For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Have been taking this med for about a year now. Urinary function is much better, but the side effects make me wonder if the benefits are worth it. My penis has gotten much smaller, no erections at all, and when I do ejaculate, the quantity is dramatically less than before and is now just a small amount of clear fluid. Will talk to my Dr. about options."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "Please do NOT use this drug. I took it at a healthy, sexually active 19-year-old because I wanted to stop losing hair. My girlfriend broke up with me six months later...because I could not get an erection. My penis is not the same. I told myself everything would be the same after I stopped. I quit this poison six months later and have not had a girlfriend since. Thought the side effects would go away, but they haven’t. Please don’t."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "After 6 months of taking Finasteride, there has been no decrease in the size of my prostate, nor any benefit as to frequency of urination. My sex drive is almost nonexistent. When I do orgasm, nothing comes out. Keeping an erection has become harder. I have experienced tingling in the bottom of my feet, resulting in nerves firing in my calves."

Finasteride for Androgenetic Alopecia "Complete brain fog, worse than anything you can imagine, literally can't get out of bed because of the brain damage that this drug induced on me. I feel completely, literally detached from the world now, not to mention even the less serious it caused, ED, no libido, head pressure, complete cognitive shift. Feel like I'm in a whole different world. NEVER TOUCH this drug EVER, EVER, EVER, unless you're old and have nothing else to lose and don't care about life anymore. I would trade this with ANY other disease just for my brain function to come back again. I feel like I'm in a coma, it's absolutely frightful, every day 24/7, it never leaves. Sexual sides are a joke compared to this."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been taking Finasteride for just over 3 years now. It has worked to reduce the size of my prostate, but it comes at a price. Sexual libido is very much down, and so are the erections! The other thing to note is that since taking Finasteride, I lost all my body hair, not on my head or beard, but legs, arms, and chest hair all vanished. I stopped taking Finasteride about 3 months ago, and gradually all my hair is now returning. I also have a much stronger erection, although I can't say my libido has come back!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Had severe prostate issues where I could not urinate. I had to have a tube and bag for 50 days until Finasteride started to work at 5 mg. I also took 2 pills daily of Flomax in an effort to shrink my prostate. Now after 9 months, I feel I can write a review. As stated, it was difficult times with surgery being the option if the medication did not work for enlarged prostate. Side effects are feeling tired, as well as the sexual issues mentioned by others, which are important, but it's so much better being able to urinate on my own. I will take them over the issue I faced."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I have now used this product for the last 12 years, and fortunately, it suits me. I have 2 kids in the last 6 years, and my sex drive is normal. Highly recommend this product, as 12 years back, I had turned almost bald."

Finasteride for Androgenetic Alopecia "I took 5 pills from April 2-6. Over the course of those 5 days, I had worsening symptoms of brain fog, headaches, sleeplessness, suicidal ideation, ED/impotence, loss of libido, increased fat mass, and muscle weakness that didn't dissipate for a month and a half. Even now (July), I still have increased fat mass, increased tissue on the breast, peripheral edema (mild), and difficulty (mild) with erections. I'm not as focused or driven due to ongoing sleep difficulties (mild/moderate) and the intensity of these effects. Every day, I regret taking this drug. I took this drug without researching any side effects, I really regret not looking into possible side effects. Please be aware that the consequences could be extremely negative and persistent."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "At the age of 23, I started losing my hair. I used Genesis (finasteride) 1 mg for 4 months, as recommended by my physician. I got 80% of my hair back. The side effects of the drug were temporary. Within a few weeks, all the side effects were gone and never came back."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "For me personally, it has worked great with little to no known side effects. I have used it for about 18 years. I have noticeably more hair and thicker hair over my entire head. My receding hairline loss has completely stopped. It has worked so well for me for so long that I'm afraid to stop using it. I have been told that this small amount to help your hair might also have a positive benefit for your aging prostate. Who knows? I use a Proscar pill and cut it into quarters to make up the proper dosage for hair loss."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "Ok, so I read all these nightmare reviews and decided to try this stuff anyway. It's only been a week, but I feel incredible... I'm sleeping better, I have more energy, focus, I'm way more horny, and my erections are stronger and more intense. I really hope these beneficial side effects continue!!! I must add that I am taking fenugreek as a testosterone booster, and I'm on an SSRI for anxiety. I read that if you have enough testosterone, your body doesn't need DHT for certain things... Try fenugreek!! Oh, also I did have that weird feeling of having to pee after I already went, it seems to be subsiding, though."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I took this product for 3 months. I can't say whether it worked or it didn't. All I know is that at the three-month mark, my boys started aching bad. And E.D. kicked in. The other posts on this website are on the money. If you care about your sexual health and sex life, then do not take this drug! I was in the 'it won't happen to me' group of men that try something anyway. The side effects are horrible. I immediately stopped the drug and, for me, thankfully, within two weeks, everything is back to normal. I'm not sure about the results if I had stayed on it longer. Bottom line: stay away."

