"I have just been on Microgenstin Fe 1/20 for a month now. No period yet, which made me nervous until reading some these reviews. I was on Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 and wanted something with less estrogen. I have lost five pounds, no mood swings and I'm loving it. Only thing is night sweats and more emotional at times."

"Just finishing my first pack with this medication and I have to say, it's working great for me. I'm 20 years old and this was my first time on a hormonal birth control. I chose to get on it for birth control, to help acne, and to regulate my period. Needless to say, I was scared to try it and was worried about side effects. My first week was probably the hardest. I bled for the first 2 days pretty heavy then it stopped. I had nausea on and off for the first week and a half or so, sometimes lasting all day. I could tell my body was a little thrown off but it subsided by week two. Since then, its been smooth sailing and I feel adjusted and perfectly myself on it. Nothing but a good experience for me so far!"

"I've been on Microgestin Fe 1/20 now for a little over 2 years. I haven't gotten my period since I started taking it. My doctors don't know why but don't seem to be too alarmed. I noticed I am emotional and I have the urge to cry about the SILLIEST of things. I don't think it has made me gain weight, if so no more than 5 pounds. "

"I started this pill and all seemed fine. I had some symptoms while my body was "adjusting" to the hormones: breakthrough bleeding, a little weight gain, feeling blue. But I guess my body never fully adjusted because 6 months later, this pill is giving me headaches, I have breakthrough bleeding in the middle of the month every month, I feel slightly nauseous all throughout the day, and I still cramp and get acne. I didn't get pregnant though, and my periods were super light and short, but this pill just doesn't work with my body, I think."

"I'll admit, the first couple of months are terrible but once you get over that hump, it's really amazing. I've always had extremely heavy, painful periods and I've always been prone to ovarian cysts every 6 months. It's month 8 on Microgestin and not only are my periods lighter but my face doesn't break out and I've lost 16lbs. This stuff has honestly changed my life."

"I recently started taking this 3 days ago for PCOS… I asked my doctor for something to control facial hair but it honestly seems like this is a nightmare. I have a strict skincare routine and rarely ever breakout. Then 3 days in I'm starting to see bumps on my forehead. I feel like my pores are enlarged, I get nauseous from the smell of food and my vision is blurry…. Also TMI but I get dark colored discharge the size of a crayon? This is too much for me… I'll just use my other medications and forget this."

"This is the 2nd birth control I've tried to balance out my hormones and it works! No weight gain (other then the breasts one cup size, my mood is calm and I only cry once a month if even (compared to everyday), and I'm not depressed or anxious anymore and sleep is better. It does make your energy lower however and depending on your meal schedules if taken on an empty stomach it raises your acids throughout the day so hunger is increased. I believe you gain weight if you give in to all the cravings. For the first 5 months I had light periods and now for the the last two it stopped all together, I LOVE this pill. For once I'm NOT CRAZY, sex is still the same, and I finally have clear skin!"

"I was on Microgestin Fe for about 2 years . Even In the beginning I never had any bad/abnormal side effects. With it I experienced a small amount of weight gain, tender breast every month around my cycle, increase in my breast size, and my monthly periods lasting 2-4 days with minimal cramping. The only reason I switched was because I wanted less periods. (I switched to Amethia-Lo and I've been on it for about a week now. I hoping it works well with me but if not, I'll definitely switched back to Microgestin Fe)."

"I'm about to start my third month of microgestin fe 1/20 and its great. I have to say that the WORST symptom I experienced was very mild nausea/loss of appetite, and even that would only last for an hour or two after I took it, then I would be fine. I found that it helps to eat something small (like crackers) before taking it. I'm a Sunday starter and I take it at 7:30 each morning. Also, my breasts have gotten a little bigger (next size up), and my acne hasn't changed much, even though it wasn't bad at all before I started this. My hair hasn't fallen out and I've actually lost a few pounds due to loss of appetite. My periods are now more like spotting, but lasts the full 7-8 days. I can get away with just a panty liner though."

"I started taking Microgestin about a year and a half ago. I've never taken any birth control before this. The first couple months I either missed my period or had little to no bleeding. As the months went by my period started to actually feel like a period and what I mean by that is light bleeding but last a few days. I've noticed I feel tired and hungry more often then before. Put on a few pounds breasts, felt sore. I broke out with horrible acne when I had to double up on the pill. "

"I started Microgestin 9 days ago - 2 days after starting it I started having the worst heartburn I have had in years, in spite of the fact that I take Prilosec daily. 3 days after starting it I started getting bloated - I could hear the air moving around my GI tract, had horrible gas pains and looked pregnant. Add in intermittent nausea the next day. I gained 1lb this week - which isn't much I know, but considering I'm on a concentrated diet and exercise program and have been steadily losing 1-2 lbs a week for 3 months.... Nothing else in my life has changed, so I could only attribute all of this to the pill. My doc said this isn't a side effect... but clearly from what I read, it is! Stopped today, feel better tonight already."

"This was the very first pill I was prescribed and stayed on it for 3 years. I decided to try something new and switched to a different pill. Needless to say I'm switching back. When on Microgestin Fe 1/20 I experienced relatively no side effects besides a few pounds of weight gain and my breasts grew about 2-3 cup sizes. My skin was perfect and no nausea, depression, or painful periods. The pill was very effective in preventing pregnancy didn't have 1 scare in the 3 years I was using it. When I first started the pill probably around month 6 I did experience a decreased sex drive but it returned within about a month or two. Overall, I would highly recommend this pill!"

