For Androgenetic Alopecia "I used this for many years and didn't realize how bad the sexual effects are until I started losing women and confidence. The scandalous thing about this drug is the misreported risk of side effects originally given by Merck who had the original patent on this med. They stated 2% but the reality is A LOT higher, I would be surprised if everyone on it isn't getting side effects as a percentage may not even be aware of them. I experienced ball shrinkage, ED, loss of libido, and loss of confidence, and in all of this, nobody is sure if hair loss is stopped or reversed. Most people cannot tell if the hair is lost or gained because the process is slow and unless we take photos daily in various lighting most, if not all, of our perceptions are going to be unclear. What I'm saying here is that you can't really tell if you get your hair back unless a bald spot gets coverage which I haven't seen."

Proscar (finasteride) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I started taking Proscar when it was a blind study. It has reduced my prostate to the size of a teenager's prostate. I still take it, but am now using the generic (Finasteride). The only side effect that I have had is slight breast tenderness and swelling (not cancerous as it has been that way for almost a year) also my bald spot all but disappeared."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Been using Finasteride for 9 months. Still get up every 2 hours at night to pee. No erection, sex is impossible. Penis looks like it is smaller and different shape. Would not recommend this drug to anybody. Probably going to quit, there has to be something else other than this drug. No sex drive at all."

Propecia (finasteride) for Androgenetic Alopecia "Don't take this drug. I used it for a few months and it killed my libido. I did get some noticeable hair re-growth during that time, so at least that worked. It became very hard to get an erection and I became completely disinterested in sex. I've read accounts that some people never regained their libido, and suffered lasting erectile dysfunction. This is not natural. Your libido is part of who you are, and so is hair loss. Be a man and accept the loss of your hair as part of who you were meant to be."

Propecia (finasteride) for Androgenetic Alopecia "I took finasteride for hair loss in 2017. I experienced testicular pain and loss in semen volume. While on the drug I noticed a callous type knot in my left hand. I stopped the drug and within a week developed severe upward curvature from peyronies disease. I had bloodwork done and I'm now hypothyroid as well. Before I took this drug I was perfectly healthy. I'm now experiencing weight gain and feel like I'm 70 years old. I'm 36."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "BEWARE: For some men very bad side effects after one dose. For BPH, took 1mg of this drug, once time...next morning very low blood pressure, (on medication for high BP), significant increased depression, loss of strength and energy, muscle weakness, severe agitation, irritation, extreme chills, dizziness, lightheadedness, sleepiness or unusual drowsiness - slept all day. If prescribed for enlarged prostate takes 6 months to work..you can pee more often or not be able to do most anything else. It is not easy to find ALL side effects, even on the FDA website, but with 2 hours of searching and making lists your may have found ALL side effects. I would never take a single pill of this again."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Used Finasteride for BPH for about 9 months. Do not now need to get up at night to pee BUT totally ruined my sex life. Penis has shrunk and changed in shape, erections are rare and intercourse is impossible. If surgery is not offered I will certainly stop using it."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I was given this drug finasteride by a complete imbecile of a dermatologist at the age of FIFTEEN. I am now 30 and I am only just getting over the side effects after more than ten years of being off the drug. It is highly destructive, far more than the reported 2% of people. I suffered pretty much every symptom in the book: sexual, cognitive, muscular, sleeping, depression, gastrointestinal. Why potentially risk destroying your life? I can assure you from first hand experience, it is absolutely not worth it! At one stage I went eight years without any form of sexual activity and as a former sports enthusiast, I can now no longer run more than a few seconds without horrendous leg pain. I piled on around three stone as part of a monstrous metabolic crash and my university degree was absolutely ruined. Take this and mess with your hormones at your peril. Do NOT trust money grabbing dermatologists or pharmaceutical companies. I was not provided with the facts/risks."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Have been taking this med for about a year now. Urinary function is much better but the side effects make me wonder if the benefits are worth it. My penis has gotten much smaller, no erections at all, and when I do ejaculate, the quantity is dramatically less than before and is now just a small amount of clear fluid. Will talk to my Dr. about options."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "This drug moderately helped my hair loss, but it permanently damaged me. My penis has been completely numb for 16 months. I am 30 years old and i have to live with this for the rest of my life. I was perfectly healthy before. There is no cure for the sides that this causes. I don’t even have a family yet. Absolutely devastating."

