For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Humalog for several years. I've tried Novolog and Apidra, and both have given me terrible side effects. Humalog also gave me side effects, and I have noticed that throughout the years it has gotten worse. The headaches start from the back of my head, then it works its way down the back of my neck and spine. It has also created an upset stomach that leads to acid reflux, chest pains, and an increase in blood pressure. It has sent me to the ER several times, at first not realizing it was the insulin causing all the problems. When I stopped it to use Apidra, all the symptoms disappeared for about a week until I started getting other side effects from the Apidra that were worse, and I had no choice but to go back to Humalog. I seem to have run out of options. I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't...in search of a better solution before it kills me..."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "I am on a Medtronic insulin pump, and have had good results from this medication. Unfortunately, Medicare told me that Humalog was no longer covered; I was switched to Fiasp. Within two days, my average blood sugar went from 130 to 680. In the meantime, I had changed my diet three times and doubled my daily insulin dose, to no avail. I was switched back to Humalog, and within a day my blood sugars were back down to normal. Now, I am having trouble paying the $450.00 a month for the insulin... shame on Medicare."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I used to have effective treatment of diabetes with Humalog and Lantus, but recently the Humalog is not working. I gave the Humalog company a call, but they said they had not recently received other complaints. I've been on the 100, 200, and now the 500 strength, and none of them are working. Seems like the pens are filled with water, not insulin."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "I have been using Humalog for approximately 1 year, in addition to Lantus. It has been working fine, but my complaint is in the pens. I have had 4 pens malfunction over the past year. I understand there are flaws in any item. But when I called Lilly to get replacements for the pens, they flatly refused to stand behind their product. I just want to warn everyone who plans or is using this medication that Lilly does not stand behind their product, and you will be spending extra money in the event you experience a bad pen. These pens can get expensive. Buyer beware!!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have had diabetes for three years, and I was not able to control it much. I had been on Lantus and Humulin. Unfortunately, my sugar readings were too high. It's been a month now since I'm on Humalog, and my readings have never been better. I'm so glad my doctor put me on Humalog, it really works."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "I've been using Humalog for about 6 months so far. I was using Novolog before, having to switch because of my insurance. I have found that I need to take more of the Humalog, and the reaction time is also slower than Novolog."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "I've been using Humalog in my insulin pump for over 10 years. Humalog works well as a basal insulin, as well as a bolus for highs that may occur due to a variety of circumstances. I've found it very easy to adjust my blood glucose levels using Humalog."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Humalog for over a year and it works well in dropping high sugar; however, I started having a fast pulse. An EKG was done and shows sinus tachycardia. I found in the PDR (Physicians' Desk Reference) that Humalog causes sinus tachycardia. So I'm done with Humalog."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "When I take Humalog, my sugar level becomes in control, but my doctor, without telling me, changed to Lispro, and that's it. My number is not showing except High, it never changed, even though I am taking it 3 or 4 times. It's not working out, but I have to take it 3 times a day."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "I'm from Brazil and I'm type 1. I've been using Humalog for almost one year. It's going well, my blood sugar goes down quickly and I use it as basal too and works well. Sometimes it doesn't work well because you have to balance your meals and exercise more to avoid creating resistance to the medicine. In Brazil, it's a little expensive and the government doesn't cover it."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "I have been on Humalog for at least 15 years with my insulin pump, 770G. It works really well. Yes, the diabetes sugars go up and down, but not due to the Humalog, my body, stress, bad back, stress, infection, various reasons for the fluctuations, and I don’t blame the insulin at all."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "I have used Humalog for 5 years. My insurance company told me I could no longer use any other insulin. Why they told me that, only they know. It appears to be a result of Lily's sales team. Humalog worked well for a few years. Last year it suddenly stopped working well. I suddenly needed TWICE as much insulin for each dose. I count carbs and use 1 unit of Humalog for every 10 carbs eaten. Suddenly, my BG was through the ceiling. On a guess, I increased my Humalog by 60%, my BG went down considerably. I increased it more until my BG was back to normal. You can blame whatever reason you want, but I think Humalog has been altered by Lily. It just isn't as effective for me, it goes bad twice as fast, it can NOT be allowed to get to room temperature (warmer than 75°F) or it stops working at all. I stopped using Humalog. I use Novolog. Novolog works better, quicker, and is more dependable than Lily's altered Humalog. If Humalog works for you, great. It is terrible for me."
