"The pill helps regulate my period and I know when to always expect it. I do not get any mood swings or nausea. I started going on the pill because my period was irregular. I would get my period twice in one month with excruciating pain. Once I began the pill the pain stopped and my period is normal."

"I have been on this birth control going on 5 years this May and about 2-3 years ago I noticed that I have been discharging severely (yellowish liquid) almost everyday. Does anybody else experience this while on this BC? Also the mood swings are terrible as well."

"Overall- one of the worst experiences of my life. First 5 months were fine; I never had PMS but do have cystic acne and this helped. But at month 6 I was switched to generic without realizing, and soon got migraines with auras right around ovulation, which I thought were strokes (extreme confusion, no memory, unable to speak, etc.) I also had EXTREME anxiety right before my period. To the point where no amount of xanax would help. High blood pressure and pulse. It was absolutely awful. Now I have 5cm ovarian cysts. Turns out migraines with aura on BC mean you're prone to stroke. I'm 24. I'd take painful cystic acne and risk of pregnancy over all these symptoms any day. Be careful ladies!!!"

"I absolutely loved this birth control. It was my first experience using hormonal birth control methods and it worked great for me. Had no cramping, bleeding, or weight gain. Some breast swelling and tenderness but nothing too severe. No moodiness or anything which was great. Had super light periods too. Only downside was price. Currently switching to Tri-Previfem because even with insurance it costs $60."

"I was beyond being in a dark place on this Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo pill, my face broke out like crazy. I’ve had nice skin forever, and taking this pill I thought would be nice because I’ve heard reviews of it being good for your skin. It didn’t really help with my cramps either, they still hurt (my pain is as bad as having to book off a week off of work, fainting, throwing up ect). I failed 4 classes because I was so depressed everyday. This pill might work for you, but I wanted to leave my review because to warn other girls that may experience this super dark, depressing, dark hole that this pill put me in so you can have an understanding where it’s coming from."

"This is my first experience with birth control and I've only been on it about two months but I hate it. The pills make me crazy emotional; I've been crying over absolutely nothing and I get paranoid about every little thing. Don't get me wrong, I love not having to worry about pregnancy as much but I just feel depressed and not like myself at all. The good sides to this pill are that it makes my period very light with hardly any cramps and it also has cleared up my acne a bit but not completely."

"I've been on this birth control for a two months now & have experienced almost zero bad side effects. I have lost my appetite most of the time, which has resulted in me losing a little weight, which can be considered a negative or a positive. I have been getting angry very easily since I've been on this medicine but I've always had issues with my anger so it isn't a huge difference. My skin has actually cleared up and I do have sex with my boyfriend without condoms sometimes and we have not gotten pregnant or had any pregnancy scares. I would recommend this even though everyone reacts to birth control differently!"

"I've been on Ortho- Tri Cyclen Lo for a little over a year now. I had a positive experience with it when I was a teen so I wanted to try this again. At first I loved it. Now I have acne, which I've NEVER had a big problem with, crazy mood swings, and a low libido (not to mention vaginal dryness...) Hoping maybe a few more months will get me over this bad spell. I would love to continue taking it because this birth control has never let me down."

"For me I had regular periods but quite heavy and sometimes last a few days more after my period pills were done. I gained weight and in the beginning I had major mood swings. Felt depressed and increased appetite. I also get more yeast infections when I never had them before."

"I was on this pill for almost 7 years straight. I had zero issues with side effects. No mood swings, nausea, depression or changes in appetite. Sex drive was the same if not increased. I had fluctuated with weight on this pill but it was because of bad diets. I ended up loosing the weight with proper eating habits and exercise. The problem I have with this pill is that towards the end of my time on it I started getting break through bleeding. IT IS ANNOYING. Otherwise this pill is perfect for me. I went off the pill for a few years and went back on to this because of ovarian cysts. After a few months the breakthrough bleeding still came back. Sometimes it's so light I don't notice, other times it's like having a second period."

"I have been on this birth control for 6 months now and highly considering going off of birth control completely. This pill makes me nauseous, my breasts are always tender and if I'm not crying, I'm in a screaming fit of rage (my poor husband). It does regulate your cycles. My period usually lasted 9 days and now it only lasts 3 or 4. But I'd take 9 days periods over feeling like this any day."

"This is my 2nd time on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. First time was great. No side effects. I took it for around a year then decided to switch to Depo. Here I am again taking it, only this time is bad! I get a daily headache, really bad nausea followed with occasional vomiting, cramps, spotting, vaginal dryness, my sex drive has gone out the window, leg cramps in my calf, bloating, yeast infections and frequent urinary tract infections. I'm not sure where or when my body changed to completely dislike this birth control. It has kept me unpregnant which is the only good thing."

"GREAT! I have been on this pill since I was 17. I am now almost 22 and no complaints. I originally got on it to regulate my period which it did, and shortened and lightened it too! Less acne. No weight gain. No pregnancies. With my insurance, it is free too!"

"This Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo birth control really helped. I had horrible acne and oily skin. It made me gain a little weight but that is okay considering I'm very thin. I struggle with extreme depression, anger, and anxiety, and this pill only made it worse. However, I was used to it already and was able to control it. It controlled my skin and prevented pregnancy however so I love it. I just went to the pharmacy and got this new pill Tri Lo Sprintec and after reading NOT A SINGLE GOOD review, I can say I'm scared for my life to take this lmao. Apparently it causes horrible acne mood swings cramps. And I already get all of those things. I'll take this for a month then update."