Propecia (finasteride) for Androgenetic Alopecia "I have been using this medication for just over a year now. Hair has regrown over my crown, but the top and temple areas are still quite thin; they have not regrown and have not responded in the same way. I guess these areas have not gotten any worse either. Certainly, I don't notice hair in the shower or in my hairbrush as much. On the sexual function side of things, I have noticed a decrease in performance; I guess there was always going to be a tradeoff. The main thing I think to watch out for is the effect the medication has on PSA levels. If you are already being monitored for this prior to starting Propecia, it is worth bearing in mind and reminding your physician about the PSA-lowering effect of Propecia."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "After 6 months of taking Finasteride there has been no decrease in the size of my prostate nor any benefit as to frequency of urination. My sex drive is almost non existent. When I do orgasm nothing comes out. Keeping an erection has become harder. I have experienced tingling in the bottom of my feet resulting in nerves firing in my calves."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been taking Finasteride for just over 3 years now. It has worked to reduce the size of my prostate, but it comes at a price. Sexual libido is very much down and so are the erections! The other thing to note is that since taking finasteride I lost all my body hair, not on my head or beard but legs, arms and chest hair all vanished. I stopped taking Finasteride about 3 months ago and gradually all my hair is now returning. I also have a much stronger erection although I can't say my libido has come back!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Had severe Prostrate issue where I could not urinate. Had to have tube and bag for 50 days till Finasteride started to work, at 5 MG. Also took 2 pills daily of Flomax in effort to shrink Prostrate. Now after 9 months I feel I can write review. As stated it was difficult times with surgery being the option if the medication did not work for enlarged prostrate. Side effects are being tired, as well as the sexual issues mentioned by others, which are important, but so much better being able to urinate on my own, I will take them over the issue I faced."

Propecia (finasteride) for Androgenetic Alopecia "Do not use it! This is a very dangerous product. After 4 weeks of using it, I had a total loss of libido and almost became impotent. I have now stopped for three weeks and am still not back to normal. This product is a chemical castration! I don't understand how this product is available on the market. Use other alternatives such as regaine. Do not use, do not use, do not use!!!!! Giving a 1 rating is overrated."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "Currently noticing slight hair loss at 28 years old and decided to give this a go, but I cannot stress enough to not touch this, especially for young guys.Your body will be naturally producing high levels of test and DHT to alter these levels more than likely will cause really bad side effects. I personally had to stop after a few months. I experienced a really low flat feeling like something was always missing and nearly went on antidepressants because I thought it was me and not the drug.It really heightened anxiety and a lot of anger and agitation at everything. I noticed I've went from 7'9 erect to 6'4 erect, and I struggle now to maintain the erection. It can disappear extremely fast and ultimately lose it all, which was never an issue before, but I also have a lot of clear watery semen. I also pee a lot like I can't fully empty the bladder, always frequently going. Thankfully, this drastically improved after stopping, but I still don't feel 100% where I was before."

For Androgenetic Alopecia "For me personally, it has worked great with little to no known side effects. Have used it for about 18 years. Noticeably more hair and thicker over entire head. Receding hairline loss completely stopped. It has worked so well on me for so long that I'm afraid to stop using it. Have been told that this small amount to help your hair, also might have a positive benefit to your aging Prostate. Who knows? I use a Proscar pill and cut it into 1/4s to make up the proper dosage for hair loss"

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I took 1mg once daily 4 weeks. Yes I did notice a slight change around my hairline. However, that’s where the positive ends. I am 24 and have had a receding hairline due to stress. Slowly but surely I began to get anxious and I was unable to think and study for my classes. This caused me to go into a full-on downward spiral and I went into panic mode. I had nightmares each night and would wake up in the morning with my heart racing and my breathing heavy. I’d wake up, eat and have coffee as usual. Boom, full blown panic attack. Then I took my prescribed Propranolol and the racing heart would go away, but what was left was a broken, lost, depressed, suicidal shell of who I formerly was. I had to get a doctor's excuse to miss exams that week. I finally realized it was the finasteride, and I quickly stopped it per two of my doctor’s opinions. Even after stopping, I have continued to be depressed and have suicidal ideation. Getting better."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "In 2018 I have tried the Flomax to decrease my prostate and help my urine flow perfectly but then the doctor prescribe another medication which is Finasteride . The first week I tried it I felt funny in my testicle and I became dry immediately but my sex life is a bad and my doctor found small cancer in my prostate and they say it would be good for another 15 years before you have surgery but I decided to have the surgery since my cancer wasn’t a productive one that it does not it goes all over the body. Now it’s been almost 9 months since I had the surgery and doing great. Sex Is OK. Thank goodness I am cancer free and I am 68 right now I decide to have the surgery and than take the medication for another 15 years. It is a bad, bad medication"

For Androgenetic Alopecia "I’m Nigerian & propecia down here is unbelievably expensive. So what I did do was purchase finasteride instead which is less than a fraction of the cost of propecia. Since 2018 June up until this very moment I have been on 5mg of finasteride [Yep you read that correctly it is the dose they use for prostate problems] & I can tell you the results are more than amazing, people always laughed at my frontal hair because it was an eyesore tbh but now everyone wants to know “why my hair is so full & thick” I’ve not experienced any of these conventional side effects that are so popularized on the internet even though I’ve been taking 5mg of this alleged dangerous medication for over a year now. nope! none whatsoever, if anything, asides doing its job, it also increased my libido like crazy and erection is normal as has always been. The only noticeable difference is general body weight gain which could be caused by the fact that I take a whole 5mg finasteride daily, other than that everything’s perfect."
