"It’s the first time ever I am leaving a review for something because I thought I owe that to myself and lots of people who are uncertain or hopeless. I took Paxil before Prozac for about 4 months with no effects at all. I asked my doc to prescribe Prozac because I was getting worse. I was so depressed, always in a sad mood, crying a lot, and did not have the power to do anything at home. I spent hours in bed at the weekends. Then I started Prozac, after 3 weeks I had some ups and downs, but I was giving up until I started feeling better after 4-5 weeks. Now I have been taking it for 5 months, have not cried for a long time, have no sadness, no depressed mood, and no anxiety. I am just so glad I did not give up. I am a mom and I needed to get up again. After years, I feel I am living. Thank you, Prozac."

"Prozac saved me! I've been in and out of hospitals for 10 years. Was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. After changing doctors and medicines, I finally feel like myself again. I hear no voices of worry and stress. I'm not irritated over the slightest things. I can now think clearer. After months of depression and panic attacks, my new doctor recommended Prozac. For weeks, I felt nausea and weakness. Then, on the third week, I got up and out and got a job the same day! I was no longer stuttering and confused. My relationship with my significant other is 100% better. My thoughts were very clear. I'd finally gained my confidence back! I'm very happy I tried Prozac. I feel amazing."

"I have suffered from MDD for 4 years before I got my diagnosis. By the time of my diagnosis, I had mental breakdowns every night, was completely withdrawn from all friends and family, and my grades went from straight A’s to straight D’s. I was tired, numb, and sick. I tried to kill myself twice. Then I started Prozac at 10mg and then up to 40 mg. Three years later, I was finally able to get my life back together. It takes several months for Prozac to take effect. For me, it was an entire year. For sure, it’s no miracle cure, but I was less empty and less tired. Prozac is not a happy pill. It won’t fix your problems. It won’t make life seem infinitely better. It won’t undo the damage. Nothing will. It will only give you the opportunity to make everything better again. And for me, that was opening up to others and seeking the help I needed. I'm doing better now. Prozac did its job. Now I have to do mine."

"I've been using 40 mg of Prozac daily for almost a year now. I went from the worst I've ever been, crying all the time, never being able to stop thinking about how much I hated myself, life, and everything about life. I was not eating, was so full of rage and hate, and had the most negative mindset towards everything. Every second of my life seemed like hell and pointless. I wished I was dead (although I would never actually kill myself for my family's sake). After about 2 or 3 weeks of taking the Prozac, everything got so much better. It was like it flipped a switch in my head, and the negative thoughts went away. I actually felt good and happy, which I thought was so impossible to feel. Taking these meds was the best thing I've ever done."

"I have SAD, GAD, PTSD, and major depressive disorder in a bipolar spectrum. I suffered from random depressive episodes, PMDD, irritability, crying randomly, suicidal thoughts, social isolation, insomnia, etc. I was on 100 mg of Zoloft once, and it did absolutely nothing to me, so I became discouraged from taking meds for 8 years as I felt hopeless. However, during 2020, my depression got so crippling. I reached out and was prescribed this medication. The first week or two, I was really depressed. However, I've been on it for 3 months now and have not had a single random depressive episode. In addition, I no longer experience PMS. I do have side effects: worsened hand tremors, constipation, and a hard time orgasming. Despite these, it is still very worth it to me after going through what I did. I know you're reading these reviews and it is scary and you feel hopeless, but I want you to know that you should give it a go."

"I feel indebted to write this review in case there is someone else going through what I went through. I don’t like psych drugs at all and have been suffering from a depressed mood with severe mood swings for the past six months. After trying everything to cope, and having the hopes it would pass with effort, today I upped my dosage of fluoxetine from 20 mg to 30 mg. The effects were immediate for me, and I began to cry because I finally had some relief to get me through this very difficult time in my life."

"Suffered with depression since early teens, but hit rock bottom when a friend committed suicide. I could no longer work, couldn't eat, had panic attacks, and became suicidal. After 3-4 weeks of taking Prozac, I began feeling like a normal person, and after 6 weeks, I felt happier than I could ever remember being for years. Prozac has saved me. I will happily stay on it for life if this is how it makes me feel."

