERENT! Especially with online reviews, I notice that people (as per human nature) tend to share their negative experiences and rarely do so when it's positive. I spent HOURS reading reviews online for all different kinds of IUD's... and it scared the hell out of me! Horror story after horror story and I psyched myself up so much fearing that I would be one of them. My experience was AMAZING! I give massive credit to my doctor - it's all about the expertise and skill of how it's put in. 800 mg of ibuprofen few hours before. 2/10 scale of pain/the mildest cramp during insertion. Drove home. Forgot about it a day later. Only light spotting and no other side effects. 3 weeks post insertion, I'm feeling so great! Trust YOUR body and don't comparing it to anyone else's and 'what could be.' I know I did, and I wish I hadn't.... :) Best of luck!!!!!"
