For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was previously on Tamsulosin, and this worked well, but I had side effects: dizziness, fatigue, red-faced when doing anything physical, also palpitations. Changed to Finasteride, it has not helped with urine flow, and I am getting up 2 to 3 times a night, becoming very depressed, short-tempered, and fatigued. Also, tingling in fingers. I know it takes time to build in your system, I've been on this about 4 months. The Tamsulosin made a difference after a month. Need to go back to the doctor..."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Suffering badly from sleep deprivation due to being woken to pee 6 times a night, prescribed Tamsulosin Hydrochloride, minimal reduction, doctor then prescribed Finasteride to assist Tamsulosin, which after 3 months was not achieving a result. Finasteride made me very ill within days of taking it: dizziness, nausea, some loss of feeling in fingertips, buildup of calcium in tendons on hand. Made an appointment to discuss with doctor (two weeks, 3 days earliest that could be booked), week and two days before doctor appointment, sudden loss of sight in left eye due to a blood clot behind the retina."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "If you're taking this poison for hair growth, I urge you to stop! Bald is better than the side effects. I took it for enlarged prostate but decided it wasn't a good option. I'm 71, so ED isn't an issue for me, but after two months, I started getting headaches that wouldn't go away. Then, four days into the headaches, I woke up feeling dizzy. I'm not talking a little dizzy, I'm talking big-time spinning room dizzy that felt like the worst drunk of my life dizzy. I was 24 hours before I could walk to the bathroom without falling. I'm reading that only 2% experience the side effects. I'm betting it is a lot higher than that. Stop NOW and hope you get better. It has been a month since I took any, and I am still having light-headed days and minor headaches. Hopefully, this isn't permanent."

Finasteride for Androgenetic Alopecia "I have used it for 2 years, and I have a little bit less sexual activity, but it helps me to be more active in my work. My hair is much better, and I have a little dizziness when getting up fast. Totally, I am totally satisfied."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I've started taking it when I was 24. Now I'm 31, and for the first time ever, I started feeling dizziness when waking up too fast from the hammock or the couch, but not when waking up from bed. That's all. I never had any problem with libido, ejaculations, or any sexual-related issue. I have an active sexual life, and I never had any problem. I exercise a lot. I don't take any other medication. My hairdresser noticed that my hair was getting stronger. I had no hair loss after starting the intake. Hard to say what would happen if I quit it. BUT I have a recommendation for all users: NEVER EVER take more than 1mg a day. Never. In order to do this, I mark in the blister which day I started the intake, and then I use that as a reference."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "Started getting dizzy spells after about two weeks. Mild reduction in sex drive that was honestly rather peaceful, but the dizziness made it hard to focus on anything, and I sometimes found it hard to keep my balance when standing. I can't comment on hair effects as I wasn't able to take it long enough. I've stopped for almost two weeks and still get intermittent dizziness. Personally, not going to touch this drug again - the side effects I experienced negatively impacted my quality of life, and I can only hope they fully go away soon."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I take this for both BPH and alopecia. Just would like to say a few things about posters who have had a bad experience with the drug, either side effects or lack of response. 1) If you are having testicular pain, for God's sake, don't just stop the drug. You may have epididymitis or another problem that needs to be evaluated quickly by the urologist/MD that gave you the Rx. Young people take note. 2) When you are taking a combo drug of finasteride with an alpha blocker such as Flomax (tamsulosin) and you start having side effects such as dizziness, you really don't know which of the two may be causing it. Again, this is a subject that should be discussed with your MD. 3) If your doctor didn't tell you this, I will. Finasteride takes TIME to work, months before seeing significant improvement."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Six months on finasteride reduced my prostate volume from 91 cc to 40 cc! This has eliminated the need for surgery. I did have some dizziness, but it has gradually become less of a problem."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "BEWARE: For some men, very bad side effects after one dose. For BPH, took 1 mg of this drug, one time... next morning, very low blood pressure (on medication for high BP), significant increased depression, loss of strength and energy, muscle weakness, severe agitation, irritation, extreme chills, dizziness, lightheadedness, sleepiness, or unusual drowsiness - slept all day. If prescribed for enlarged prostate, takes 6 months to work... you can pee more often or not be able to do most anything else. It is not easy to find ALL side effects, even on the FDA website, but with 2 hours of searching and making lists, you may have found ALL side effects. I would never take a single pill of this again."
