Zohydro ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I have taken many different pain relievers since a gunshot wound in 1995... OxyContin, Morphine, Dilaudid, Fentanyl, and Norco. I have finally found one that works perfectly for me. Zohydro ER 40 mg, with Norco 10 mg for breakthrough, gives me excellent pain relief. Although the Zohydro does not last for the entire 12 hrs, the Norco steps right in there and does the job. I am able to work, eat, drive, and sleep. I wouldn't trade it for the others I have taken because their positives do not outweigh their negatives as with the Zo's. I started on the Zo ER 15 mg about 2 yrs ago and have gradually been upgraded to 40 mg. I'm satisfied, so no need for 50 mg as of now."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "My doc prescribed me 20 mg of Hysingla, and this has to be the most useless drug I've ever been prescribed. I have extreme spinal stenosis, and this pain med not only was hard to get, but it was super expensive as well. Like $200! My insurance wouldn't touch this drug! I experienced no pain relief with this drug, and I took it for 2 months. I finally put my foot down and told the doc this med just doesn't work and to quit playing around giving me these useless medications and to give me something that works. I'm now on 10 mg of Percocet, and it helps me get through the workday. Heck of a lot better than useless Hysingla."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I have just started this medication, 120 mg once daily, was on OxyContin ER 80 mg 2x day, with morphine 30 mg 3x day as needed. I have multiple disc herniations/stenosis in all three areas of the spine, failed cervical fusion, tendonitis in left and right shoulder, knee, etc. I have had multiple pain issues since the age of 30 and have had other pain treatments including injections, bilateral rhizotomies, gangliotomies. Granted, I have just started this rx after my insurance carrier decided not to pay for OxyContin 80 mg bid. I've gotten pretty good relief so far, since I was truly hesitant after reading these reviews, but so far it is no better or no worse than Oxy 80. I have had no major side effects, so I'm pretty satisfied so far."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I have 3 herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and osteoarthritis. I suffer from constant pain every day. I've been on Norco 10/325 4x a day for 3 years now and never abused my medication. A few months ago, my doctor had me try Hysingla ER 40 mg. This medication only lasts about 17 hours and gave me about 30-40% relief with random breakthrough pain. Plus, I felt lethargic the entire day, nauseous, constipated, anxious, and excessive yawning. After putting up with it for two months, I talked with my doctor, and he switched me back to the Norco. So disappointed. I had high hopes for this medication since it was one pill every 24 hours. It just does not work as promised and is expensive."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "Due to the new laws passed that are taking effect in 2017, your doctor can no longer prescribe the massive amounts of opiates they had been for years. In my state now, the first time for pain management (like having surgery, for example) is 3 days maximum. After that, 7 days maximum can only be prescribed except in some listed situations, such as end-stage cancer patients. They must change from the short-acting narcotics to the 24-hour release, which is meant to stop addiction because you don't get the high rush from the extended release. I suggest you all research your own state's new prescribing laws and contact your representative. You will soon all need to deal with this. Most, like me, with zero notice. The drug works okay, with zero 'high.'"

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I have been taking Hysingla 20 mg for a month. I was taking Norco 5-325 up to 4 a day for chronic back pain post-6 surgeries. I was switched to Hysingla due to elevated liver enzymes from Tylenol. I have bile duct structure and do what I can to keep liver enzymes lower. I only took what I absolutely had to daily of Norco, averaging 2 Norco a day. Since I have started the Hysingla, I have had a moderately severe headache and nausea every day. I'm not sure which is worse, the liver pain or headache. The nausea I tolerate. I have decided to stop taking the Hysingla and go back to the Norco. I would rather take as little as possible of medication and still be in pain than have an increase in pain and be flat on my back for 6 hours with a headache."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I've been on Norco, 5x a day with 4 Nucynta for about 8 years. I don't want to get doped up on some insanely strong opiate that makes me sleepy and unable to function. I am able to get things done on this current regimen. I have multi-level cervical herniations, C6-C7 fusion, and suffer from fibromyalgia. No fun. My doctor switched me to Hysingla 40 mg with two 7.5 Lortab with Tylenol to reduce my overall Tylenol intake. He wants to protect my liver, which I totally agree with. 30 minutes after I took the Hysingla ER, my mouth became dry, my blood pressure shot way up to stroke range, and I felt like death warmed over. I have taken just about every pain med at one time or another for any of my 7 surgeries, and I have never felt this bad because of an ER med. This Hysingla med made me feel bad enough to go to the hospital."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I’ve been suffering from chronic pain for 6 years now due to 3 lumbar herniated discs and osteoarthritis. I’ve been taking Norco 10/325 4 times a day with okay relief. Recently, my doctor had me try Hysingla 40 mg, and honestly, it just doesn’t work! It only lasts about 16-18 hours, and it made me feel very lethargic, anxious, and I would have a lot of breakthrough pain throughout the day, plus it was $413!! My insurance refused to cover it. After talking with my doctor, he switched me to MS Contin. That medication so far has worked so much better than any other extended-release opioid. If you suffer from chronic pain, I recommend you try MS Contin. It works great, and it’s very cheap even without insurance."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "Pain dr gave this to my son that lives in chronic severe pain for a year, then his insurance changed, and he couldn't afford $600 a month. He always told me, Dad, this stuff doesn't help with pain at all, and when he gradually ran out, he did not have any withdrawals from not having it! If it had worked, he certainly would be missing it!"