"In reading the reviews of this birth control,I see a lot of been on it a week, a month, couple months. I see a lot of when Watson distributed it,etc. I'm one of those who've had bad experience with it. While yes its done it's job in preventing pregnancy, here I am after 18mos on it and I've decided enough is enough. Pros: no pregnancy, no periods, minimal spotting Cons: 30 lb weight gain, mood swings, nausea induced migraines, lethargic, zero energy, constant feeling of not enough sleep, unusual body pains, painful sex, emotional, looking and feeling pregnant numerous times (even having people ask), increased appetite, pregnancy symptoms, etc As a Mother and nanny, the cons are huge for me as they've greatly impacted me."

"I started this pill 4 months ago, and my hair is breaking badly. I have mood swings very very badly. Also I'm totally emotional all the time. You would think I was pregnant, no sex drive and my husband is fed up with it! "

"I am 20 year old and I started taking Microgestin in August of this year. I started gaining weight, breast getting bigger, retaining a lot of fluid , and mild hair loss. I didn't notice any of this till now I'm in my second month and my mom told me she can tell j have a lot of fluid in my body . My feet swelled up and all. My breast are really tender most of the time which I hate. My sex drive has increased which is a plus, and my periods last about 4 days. As far as the acne , it is crazy I went to the dermatologist and she told me this birth control is prone to acne , but maybe it might go away after a few months. I will come back and update you guys ! As everyone said side effects are different for everyone ."

"Been on this pill for three weeks. The first week I had headaches and nausea and almost quit taking it due to the side effects but my body adjusted. I have a lot of digestive tract issues but this works for me. I have grown almost a cup size and on certain days have tenderness. My sex drive is a lot higher than normal. I had some spotting and a few minor breakouts during the second week. So far so good. I'm 19 and this is my first birth control. No complaints so far, its worth trying."

"After being on this for 18mo I am happy to try something new. Where to start? All seemed fine then it started to snowball. Mood swings (crying over commercials!), NO sex drive, break through bleeding that lasted longer than actual periods (3 days period, & 2 wks break through) & increased headaches. "

"Been on this for a week now. So far my acne has cleared up. Breasts have noticeably gotten larger. Sex drive is definitely higher (and more enjoyable). Some food cravings but not larger appetite. Just want certain things. Had slight tension headaches and mild nausea first few days, however increasing my water intake helped dissipate these symptoms. Slight moodiness first few days similar to PMS but less intense. Some loose stools. On day 8 and feeling great. The body was just getting used to the new hormones. The boyfriend loves the noticeably larger breasts and increased sex drive."

"been off and on microgestin fe 1/20 for the past couple years and I'm a little on the fence. I started it specifically for acne and it completely clears up my skin, but it makes me have absolutely no period. To some that may sound amazing but I don't like the thought of not having a period. It also causes some appetite decrease every now and then. Otherwise I had absolutely no side effects besides some mild vaginal dryness."

"Ive been on this a couple months. Little to no period. I've skipped two in a row. However, no sex drive and very "dry" since I've started taking this. But I still like the fact that I don't have a period."

"My gyno switched me from Teva (brand name) to a generic. The generic wreaked HAVOC on my moods. As someone who suffered from bad PMS already I was led to believe this would help. Did quite the opposite. Triggered months long depression and anxiety. I had preexisting problems with both that were exacerbated by this pill. After wasting at least $800 dollars seeing a shrink and going off of the pill I went to see a psychiatrist who put me on Lexapro which has made me feel a million times better. I know everyone reacts differently to different pills, but I would warn someone with a genetic predisposition to depression and anxiety to be VERY careful going on this pill. Doctors don't always care enough to listen before they prescribe medicine."

"I honestly don't like these pills at all. I mean there are good side effects but they're all mostly bad. The good thing about it is that I never broke out with acne and my chest got a little bigger. But the bad side of these pills is that I get sick to my stomach whenever I start a new month, major mood swings, depression to the point where I'm thinking suicidal thoughts and usually I'm not like that, and they don't even help with my menstral cramps cause they are still pretty severe. Every persons body is different but if these symptoms don't stop I'm switching to another brand."

"I GAINED 25 lbs in the 2 months I was on this pill. I also had no sex drive at all. My hubby is not liking that at all. My breast did go up and for me already being a full D was not good. I will be switching back to the ring! I hope the weight comes off fast!"

"I was put on this after I had my 2nd son 3yrs ago and this pill started off great. The 1st 8 months were totally fine with this pill, it even stopped my periods which at 1st made me stressed but then I got used to it. As soon as the 8th months went by the bad side effects kicked in. I put on 20lbs, started breaking out, moods swings and PMDD were in full force. I started getting weekly migraines that literally made me bedridden. "

"Awful, swore I was on this before and was miserable but gave it a chance because I switched doctors and we didn't have old records but I had the horrible flash backs instantly as soon as I switched to this Birthcontrol. I had the following symptoms: Lowered sex drive; my boyfriend even noticed, it became embarassing. Breaking out Weight gain Intense headaches Nausea all the time; felt like I was car sick 24/7 Severe cramping; never wanted to crawl in bed and cry so much as I had with this med. Heavy periods Interrupted sleep Tender boobs Ughh needless to say this has been a nightmare do not do this to yourself."
