Neurontin (gabapentin) "Well, Neurontin has really not done anything for me. I was an alcoholic and had seizures many times, and they put me on propranolol. It has helped more than anything, I guess, for the tremors, but as far as seizures, nope, not doing anything. I still feel like I'm about to have a heart attack/seizure. Just ain't doing it for me."

Neurontin (gabapentin) "If you have metabolic epilepsy and high glutamate levels or an intolerance, the medicine works great. It's the only one in combination with Keppra that has stopped my gran mal seizures and drop attacks. I still have focal aware seizures, though."

"I've been on this medicine for ten years now and have my seizures under control with 1200 mg a day. A neurologist placed me on it after trying Dilantin and Depakote. I didn't realize it could be helping my anxiety, restless legs, and migraines. I had terrible headaches before I was on gabapentin and now have all these things under control. I did gain 30 lbs when we added an antidepressant."

"I was also given gabapentin along with Keppra for seizures. The seizures seem to be under control, and I am happy with the results, but unlike the first comment, I have not gained any weight. I have actually lost like 70 pounds."

"I am 30 years old, and I have epilepsy. I just came off of Tegretol and am only on gabapentin after asking my neurologist if I could, please. At single doses of 600 mg three times a day, I feel like my anxiety goes away, but my head can feel groggy. I actually have panic attacks, anxiety attacks, and depression as a result of epilepsy. I do like gabapentin if it prevents seizures. Last night I felt nuts and had racing thoughts. Maybe I need to up my doses to 1200 mg at night instead of 600 mg. I do sleep very well once I do crash. It can make me calmer and hungry. I couldn't survive, literally, without it. I know I would have seizures and panic attacks. Side effects: very few compared to Tegretol."

"I have suffered from Trigeminal Neurology for 6 years, and after the first half of an 800mg pill. Recovered instantly. Then I took 800mg pill at once every 2 days. Gabapentin gave me hope to continue my life."

"Had been on Dilantin/Mysoline for years for my epilepsy, with good success in controlling seizures. Doc decided to add Gabapentin to the mix and ended up in the ER with seizures coming in waves. Never happened before - only had nocturnal seizures every couple of years - one at a time - not multiples. After coming off Gabapentin, meds back to Dilantin/Primidone -- no seizures in the past 20 yrs."

"This medicine is very expensive unless you have insurance before I had insurance it almost bankrupt my family and almost made my mother penniless and my father penniless trying to control my epilepsy at that time I was on two different medications tegretol and depakote and then I was put on neurontin carpetrol and topamax XR the government don't care about controlling the pharmacies and making it affordable. I've been sick since I was 9 months old some doctors told my mother and my grandmother that it was cheaper just to buy a headstone and a grave and put me in it that I was going to die anyway and they took me to children's hospital and a wonderful army of doctors took care of me if they ever read this they know who they are"

"I take many medications for several things. I was diagnosed with epilepsy a little over two years ago. I have severe migraines with aura that have lasted two weeks before. When I get migraines, it feels as if I have vertigo only, with someone beating my head consistently with a rubber mallot. My nose bleeds profusely, I cannot eat, and cannot speak. I also have bipolar depression, and PTSD. I take 600mg of gabapentin to help with migraines and with my seizures. I think that with all my medications combined, I'm doing a lot better! (I also take Keppra, sertraline, and rizatriptan) The gabapentin is used to help prevent my migraines, which have been a lot fewer than before! I've been taking this drug for a little under a year now and not only has my mood improved, I went from only a few days a month migraine free, to maybe one or two migraines a month, only lasting a day or two."

"Caused increased seizures and made the clonic-tonic seizures so much worse than they were prior to not taking gabapentin. I wouldn't recommend this medication to anyone."