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I haven't taken this Rx for long, but it definitely is *not* the best option if you have no breakthrough meds. I'm on 30 mg, which is to last 24 hours. I'd say it does for 18. It's not horrible, but I do think people will keep complaining until they are on a higher dose. The oral bioavailability of this drug is actually lower than Norco. I take Norco 10/325 tid, and combined with the Hysingla, it's not the worst... but I feel little relief during the day. It does, however, help me a bit at night. I think docs need to give higher doses than what they are of this med because it's a 24-hour med... 30 mg in 24 hours is not a lot. Well, at least I have my Norco 10/325 to help. Also, I think this med would work better if taken twice daily! But not the worst med!"

Zohydro ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "This medication works very well, and I've had no side effects that I wasn't already having by taking Norco. It's very effective and keeps my pain from getting too high, so I don't require a lot of other pills to bring my pain level down. The only thing I don't like is that my insurance declined my coverage, stating they didn't feel it was needed. How my insurance can determine that is crazy. My doctor prescribed it for a reason. Love this medication. I'm able to function and work and am never sleepy at work."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "Dr. prescribed to me and did not emphasize that my COPD was going to be so affected that I went into respiratory arrest after only my second dose of 80 mg hydrocodone. Spent 3 weeks in the hospital, and then I had C. diff for close to two years from antibiotics taken for this. All in all, I believe this medicine was targeted to poor people on Medicaid (they were the only insurance accepted for Hysingla), and it came close to destroying my life. I only hope the Dr. responsible is no longer able to practice due to the number of complaints against him."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "Been on Hysingla for 6 months now; this is my 3rd posting about the experience. I'm using 40 mg ER and have given up. Just too darn tired all the time and 12/24 hours still in back pain, so what the hell, I'm gonna ask the Dr to put me back on 10/325 Percs 4 times daily."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I've been taking 4 hydrocodone 10-325 for years and still hurt no matter what, have to count pills so can't take 5 or 6 a day. Now they put me on Hysingla ER 30 mg. 1 pill a day but still hurt 24-7 and can't get any more help."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I'm currently on oxycodone 5 mg 3 times a day. I talked with my Dr about the extended-release option, and he prescribed Hysingla 20 mg for 24 hours. I had high hopes for this because I was hoping for continued pain relief. When my insurance finally approved me for this medication, I was happy, that was until I took my first few day's doses. It was just too strong, and I felt nauseous and sick the whole time I was on this medication. I was going to see my Dr the next month to get back my regular prescription. Hopefully, something will come on the market that works for 24 hours without making me sick."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "Hysingla was offered to me at a pain clinic. It was not really medically necessary, in my opinion. The cost of this medication would be $7,000 to $8,000 per year for my insurance plan portion and my own portion together. You may want to know, be aware of how much your plan has to pay and not just yourself. Further, your insurance could stop payment if they consider this drug just too expensive. I would like to know why a physician or P.A. would order this particular drug if it wasn't absolutely medically necessary, just sort of a suggestion for some small reason, and a very expensive suggestion. It seems extreme due to the high cost. Also, I would like to see the company that makes this drug publish to the public their open payments made to providers or institutions and the reason for the payment."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "24-hour medicine for pain. I only got 6 hours of minimal relief. Started on the 20 mg for 1 month, then Dr. switched me to 40 mg for 1 month, then 30 mg for 1 month. It always seemed to start working long after I took it, about 12 hours, and made me extremely sleepy and tired, along with pain. In the 3 months I took it, I gained 15 pounds without even eating more or differently because I was constantly nauseous with it. Who wants food when queasy? I have been prescribed an instant release pain med and have been on it for 2 days. It works great with no side effects, and I have lost the 7 lbs of the 15 that Hysingla made me gain. Hopefully, the other 8 lbs will come off quickly too because the weight gain from the drug caused my A1C to go"

