"I was prescribed Vascepa for elevated triglycerides associated with HIV+. As I am on polypharmacy due to various unrelated conditions and many meds in my daily regimen duplicate, interact, enhance, or all three, the many side effects associated, my physicians and I are hard-pressed to attribute the cause of most of my discomfort. Recently, I developed terrible ankle pain (bilaterally upon flexion). Another review contributor here voiced the identical issue along with foci of seemingly arbitrary intense deep muscle pain (for me, this is in the right quadricep). Stopping all meds and reintroducing them in turn is not an option for me. Additionally, MDs are no longer trained in full; rather, specialty is rife with the lack of scope that results. As I don't feel that Vascepa is of singular need for my life and health, I shall share my thoughts with my PCP and then wean myself off this med with care."

"Have naturally high triglycerides that peaked at 650, my brother told me about this drug, and I had my doctor put me on it. My blood work one month later came out at 160. I had another test three months later, and it was up to 180. Waiting for the most recent test. No side effects."

"Two months of taking 4 grams a day, and my triglycerides went from 500 down to 125. Incredible response, no noticeable side effects. I'll be staying on this medication for the next 6 months, and I will provide further details at the end of the dosage period."

"I have high cholesterol, heart trouble (80% blockages). Best prescription med I've ever had to take, absolutely no bad side effects but several positive ones: improved mood, no DES, some weight loss, reduced aches and pains, haven't experienced a bit of angina since I began taking it."

"Hypertriglycerides 450 - 500. Exercise, weight loss, and diet change made little difference. Started Vascepa four months ago. It lowered my bad numbers by 50%. I feel better than I have in the past 10 years. Side benefits: My skin is smooth and softer, with fine lines reduced, and I seem to have more energy. I highly, highly recommend Vascepa."

"Vascepa has kept my triglycerides in check for years. Sometimes it might be borderline with diet, but overall, I'm usually in the safe zone. No side effects and packaging presents no problems. No fish burp. Great drug."

"My triglycerides and LDL cholesterol have improved significantly. My dry eyes have also improved significantly while on Vascepa. I highly recommend Vascepa. I feel happy and healthy knowing Vascepa is helping me with my cardiovascular health. I feel like it is money well spent to improve my health."

"I had TGs of 482 - 525 in 2012. I tried to get them under control but could not, despite exercise and diet. I tried Lovaza in 2012, but it spiked my LDL-s by 40%, and my doc was very concerned, so I stopped (plus fishy stink, burps, etc.). Then I tried samples of Vascepa, wow! No fish taste whatsoever. My TGs fell by 40%, and I felt better than ever (mood, strength, less aches, and my dry eye ceased! My LDL-C dropped 305 as well. It's a miracle for me. I looked at OTC, but it was far more expensive than a 49 co-pay coupon and worried about unknown ingredients, toxins. I highly recommend this medicine. No side effects - zero!"

"Digger, I feel the same way. My legs feel like I have 20-pound weights on them, and when I walk, I feel like I want to fall forward. Strange feeling. We are monitoring me throughout the night to make sure it is just side effects from the meds. Head feels stuffy, feel like the flu almost."

"My doctor prescribed this drug to lower my triglycerides. My numbers went from over 1400 down to 425 in three months. I continue to take this drug and have seen an additional drop in my triglyceride numbers. I have had angioplasty with a cardiac stent and have been diagnosed with CAD, also Type 2 diabetes, so I know the importance of getting my cholesterol under control. The drug is rather expensive, though."

"Triglyceride levels were 508. Doctor prescribed VASCEPA 6 months ago. Did another doctor visit and detailed blood report shows triglycerides lowered to 205. There is no change to my diet and exercise routine, so VASCEPA is the only change. Will continue to take for the next 3 months."

"Vascepa gives me severe headaches. Very first time I took it was only for two days, and then the next three days I was taking Advil or Tylenol to reduce my pain. During this time, I stopped taking the drug. Then, after 4 days, I started again, and within hours of taking the nightly dose, I started the headache again."

"My triglyceride levels were consistently above 220. After three months of Vascepa (4 grams/day), my triglyceride levels dropped to 62. The next test showed the levels at 67. No noticeable side effects."

"I have been on this medicine for about 8 months. After the first week, I experienced muscle pain in my legs and ankles. I started taking 200 mg of CoQ10 daily, and I have no more aches anywhere. I highly recommend CoQ10 with Vascepa."