"This medication is a life saver. I think Prozac has saved my life and made my thinking more clear. I had been struggling with mental illness for years before I tried Prozac. I had been diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar disorder (even though I never had a manic episode). I had tried other medications. After a suicide attempt, I tried Zoloft; however, there was no effect. After this SSRI, I tried other medications, and everything made me unbelievably worse. After trying medications like lithium, Lamictal, Depakote, and Abilify, I finally was put on 10 mg Prozac and then 20 mg. This was it. I felt an instant recovery after 3 weeks, where my mind finally woke up. I felt a part of my brain, which was not working, was now working. It was lifesaving."

"I've been on every antidepressant known to mankind and they were awful to me. Either the side effects were too bad or it turned me into a complete zombie to the point work was out of the question, and then my doctor said we would try one more called Prozac. The reason he had not prescribed it before was because it took 6-8 weeks to reach full effect, whereas the others took less than half that time. I started out taking 10mg because I have always been very sensitive to antidepressants and their side effects. For about the first 2 or 3 weeks I experienced light anxiety. Then finally, the 6 weeks passed and still nothing, but then about 8 weeks into the medication, I feel like Santa Claus on steroids! It has saved my life!"

"Following the death of my 3-year-old daughter, I started taking Prozac along with Valdoxan at night and anti-calm medication during the day. I also suffer from anxiety. Prozac has helped me get up in the daytime, go out, and changed my attitude. While it may provide false happiness, it helps me forget my pain, and I can have a giggle during the day. It eases my pain."

"I have Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and anxiety. I have never felt more calm and in control of my emotions. Usually every night I'd fall into a fit of thinking of self-harm. I have thought of them no more. I still get sad, but it's sadness, not full-on depression. My anxiety has decreased so much. I still get nervous, but it is not even close to how bad it was. An added bonus is, for me, it makes me drowsy, so I get more sleep. I have never been so happy in my life. Prozac is a lifesaver."

"I've always been a fidgety person along with anxiety and pretty bad mood swings. It got to the point where I have no friends, I've pushed away family and lost relationships. Today was day 1 of Prozac, and I just can't believe how fast it started working. For once in my life, I feel normal! I'm happy, I can catch my breath, and I can't wait for tomorrow. This drug very well may have saved my life, and I'm so grateful I finally found something that works!"

"I feel fantastic. I feel a massive change in myself. I'm less aggressive, anxious, depressed, and agitated. I'm more patient with things and people. As I suffered with social anxiety, I'm more outgoing and thinking clearer. I feel on top of the world and have lost 13 kg as my appetite has decreased rapidly."

"I have been taking Prozac 20 mg now for at least a month and a half, and I am so glad for this medication. On the first day I took this pill, I felt different. I have lost weight, which is a great thing because I am overweight. I don't really have an appetite, not complaining about that at all, but the only downside is NOOOOOO sex drive at all, and I can barely have an orgasm. I'm going to stick with the medicine because I have struggled with depression for years and years and haven't felt this good in I don't know when. My medicine works all day, every day, and sex only lasts a few minutes...not giving up my medicine for sex. Give the medicine time to get in your system, it really works, and it has saved my life! Thank goodness for this pill."

"I have been on this medication for around 12 years, 60mg a day for OCD and depression. It got me out of a very, very deep hole, got me back to work, able to function, got me back as a normal person. Unfortunately, I used alcohol and recreational drugs as well, which made me riddled with anxiety and depression. I'm clean and sober 8 years now and am still on Prozac. I've recently had a low episode and I was self-medicating with my Prozac as and when I needed. Obviously, this wasn't the greatest idea, and this has led me back to being depressed again, but I'm back on 40mg of Prozac a day. I may feel like I have gone back to the beginning of it all, but I haven't. I've just had a little setback in my recovery. All in all, Prozac for me is a lifesaver."

"I tried so many drugs for so long, but nothing worked as well as Prozac has. I spent months struggling to get out of my house on other drugs, but with Prozac, I can go out again. It seems almost unreal! I’m so grateful for this medication, and I hope someone else can get this help too!"