Finasteride for Androgenetic Alopecia "I have been using this medication for just over a year now. Hair has regrown over my crown, but the top and temple areas are still quite thin, they have not regrown and have not responded in the same way. I guess these areas have not gotten any worse either. Certainly, I don't notice hair in the shower or in my hairbrush as much. On the sexual function side of things, I have noticed a decrease in performance, I guess there was always going to be a tradeoff. The main thing I think to watch out for is the effect the medication has on PSA levels. If you are already being monitored for this prior to starting Propecia, it is worth bearing in mind and reminding your physician about the PSA-lowering effect of Propecia."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I took this medication for over a year and had insidiously slow, gradual sexual side effects until one day my penis and testicles went completely numb. For a year, doctors thought I was crazy, and I thought I had a spinal problem because I developed pudendal neuropathy from this drug. When I started it in 2020, I did tons of research, and PFS was not even talked about. About 5% of the studies showed permanent side effects. In the time I took it, countless studies were done showing how horrendous this drug is. Judge for yourself: well over 50% of these reviews are negative, and those are only the reported ones. This drug will change you as a person and will steal your humanity from you. Conveniently, I had to learn firsthand the side effects are permanent. Say goodbye to your manhood and sex/relationship FOREVER."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "This drug moderately helped my hair loss, but it permanently damaged me. My penis has been completely numb for 16 months. I am 30 years old and I have to live with this for the rest of my life. I was perfectly healthy before. There is no cure for the sides that this causes. I don’t even have a family yet. Absolutely devastating."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Age 63, using finasteride for 2 years and no other medications. Took many months for improvement in urination and now much improved, though definitely not what it was when I was young. I am no longer scouting for spots to stop in a 30-minute walk. I typically sleep about 5 hours at night before having to get up. Other changes since beginning dosage: ejaculation volume has decreased, occasional but rare loss of erection during intercourse. No other changes noticed, in particular no loss of libido, and no mental changes noticed. After doing the research, physiological effects seem to be the same at 1 mg (for hair loss) as 5 mg (for BPH), so I quarter the 5 mg pills and take a 1/4 pill per day."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I used this for many years and didn't realize how bad the sexual effects are until I started losing women and confidence. The scandalous thing about this drug is the misreported risk of side effects originally given by Merck, who had the original patent on this med. They stated 2%, but the reality is a lot higher. I would be surprised if everyone on it isn't getting side effects, as a percentage may not even be aware of them. I experienced ball shrinkage, ED, loss of libido, and loss of confidence, and in all of this, nobody is sure if hair loss is stopped or reversed. Most people cannot tell if the hair is lost or gained because the process is slow, and unless we take photos daily in various lighting, most, if not all, of our perceptions are going to be unclear. What I'm saying here is that you can't really tell if you get your hair back unless a bald spot gets coverage, which I haven't seen."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am a 72-year-old male, have taken this med for a year now. Definite increase in weight and breast size (as much as 5-7 lbs), easier urinary flow, but not as it used to be, notable decrease in sperm, erections at first were more difficult, but have improved over the past six months. Originally tried a natural prostate offering for six months with little sign of change, but thinking now that my prostate has shrunk some, I'll try that again before renewing this prescription. Notably, my PSA score dropped from 6.5 to 3 over the past year!"

