Latanoprost ophthalmic for Intraocular Hypertension "I'm absolutely content with this drug. Originally, my doctor prescribed me latanoprost and I've been sick quickly. I had a severe sore throat, and my eyes were strongly red all the time after just 10-12 days of using it. Then I came back and told about all side effects. After that conversation, my doctor prescribed me Xalatan, and I am really content now! It's my third week of using it, and I don't have any side effects. No sore throat, no headache, no weakness, no muscle pain, no redness. My eyes were just a little bit red at the beginning, but now they are all okay."

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "I have been prescribed latanoprost and received the Greenstone brand. This was to replace the Dorzolamide HCl and Timolol Maleate, which caused a severe drop in O2 and wheezing. I wound up in the hospital (I have ongoing lung issues and should never have been prescribed that). The new Dr. prescribed latanoprost. At first, I thought it was okay. But I developed pretty severe night sweats about the same time. I didn't put it together at first... but just looked it up, and sure enough (buried in the literature). I've also had lower O2, just not as bad as the Timolol, and sinus issues, chills, jaw pain, and anxiety. PAY ATTENTION! It's hard to believe that eye drops can affect so many things, but they have a direct pathway into your body. They are DESIGNED to lower 'pressure,' so that should be a clue. It's interesting to note the differences between manufacturers. It seems that medicines are not as regulated as they should be, I wish that we made our own medicines in this country!"

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "I took Latanoprost for a few months and began experiencing a runny nose, severe coughing, and congestion. My face also began to break out. I presented my concerns to the doctor and was told he had never heard of respiratory side effects, so I continued taking it. Now, after putting up with the cold and sinus effects for another few months, my face got worse - red and pimply. I was sent to a dermatologist who thought it might be rosacea. I am 74 years old and had always had a beautiful complexion. The dermatologist told me it could be an allergy as well. I immediately thought of my newest drug - Latanoprost. I stopped taking it, and within 2 days, I was clearing up. I needed to retest this, so I started using it again. After 6 days, I was red, rashed, and filled with anxiety. I was in tears. I stopped using the drops again, and now, after 3 days, I am almost clear. I will be making an appointment with my doctor after waiting another couple of days to see if the rash returns, and then goodbye to this horrid stuff."

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "Doctors should warn people before prescribing this. I think the side effects and incidents of side effects of this and even other drugs are underreported. When people stop a medication due to side effects, doctors should be required to log this with the manufacturer. My case with this drug. Within a few days of use, I started to have a runny nose. After a few weeks, this worsened such that I felt like I had a head cold all the time. Runny nose, sore throat, and cough. Very hard to get any good sleep. In addition, it lightened the iris color in both my eyes. At least they both were lightened equally. However, I used to have very dark brown, almost black, eyes, and now they are medium brown. I stopped using these drops a few days ago. The runny nose is getting a little better but still persists. I am hoping the cold symptoms will eventually go away, but now I read that the iris color change can be permanent."

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "This stuff is absolute poison and my built up in my body over several months, culminating in a multi-systemic reaction that has taken over a year to recover from. I do not recommend this for anyone, especially those with potential MTHFR genetic mutations, vitamin B metabolism issues, beta-oxidation disorders, nor for humans, period. There is not one system that didn’t suffer. Even a year later, I still have occasional reflux (bile & acid) issues and focal aware seizures. I only had psoriasis and glaucoma before this drug—but my physical and mental health were nearly devastated by it. They don’t understand the method of action of the pharmacokinetics of this drug, but I’ll tell you: it dysregulated all of my smooth muscle tissue. It’s supposed to affect only by the back of the eye, but if you can’t oxidize this poison, may Heaven help you as it did me."

For Intraocular Hypertension "They are the drops with the most side effects I've had in my life. Heart beating to the maximum, insomnia, no motivation. I felt the effect for 28 hours. It's the worst medication I've ever had in my life."

Latanoprost ophthalmic for Intraocular Hypertension "About 4 years ago, my eye pressure was discovered to be 21 with no nerve damage. I had exams every two years prior and it was normal. Luckily, it was discovered early and I was given Xalatan, one drop in each eye daily. There was a little burning at first, but it was tolerable and only lasted a minute or so, and not every time. Now, it's very rare. After monitoring every six months for the first two years, and now only yearly exams needed as pressure is at a steady 11. No nerve damage. Though I must take this medication forever, it sure beats the alternative - developing glaucoma, irreversible damage, and blindness. Additionally, not missing any exams is for one's own benefit. Note: getting yearly physicals and exams is proactive in keeping healthy, and any abnormalities can be detected early on and treated before greater damage is done. This is a simple task, and may no one hear their doctor say, 'If we had caught this earlier...'. Take care of yourself and be safe!"

For Intraocular Hypertension "I do not like this drug because it causes me depression and anxiety (and palpitations). I am either dizzy or crying or have an upset stomach. I am so afraid because this is supposed to be the best glaucoma med, top of the top with the least side effects, and I have partial vision loss in my left eye already. I can't even imagine inferior glaucoma drugs with more severe side effects. After suffering for a month, I decided to try pinching my nose by tear ducts for 2-3 minutes after applying drops to prevent spreading systemically, but I still seem to struggle. I'm 69 years old and use levothyroxine for Hashimoto's Hypothyroid, so maybe I'm more sensitive. It did lower my IOP but I want to try preservative-free latanoprost first before switching to a different kind."

For Intraocular Hypertension "New bottles of latanoprost 0.005% coming from Rising Pharma leak from 2 places. Humana pharmacist actually told me instructions are merely to tap the bottom of the bottle. So I said, okay; one hand to hold your eyelid, one hand to hold the bottle, where can I get hand #3? I think it is a defective bottle design or manufacturing problem. It is also the only brand that Humana Pharmacy uses for home delivery."

