Iron sucrose for Iron Deficiency Anemia "My experience with Venofer has been a nightmare. I was scheduled for 4 infusions over a course of 2 weeks. At the time the drug was administered, I did not experience any side effects. But as it got in my system, I have had joint pain, muscle pain, back pain, overall body pain. I'm in my mid-30s and feel like I have severe arthritis. My doctor has since prescribed a steroid, which has even worse side effects, so I really wish I never had taken this drug. I did not experience this in the past with infusions (Infed). Apparently, these are common side effects and it's been 4 weeks now, and I still struggle with these joint pains. When will they go away????"

For Iron Deficiency Anemia "Venofer iron IV injections were prescribed for me. I received my first dose on April 19. I seem to tolerate it well until that afternoon when I felt very dizzy and faint. I had swelling in my body and back pain. Over the next week, I had body swelling and weight gain rapidly. I received my second infusion on April 25. I seem to tolerate it well, however, I had the same swelling and back pain and rapid weight gain. About three days after the second infusion, I had horrible body aches and joint stiffness and pain, along with sudden onset weakness and neuropathy in my hands and feet that has not gone away two weeks post-infusion. I’ve seen multiple doctors, and I’ve been to the ER. I was normal one day, and now I can barely write my name because of the loss of feeling in my hands. I’m currently laying on the bed with my joints so stiff and swollen I can barely walk, and I am a person who normally can run 5 miles."

Iron sucrose for Iron Deficiency Anemia "In January 2023, I had this iron injector and was told it was what I had in the past, but it was not. Within three weeks, I had constipation, then chest pain, feeling a lump in my throat, shortness of breath, headache, and back pain that won't go away. Is anyone else having these issues?"

Iron sucrose for Iron Deficiency Anemia "Have had iron infusions in the past every 4 years since having a gastric bypass. I suspected Venofer was not what I was given in the past, but was assured it was what I needed and did so reluctantly. Wish I had not! Was given Venofer for an hour and a half. I was not observed for any length of time. Hours later at home, chills, sweating, pain in every joint. Back pain and throbbing in my kidneys that lasted a day and a half. A week later, I'm still dizzy and have fallen 3 times! Still feel tired and weak. Labs next week to see if I need another infusion. It won't be this!"