"I've been suffering from severe depression and anxiety for three months now, mainly because of past traumatic experiences and my Hashimoto's disease condition caused by excessive stress. Even though I've been on levothyroxine, it doesn't help me with dealing with depression. My psychiatrist put me on 20 mg and asked me to double the dose if there isn't any effect in another 2 weeks, but this medication worked wonders in decreasing depression and anxiety and has uplifted my mood and spirits in life. I didn't need to increase the dosage yet. I've read a lot about side effects, but apart from less sleep, I have not witnessed any other side effects. I sleep better now as I take the medication every day at 10 a.m."

"I've been on Prozac 20 mg for almost 2 months for severe depression and suicidal thoughts and death scenarios. I just want to say that this medicine is a lifesaver, it works miracles, regardless of the fact that I have experienced so much dizziness (especially when working out), but my thoughts get more positive with time."

"After years on duloxetine for major depression and degenerative osteoarthritis, a new psyche doctor had me try Effexor (terrifying effects). Bad trip. He had been having me take Prozac while I was weaning off duloxetine because it mitigates the withdrawal syndrome from duloxetine, and I felt better than I had in 10 years. After the near-suicide because of Effexor, I asked if we could just stick with Prozac but increase the dose. I prefer it because I feel like ME, not some drugged-out, flattened-emotion version of me. I still can get happy, sad, mad, chill, relaxed, etc. Many anti-depressants eliminate that ability, which I find unbearable personally. I take 20 mg once per day in the morning, and it has given me my life back again."

"I started on Prozac in '05, and have been on it ever since. I'm not sure to say it was for major depressive disorder, but I was just waking up and seeing the world in a way with no feeling. I had depression when I was young and continued. Prozac has been up and down in the dose. But I currently take 80 mg, and I have to say it helps with feeling better. Wellbutrin was more stimulating but with much anxiety, other serotonin antidepressants somewhat worked, but Prozac is the one I keep using because it works. Prozac just simply helps my mood, I could be in the mood to talk. When it's not taken, or if I miss one or two days, I can tell-mentally sluggish, the depression of not feeling anything. Prozac makes me less apathetic, and I'm in a better mood. Some people have an opposite reaction and have a flat feeling. I have bad days, many... but it keeps me from falling into major depression."

"My mental illnesses that started when I was 13, and I had my first attempted suicide and ended up in a long-term hospital for treatment. I was given Prozac when it was “the in” drug for teens! Now at 41, I’ve been on everything, and now I’m back to Prozac. I feel amazing when I’m on it! I usually start feeling normal and stop taking it, thinking it was a phase until it comes back! Now I’m sitting at my pharmacy waiting for it, when normally with any antidepressants I couldn't care less when it gets filled, because I still have to wait a month for it to work! Prozac seems to work instantly! It gave me energy, made me focused and happy! No dark, paranoid thoughts! Sex drive decreases, but I can still orgasm. Everybody’s bodies are different, and we all have different disorders, to me, Wellbutrin was the worst! I think you have to trust your doctors and try a few, and go with the one that works the best with the least side effects!"

"Prozac is my happy pill, it took me forever to find something that works, but this is definitely mine! I was beginning to be skeptical that anything would work. Effexor and Prestiq were what I was put on before this, and that was a nightmare. This makes me think more clearly and see things from a different perspective. I see the good in life, and I don't get so easily upset over everything anymore, and if I do get bothered by something, I get over it in seconds. It helps with my social anxiety as well. I've noticed I'm more talkative and can deal with being around people better. Before, I was so badly depressed with possible bipolar or personality disorder. I'm finally getting to know myself as a person and am much happier now."

"I have been dealing with Major Depressive Disorder for 9 years of my life, along with PTSD and severe anxiety. I have been on so many different medications for depression and have found that Prozac is the only antidepressant that works for me. I have been as low as 10 mg, now currently on 20 mg. I am considering going to 30 mg. I have to see how I feel in the next number of days. I have been on this medication steadily for 6 months or so. I do have face twitches, but they are very minor and don't come very often. It really does help me get out into the world and not be so affected by things emotionally. It's crucial to my well-being and emotional state and has prevented me from hurting myself for a long time."

"I’m on 30 mg Prozac for severe anxiety and panic attacks, for PTSD and for MDD. This medication helps with almost all of my mental health symptoms and does a really good job of addressing my anxiety and panic attacks as well as PTSD flashbacks from sexual assault. It does make me feel a little tired and gave me some constipation at the start, but the benefits outweigh the side effects. I recommend."
