For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I took Mucinex D before bed because my sinuses were congested and I could feel mucus in my lungs, making it hard to breathe. Shortly after taking the medication, everything loosened up, my nose ran, but I could breathe. Unfortunately, it's now 6 am, and I haven't slept a wink and have had a rapid heart rate and anxiety. I have a headache and am too jittery to sleep. I did feel slightly nauseous after I took the pill and very dry mouth now."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "Definitely helped relieve my sinus pressure and loosen up mucus. I did feel nauseous after taking Mucinex D. It's 2:18 am and I'm still up, so I decided to Google insomnia and Mucinex D. And here I am. At least my congestion improved."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "Awful. Yes, this medication did clear up my cough, BUT the side effects were awful! I was extremely jittery, lethargic, anxious, and then became nauseous as well. I would not take this medication again."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "My mom caught the cold I have just beaten, and it affected her much worse. After consulting a doctor/friend, she recommended trying Mucinex 12 hour. At around 7 PM, she took two 600 mg tablets. She reported being awake all night with heart palpitations, jitters, and a pounding headache. She also threw up in the middle of the night and feels nauseous again this morning. The cough is coming back as the Mucinex wears off. The drug worked to stop the coughing, but the side effects can be hard on some."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "It helped with the runny nose and cough, but I think the side effects made it not worth taking. The first hour was the immediate release, and it made me feel nervous, anxious, dizzy, nauseous, and I had awful tremors. After the first hour, I came down a bit and didn't feel as awful. Couldn't get any sleep on it, and being a mom of a one-year-old boy, I definitely need my sleep. I won't be taking it again. Going to go back to DayQuil, NyQuil, cough drops... Not for everyone."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "Do not take this at all unless you want to be up and feeling like you are never, ever going to sleep again. I was taking DayQuil until my very smart girlfriend offered me a Mucinex in the middle of the night. Never, ever take this or any other med containing pseudoephedrine. Whatever you are going through is not worth the anxiety and insomnia. I also threw up as well, which tasted exactly like the Mucinex."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "Followed directions & took 2x Mucinex D 1200mg at 9:30 PM. Decided to pick this up after being sick & out of work for 5 days. I was really tired & dozed off at 11:30 PM. It's 3:30 AM, I can't sleep... I'm wide awake with an extra dry mouth, swelling of the tongue, slight nausea, tossing & turning (anxiety?), tingling/weakness in my arms. Most of my cold symptoms are gone (amazingly!), but I can't shake these side effects right now & am wondering exactly when I'll be able to sleep! I would NOT recommend taking this at nighttime, & if you are going to try this stuff to start with just 1 pill."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I took this for some relief of nasal and chest congestion. Let me warn you, do not take it, as within a half hour my heart was racing and I was jittery and anxious. On top of it, it made me sick to my stomach and I feel like someone is sitting on my chest. I can’t quench my thirst, no matter how much water I drink. I hope this feeling doesn’t last the entire 12 hours. This is horrible. I will never take this again, and this should be removed from the market."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I was starting to feel like a head and sinus condition was coming on, and with our tropical vacay coming up in 10 days, I for sure wanted to kick it in the butt. Well, I took my first dose this evening at 9 pm, went to bed because of an early work schedule, and slept soundly till 11:30 pm. It is now 2:30 am, and I have experienced a rapid heartbeat, nausea, and jitteriness. I laid there for 2 hours thinking I could go back to sleep, and here I am. Kinda wished the pharmacist would have given me a heads-up. Now this is kickin' me in the butt!"

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I took it at about 5 pm today when my cough was getting worse. It is now 5:30 am, and I haven't slept one bit. I am so jittery, nauseous, and dizzy. My heart is racing, and my whole body is shaking. My cough is significantly better, but the fact that I will not be getting sleep tonight for even a minute is quite the turn-off. I will never take this drug again."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I highly recommend Mucinex D. First of all, I am not tolerant of many cold/allergy medicines. I was prescribed Mucinex D (2 pills every 12 hours) for my chest and nasal congestion. It seems everything I take affects me with anxiety, drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, or something. So, to be safe, I took only 1 tablet to start. Within 1/2 hour, my cold symptoms were so much better, and I had no side effects from the pill. Then, 6 hours later, my cold symptoms started getting bad again. So, I took 1 more at 6 hours. Long story short, I have been taking Mucinex D for 3 days. But my schedule is 1 tablet every 6 hours, instead of 2 every 12 hours (still at the limit of 4 in 24 hours). I have had no trouble sleeping (except for the cough and nasal stuff). I am not sleepy, or anxious, or anything. In fact, I feel great. It does seem to be an appetite suppressant too...bonus! I am so glad I took the chance of making my own dosing schedule. It works!"

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I disagree with the other reviews, two doses and I'm feeling a bit better with the antibiotics. Only downfall so far: nausea!"