"My triglycerides were over 350. After taking 1 gram for 3 months, triglycerides are 120. This drug works. Still taking it. The only side effect has been bruising on my arms. When I took 2 a day, I had muscle pain. Went down to 1 a day, working great."

"When I started on Vascepa, my fasting triglyceride level was 1,170! In 2 weeks, they dropped to 261! My HDL cholesterol slightly improved from 20 to 28, total cholesterol dropped from 255 down to 166! My blood pressure also dropped from 160/110 to 130/82. This medication has also helped improve my vision at night. One thing I will note: this medication does thin your blood some, at least in my experience, but overall, I am completely side effect-free. This product is expensive, costing me around $220 a coupon."

"So I’ve been on Vascepa for a while, but due to a job change and insurance change, I had to stop! The first time I was on it, I was super gassy and bloated and had diarrhea here and there, nothing horrible. But I just got back on it about three weeks ago, and now my muscles hurt. Like I ran a 10K at full speed without stretching or warming up! And since I started back on, I’ve noticed I have to pee badly, like my bladder is gonna explode or I’m about to pee myself. I haven’t seen this as a side effect, but it started after two weeks. I guess I’ll have to talk to my doc. But if anyone else has this issue, please like or comment. I’m curious!"

"I was recently prescribed Vascepa for high triglycerides. I have been highly impressed with its ability to stop inflammation and pain from my multiple sclerosis. I am eagerly waiting to see how well Vascepa lowers my triglycerides at the next doctor visit. This medicine is great and minus the issues associated with DHA. Meaning no a-fib or palpitations and tachycardia. As pure as pure is and well worth the money! Vascepa is a wonder drug. Thank you, Amarin Pharmaceuticals."

"I am 39 years old and have had triglyceride and cholesterol problems since my 20s. I tried multiple statins and experienced muscle pain side effects with them all. One year ago, I was prescribed Vascepa with Lipitor (my third try). I now have no side effects from Lipitor, and my triglycerides are much lower, as well as my cholesterol. After about 6 months, I started experiencing symptoms of low blood pressure. I have been on blood pressure medication for over 15 years due to high BP. What I found is that I no longer needed BP meds to keep my BP at 120/80 or less, and I can only attribute the change to the Vascepa and Lipitor combo because my shift work lifestyle hasn't changed, as well as my other bad habits of eating."

"Does not help. I was on Vascepa 1 gram, 2 pills x 2 times per day. I worked out 5x per week, ate very healthy, and triglycerides were getting higher while on Vascepa. I got better results while on OTC meds."

"Started with the recommended dose of 2 Vascepa twice a day. After about 4 months, the pain started in the hip - couldn't even lay on that side. To take a daily walk needed a support pole as pain would come suddenly. Went off, cleared up. Also, ringing in ears increased and 8 lb weight gain. Went off Vascepa - most side effects cleared up. Tried half dose a few months later. All side effects--plus came back. Never again! I am a female in my late 60s."

"I find that when my mother-in-law goes on Vascepa, her memory takes a severe downturn. I am in charge of her meds, so I know exactly what she takes and when. I know cholesterol has a role in storing memories, so I guess this could make sense."

"After 2 months of Vascepa, 2 caps twice daily, had an occurrence of gout, which I didn't associate with Vascepa usage. Also, developed a progressive problem with shortness of breath, which started mildly and grew severe. Decided to review Vascepa side effects since it was the only drug added to my normal regime of meds. Appears 'gouty arthritis' and SOB are listed as patient side effects. I've discontinued use. The plasma 1/2 life of Vascepa is 89 hours, so it remains in the blood extremely long and is not excreted through the kidneys. Vascepa may have helped my high triglycerides, I will never know since side effects outweigh possible benefits."

"Cardiologist prescribed generic Vascepa because I have high triglycerides and suffer real bad allergic reactions to all statins. Took the Vascepa for 2 weeks and experienced terrible muscular pains similar to those from statins (although the doctor says the two drugs don't work the same). Then discovered at several medical sites with authority that Vascepa works when taken alongside special diet and exercise programs. Also takes 5 years to see any beneficial results equal to the original research numbers. So, waste of money and pain to swallow 4 'horse pills' daily, especially if you are age 77 like me, with probably only another 5 good years of life left before nature takes its course on the average human body."