"I started using this birth control after a previous one since it was too strong (on it for 4 months). I have been using this for 7 months and I have since gained 30 lbs. I eat very healthy and exercise 5 days a week, as well as live in a city so I walk up to 8 miles a day. Plus I am in training for a marathon, so I should be losing weight not gaining it. I used this birth control for acne as well as for preventing pregnancy. I can say I have had no pregnancy scares and my period came the same day every month, so I always knew when I would be getting it. It has cleared up my acne a little, however not a lot. This is my last month taking it as it is most likely the reason I gained so much weight, plus it took away my sex drive."

"I've been on Ortho TriCyclen Lo for about 6 months now and I haven't had many side effects. Good: I went from having terrible cramps to practically no cramps at all. No nausea, no headaches, no spotting. Boobs got a little bigger. Bad: My sex drive was already very low, and now it's even lower. I feel like I could easily go without sex for the rest of my life. Because of this, I will be switching to another pill when this month is done."

"Started for acne and birth control. Has been great for awhile. Last six months have noticed extreme changes. Mood and body. I gained depression, weight, hated how I looked etc. I would cry for absolutely no reason. My once calm understanding person changed into a snappy crying freaking out person. Get extremely sad over things I normally wouldn’t. This has changed so many relationships in my life. Thinking about something to the non hormonal IUD, but worried about the acne."

"I was on OrthoTriCyclenLo for about 3 years. I had to switch off this pill because my insurance didn't cover it anymore and there was no way I'd be paying $109 per pack. I didn't have any bad side effects on this pill. I noticed I gained about 10lbs over the years on this pill, but I wouldn't 100% blame that on the pill, I'd say it's more to do with me not working out and stuffing my face. My boobs grew 3 cup sizes. I was a 36C before, then worked my way up to a 32DDD. My acne cleared up completely and if I ever did get pimples it was always around the same time in the same spot. My periods were 3-5 days and they were very light with little to no cramps. No condoms with bf and never had a pregnancy scare. I would recommend OrthoTriCyclenLo."

"I've only been on it for a month, but I'm really liking it so far. I haven't experienced any noticeable side effects. I have trouble with irregular & painful periods, acne, depression, mood swings, insomnia, etc. So far I've noticed that I haven't broken out since I started this birth control. I also have felt less depressed. I've had 1 period while on this birth control and it was just as painful as usual, but the bleeding was much slower and much lighter. (I go through 2 tampons every 8 hours as opposed to 2 every 1 hour) I haven't noticed any mood swings and my insomnia has definitely improved. Overall I really like this birth control. The only thing that could make it better is if it made my periods completely pain-free."

"I have used Tri-Cyclen Lo since I was 19 and I am 24 now. I definitely notice some mood swings and irritability the week before my period, but nothing severe. It made my cramps are very minimal, it regulated my period and made it much shorter (4 days vs. It used to last a week or more), which was the reason I initially went on it. It works well for me, but everyone is different."

"I have been using this pill since May of this year. It is also the first pill I've tried. It is a great pill, my monthly cycle is on time and the same week every month only downside its 6-7 days instead of 5-6 like I had before. It has prevented pregnancy for me, I did realize my boobs got a little bigger, my sex drive is the same as it was, no weight gain and there's bad cramping in the beginning of my cycle but then it goes away. Overall it's a great pill and it does do its job. I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about starting birth control."

"I am on the generic version of ortho tri-cyclen lo. I've only been on it for one month, but so far I love it. I'm coming off of 5+ years of depo shots, so I know my body hasn't fully gotten rid of the depo yet. For this reason, I still haven't gotten a period on ortho yet. But my mood hasn't changed, I haven't gained weight, and I don't have acne or nausea. I am slightly worried about getting pregnant because of prior reviews where this has happened on ortho, but my husband pulls out as well so I'm hoping we'll be fine. My boobs have gotten bigger, which I love! They are rounder and fuller. They are slightly more tender than usual but not to the point where it hurts. Anyway I haven't been on it long but I wanted to leave a positive review!"

"I've been on these pills for 1 year and 3 months, and I've finally got the chance to switch. These pills gave me less menstrual cramps, but an increase in migraines. My libido completely died and I had depression/mood swings while on it."

"It was originally $30 a month, but with new healthcare laws it's free. When I was put on this, I was scared to tell the doctor that I had severe depression. After being on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, my depression went away! I only seem to get it every once in a while. After being on it a while, I noticed that I got increasingly violent. I would get angry over the tiniest things. My periods are a lot lighter and not as painful. Despite the unexplainable rage, I'd say this changed my life! I can always expect my period on the same day."

"Used ortho tri lo for over 3 years to regulate my period and it has been a positive experience. I have been able to use for 3 consecutive months or have a period every month. Side effects: breast tenderness, increase sex drive and bloating close to menstration. Positive are I did not gain weight, light periods, cleared my acne and it did not make me emotional and it is forgiving if I forget to take the pill. I really like this pill!"