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "My doctor just switched me from 30 mg of MS Contin to Hysingla 20 mg once a day. Mind you, I have been taking the same thing for over 4 years. This Hysingla is a joke! After 3 hours, I was in so much pain I thought I was dying! Felt like I was going to be sick, and not from the medicine, it was because I was in so much pain. Whoever said this lasts for 24 hours is completely ridiculous. Worst ever!"

For Pain "I've been up the ladder on pain meds. I have had chronic pain for 20 years. I would just like to say OxyContin and hydrocodone are one and the same, however, the mg is key. I am 5'7" and 140 lb. and have found 10 mg AM and 10 mg PM has had the most positive effect on me, and I have tried Percodan as well as morphine, 30 mg three times daily, Vicodin, and an array of others. The hydrocodone 10 mg x daily has won hands down. I will add no prescription will remove pain 100%."

For Pain "In reference to Painwithoutend's review, I could not agree with you more. I don't know what is going on, but all the hydrocodone, no matter the brand, is absolute trash. It does nothing for pain and gives you this weird sickish feeling, terrible heartburn, and worst of all, ringing in the ears plus sensitivity to a certain level of audio decibels. Not even loudness, normal noises, like a dog barking. With every bark, my ears pulsate and rumble to the noise. I believe all this junk is not being quality tested, apparently, they can do whatever the heck they want because obviously, our FDA doesn't give a you know what. The manufacturers know they'll never be caught. We literally have the densest government operations on the planet. Most inspection audits do NOT announce when they're coming or give you a three-week notice to get everything up to snuff before they come! WHO does that? They should be dropping in unannounced if they cared about the U.S. citizens that rely on this medication to somewhat function!"

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I am a 70-year-old female diagnosed with a condition, a vascular neurosis. Due to the opioid crisis, I was told I could no longer use Norco. I was looking for a medication to help with narcotic Norco withdrawal, as I knew this would be an issue. I was prescribed Hysingla, 80 mg. After starting to experience breathing issues along with all the other side effects, I have decided to get off of Hysingla. I am under doctor guidance and tapering slowly. BTW, Hysingla NEVER HELPED WITH PAIN... but it did slightly help with withdrawals. Also, I never had any lung disorders... and now I do! I am seeing a pulmonologist and he said Hysingla was the worst drug ever. I also talked with my other doctors, and they said it was very “wicked.” (This includes both a hematologist and oncologist.) In their opinion, it should be taken off the market. I believe my primary doctor was trying to help me because of the opioid crisis. I implore anyone who decides to use Hysingla to do the research."

Zohydro ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I am a paraplegic after a spinal cord injury when I had a wreck in 2001. For the first few years, the pain was there, but I could manage. Then it became so bad that I would lie in bed crying, unable to sleep or do anything. It ruled my life. After trying nearly every pain med out there, I finally found Zohydro by researching hydrocodone without acetaminophen. It has worked wonders, and I’m not constantly worried about withdrawals. My insurance just changed and won’t cover it now, and I can’t pay for it. Really wish they would come out with a generic!"

Zohydro ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "I have been taking hydrocodone for over 18 years due to a lower back injury (bulging lower disc), wear & tear from 25 years of factory work & fibromyalgia (associated with those 25 years). I'm 62, retired, & still very physically active. After 2 hours of medium heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling, I feel like a truck has run me over... head to toe. I have taken many pain medications... OxyContin, Vicodin, morphine, tramadol (poison!), Lyrica (poison!), etc. After many years, what finally worked best was 6 7.5/200 Vicoprofen a day + a fentanyl 25 mcg patch every 3 days. After 2 years, my doctor switched me to Zohydro. I said sure. After just ONE DAY, I'm feeling GREAT! I take two 30 mg Zohydros a day + Vicoprofen for breakthrough. I have only taken three 7.5 pills today! WORKS."

Hysingla ER (hydrocodone) for Pain "Hysingla ER is just another lie! This medicine takes forever to work. Way overpriced! And Hysingla messes with your intestines, causing your bowel movement to become almost like clay. The maker will never tell the full adverse effects to your body."
