For Osteoarthritis "My first round of Orthovisc I was told would last 6 to 9 months for my bone-on-bone knee pain. The shots were painless, and I was pain-free for two years. Now I am back for my second round. It sure beats knee replacement, which was my only other option. I am having pain again, so I am ready for round two. Hope it lasts as long this time. I highly recommend it."

For Osteoarthritis "I received one injection in both knees for four weeks a month ago. Have RA, OA, and had tibia plateau fixation in both legs in 2009 after a car hit me. The injections did not give me any kind of pain relief at all. As a matter of fact, today, my right knee feels worse than before the injections because it's hurting even though I didn't walk or stand up…"

For Osteoarthritis "This is my 3rd time for injections, but it has been 7 yrs. since the last one. The shots hurt so much I cried. (I am 66 and need replacement surgery.) The doc did the injections with my knees bent, he said, because the cartilage is gone and it creates a bigger space. It's been 5 hrs since the injections. Feels better, icing every hour. Hope next week is better."

For Osteoarthritis "Osteoarthritis in the right knee eventually led to bone on bone. After my last scope in November 2015, the pain persisted to where I had a steroid injection. It relieved some of the pain for 2 months (considered non-effective according to FDA), then the excruciating pain returned. The last nonsurgical option was Orthovisc, which all 3 injections were very painful. I didn't experience relief until 2-3 weeks after the last injection. I have been pain-free, with an occasional very brief episode (seconds) of some pain. Now it's October 2017, and it's been wearing off. But 12 months' worth of no pain was definitely worth it. So glad I toughed it out!"

For Osteoarthritis "I just had my second injection on 12/2-one more on 12/9. The first injection was very painful, and my knee was sore for two days. The second injection did not hurt at all, and my knee was fine immediately after. This knee pain has been going on for two years, and I finally have relief. I'm just hoping it lasts longer than six months. I would definitely advise anybody who has this problem to at least try it. It is working for me!"

For Osteoarthritis "Orthovisc was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. The doctor said this would help my osteoarthritis, but it is much worse than when we started. The first shot was very painful, the second was much worse. The doctor convinced me to have all four shots. Now I can hardly walk, in constant pain. So sorry I had the Orthovisc shots. They should be off the market."

For Osteoarthritis "I have arthritis in both knees. One is severe, bone-on-bone, the other is moderate. So they started injections in my left knee first, as the right one wasn't bothering me too much, as the cortisone shots were still slightly effective. So I got two shots-not too bad as far as pain. I went to get the third one, and the doctor didn't take her time like before to find just the right spot, and she injected me. As soon as she started putting the fluid into my knee, I felt a burning liquid feeling going from the injection site (the outside of my knee to the inside of my knee). It didn't stop there. It felt as if she put more in, like my knee was going to explode out the side. I was not expecting that. I just held my breath, and when she was done, I said, 'Wow, that hurt. Why?'"

For Osteoarthritis "11-23-15 I got shot #1 of Orthovisc. The shot itself was not painful, but afterwards, the pain became intense. There was swelling, redness at the injection site, and at times, excruciating pain. 11-30-15 I was given a cortisone shot to get the reaction under control. 12-3-15 I got shot #2. The injection wasn't painful, but afterwards, it was horrible. There was redness at the injection site; swelling from the thigh to the ankle; fatigue; weakness; mild edema; body-wide pain, with arthritis-type pain in my joints and the excruciating pain in the knee. 12-7-15 Given a prescription for Prednisone. Did not receive shot #3. Finally, for the last couple of days, I can say the symptoms are about half gone. 1-29-16 Do your research."

For Osteoarthritis "I don't know if this has anything to do with Orthovisc, but I have had continual shortness of breath, exhaustion, and waves of nausea, especially following the second dose (I had 4). These symptoms have continued for weeks, and the hospital and doctors can find no other cause."

For Osteoarthritis "I have bone-on-bone in my left knee, so bad I was ready for a replacement. My Dr. suggested we 'give the shots a shot', if they don't work, we'll take the next step. He is an expert at giving shots to the knee as I felt no pain, just a bit of pressure as he did each injection. At first, I was very disappointed as I didn't feel any difference. About a month and a half after we finished the series, I noticed I had no pain in my knee! It lasted about a year, going in for another 3 shots next month. Dr. says it works for some, but not all, and I'm glad I 'gave it a shot'."

For Osteoarthritis "My first injection was easy peasy, the second injection, easy peasy. I'm currently on the 3rd injection, and it has been a killer. It feels like the space in between my bone was separating, it was an odd, painful feeling and hurts 2 days later. I have swelling on top of my knee and around the injection site. However, this knee has been a mess since my arthroscopic surgery last year, so this could have something to do with excessive swelling. I'm hoping this will give me my life back. UPDATE: I had to do the 4th injection a week later than planned and, oh my gosh, what a godsend! This injection felt like my 1st injection (easy peasy). I highly recommend taking a week break between the 3rd and 4th injections. My ortho told me I won't see real benefit for several weeks. I currently can walk without excruciating pain."

