For Hypertriglyceridemia "I really wasn't aware of the outrageous cost until my insurance briefly lapsed. It's $330 a month. For fish oil. I almost felt bad for my health insurance co. Almost. I've been taking this Gucci fish oil for two years and my cholesterol has barely budged. A little research seems to show only two studies that were paid for by Amerin that show good results in a very carefully selected group of people. I'm done with Vascepa. It all sounds more like snake oil."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "After having to do some back and forth with my insurance company, they finally approved Vascepa because I couldn't afford it otherwise. I've been taking just 2 pills once a day for about 6-7 weeks. I had blood work done in July and then again a couple weeks ago and my triglycerides have dropped from 245-179. I don't remember the last time my number was that low. I don't have any other side effects, good or bad, but I'm glad my numbers are dropping. This may help me get off 2 other meds I'm on."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "I started on one gram Vacepa twice a day a week and a half ago. My Cholesterol is only 215, but my Triglycerides are over 750. Yesterday I started hurting all over in most of my muscles and joints, even my ear, eye, and bottom of one foot. My hip is in terrible pain, although it was hurting previously, but not this bad. I'm not taking Vacepa again. Terribly expensive even with insurance."

"I don’t know if it helps. I have had Afib attacks for about 20 years. Have significant weight gaps, swelling, unexplained stomach symptoms, and intermittent pain like fibromyalgia. I fear it caused episodes with an implanted heart recorder but we can’t find the reason for this time. I have had unsuccessful Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) ablation. In the past, before cholesterol was high, afib was fixed twice by ablation. Doctors are clueless about my mystery symptoms but I’m thinking of stopping Vascepa for the rest of the year."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I'm taking vascepa to lower levels of triglycerides, 2 milligrams a day, after a few days develop small rash in face and also swelling under my big toes. I called cardiologist said it's not gout ,but recommended I stopped taking it and consult with primary doctor. So now I have a six month supply that I paid $308 for it and it might be useless to me. Mind you that's with insurance without insurance $1,174 not cheap. As yo can imagine not happy about the situation."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Not only does Vascepa lower my triglycerides, it works better than any antidepressant on the market. Maybe it's my body chemistry, but about 3-4 weeks after taking the medication, my mood has vastly improved and has remained positive for the last three years. Love it. It's not cheap ($60 for a 90 day supply with my insurance), but it's well worth it!"

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Taking this $100 a month medicine to lower very high triglycerides. Not able to exercise effectively due to back pain from car crash. Also have high alt and AST from taking prednisone to shrink post radiation tumor. So very high triglycerides came down a some points into 300's after 4 months. So in January 2021, I had my gallbladder removed via laparoscopic procedure. I kept taking Vascepa same dosage 2 pills with first meal and 2 pills with dinner. Then I developed type II diabetes. Now in September 2021, my triglycerides increased to 600's. So I guess it does not work for everyone. The cost may not be worth it for me."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Vascepa had no effect whatsoever on my triglycerides. Super expensive and not efficient. Nothing seems to work for me to lower my cholesterol or triglycerides. Everything else causes terrible side effects. This one didn't, but did nothing good either, except costing me an arm and a leg"

For Hypertriglyceridemia "MD put me on Vascepa as an alternative to Gemfibrozil just to try it out. Did work well on overall triglyceride's but triggered what appeared to be gout in my left big toe. I am already treated for gout so when we did Uric acid level test it was around 5 (which is good) indicating this was not a normal gout attack even though it feels exactly like it. Stopped Vascepa last week but am on vacation so having to walk more than usual so toe pain is taking forever to settle down. Optimistic from reading other comments it will resolve now off of Vascepa. One confusing thing is why this appears like gout but uric acid levels are low so not sure how crystals are forming. Zero help from vascapa online information."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Vascepa lowered my triglycerides, but I had to quit taking it. Caused awful itching and pimple-like spots on my back and shoulders. I wanted to make certain the itching was from Vascepa and not something else, so I eliminated just Vascepa for a week. The itching lessened every day, and the skin is clear after two weeks. Great at lowering triglycerides, but had to quit taking because of itching."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Taking 4g of Vascepa along with 200mg of Fenofibrate per day has reduced my triglycerides from +8 to between 2 to 3 (in metric units.) Vascepa didn’t reduce my triglycerides on its own but it somewhat helped. Fenofibrate was an effective medication. The side effects that I think are attributed to Vascepa are constipation, dizziness, and lack of stamina. I am eighty years old but I have been very active and going to the gym for the past 35 years five days a week, two hours per day. I do heavy weightlifting. Yet recently, I feel tired quite faster than in the past. I also experienced shortness of breath occasionally, which I think is due to my mild anxiety. I’m not taking any medication for anxiety."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "I believe my triglycerides went down. It seems the timing of when I started taking the medication coincides with a dramatic increase in joint pain especially in my hips. Although I only take two gelcaps a day. But maybe paired with my hypothyroidism...? I've stopped taking for about a week and noticed a decrease in the severity of pain."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "You want to avoid taking this medication if you drink alcohol. Which I do. Daily. I was experiencing shortness of breath very bad. To the point where I was ready to go to the hospital. My fault but my doctor should’ve informed me of such things since he knew I was a drinker. I stopped taking the medication."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Started several months ago. Stopped due to muscle aches and pains. Got better within 2 days, normal after 4 days. I got anxious about not taking it after weeks so I started again. Aches and pains the next day so I quit again. Still had some aches and pains so I stopped some other meds. My pains went away almost completely. I’ve started back on Vascepa and have no aches or pains. I guess interaction with other meds was a problem. If a person is taking several meds, and all of them have a common side effect, it’s bound to happen."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "I was put on this back in May. It's Sept, 2021 now, and I've been to the hospital twice in two weeks with Afib, heart palpitations, shortness of breath. This is the only new thing I been taking. I don't know if it's the culperate. It did its job as far as lowering my triglycerides. I took 4 pills a day, and it went from 1145 to 615 from May-Sept."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Was on vescepa for 6 months. No side effects. My triglycerides STAYED THE SAME and my LDL INCREASED by 100 and my HDL increased by 5. No diet changes or exercise changes during the six months. So not worth it."
