Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "30 mg was good, but 40 mg took my pain away, it was heaven. Except that 40 mg made me so tired and drowsy that all I did was sleep. I couldn't function, so that's not acceptable. I would go to bed at 7 PM and wake up at 4 PM the next day! So I'm going back to 30 mg with breakthrough meds. But here is the thing I can't figure out... I take up to 10-15 mg hydrocodone for breakthrough pain ON TOP of my Hysingla ER 30, but that doesn't make me sleepy, it actually kind of keeps me up at night. How bizarre is that? It's the same dosage but reacts completely different. That annoys me because the 40 worked perfectly!!! Except for the severe drowsiness. How can Hysingla ER 40 mg be so much more sedating than Hysingla ER 30 mg with 10-15 mg hydrocodone on top???"

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I'm having a terrible time with the Hysingla. The 40 mg was so strong I couldn't function. I've been on 30 mg for a week. The headaches, I'm tired all the time, cramping. Overall, I feel like crap. I have nothing for breakout pain but Tylenol. I understand why doctors prescribe this because of abuse, but I have only taken what's prescribed. It's bad enough that I'm actually on a forum complaining."

Zohydro ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "My pain doctor put me on Zohydro after I tried Hysingla (worked great for a couple of weeks, then only lasted about 8-12 hours - which can't work for a once every 24-hour medicine) and after I had been on Percocet and hydrocodone at varying dosages and frequencies. I've had chronic back pain for 5+ years. I'm so glad I got to try this medicine, it has changed my life. It's very expensive ($300+ per prescription before meeting my deductible), but it's totally worth it in my mind. It doesn't give you the annoying 'high' that you get from short-acting pain medication, no fuzzy thoughts, no exhaustion. Medicine usually lasts the prescribed 12 hours and takes about 50-80% pain level away."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "Hysingla really keeps the pain level from my fibromyalgia in check. I no longer feel I am on a pain scale roller coaster. I stay around a 3-4 most days. Others sometimes a 6, but no longer am I at an 8-20 on the pain scale. I also love that I don't feel dopey or tired from the Hysingla version like with Norco."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I have 3 herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and osteoarthritis. I suffer from constant pain every day. I've been on Norco 10/325 4x a day for 3 years now and never abused my medication. A few months ago, my doctor had me try Hysingla ER 40 mg. This medication only lasts about 17 hours and gave me about 30-40% relief with random breakthrough pain. Plus, I felt lethargic the entire day, nauseous, constipated, anxious, and excessive yawning. After putting up with it for two months, I talked with my doctor, and he switched me back to the Norco. So disappointed. I had high hopes for this medication since it was one pill every 24 hours. It just does not work as promised and is expensive."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I’ve been suffering from chronic pain for 6 years now due to 3 lumbar herniated discs and osteoarthritis. I’ve been taking Norco 10/325 4 times a day with okay relief. Recently, my doctor had me try Hysingla 40 mg, and honestly, it just doesn’t work! It only lasts about 16-18 hours, and it made me feel very lethargic, anxious, and I would have a lot of breakthrough pain throughout the day, plus it was $413!! My insurance refused to cover it. After talking with my doctor, he switched me to MS Contin. That medication so far has worked so much better than any other extended-release opioid. If you suffer from chronic pain, I recommend you try MS Contin. It works great, and it’s very cheap even without insurance."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "Been on Hysingla for 6 months now; this is my 3rd posting about the experience. I'm using 40 mg ER and have given up. Just too darn tired all the time and 12/24 hours still in back pain, so what the hell, I'm gonna ask the Dr to put me back on 10/325 Percs 4 times daily."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "24-hour medicine for pain. I only got 6 hours of minimal relief. Started on the 20 mg for 1 month, then Dr. switched me to 40 mg for 1 month, then 30 mg for 1 month. It always seemed to start working long after I took it, about 12 hours, and made me extremely sleepy and tired, along with pain. In the 3 months I took it, I gained 15 pounds without even eating more or differently because I was constantly nauseous with it. Who wants food when queasy? I have been prescribed an instant release pain med and have been on it for 2 days. It works great with no side effects, and I have lost the 7 lbs of the 15 that Hysingla made me gain. Hopefully, the other 8 lbs will come off quickly too because the weight gain from the drug caused my A1C to go"

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "This is an update to my posting late Jan. Now, after 4 months of titration, I'm at 40 mg. But disappointed. I could sleep 12 hours each night if allowed to, constantly tired. And taking a new Hysingla pill every 15-18 hours for bleed-through pain. Definitely missing my old four times a day Percs, but I'd be doubling up on those too, I'm sure. So, Dr. says live with it. Pain level at 2. But never any better. And that's disappointing. Dr. won't go higher."

Zohydro ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "After three years of taking oxycodone 10 ER and oxycodone 5 IR for three cervical anterior and posterior with instrumentation, I asked my spine doctor to change me to Zohydro ER. The oxy was making me sick to my stomach, and I was dizzy and tired. I have to report that after a few months on the Zohydro ER, I was able to transition to not only getting off the oxy but I am almost pill-free and pain-free. I am so grateful for Zohydro ER. I was afraid I was getting addicted to the oxycodone, and with the Zohydro ER, I had no feeling of euphoria. I am so grateful. Thank you for giving me back my life."
