Levocetirizine for Allergies "My PCP said to get Xyzal for relief, I took my first pill last night. I was drowsy yesterday & took a 2-hour nap & knew I would be up for hours last night. I took my first pill last night at 10 pm & I was asleep 30 minutes later. I slept like a log for 9 hours (I'm usually fully refreshed after 7). I'm also a SUPER light sleeper & my husband said that he got up & made a lot of noise but I never heard a thing. I forced myself awake & felt heavily drugged (like I was only 1 hour into a NyQuil night). Then 2 hours later I was still feeling drugged & napped deeply for 2 hours, I woke up & feel heavily drugged still, Like morphine or Norco has been flooded into my body. My limbs are limp, I want to lay my head back & sleep again. Talking feels hard to concentrate on. I’m holding my eyes open extra wide to keep them from shutting involuntarily. Seriously- this is scary at how strong it’s affecting me and I’m scared to try to do anything. I’m not taking any more of this stuff!"

Levocetirizine for Urticaria "I have suffered from hives as well as intense itching without rash for 15+ years. It is getting worse with age (I'm 34). Touching random objects, anything laying on or against my extremities, heat, etc. Went to the allergist finally as I thought I was having severe food allergies - they diagnosed me with urticaria, turns out I have no allergies, just 'reactions.' I told them antihistamines have never worked for me, but they said with this condition it may be needed up to 4 times a day. I started with Zyrtec twice a day, which helped, but I was too sleepy. I have been on 1.5 Xyzal am, 1 pm for over a month now and am mostly itch-free for the first time I can remember. Can't believe OTC medication was all I needed for this endless nightmare."

Levocetirizine for Allergic Rhinitis "I started taking it about two weeks ago, and it made me super sleepy. Then I started to take it at night, and I would wake up with heart palpitations. I have had indigestion and chest tightness. I’m going back to my old faithful, Claritin."

Levocetirizine for Allergic Rhinitis "I have been on Xyzal for a few years now for seasonal allergies. I am on the 5 mg dosage. I take it at night 20 minutes before I go to bed, and I sleep like a baby. When I wake, I have allergy relief all day: no runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, and hives during ragweed season. When my allergies are not bad, I cut back to a half pill, and it keeps my sinuses clear. If I come across a friend’s dog or cat, the small dose in my system keeps me in good shape in those situations too. It definitely works for me. The only cons for me are: sometimes a dry mouth, and it will make you sleepy if you take it during the day."

Levocetirizine for Urticaria "I have had hives my entire life. I finally saw an allergist, and he did tests. He took me off of all medicines and put me on Xyzal. I took the Xyzal three times, and I have not had a hive since. Seriously. I had my first hives at 4 months and had hives every day for forty-six years. I do not know what Xyzal did, but it fixed me. I stopped taking Claritin, Benadryl, and Zyrtec. I took Xyzal for three days. It made me VERY sleepy. I can't even take a normal Benadryl dose without falling asleep, though. I had to take liquid Benadryl, one teaspoon, if I wanted to stay awake. I slept twelve hours with my first dose of Xyzal and about 8 hours with the two successive doses. Then, I never had a hive again."

Levocetirizine for Allergies "After taking Xyzal for only 3 weeks, my quality of life has vastly improved. The first 2 days I felt a little sleepy. The only symptom I still have is a runny nose in the morning, but it goes away after several hours. I took Zyrtec D for over a decade while living in Los Angeles, and my allergy symptoms were controlled, but some days I could barely speak because my mouth and throat were simply too dry. After moving to Arizona, Zyrtec D was failing to control my allergy symptoms, and I was dry everywhere. My skin itched, my eyes and ears itched and hurt. I tried both Claritin D and Allegra D, which provided little to no relief."

Levocetirizine for Allergies "I have really bad allergies due to tree pollen. I tried Xyzal for the first time, and it works! My throat doesn't get itchy anymore, and my nasal congestion is gone. I take 1 pill before bedtime, and my only struggle is staying up during the day. My brain gets foggy, and I am super sleepy. I am currently typing with my eyes shut. ZZzzzzzz."

Levocetirizine for Allergies "Xyzal has helped keep the chronic sinus infections away while on a biologic for an autoimmune disorder! That's a miracle! I love Xyzal. Some days I get sleepy, so I take it at night. Now, if I can just get the autoimmune symptoms to go away, I'd be kicking booty! Love Xyzal for allergies!"

Levocetirizine for Allergic Rhinitis "Day 2, throat drainage is much better, although hasn't stopped completely. Congestion in my nose is better as well. No problems with feeling sleepy. Trying this to see if I can avoid deviated septum surgery after being on antibiotics for 3 months for severe sinus infection."

For Urticaria "I have been taking levocetirizine for my hives now for 15 days, and all this medication does is put me to sleep. I still have hives and have had urticaria since July 2013. I am seeing an allergist, and she put me on prednisone, and I have had at least five different prescriptions of this drug that is not really good for you, but the only prescription steroid that keeps the hives away. I know this is a very bad drug if taken for a long time, but it truly is the only drug that gets rid of my hives, but when I am done with prednisone, hives come back in 12 hours. Levocetirizine, I see nothing for getting rid of hives, and all this drug does is make me sleepy. What a battle this is. :("

Levocetirizine for Urticaria "This cleared up an allergic reaction caused by an antibiotic I was taking, as well as allergy symptoms to molds at the same time - very fast acting too. Not as sleepy as with Benadryl, either."