For Osteoarthritis "I received my first set a year ago as I have no kneecap. Afterwards, I was able to do physical therapy. I was able to do exercise that I hadn't done since I was a child. This medication lasted a year. I started to feel the same pain about a month or so ago. I contacted my Dr., and we are doing it again. This injection has made such a difference in my life. I am very grateful for it."

For Osteoarthritis "I started the 3 injections and finished on Jan 16th. No good results! Pain worse than when I started. My good knee hurts, and also my hips. I would never recommend these injections to anyone I know. I read the good reviews and took a chance."

For Osteoarthritis "I started the knee injection on July 31, 2018, and completed 3 injections in both knees on Sept 5, 2018. 5 weeks since my last injection and knees are greatly improved. I am 71 years old. The weeks prior to this week were worrisome. I was thinking they were not going to work. But this week has shown great improvement. I started riding my three-wheel bicycle, and that has helped a lot. I would highly recommend the injections, however, I would add, listen to your doctor and rest for 48 hours and go slow. Expect it to take several weeks to show improvement. Well worth it."

For Osteoarthritis "I was switched to Orthovisc last three years from Supartz the previous seven years. Insurance will not supply Supartz. With Supartz, seven weekly injections gave me tremendous relief for a full year. Orthovisc, with seven injections, lasted less than six months. Same relief, but less duration. Last year, I had fourteen injections in my 'bad knee' and six in my 'not as bad knee,' divided every six months. Within ten months, I was in pain and very limited mobility. The only redeeming factor of Orthovisc is my co-payment for ten injections is $13.33 total."

For Osteoarthritis "The pain has gotten worse in both knees. I have a hard time walking, standing, even sitting too long. I wake up throughout the night in pain. I had only a small amount of back pain through the injection and some headaches, which all stopped 2 to 3 days after the injection. But the pain has been going on for 6 weeks with no relief."

For Osteoarthritis "Did not work for my minimal OA! I was left with Orthovisc as my only alternative after my insurance company decided they would no longer cover Euflexxa, which I used with great success for 4 years. I will now have to pay almost $1000 out of pocket for the better product, such a shame! Orthovisc gave me no relief at all; the Euflexxa I was getting 18 months of continuous relief."

For Osteoarthritis "I just started my second round of Orthovisc. The first round was administered by the surgeon and was tolerable. I had my first shot of my second round last week by a non-operative orthopedist because the surgeons within this practice will no longer perform shots, and this first shot was unbearable. My knee is killing me, so much worse than before the shot. Not sure I will continue tomorrow for the second. I have been bone on bone for 4 years, and they refuse to operate because of other underlying orthopedic issues. I really cannot say it was super beneficial the first time, but wanted to give it another try being in severe pain. I think it depends on the individual, as everyone is different."

For Osteoarthritis "I've had continuous knee problems and really want to share my story because hopefully doctors and insurance will see Orthovisc as more of an acceptable treatment for younger people. I had Orthovisc injections 5 years ago and was pain-free for about 4 years. As far as I can tell, I've had no side effects, and after all the failed physical therapy and failed cortisone injections that left scar tissue, I was so happy with the pain relief Orthovisc left me in both my knees and the life I was able to lead without pain. Now that I'm trying to get Orthovisc injections again, I'm being told that it's not an option. That I have to start from square one with physical therapy and cortisone. Unfortunately, my options are cortisone and surgery. Hopefully my review on Orthovisc will spread and more people may share their stories about it. Hopefully one day there will be enough success stories that Orthovisc or similar treatments become more accepted by doctors and insurance."

For Osteoarthritis "I had been getting steroid injections in both knees (arthroscopic medial meniscus in both) that worked for approximately 6-8 months. I just had Orthovisc 2 weeks ago, and I'm very impressed with the results. I've been on my legs for 3 days building fences, and I just realized how pain-free my knees have been. I will wait to see how long it lasts, but I will do this before even considering new knees."

For Osteoarthritis "Unfortunately, the three injections in my knee have done nothing to alleviate the pain. In fact, it is three weeks after all shots, and my knee is slightly worse than before. I am hoping that by six months, when it wears off for those who experienced excellent results, for me, it will be back to 'normal.' Perhaps another brand will work better for me. The first shot did not hurt at all, but after two days, it became very painful, so much so I could not sleep. It did finally settle down, but I did consider not finishing the shots at all. The second was somewhat painful and left a small bruise. The third was just a little painful. Before the shots, I wore a knee brace during the day and do that now, too. My doctor says I am not a candidate for replacement surgery."

For Osteoarthritis "Be positive. If you're in your forties when your pain starts, you are very, very lucky. I'm 24. So far, I have had one shot in each knee. They were both painful, but nothing I can't handle because let's face it, we're getting these painful shots because we have a yet more painful condition. In the end, mine were fine, but my doctor did use Lidocaine, which he injected first. I have already had the cortisone injections, and trust me, these Orthovisc ones start working a lot faster (but you really get out your cane the first two days after the shot, I warn you)."

For Osteoarthritis "At my first three injections on my right knee, it didn't work right away, but now, two weeks after, what a relief in pain from a 10 to a 2. Now I asked to do my left knee, I can't bend it when I walk. Hope it works, then I won't limp when I walk. Excited."