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "I've been using Lumigan and dorzolamide for 5 years with no problem, but the Dr. wanted less pressure for my right eye, so prescribed Rocklatan, which is half latanoprost: only one drop of Rocklatan in one eye per day and only for the past 5 days. Such a tiny amount, but it has had a huge effect! I am a healthy and active 70-year-old -- swim every other day for 30 laps. Today I thought I had COVID (I've been vaccinated). Yesterday and today, I had an episode of a retching dry cough until I had to sit down. Today it was kind of scary -- it was hard to catch my breath because I was coughing so hard. This was after a swim. Latanoprost increases cough sensitivity -- look it up. I rarely have anxiety -- but I've had a dread kind of anxiety for 3 days. This morning when I woke up and tried to look at the weather report on my tablet in bed, I could not read it -- vision too blurry! I have put four freaking drops in one eye -- that is all. This medication is too strong for me."

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "I have used latanoprost in combination with Simbrinza for over 3 years for an advanced stage open-angle glaucoma. These two successfully stabilized eye pressure from 25 to about 15-17. After the second year, my doctor used SLT to lower it to 9-10; but after one year, pressure has returned to about 15 using these same two meds. My doctor has now switched me off latanoprost to Vyzulta, but after one month, no change in pressure."

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "Very similar to many of the negative reviews here. This is my second time using it, so I knew there could be side effects. A repetition of things I had experienced before, but this time with the addition of a cough so persistent and annoying that I thought I might have COVID. A PCR test came back negative, and that confirmed my suspicion. I also noticed that the coughing was really a reaction to the post-nasal drip, an almost constant running in the inside of my nose. The tiredness and muscle pain is such that it makes me lose interest in everything, a mental state very close to depression. This was after a few months of using them. I’d rather go blind, hahaha, there is no point in seeing if your mental state makes you an invalid. I’m still in two minds as to whether to give them another try, I might go back and stop at the first signs, which this time was the post-nasal drip. Or I might just not bother, the return of my general well-being is rather a relief."

I am trying to change my eye drop, but it is good for getting your pressure down, but I cannot watch T.V. ever again."

For Intraocular Hypertension "I have used Xalatan for 9 months now. I am extremely lucky as I have no side effects whatsoever. My readings at the specialist look good, and I am grateful that it works. I also suffer from other chronic illnesses, so I am fully aware that sometimes we just have to deal with the side effects of our meds... all the best to those on this journey."

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "I took latanoprost, and I believe it made my digestive sphincters malfunction. Except for glaucoma, I’ve always been healthy, on no meds, and with good annual physicals. I’ve never had heartburn before. I have developed straining with pooping that started shortly after, trouble swallowing that started after four months, then heartburn, acid indigestion, the feeling like ulcers are described, and acid reflux—I used Maalox, and when I took an antacid, my stomach burned like I had more ulcers, my throat burned, my saliva burned, and my mouth tastes like bile. I think the sphincter leading to my duodenum was also malfunctioning. I am going to the doctor to get an endoscopy to see the extent of the reflux next week."

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "Initially my doctor had me use drops every other day, but the pressure did not go down enough. So I told to put drops in every night about an hour before bedtime. That is when things got worse. 1-Chronic nightly insomnia, jolting awake with a pounding heart every few hours when I was able to sleep. 2-Red eye irritation so much I had to use drops to relieve the irritation. I am not on any other meds. 3-Latanoprost is considered a generic. I had to stop drops a couple of days just to get a full night’s sleep. 4-My doctor is planning to go back to Zioptan which is not generic or another eye med instead. Be careful with this medication. Tell your doctor right away if there is a problem."

For Glaucoma, Open Angle "Very effective at first, but I may be coming off this and going onto something else. It seems my eyes have a mind of their own and outfox the medications, and I cycle through different meds to reduce eye pressure. It feels like I have an object in my eye sometimes after putting the drops in. Passes soon enough."

For Intraocular Hypertension "I started Latanoprost in 9/2021. One drop in each eye at bedtime. Within two days, I started having headaches. By the end of the first week, I had a bad headache that was 24/7 and wouldn't go away. When I realized that Tylenol or ibuprofen would not relieve the headache at all, I called my doctor. By the time of my visit, I had a headache for three weeks. Within 2 days of stopping the drops, my headache was almost completely gone. Within a week of stopping the drops, it was completely gone. Switched to another drop, and no more headaches. Note that my doctor did send me for a brain MRI to be sure there wasn't something else going on. The test came back 'normal'."

Latanoprost ophthalmic for Glaucoma, Open Angle "This is better than LUMIGAN. LUMIGAN gave me flu-like joint symptoms. Have stinging pain, but tolerable. At least Xalatan doesn’t have flu-like pains. Though by 5:30 PM each day, my eyes and eye areas are super burning. Had to use aloe vera sunburn creams and cucumber (it was either that or a packet of frozen peas on my face). FYI, laser didn’t change my pressure, turns out it only works for 80 percent of people. Re Xalatan, I’m not sure I can tolerate this extreme sunburnt for that long."

I take them as prescribed, I have noticed, however, that I get really drowsy and nod off. For Glaucoma, Open Angle "Well, today would have been my third day using the drops, but I slept all day and will skip the dose until tomorrow. I read all the information inside the box. I did all the internet searches - googled, binged, duckduckgo, you name it. I read that the medication must be kept refrigerated until I open it. That means when I buy it from my local Walgreens, CVS, Target, or Rite Aid, or the Victorian pharmacist, it better be cold. Please understand that I read what it meant, which means I don't want to hear, 'oh no, it's okay, it can be 6 weeks to months.' No, to me it means JUST LIKE THE VACCINE, YOU MUST KEEP IT COLD OR ELSE CHANGE THE LITERATURE."