For Androgenetic Alopecia "Side effects are probably much more underreported. I believe most people get side effects, and some just get used to them, and it becomes their new normal. Just like someone who drinks coffee every day for years might say they don’t feel anything, but once they stop for a couple of weeks, they feel different and go back to normal, then they realize its effects. Honestly, the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze for me personally. As a young man, I want to feel like a young man, full of energy, drive, and high sex drive. On finasteride, I felt like a 50-year-old man trapped in a young body. Girls didn’t interest me as much, I lost sensitivity, and my boners and orgasms weren’t that great. I also felt tired all the time and had memory and cognitive issues. If you are considering using this medication, yes, it works, but the price you have to pay can be life-ruining."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "In 2018, I tried Flomax to decrease my prostate and help my urine flow perfectly, but then the doctor prescribed another medication, which is finasteride. The first week I tried it, I felt funny in my testicle, and I became dry immediately, but my sex life is bad, and my doctor found small cancer in my prostate, and they said it would be good for another 15 years before I had surgery, but I decided to have the surgery since my cancer wasn’t a productive one, that it does not go all over the body. Now it’s been almost 9 months since I had the surgery, and I’m doing great. Sex is okay. Thank goodness I am cancer-free, and I am 68 right now. I decided to have the surgery and then take the medication for another 15 years. It is a bad, bad medication."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I've been taking finasteride for 3 months now. It works well in shrinking the prostate, but has definitely seemed to take away my libido, sex drive, and my erections are very weak. It is not solid in the morning when you have to go to the bathroom, which is normal for guys. I'm thinking that it's not worth taking the pill. It does work on shrinking the prostate, it is just that it takes your libido and sex drive away, which is very disappointing, very discouraging, and sad. I hear different professional opinions: some say it will come back when I'm off it, and some that I've read said it may take a very long time for things to get normal."

Finasteride for Androgenetic Alopecia "Do not use it! This is a very dangerous product. After 4 weeks of using it, I had a total loss of libido and almost became impotent. I have now stopped for three weeks and am still not back to normal. This product is a chemical castration! I don't understand how this product is available on the market. Use other alternatives such as Regaine. Do not use, do not use, do not use!!!!! Giving a 1 rating is overrated."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I was given this drug finasteride by a complete imbecile of a dermatologist at the age of fifteen. I am now 30, and I am only just getting over the side effects after more than ten years of being off the drug. It is highly destructive, far more than the reported 2% of people. I suffered pretty much every symptom in the book: sexual, cognitive, muscular, sleeping, depression, gastrointestinal. Why potentially risk destroying your life? I can assure you from firsthand experience, it is absolutely not worth it! At one stage, I went eight years without any form of sexual activity, and as a former sports enthusiast, I can now no longer run more than a few seconds without horrendous leg pain. I piled on around three stone as part of a monstrous metabolic crash, and my university degree was absolutely ruined. Take this and mess with your hormones at your peril. Do not trust money-grabbing dermatologists or pharmaceutical companies. I was not provided with the facts/risks."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "It gradually reduced the number of times I had to get up at night to urinate, from 2-3 to 0-1. But after a year or 2, it became gradually less effective until I was back to getting up 2-3 times per night. Also, I noticed that my ejaculate was less, my libido had decreased, and I developed a bend in my penis for no apparent reason. I stopped taking it, and my libido immediately began to return and continues to strengthen. Also, I seem to be getting stronger at the gym and a little more aggressive. It feels like my testosterone is being restored to normal."
