For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I have been laying here all night after taking Mucinex D. My brain won’t shut down. I am wide awake. Mucinex D does help with nasal congestion. I do not have the jitters or the racing heart. After reading the other reviews, I know now why I can’t sleep. UGH!"

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I've been plugged up literally for years and had found no relief until now. I had tried everything from frequently rinsing my sinuses with a neti pot system to prescriptions such as Nasonex, warm/moist heating pads, other over-the-counter medicines, etc. At this moment, I feel pretty great. I took my first Mucinex D tab yesterday late afternoon and my second one this morning. My nose feels completely clear, the pressure behind my eyes is gone, my head feels normal for once... even my ears feel less plugged and are not clicking and popping nearly as much as usual. I'm surprised I have not had the insomnia and jitters that it seems most others have experienced. No unpleasant side effects so far. I highly recommend this! The relief is worth the $$."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "Started taking this a week ago because of terrible congestion in my head and chest along with RX Tessalon Perles. I'd taken something years before with the same ingredients as Mucinex that helped immensely and thought that the money was worth it. I've been on it a week, every twelve hours, and haven't been able to sleep more than five hours a night (about 4 a.m. after taking it at midnight until 9 a.m.). I still have terrible congestion with heavy thick mucus. Just finally realized about thirty minutes ago that the Mucinex is the only change. I can't rest, and with the added jitters and insomnia, I feel worse than before. I wish I hadn't taken it to begin with."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "Calmed that annoying every 30-second cough, but I barely slept a wink! I'm really happy to have relief from the cough, so I can't complain too much. No jitters or anxiety - but I'm up at 5 a.m. googling 'does Mucinex DM keep you awake' lol it does absolutely keep you up, it is the pseudoephedrine ingredient. I wouldn’t recommend the nightly dosage if you want to sleep at all, just in the morning. Had quite a few hot flashes as well. Kept wanting to turn the air conditioner down lower than ever?"

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "Bad case of bronchitis and sinus pressure. I took Mucinex DM, 1 pill every 12 hours, for a week. I would fall asleep fine but wake up 3-4 hours later and could not get back to sleep. I ran out of DM, and for the last few days took the Mucinex D instead. Not much sleep the first night, NO sleep at all last night combined with a lot of post-nasal drip and the jitters. So glad I finally figured it out, as I'm a walking zombie right now. I will never take Mucinex D past the morning hours again."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "Thankful I found this site to calm my nerves. I took Mucinex D around 11 PM and fell asleep for about an hour, woke up to my whole body shaking. Of course, started to think of the worst, so made the shakes worse. Then realized it was a part of the side effects of Mucinex D. I will no longer be taking."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "For those experiencing nervousness and jitters, just keep in mind pseudoephedrine is a stimulant drug similar to amphetamine and methamphetamine. All cold drug names with a 'D' after them have pseudoephedrine, so get the same drug without the 'D' in its name."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "My mom caught the cold I have just beaten, and it affected her much worse. After consulting a doctor/friend, she recommended trying Mucinex 12 hour. At around 7 PM, she took two 600 mg tablets. She reported being awake all night with heart palpitations, jitters, and a pounding headache. She also threw up in the middle of the night and feels nauseous again this morning. The cough is coming back as the Mucinex wears off. The drug worked to stop the coughing, but the side effects can be hard on some."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I took this around 9 PM, it is now 4:26 AM, and I have not been able to sleep at all! I have extreme dry mouth and jitters. I really wish this was specified on the box or mentioned by my doctor. I just want this out of my body! I will NOT be taking this again. This is just a reminder of why I typically DO NOT take medicine."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I took one around 7:30 at night, and I’ve probably slept a few hours. I already have bad anxiety and a panic disorder, so this just pushed my anxiety through the roof. My nose feels so much better, but having this feeling is not worth it at all. I have the jitters, heart racing, and almost full panic attack. For others with this problem, I don’t recommend taking it at night and just be super cautious during the day. I’ll be staring at the wall for the next couple of hours, waiting for this to pass."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I've had pretty bad sinus congestion start and bronchitis is going around my family, so I immediately got on Mucinex. The regular Mucinex wasn't doing anything for me (blue box). I bought the maximum strength D, and it's been a game changer. I can breathe through my nose, and I don't feel plugged up at all. I had no trouble sleeping last night, BUT I also have to take melatonin to sleep every night, so maybe it offset the jitters some people report. I'm very happy with it. I will keep taking it until this is gone."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I took it at about 5 PM today when my cough was getting worse. It is now 5:30 AM, and I haven't slept one bit. I am so jittery, nauseous, and dizzy. My heart is racing, and my whole body is shaking. My cough is significantly better, but the fact that I will not be getting sleep tonight for even a minute is quite the turn-off. I will never take this drug again."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "Great stuff. I didn't get the jitters, though I can feel a little extra buzz in there. Finally, after weeks of stuffiness and coughing, I am quiet this afternoon. 10 stars!"

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "This medicine cleared my nose but also made me feel dizzy, gave me tremors, nausea, and made my heart pound. I felt awful after taking this and wouldn't recommend it to anyone."
